The long Lyft ride from my hotel in Lower Manhattan to JFK turned out not to be so long, and my frisking down with the TSA wasn't too frisky. In other words, I got to the terminal on the early side, so I had time to get breakfast. Once you get to Terminal 5's main hub, it's hard to miss this cafe layout since it's out in the open where waiting passengers pass by and gawk. Just my type of ambiance. When I took the initiative to seat myself, I was reprimanded for not waiting for his approval to be seated. Napoleon complex I presume. When I sat down, I decided to order the $16 Farmer's Omelette since it was made with egg whites and featured turkey bacon and veggies. I certainly couldn't turn down a country biscuit even though it was mediocre at best. What I could turn down were the home fries and in their place was a limp mixed greens salad (photo: http://bit.ly/2EWA3go). But what did I expect anyway? You're as captive an audience as an airport food operation could want. What would be their motivation to improve the quality when they know you'll be on the phone fidgeting from your indigestion. FOOD - 2 stars...just what kind of farmer eats this kind of omelette? AMBIANCE - 2.5 stars...lookie loos galore SERVICE - 2.5 stars...Napoleon followed by a nice server TOTAL - 2 stars...I believe I can fly RELATED - Airport dining can be a dicey proposition. Here's a collection of places I've tried and reviewed: http://bit.ly/2MmDzq0

Great spot to park and wait for a flight in the JetBlue terminal. You can tell a lot about a place by its bar (ok, I can tell a lot by the bar) and it's great. The Bloody Mary (or two...do t judge) was amazing. In-house crafted mix and quite tasty with a good balance of flavor and spice. The staff is friendly and welcoming and the service quick enough to catch any flight. Worth the stop!

Sat here for a quick bite before our flight. After placing my order I looked on Yelp and regretted my choice. Honestly the food wasn't as terrible as I expected. Its def over priced but then again it's in an airport. I need to make sure I eat before leaving my house to catch a flight. I has to add salt and black pepper to my eggs. The waitress tried her best. I dont understand how people can serve tasteless food and get away with it for so long

KEEP WALKING!!!! Better yet run away. I was pumped when Eater had so many spots in Terminal 5. Sadly it was 6am and they were not the restaurants actually serving the food. Oh so disappointed. I should have known to check reviews when one waiter said that they have all the same food. Definitely worth all the bad reviews. Underperforming food and without a doubt not worth the price. Service was mediocre but for the price and the food it should have been better. Literally no reason for a $16 Bagel and Lox when the bagel is blah and crap cream cheese. Food was just tossed on the plate. So it's not just To-Go food that is a mess it's all the food. Oatmeal was bland but after a heavy squeeze of honey it was better. Hash was the clear winner and best dish by a mile. Should have just ordered 7 or 8 hashes instead of actual entrees. Would rather go hungry then spend another $40 on trash food and don't get me starting on the coffee.

Surprisingly, there is a huge brunch scene at Terminal 5. Lots of seating, coffee, fancy breakfast dishes and cocktails! It almost feels like being at a real restaurant and not at an airport. Lobster Benedict: Pretty fancy for airport food. A very generous amount of lobster that tastes relatively fresh. Unfortunately it's doused in mayo (I prefer the warm butter variety) and it's on whole wheat toast (instead of an English muffin). The poached egg was perfectly gooey. The home fries were crispy and a nice hearty counter to the lighter main. Great way to start a day of travels.

Talk about the art of deception! The restaurant is presentable and gives a vibe that it's a nice place to eat at.... WRONG! Service was slow. Food was garbage. And everything was overpriced for what you are getting. If I could give it 0 stars I would. I ordered the farmers omelet and French teach. I could have spent $34 on a filling well tasting breakfast and ended up with this trash. I'd never go back and never recommend it to a friend.

Sent everything back .. dirty dishes. Horrible service. Waitress are rude and unapologetic. Trying to catch a nice breakfast and ended up eating absolutely nothing.

Service is very slow coffe is just ok told the manager we were waiting 45 min with no food. I know it's an airport but I'm paying $75 for my meals can it be just a little better than ok.

Came here to avoid waiting in a huge line at Starbucks but now wishing I had just waited in line instead. Coffee was gross. Food was cold and also not great. Service was subpar and the one waitress working kept yelling at customers to make sure they knew it would take 30min.

