Our first time trying Dominican food! We ordered a whole fish in garlic sauce with a side of fried yucca- recommend...the sauce is the main attraction on this one. Chicken chicharron with french fries were yummy as well...seasoned well n fried crispy. The other two dishes were chicken creole mofongo and pork belly mofongo! Both hearty and delicious. This family style cooking restaurant serving DR food is very good. Everything was great except calamari which the meat was too little. Ox tail was fantastic, the beef steak and shrimp were good, more so the shrimp. Portions are good. Empanada beef was very fresh. Tres leches was very good. Highly recommended. read more

Joah was such an amazing waitress! She was very kind and attentive. Food was well portioned and filling, you'll probably end up boxing some for the next day. The ambiance is cozy and relaxing. I come here when my family visits and it's always so good. They portions are fairly large, and the servers are bilingual and always friendly and attentive. They can also seat very large groups of people, which is convenient when everyone is in town. I love brings friends and family here. read more

First off I want to say we grew up in NYC and I was raised with Dominicans. Maybe it's the difference between NYC and Florida but it wasn't the same. The flavors weren't what we are used to. Second, they slapped on a 18% gratuity and it was just a party of 4. Myself, husband and two kids. It came out to $105 and the sweet plantains were not cooked I side but black on the outside. After asking several times if rice came with the meals she said yes and we were still charged for extra rice after I asked for clarity. I'm not sure if they thought we were tourist but that wasn't the best experience in town. Also, the receipt she gave us said $101 and after she charged my debit card it was $105. Again not communicating that they were charging us to use our debit card. I wouldn't come back. read more

It was really good. I had never eaten at a Dominican restaurant so I asked what to order and was not led astray. I ordered the #8 which is chicken breast filled with yellow banana and mozzarella with mashed potatoes. It was like an Alfredo sauce with cheese. It was on point!! I'm writing this review based on multiple experiences with this restaurant, and I honestly don't understand how it has a 4.9-star rating. It's hard to believe all those reviews are from real customers because this place consistently fails to handle even a moderate number of people. Most recently, we were here for a wedding dinner. We arrived around 8 PM, and by 10:30 PM we still hadn't been served. Several tables that arrived after us received their dishes first, while we were repeatedly told, "It'll be ready soon." By 10:40 PM, after more than two and a half hours of waiting, we were told that only one of our dishes was ready. At that point, we had no choice but to leave without eating. Fortunately, the bride and groom served the cake themselves, and we also received the wedding favors (little boxes with chocolates and a cookie). Honestly, that saved us from feeling nauseous, because we sat there for hours without eating anything from the restaurant. This place simply cannot handle events. The chef is also the owner, and he's the only person cooking. There's one person washing dishes and one completely overwhelmed waitress trying to manage everything. It's impossible to run a restaurant, let alone a wedding, with such a limited and unprepared staff. And this wasn't even my first bad experience. I previously attended an evening where two singers performed, almost like a mini-concert, and again the restaurant was completely overwhelmed. They couldn't handle the number of people, orders were delayed for hours, and the entire service collapsed. It seems that when they have more than one or two tables, the whole operation breaks down. At this point, it's clear the owner doesn't know what running a restaurant entails. If they're constantly 2-3 hours late and They can't handle clients, events, or even basic service; they should make significant changes or reconsider staying in business. Extremely disappointing and definitely not recommended. read more

Our first time visiting this establishment was on April 8th 2023, it was so good we came back for breakfast on April 9th 2023. The service from Paul last night and the nice lady (I did not get her name) was very good. The food came out pretty fast. It was hot and delicious. For dinner my husband had the red snapper, it was steamed with coconut milk and garlic and served with rice and beans. He enjoyed every bit of it! All that remained was a pile of bones . I had the stew oxtail with rice and beans and a small salad. It was so good!! ( You may have noticed I'm a fan of oxtails) this one ranks in my top 10 for flavor and tenderness. For breakfast we had Mangu with eggs, cheese and salami with coffee. Absolutely delicious! We now have a favorite spot in Kissimmee. read more

I always come here looking for latin food. Cilantrillo is great and so is Pal campo but if you've been to both of those they are very very expensive. This place is cheaper and food is great. They tasted truly Dominican. The only thing I wasn't too crazy about were the maduros. The plantains were not ripe enough to be maduros. We ordered a cafe con leche that was decent and a merengue soda. The service was efficient, not unfriendly, but straightforward. The place is not fancy. All of these reviews lower than 5 are FOS. I have been to the location about 10 times, on 10 different occassions. Yes there are not 20 staff members to answer your every whim Yes the location is not the prettiest. Yes the menu has a lot of items on it. That is what makes it so good. You have one on one interaction with the owners who actually care about their food and their service. They have low overhead and so they don't charge so much. - I told them they should charge more for their food because it always comes out as good if not better than abuelas. I always leave a $100 tip because I feel they are lowballing themselves. Their menu has a lot of items because the chef is that versatile and they want to appeal to the diaspora that is central Florida's Latino community. The food is awesome. The Service is special and the chef is a damn artist/magician. Don't come in here with your uppity attitudes, Don't give the staff a hard time. We are on vacation and were in the mood for some warm, tasty, spicy food. We drove by a few shops and we stop at Picalonga Mix. The gentleman came from behind the counter to welcome us. We ordered take out. He was very helpful with the menu. Although I was rushing to order, he kept telling my husband to take his time and that he would answer any questions. My husband ordered so beed entree and they made it extra spicy for him. While waiting for the food we order beer, he opened it for us and pour it into a freezing mug. Absolutely amazing authentic Spanish meal. Our dishes were all delicious. We had the oxtail stew, seafood cazuela, fried pork belly, and fried plantains. Everything was spot on, and recommended by Dee. THEN, she told us about their secret hot sauce and it was totally a game changer.
