Blurry website pics, can't really see the food

I can't believe this place has been around as long as it has and their website has so few pictures, and the ones they have are blurry like taken with a 2010 Razr flip phone! The food is good enough, and the specials are what make it worth going. They really should focus on their online menu--like descriptions and pictures and PRICES , not just lists of what they have. Who wants to go when you see an add in the Local Smart Shopper for BOGO meals and such but you can't even find out how much food costs in the first place? It's 2025, get it together! *examples of blurry pics and menu without descriptions or prices shown posted.

I LOVE picante Mexican grill! They have some of my favorite Mexican food. We drive almost 30 minutes for it just because we love it so much. A divey little spot with AMAZING service and great food. When we can't decide where to go, we never say no to picante!

Went here on a date at her suggestion. End enjoyed the chips that were placed on our table soon after we sat down. The salsa had quite a kick. We got queso - which was very runny (we had to let it run of the chip like water from a pitcher to avoid getting it on everything) but was okay when it finally stopped running off of the tortillas. I had the Mexico City enchiladas. The cheese one was my favorite. The proteins were plentifully stuffed in the enchilada shells. The rice helped calm the spice of the salsa on top. It was a very good dinner save for the runny queso.

Although they were busy, we were seated immediately, and promptly greeted by our server. Excellent service and attentiveness. Food is good and portions generous. Only complaint is, I believe there is an exhaust fan issue in the kitchen - - your clothes will inevitably pick up an odor. Hopefully this matter gets addressed!!

I always liked this restaurant and the food they serve. A bit disappointed on my most recent visit. Our server wasn't very friendly. I always give people benefit of the doubt, in case, they are dealing with difficulties. We were seated, drink orders taken and then waited to give our dinner choices. He returned and took the order; then disappeared for the next 30 minutes. Suddenly, he appeared to drop our check off...without asking if we wanted drink refills, no checking if the food was all right, or if we wanted dessert. I had to flag down another server for a drink refill. Husband wanted another margarita, but after waiting so long, he changed his mind. No idea what the issue was for the employee. He has worked there a long time. He just didn't seem interested in providing any of his customers any interaction until time to pay the check. Food was excellent, by the way.

We go every Tuesday. Sometimes it is crazy busy sometimes not. I almost didn't want to write this because I don't want it to be more crowded than it is lol. We always have a great time , however Alex the one server is th best. He even remembers what we order... I am a creature of habit..lol. The food is always on point and hot. This is not a new hip Mexican restaurant there to impress all the fancy food snobs. This is just good Spanish comfort food and My favorite..margaritas servedhot and quick. It is clean and staff is great.

It is bright, cheerful and very clean. The menu has the typical Mexican restaurant options like tacos, fajitas, quesadillas, enchiladas and burritos and the also have a kids menu. I love their chorizo con huevo because not a lot of places have that kind of dish on their menu. It is chorizo (theirs has a great deal of flavor and isn't greasy like chorizo sometimes can be), onions, peppers and eggs. They serve it with tortillas and rice. Lots of food and packed with flavor. I have also tasted the enciladas and my husband loved the cowboy burrito. For drinks, especially during the summer they have awesome daily specials. I've tried the watermelon water and the cucumber lime. So very refreshing! Service is friendly and attentive and they are great about answering any questions that you might have about menu items. I highly recommend having lunch or dinner here and then heading next door to the creamery for delicious ice cream.

Service was slow, all of our dishes were served warm at best (mine was cold), only exception being the fajitas which were served steaming hot. I had enchiladas plus a taco. Not very flavorful and skimpy on the fillings. A lot of tortilla and sauce but very little meat. My wife had the chili rellenos and while deep fried on the outside the cheese inside wasn't melted. One friend had the dish that they serve flaming (can't recall its name and I didn't get a pic) and it was meh. The fish tacos also not a highlight. The steak fajitas were said to be pretty good. Also note, chips and salsa are not complimentary, they charge $3.50 for soda water and have a sign at the entrance notifying a 5% discount if paying cash (i.e. a 5% credit card fee). I'm not sure if this was just an off night for them or not but there are a few Mexican spots in the area that are consistently good (Plaza Azteca in White Oak and El Campesino in Monroeville). I likely won't try Madero again.

A Gem in Irwin! Gato…read moreTaco is one of those places we always enjoy coming back to. From the atmosphere to the service to, most importantly, the food, they have created something truly unique in Irwin. The tacos are wonderfully flavorful and anything but ordinary. Even the names make ordering fun--The Bob Dylan, The Yinzer, Hollywood, and my personal favorite, The Willie Nelson. With choices including chicken, fish, shrimp, pulled pork, beef, and short ribs, there really is something for everyone. The Willie Nelson is my favorite for good reason: tender short ribs topped with a vinegar slaw and their "Secret Weapon" sauce--a spicy, teriyaki-style sauce that brings everything together beautifully. It is an outstanding combination of sweet, tangy, spicy, and savory. We usually start with the chips and queso, and they certainly don't skimp on the portions. From there, it's on to the tacos--and we have never been disappointed. Our waitress was attentive, friendly, and made sure our glasses never went empty. Great food is important, but good service makes the whole experience better, and Gato Taco delivers on both. The atmosphere deserves a mention too. It has the character of a 1930s speakeasy, with exposed brick walls and original hardwood floors, yet it remains bright, welcoming, and comfortable. It feels historic without feeling dark or stuffy. We love finding local businesses that put personality, creativity, and care into what they do, and Gato Taco is truly a gem in Irwin. If you haven't tried it yet, give them a visit--and if you're wondering where to start, I'd recommend the Willie Nelson! Great food, great atmosphere, great service, and a local business worth supporting. We'll definitely be back!

The grilled shrimp tacos hardly had any shrimp (or any filling for that matter) in them and the shrimp were very tiny with an overly sweet and gooey chili sauce on them. I only ate one of the tacos because the taste didn't leave you wanting more. At least I saved calories, I guess. We went there because we were going to a concert across the street. If I'm ever in the area again, I definitely won't eat here, sorry to say.

We all remembered it so we decided to go back while visiting her again. Of course, we ordered the same margarita tower (which holds 80 oz of margarita). Maybe she'll order one the next time she visits. LOL. Unfortunately, I wasn't feeling well that day so I couldn't drink much. The "premium" margarita was the exact same house premixed margarita mix with a splash of slightly better tequila added to it. Nothing about it felt premium. Service was disappointing as well. Our waiter barely checked on the food and never really checked to see if we needed refills. Then came the churros. We ordered churros to go. The picture showed churros on a plate with chocolate on the side. What we received was completely covered in chocolate, canned whipped cream, and some kind of strawberry or cherry syrup. Honestly, I have no idea what it was because the red color looked completely unnatural. I asked the waiter for plain churros instead--not the overly Americanized, bastardized version we had just received. Apparently, "plain" meant SERIOUSLY plain. No sugar. No cinnamon. Nothing. At that point, we were done and headed up to pay, only to find out that paying with a card adds almost another $4 as an "admin fee." I sincerely hope that fee is being split with the staff, because believe me, no additional tip was left after this experience. This is not a place I will ever return to.
