So!! Many may not remember the good old Pic n Save on Firestone Blv in Downey back in the early 80's!! I was sad when they closed because they had GREAT CHEAP NAME BRAND ITEMS!!! So after Uhhh.. maybe 10 or more years, I see the yellow golden sign with that special font that read PIC 'n SAVE in Whittier, I made that illegal u turn to go check it out! Well I was not impressed with the set up of aisles, food in the front, beauty items in back, a flower shop in the corner...racks of clothes spread about but nonetheless I did find three good buys, all beauty related. I will add that they carry LEVIS jeans for men at 30.00not too bad, men's cargo shorts for 10.00 and varies clothing items at very reasonable prices. They sell Latin spices, lots of Latin food products, OH AND FURNITURE ITEMS THAT LOOKED PRETTY PROMISING AT AFFORDABLE PRICES. While I didn't experience walking back into the PicNSave I knew and missed, I did acquaint myself with the new and only Pic n Save I now know standing locally for those quick trips on gift buying, home trying purchases!! Is this one of the last Pic 'N' Saves not converted to a Big Lots or what? So unusual, had to see for myself. So strange inside. Not what I expected. They sell name brand jeans at discounted prices. Ie. Levi's. Granted, in unusual sizes. But if you're looking for a piñata for your next party, this is where you can find one, along with the bags of candy to fill it with. I bought some candy on my way out. The member rewards card still works here, too. What was most noticeable was that the employees were all female the day I was here. For those os us who remember the original Pic n' Save stores before they evolved into Big Lots and for the few of us who actually shopped at the original Pic n' Save store on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, California, this shop is a great remembrance of that era. This store is a large, open spaced shopping location, with a very organized warehouse vibe. They have a lot of ever-evolving everything. There is no one item that this store can be defined by, because they have a wide variety of all things that you never knew you needed. Meaning, this is a fun store to go into just to see what they are offering. Maybe you need it, maybe you don't, but it's always a fun place to shop. Prices here are very good. They are all at the discount level, but the quality remains high. The key defining factor of this story is that you never know what you'll find. Which is also the main reason that you go here. I was so excited to see this store come back!! It totally different from the old one that was located across the street many years ago. This store is more like a warehouse, you won't find things in aisles they'll be on tables in boxes and racks. I met the manager on my visit she was very proud of her store, it was very refreshing to see someone who loves their job. I've passed by this store a few times when I have been in Whittier and finally decided at the spur of the moment to drop in. So glad I did! I remember back in the days prior to Big Lots taking over that I really liked their merchandise. Big Lots also felt the same way when they took over but then slowly over time lots its appeal and essentially feels like a junk store now. With this "reboot" it truly feels like a Tuesday Morning with brand names at closeout bargain prices. Aisles and shelves weren't completely organized but I bet that's what adds to its appeal. I found some levis, a humidifier, and an indoor grilling pan. The best part was the add'l 10% off when you sign up for their email communications. Hopefully they'll add more locations soon in addition to the Anaheim store. read more

I just happen to find this blast to the past while driving down the street and it really was great to see Pic n Save. I asked the cashiers (who were very courteous) why they were a Pic N Save and not Big Lots. They said the original owner wanted to go back to Pic n Save model and he no longer has any connection to big lots but he opened this pic 'n save and one in Anaheim. Whoa!!! What a change. I've been out of town for months and I went to the Anaheim store and they told me Whittier has finally open. I always go to the Anaheim store but I wanted to check this one out. The Whittier store is nice, the prices are better than target when I compared them but I wish there was a bit more. Growing up when I went to Pic n Save as a kid they had everything. Back then if I can remember It was a place to get food, household items, clothes for a deal all in one spot. PROS Now they have pallets of items on the floor, a very nice balloon section and some things across the wall. Mexican chips and candies. I got some really great Thresholds target items for a decent price which beat targets prices. The water is a steal!! They had Kirkland water and the prices were better than Costco's. CONS I gave them 4 starts for a few things. The music is WAY TOO LOUD! I want to shop and be able to hear my thoughts. At Anaheim there music is better. -Prices are okay they do beat their competitors by a few bucks but a few bucks isn't really a "bargain". The customer service was just okay. They did ask me if I needed any help but it seems like these are young people and they lack service. I get a better service at the Anaheim store. Terrail always greeting me and my family and made sure we are enjoying the store. Bridget was also very nice. -There was no food like the Anahiem store. With todays inflation I wish they had a food section which I loved. -Not a big selection of things I noticed they didn't have your everyday needs like toothpaste, q-tips, bandaids, medicine, lotion and etc -wish they had sorts of party bags, tissue paper and birthday cards in there party section. It's really nice with balloons, ribbon, balloon arch and really good prices piñatas Overall there prices are okay. I really like the store but wish there was more in the store. Disappointment. Was looking for nostalgic vibes of the actual pic n save era, but this is completely different. This was opening weekend, I am sure they will have more merchandise as the store is open longer. Pallets of random stuff. Prices seem higher than Walmart and target. They have price comparison posters, but the prices are super inflated (so misleading and fake). Good deals if looking for piñatas, coke in glass bottles, Mexican candies, and little succulents. read more

Went here at my lunch to see the nostalgic pic n save from back in the days... to my surprise it was different but in a good way . They have pallets of new things from Target,Macy's and Walmart . Prices very cheap got a Macy set of knifes for 80-90% off originally $279 I checked myself on website and I got them for $19.99. Crazy good deals ! read more

I bought a air mattress in December and I didn't have a chance to use it when I did five weeks later it was defected went to the store on 223 to try to get an exchange or my money back receipts do not say no returns after 30 days no signs in the store posted spoke to assistant manager spoke to retailers and they all said they can't give me my money back or exchange be careful leery about products by their my experience was very bad spent well over $300 in merchandise got one product defect it was under 50 bucks and they had a problem giving me my money back bad experience for me don't recommend the store be leery on what you buy.! read more

Ok the store was a pleasant surprise! I found a floor lamp that is actually a Target item selling at Target currently for over 90.00 and they had it for 19.99. I signed up for text messaging and received 10% for first purchase. Got it for 17.99! It is a great floor lamp! Wow! They also had Christmas PJs for only 3.99! The blankets also I found to be a great price! A blanket sold at Target currently for 49.99 which is their sale price is only 19.99. Xmas stuff is a great price and good quality! Definitely worth returning! Staff are great also! Not the Pic N Save from the 1970s and 1980s that sold broken or old merchandise. Once Big Lots took them over, they marked up their prices. This store is like Grocery Outlet with more home stuff! Loved it! read more
