I don't get why this place is popular. Our experience was awful. From the moment we walked in it was like the staff didn't want us there. Rude. Service was beyond slow. And if the food had been even remotely decent, maybe I could have seen past that. But it wasn't. Tasteless 'Italian' food. More like straight off the truck Cisco food. As far as places in the area, piazza Mia is hands down the best option. Plus, it's supporting a local small business. I've been there once for sit down dinner and I have since ordered multiple times to go. Owner is AMAZING and spent time getting to know us and talking with us during our sit down experience. We ordered appetizers, drinks, meals and desert and each course was spectacular. It is SO much more flavorful than other options in the area, and the prices are pretty competitive considering it's decent portions and it's clear they use quality and fresh ingredients. Place was very clean and no signs of crumbs, stains, dirt and dust etc. it's clear the owner takes pride in his business and runs this establishment really well. Waiter was incredibly nice and helpful as well and seemed genuinely nice and like he enjoyed his job. Same thing with the people in the Togo section. Each time they are consistently nice. Bathrooms are well maintained and always clean. Would totally recommend going here out of all places in the area. So much more fresh and a better experience than going to directly competitive places like That large "Italian food"(NOT really) chain up a few minutes away where you're getting poor quality ingredients that are simply just microwaved, expensive junk. 100000% recommend. read more

My party and I were pleasantly surprised with everything here. The food was very good and fairly priced for what you get. We ordered the chicken parmesan, bianca pizza, side caesar salad, chicken tenders w/ fries and calamari. Staff was friendly and checked several times with us throughout our meal. Had a great experience on New Years Day 2017. Family of 6 and I am talking big eaters everything from appetizers to dessert and even brought a large pizza home and the cost extremely reasonable. The meals tasted wonderful authentic Italian. Services incredible, very friendly and quick. We are very needy and our server took care of everything we needed. This is in response to the review written by Jean C. below. I am also one of the group of women who attended the luncheon last Wed. Jean C. is entitled to her opinion, but I have spoken to several other women and can truly tell you the majority were very pleased with the food, service and the fact that the checks were individual. I have no idea what she is talking about the servers "not able to handle most of the bill." I personally went to each table and made sure everyone knew there would be a $3.50 beverage charge included on each check, which included "unlimited hot AND cold beverages." I have been consistently pleased with the food and service for several years and will continue to enjoy many more meals there. They had me sold on the dinner rolls with fresh garlic, olive oil and salad. Portions were generous on the entree but average in taste. As far as local restaurants go in comparision this was top notch. Food was average. The house salad dressing was a bit sour. The Fettuccine Alfredo was very bland -- my friend added salt to her (and she never adds salt to her food). The Lasagna was bland as well. I've had homemade lasagna and this wasn't nearly as good. read more

We've been here a few times and have had nothing but excellent service and delicious food. My favorite dish is the ravioli italia, but you can tell that every dish is completely hand made right within the restaurant. The ingredients are fresh and the portions are hearty. The service is very friendly and fast, and the bartenders have been wonderful! My ONLY critique is that the center section of the restaurant can get a little noisy and crowded during busy hours since it only contains tables. The side sections are much more enjoyable as they contain booths which allow for a little more privacy. Considering some of the other dining options in the area (and there aren't many) this restaurant is a complete gem! I love supporting non-chain restaurants! We love Piazza Mia! read more

