Had pizza, crowded but this was a good sign. Food & beer was great. The host was a bit odd, when we asked for a table outside she took us to a table inside. When we asked if there was anything outside, she didn't say anything for a while then stated "I'd rather not, there's only one server out there." Ok, but this awkwardness could have been avoided by simply stating up front there were no seats available outside, especially since we didn't have a reservation and it looks like those are recommended since this is really a great place. Absolutely incredible pizza in Charlottetown, Nova Scotia! Our waiter was such a sweet young man from Sandy Spring, FL, so we were immediately friends with us from Palm Harbor. He brought our drinks quickly, and returned to take our order....veggie pizza please. I kid you not, the pizza was there before you could say mozzarella because even with one one oven, they cook the pizza in 9 seconds, folks!!!!! No thick marinara type pizza sauce, but rather cut up tomatoes in their own juice, which, yes, does make the crust a little soggy when baked, but goodness, the flavor of the crust and vegetables come shining through. We went on a Friday night and got seated immediately. The server was very friendly. We ordered carprese salad, Vegano pizza and Mac & cheese. They were all really good especially the Mac & cheese. The house made pasta was cooked on point with a great chewiness to it, and the cheese was rich but not too rich. We ended the night with a flourless chocolate cake to share between four people. We specially enjoyed the wood fire pizzas. We came here on a Friday night which was great. They had live music of the singer, Mike. His music was so pleasant and professional. I was so happy to find this place we had a reservation pre show at the Confederation centre, but we were hungry and walked in earlier with no problems. They had lots of pizza and pasta options. My guys shared 2 pizzas with meat and cheese and I had the vegan pizza on a gluten free crust. It was AMAZING!!!! They make their own gluten free crust and it was delicious....fluffy and crispy but chewy. Even my son was surprised at how good it was and he hates all things gluten free. We finished off with the trio of tarts for the guys to share (chocolate, caramel and lemon) and the dessert Nutella pizza on gluten free crust with walnuts on top. I was so happy and satisfied after the meal. The service was good and they turned down the A/C when requested. Since we arrived early we missed the live music that was starting as we were leaving. I have start by saying I'm from New England and we have great pizza. The pizza here was not very good despite the rave reviews they have. The pizza was very limp and they do not have any dry meats. The pepperoni and salami are like bologna. Definitely not to most people's liking. Was a total letdown for the pizza. The pasta however was really great. read more

. I liked this place. Very friendly. GREAT service! We are on vacation from California. Pizza is different out there. We've never been to Italy, so it is hard to compare, but on the menu it says their pizza is certified by an Italian association, so this was a new experience. We ordered the radicchio salad, which was fabulous I also had an espresso which was also delicious. They serve Illy offer, from Italy. In my opinion, the best. I love Peet's but Illy takes it up a notch. Then we got the Margherita pizza. I want to be clear: this is not a complaint. It was really different from what I a m used to, but deliciously different: the sauce was mild without a lot of spice(garlic, oregano, etc.), which really brought out the flavor of the tomatoes. The dough was soft.Each slice had a basil leaf and a piece of mozzarella baked on it. It had Parmesan baked in but the flavor was subtle. To get Parmesan on top was extra, which I like, but my wife wanted to experience the pizza the way it was presented. These observations did not prevent us from ordering a second pizza, which we mostly consumed. As a result, we didn't have room for any of their fabulous looking desserts. My favourite pizza on the island. The Charlottetown location just received its VPN certification from Venice. True Napoli style pizza. Cooked in the proper wood-fired oven. Omnomnom. I love the salads too, but obviously one comes here for the -INCREDIBLE- pizza. I'm pretty sure this is the only thin-crust-pizza place on the island. Thank goodness Piatto has arrived! My favourites are the Margherita, the "Contadino" (Farmer - lots of veggies and an herbed goat cheese) and the Funghi Selvatici (Mushroom - cheese and truffle oil make this one rich and delectable!) I'm not a beet fan (I know, I know, shoot me) but I have friends who just drool over the beet salad here. Speaking of salads and pizzas, they have an AWESOME lunch deal where you get a small salad and a lunch-ish-sized pizza for $12.99. Neopolitan pizza, certified, what more need be said. It is a lovely open concept restaurant, courteous staff, and on the day we visited blessedly no waiting list (an anomaly I was told). The food fired oven and open prep area are front and Center as is their wine and espresso (Illy) bar. They serve salad, calzone, and red or white pizza. They have a lovely selection of Italian wine by the glass and sparkling water as well as local Gahan House beer and national beer. I had the Margarhita which had a fresh tomato sauce without any bite of acidity and a lovely basil leg per slice. The preceding Caesar salad was not to heavily coated, and the bacon was very spicy! While we had no room for desert, we will be back for the lemon curd in a shortbread tart with chocolate. A welcome addition to the Charlottetown food scene. read more

