    Chilaquiles yum

After going back and forth with my American-Filipino husband (Sometimes we compromise our own cultural breakfasts standards) about where to have breakfast in Vegas right before going back to Los Angeles CA. I recalled this place (I've visited on my own back in September 2025 for my birthday month celebration) and I suggested to give it a try.. he was not open to the idea but as in most relationships I (me) say the last word jk so, I took him here. We entered a bit upset with each other and hungry but left having a conversation about this amazing place. We said "right food, great service, excellent ambiance and the best of all the right price" Okay, okay here my review: Authentic Mexican Gem - The Chilaquiles are a Must! "If you are looking for an authentic Mexican breakfast or brunch in Las Vegas, Picanta Mexican Kitchen is a total hidden gem. From the moment you walk in, the ambience strikes a perfect balance--it's cozy and contemporary with a trendy vibe that makes you feel right at home (small in space but just like the fine things in life; a gem ) The service was truly exceptional; the staff is incredibly welcoming and attentive, often making you feel like family. As for the food, the Chilaquiles with steak (Carne Asada) were easily the highlight. I ordered the Chilaquiles Suizos with steak, and they were phenomenal--perfectly creamy, cheesy, and the steak was cooked exactly right. They also offer unique 'stuffed' chilaquiles that are essentially cheese-filled and a total game-changer.

My friend and I were looking for a Monday lunch spot, and when I said I was craving Mexican food she immediately told me, "I'm taking you to Picanta Mexican Kitchen." It ended up being about a 30-minute drive -- and absolutely worth every single red light on the way there. Yes, it's in a strip mall and the exterior is a little dated, but don't let that fool you, the inside is bright, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed. Such a cute surprise once you walk in. I started with the Jamaica Morita to drink (not picture, too delicious I forgot to take a photo) and it was so refreshing, just the right balance of sweet and tangy. For an appetizer, we shared the Camarón Zarandeado Botana Picanta. First time trying it and now I'm hooked, it's officially my new go-to starter. For my main, I ordered the Mole Enchiladas and WOW... the flavor was bold in the best way possible. The portion was generous (3 enchiladas!) so I even had leftovers for later. I'm already planning my next trip back!

Here comes another hidden Las Vegas gem just a few steps from the bus stop at Algonquin & Flamingo. Mom and I stopped at Picanta after her morning physical therapy session, because our lead therapist's wife is a native of Mexico, and he proclaimed this place to be both authentically tasty, and tastefully authentic. And we weren't disappointed. The friendly murmur of the place is decidedly Spanish on the whole, so those who speak the language of the cuisine sound like they are well represented... always a good sign for an establishment that trades on its ethnic authenticity. And yet, the music selections are decidedly the kind of neo-funky disco house crossovers that are cast from an updated Donna Summers mold, so the overall tone here is just a little bit clubby... a welcome departure from the greatest hits of some anonymous mariachi band. The chips, and salsa are a cut above the typical in that they were both obviously house made by a cheffing staff that takes care for all the little details. The namesake picanta in salsa is perfectly balanced, so that the taste profile on the front end is both broad, and bold, while the spiciness rises up on the back end of the bite to flood the pallet with the heat it has been expecting. But the pique doesn't last any longer than the start of the next bite... so the flavor can just keep on coming. I was encouraged to see Mole on the menu along with other traditional Tex-Mex favorites, and some offerings that you might find both on the streets, and in the upscale bistros in Mexico City. As for drinks, and desserts, the upscale authenticity keeps on rolling. The US Open tennis crowd will be encouraged by the offerings of Palomas, Aperol Spritzes, and the fruity things that mimic a Deuce cup. My Paloma was both astringently refreshing, and mildly intoxicating, just as it should be. Mom, and I split the Pollo Mole which had just the right amount of cocoa & chile to make it mole, but no so much that it drowned out the other flavors that make mole a smoky good treat. It came with a stock infused rice, and a lightly fatted refried bean offering on the side which was just enough to complement to generous portion of mole on the plate. There was probably enough there to split among three, which is awesome for the $18 price point it carries. As for the deserts menu... there is enough variety, and uniqueness there to make coming back the main reason for the trip. And since this is a neighborhood place with a uniquely variegated main menu to boot, I'm sure we'll make the brief journey many times in the future. This time we had the plátanos flameados, which sadly do not come out flaming, but still taste wonderfully caramelized by the flames that cooked in their sauce in the pan. When we do come back for more, I'll update you in the pix section... and maybe Mom & I will see you here one of those times, too! ¡Desfrute!