Overall nice dinner experience. Loved the fresh warm bread with garlic and olive oil. Salad was crisp and fresh, and someone took the time to carefully drizzle it with just the right amount of dressing. I don't typically post restaurant reviews but I can't not accept the quality of food offered around Dover any longer. I'm not a professional cook but oil, salt, and butter should not be the main ingredients in every dish. People of Dover you need to improve your standards or else these places will keep feeding us this slop. I finally stopped in Pizza Mia after driving by several times over the years. I hate American-Italian restaurants because after living in Italy for 5 years I haven't been able to find anything that remotely compares to the freshness and quality you can find in even the crappiest hole in the wall places around Naples or Venice. Pizza Mia set the bar to a new low. I new we were in for a rough night when the bread the server brought out was burnt, and the balsamic dressing on the salad was so sweet my 8 year old daughter refused to eat it. This is from a child who could eat a bowl of sugar for breakfast if we let her. This is the honest truth, my pizza was sent back 3 times because the crust was blackened. The waiter told us the first was sent back because he didn't have the heart to bring a burnt pizza to us. The second one I sent back, I rarely ever do this. The third one was black as well but had at least 3 pieces that seemed edible. My daughters cheese pizza was blackened, not just burnt, as well too. I was unimpressed with the toppings that were obviously sliced, frozen and prepackaged at a factory in southern California. This pizza was so oily I could barely choke down the first slice, the second I thought might be better but I stopped half way through. How can a place called "Pizza" Mia mess up a frigging pizza so badly? No Italians use more than a teaspoon or 2 of olive oil to make pizza. Yes America this is true. The Italian places around Dover have ruined the food here to suit your fat, oil loving, sugar obsessed pie holes? My wife's calamari was horrible as well, ironically it was cold. The service was okay but it bothers me when I actually have to ask for a glass to pour my beer into. Am I supposed to suck on the bottle like some wino? Anybody who gives this place more that one star is delusional. I have pretty low standards for food, I don't eat foie gras or beef wellington but I will never go to Pizza Mia again. Please fell free to contact me Pizza Mia, I think you should fire your food cooker. I refuse to call him a chef. read more

La Piazza looks really nice inside, bright, fresh colors, clean, pictures of Italian landmarks on the walls. Very aesthetically pleasing. In my opinion, this is a restaurant that will do in a pinch for a Wednesday night, " I don't feel like cooking." or a quick lunch. I dined there recently with my husband and I give 5 stars for the service, meaning the hostess, and bartender/waitress. My husband was waiting for me, so he had ordered a beer and the flat bread pizza appetizer. They do have a full bar, including several wine and beer choices. The flatbread was OK. Lots of chopped tomatoes sliding off the flatbread. Their menu is pretty extensive. I had the chicken rollatini, and my husband, the chicken saltimbocca. He said his was terrible. The sauce was a strange brownish color, and the chicken was tough. My entree was ok. I think I would prefer a side of pasta in lieu of mashed potatoes, - and I am sure they would have accommodated me, had I asked.The portions are large, but as in the case of my husband, what good is that if you don't like your meal? In closing, if you are really hungry, and are not expecting an awesome Italian meal, you could go here. read more

Had new service wait staff tonight, he was great and the training staff was patient and positive. Been here many times as it's one of my daughter's favorites. Tonight, in a relatively slow Tuesday night I watch what appeared to be a manager with an untucked and unprofessional look yell orders across the dining room at the wait staff to bus tables and whatnot. While I understand the desire to ensure a tentative staff and polished look I also see a negative and unpolished appearance from the manager. The entire food, wait staff, and greeting hostess was a 5 start experience. Stopped in after a local baseball game...had a large party...11 people....had a few minutes wait while they prepped our table. Waiter was very attentive stayed on top of our needs all evening. Was very impressed especially with such a large party. Manager stop by the table once or twice to check in on everybody, nice touch. Watched the tall guy making our pizza put his hands in a cleaning bucket and ring out dirty rag then without washing his hands he starts touching our pizza dough and proceeds to make our pizza. Then after putting the pizza in the oven, he takes his hands and pulls his face mask down below his nose, wiping his nose, then puts his hands in a container to get out the greens for our pizza. Then wipes his hands on his pants! We called our waitress over and explained what happened and we requested to talk to the manager. The waitress returns and says "he said you don't have to pay for the rolls or your bowl of soup, have a good night." Very sad with lack of respect for your customers. We ate here frequently and won't be coming back. 1/6/21 at 8pm. I Just had dinner there and I ordered the pepperoni/sausage calzone. What a waste of time. You could hardly cut it with the dinner knife and when I got into it there was hardly 10 piece's of pepperoni in each half. If you want a dough sandwich that is the place to go. I ate 1/3 of the half as the rest was empty. Saved the other 1/2 for the dog. Threw the dough away was to tough to eat. My first and last time there. read more