We actually were at the restaurant on the outskirts of Charlottetown but nothing came up for that location. We have a great pizza restaurant in our home town that serves pizza from a wood fired oven like Piatto does so we're interested to try their pizza during our mini vacation to PEI. We enjoyed their lunch special which is a 9 inch pizza with a salad. My dining partner had the Barbabietola Arrostita salad and the Vesuvius pizza while I had a Caesar and the Siciliana pizza. Both meals were very tasty. Love the thin crust pizza! Read some other reviews where the pizza was burnt. Our was not but with this kind of crust, it seems like parts of the crust seem burnt but I feel like that's just the way this pizza comes out. Price was very reasonable. Service was excellent and very attentive. The plaza for this restaurant seems to be suffering from low traffic due to end of summer and of course Covid. Definitely would recommend to leave the city and check out this place. I can't imagine you will be disappointed. read more

Stopped in here after struggling to find a place to eat with our family where we were staying. A very pleasant surprise! The service was great and the pizza was authentic and delicious. There was a problem with ATM and Debit/Credit machines in the area at the time and the manager, Hannah, (thanks!!) went above and beyond to make sure we were able to get our meal before closing. Top marks for Piatto Charlottetown! A take out order was missing part of the order which I only realized when I arrived home 30 minutes later. I phoned and spoke with both the server and manager to explain the situation and within the hour the manager was on our doorstep with the missing item and a couple bonus items for "our trouble". Had their Siciliana Pizza and a Caesar Salad for lunch. Impressed to have good Neapolitan pizza in Charlottetown. Pizza had a chewy crust (thin). Sauce wasn't acidic. Basil and peppers were fresh, as was the mozzarella, Italian sausage spicy, but not overbearing. All cooked in a blisteringly hot wood-fired oven. Salad had a hint of balsamic in the homemade dressing (NEVER a bad thing). And, since it was their lunch special, it was only $12.99. I'll be going back, next time I'm on PEI. read more

wow! what a gem of a pizza joint the heart of Charlottetown! you want a modern place with rustic bones go here. the building has that old timey feel with a very modern looking restaurant inside. and the cherry on the restaurant design is the vespa that greets you in the front door! makes you want to ride it to your table! we ordered a pierro pizza which consisted of chicken, goat feta, arugula and peppers. it cost 18$ and could easily be shared by two. delicious and very satisfying. we also went with a wine flight which rotates every month. this month was an Australia/New Zealand featured flight. don't confuse the two countries though! i heard they hate that! this place rocked my socks. really enjoyed it here and was one of our culinary highlights during our visit. read more

I get it!! You get certified as an authentic Neapolitan pizza restaurant but when a customer complains about the lack of fior di latte on their pizza you might want to listen to them as Guess what, we know soMething about them too. We have never had such a minuscule amount before and we were told In a passive aggressive way that that is the way it's done and that the less is more when it comes to their pizzas. I pointed out that the other toppings were over abundant so does the less is more approach only apply to the cheese? The manager tried to school me in how real pizza is made which just got me annoyed and frustrated even more instead of trying to make a customer happy. The base dough was good if a little thick. Gotta say... This pizza restaurant is a Lamborghini in a category sometimes filled with clunkers. The decor is inviting and the floor plan is open with high ceilings. The pizza (The Sicilian) had amazing ingredients, wood-fired crust, and was just the right size for my wife and I. The salad had dried figs- what?! It was delicious. The staff was super friendly without being intrusive, and we finished up with one of the best cappuccinos I've ever had. Miles- the manager, was gregarious and kind. Don't miss this place! This is the best pizza I have had for... possibly forever! As a vegan, GF foodie, it's hard to find delicious and hearty food while eating out but this meal warmed my soul.