Arrived early for our flight figured we'd eat before boarding versus getting hungry mid flight. Menu is full of breakfast favorites but food is under seasoned and bland. Wish I only ordered the mimosa and coffee versus the breakfast platter and breakfast burger.

Fantastic breakfast. I know I know it is a slight bit pricey but we are on vacation. Love the hours and how convenient the location is. Amari was super sweet and energetic for a busy Saturday morning. Food was delicious. A++

I placed a to-go order and when I questioned how long it would take, so that we could walk around and come back to pick up the order, the waiter responded with an unnecessarily snarky attitude, telling me that they were "not a fast-food restaurant." I wasn't asking for fast food. I was simply asking about the wait time. There was absolutely no reason to be condescending to a customer. Since I didn't have 30 minutes to wait, I asked him to cancel the order and refund my payment. This somehow made him even snarkier. I asked to speak to a manager, who I'm fairly convinced may be a fictional character at this location. After some additional attitude, he finally agreed to cancel the order. Except he didn't. Which raises the obvious question: why work in an industry that requires you to interact with people when you seem to actively resent interacting with people? If basic courtesy and politeness are beyond your emotional bandwidth, perhaps customer service is not the career path for you. I was charged for an order I never received, and the refund was never processed. I only discovered the charge much later when reviewing my bank statement and ultimately had to dispute the transaction with my bank to get my money back. Avoid this place like the bubonic plague. Honestly, the plague might offer better hospitality.

People are coming and going very quickly and three of the staff members were just standing around shooting the sh**. I eventually went up to the counter to ask that my sandwich to be expedited because I need to go catch my flight and slowly, but surely she grabbed it out of the showcase warmed it up and handed it to me. In summary if you're actually taking the time to read a review at the airport if you're needing to move quickly, I would not recommend ordering from them.

You can order from either and it cut's down on the wait if you go to one of the screens. While the prices were insane, we are in an airport so it's somewhat expected (but still not appreciated). We spent almost $50 on breakfast sandwiches and coffee. It did take a while for the sandwich, but I will say that it was really good. It was also huge which isn't what I'm normally looking for at breakfast time but I was about to board a 6hr flight. Honestly they should sell a half sandwich for a more reasonable price. Most people could split one and be happy.

I'd like an explanation for this from Yelp, but in the meantime, here's the short version, as I can't even access the review I wrote. I had a ridiculously bad grab and go sandwich here, a D- even grading on an airport sandwich curve. It was a chicken avocado sandwich, supposedly composed of grilled chicken, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and chipotle aioli on whole grain bread. Camden Food Co. must have looked up the absolute minimum amount of avocado they could use and still name the ingredient on the packaging. The sandwich was made up of tasteless slices of chicken, a bit of lettuce and tomato, and not a single solid piece of avocado. The only discernible avocado was a thin green smear on the bread. It just looked like the bread had touched an avocado by accident. I paid $17.41 for this sandwich and resent every wasted penny. I'm a little embarrassed, just as an American, that travelers can get food this terrible at New York's main international airport.

Compared to its surrounding restaurants, this place is way easier to get a seat at and tends to have fairly quick service. The QR codes make it super easy to get your order in ASAP which helps. The wine was great and not too $$ considering it's airport booze. I've gone for this roll several times and yesterday's was a bit fishier than it normally is, but still great. Walked across the foot bridge which easily connects T5 to my hotel, there are a few eateries in the terminal including a Food Hall, I seen other restaurants, none of them appeals to my cravings. Service can be either hit or miss and also not consistent in service, especially during the dinner rush hour may not be the best timing. However, this one night I have discovered that the Bar is hiding its best service. Waitress was friendly and efficient as customers waiting for seats or takeout orders. As busy as JFK is, never did I feel rushed. Upon arrival, I immediately noticed QR Codes on the counter for you to order from. Was a little sticker shocked at the prices on the menu, but what can I expect? It's NYC. All I ordered was gyoza and fried rice. Food came out in about 10 minutes or so. While I sat at the counter, I stared at the 3 TV screens avoiding the chaos of the airport. What really stood out to me was the liquor selection but was extremely tired to have had any type of alcohol with my dinner. Food was okay, but hot from the kitchen. Would I come here again? Probably not.