Pollo de Mole Delicio!! Cafe de Olla so yummy too!?Ambience of the restaurant very nice and good service. I'm going back again soon.

    Pretty but soggy flautas

Order the flautas , they where not crispy and the meat had a sweet flavor to it. Inside the meat was all fat and the skin the hold the meat together.

This place is hidden gem! We've been for brunch twice and loved it. It's a newer restaurant so be sure to visit! Staff seems family oriented like the owners are operators, so it's nice to support a local small business. They did move from Mexico so you are getting some really good flavors and dishes. The enchiladas are flavorful and the verde sauce is amazing. We haven't had a bad dish yet, it's all so fresh and the meats are tender and well prepared. The vibe is fun and it makes you feel like you're not in a strip mall in LV lol. Parking is good. Seems there is a patio but no furniture, perhaps in Winter/Fall - I hope so!

Whenever my boyfriend and I craves chilaquiles this is the place we always go to! I get the stuffed chilaquiles divorced style and it's so good. It's so good that we won't even try other options in the menu. They serve in big portions and the drinks are great as well! It's a little far from home but always worth it for perfect chilaquiles. My boyfriend loves their café de olla, it tastes like a warm hug in a cup. So comforting.

Game with my wife and my daughter's to try a new style Mexican food. The place is very clean with modern design, The service was very fast and efficient and the food came out in less than 15 minutes! The ceviche came even faster... and it was delicious, authentic flavor as Mexican food with homemade tortillas and great Mexican salsa. Long story short, we will definitely come back because we love it

Love coming to eat here. Food is always tasty and never disappoints. Ambience is always great! Everyone is always friendly.

Food is good small portions though, Service is horrible you ask for anything they forget literally and put on the bill and you have to tell them you never received it. They get the order wrong at times as well.

    Queso fundido
    Marliz G.

Let's start this off with the reason I sought this restaurant out. We drove out of our way for their chilaquiles rellenos. And I was very disappointed when they got my order wrong, I had ordered the chilaquiles rellenos divorciados with steak. And was disappointed when I got regular chilaquiles. My husband ordered chilaquiles rellenos suizos with pork belly. As a starter we ordered queso fundido. Although I was disappointed with my order, I did mention it to the server and asked for them to take them off my bill, didn't want to pay for something I didn't get, which they were polite about and so was I. I made the best out of this and just ate what they brought, couldn't wait around for them to make a new dish. We are locals, so we had quite a drive ahead of us. Now I'm very picky when it comes to Mexican food. My mother was a very good cook and I loved all of her cooking, so unless it surpasses her cooking I'm not going to be very impressed with the food. So it wasn't like my mother's home cooking, but it came close. So I wasn't too disappointed. The place looked clean, it wasn't too noisy. They had music playing in the background. So it was a nice experience with good food. All in all delightful.

It's the Mexican restaurant you wish you had back home! Upscale interior plus modern fresh ingredients and high quality furnishings and service. I saw lots of people doing business here in Spanish at lunchtime. It's right near the airport. Menu is diverse and generous. Get in now before people "figure it out!"

I really like the interior decor which is like a very contemporary and upscale Mexican. They have a variety of table and booth seating and a large bar. Our server, Hunter, was very friendly and attentive. He always ended every interaction with "have fun!" I tried the "el corazon" sangria which was delicious! It had a wonderful, warm flavor with a light hint of cinnamon yet it was still cold and refreshing! A cool tip - each drink comes with a little card with a symbol on it and the drink ingredients. Save this card! At each table is a game board of sorts that offers various prizes as you match the cards on the game board sort of like bingo. We really enjoyed the complimentary chips and salsa, and we tried the traditional guacamole with vegetables as well. The guacamole was wonderfully cool and creamy and flavorful. For my entree, I tried the chicken fajitas which is served on a steaming platter with various accompaniments. This was also very delicious, and the chicken was quite flavorful and juicy. A small side note - it was served with a cous cous of sort, but I think I would've preferred a simple Spanish rice. The chicken portion size also seemed a bit smaller than when we get fajitas at Chili's. I would recommend you get double meat if you want to share. We decided to try the chocolate flan and the fried ice cream sundae for dessert. I preferred the flavor of the flan and the unique textures of the flan which had the jiggly caramel flan part on top of a more cake like chocolate part below. I honestly think the fried ice cream was not too good. It did not taste freshly fried, and the coating was very dry and brittle and hard to eat. I prefer the places that serve the fried ice cream warm with a very bubbly crust that is both crunchy outside and a bit soft inside. This was not that. Overall, though, we really enjoyed the dining experience here! We will probably return and try their weekday "Fajitas and Ritas" special! I recommend Hola!
