Lots of people seem to like this place but I don't. One guy does all the cooking by an inexplicable method of combining various elements of multiple orders. The result is that part of everyone's order, when they finally get it, are cold. It's rather interesting to watch this guy juggle all the customers, but in the meanwhile we had to watch multiple music videos of the same artist, Justin Timberlake. The whole affair irritated me after a while and I was glad to escape this campy little tiny dive. It also struck me as rather grimy and marginally sanitary. This counter-service, no-frills diner - I'm informed - recently reopened under new ownership. This is a true throwback to simpler times. The breakfast sandwich was quite tasty and the homefries were delicious (and sliced fresh). The breakfast menu is simple and straightforward, with a variety of American breakfast choices. Wow! Do not let the outward humble appearance of this downtown Winchester, VA diner deceive you. The service this morning was absolutely outstanding - very attentive. Traditional old-school hole-in-the-wall diner run by a one man band who is a balletic wizard behind the counter, attentive, courteous, charming, friendly and -- a terrific short order cook. The diner grub is tasty and fresh and you watch him do everything, grate the spuds, crack the eggs, mix the batter and present you with a plate overloaded with diner goodness. Reasonably priced too. I stopped in around 2:30. As I walked in, I was greeted immediately and made to feel at home even though I was a first-timer. The young man running the grill was quite personable and surprisingly attentive given that he is s one-man show. I opted for the Breakfast Burrito- egg, cheese, chorizo and avocado with home fries. As my order was prepared, I was asked if I wanted onions in my home fries - yes, please. It was nice to be given a choice as some people don't like onions. The burrito arrived with a nice presentation and a HUGE mound of home fries along with a dipping sauce that was likely a mix of mayonnaise and ketchup. The burrito wasn't oversized which was actually a positive. The flavor was good although the avocado wasn't ripe which ruined the flavor and texture. The home fries were OUTSTANDING! Hot and nicely browned but,as expected, a bit bland but nothing a dash of hot sauce couldn't cure. The price with a drink came to $16 which was a bit steep but the food was fresh and clearly "right off the griddle". I'll be back to try some of their other options and hopefully some of their specials. read more

My husband and I discovered this hidden gem of a restaurant as we passed through Winchester VA in search of a local establishment. What a delightful experience. We were greeted by the owner, host, chef, waiter and delightful conversationalist,Abed. The meal (we had breakfast) was tailored to our own specific requests (I like egg white omelettes) and we had the privilege of watching him prepare our meals. It's counter only seating and cash only for now but based on the wonderful service and quality of food, I wouldn't be surprised if he has to expand to a larger venue. Had breakfast here this week. It is a real old style diner. The food is great and the new owner is so conscientious. In between cooking orders he was constantly cleaning and wiping the surfaces. He is friendly and polite and obviously cares for his business and customers. The food is great and I will definitely come again when in town. It is a real "hole in the wall" throwback diner. I don't review much (at all) , but if writing a review helps this place succeed then I can take 5 mins. Busy lunch counter style place. We were in for breakfast , when we arrived there were no spaces for my party of 3. The solo cook/server/greater addressed us with In seconds, offered us a coffee while still in the door way and told us it would be a few mins. He served a young family (3kids) pancakes and made each one fun and special for the kids . We got a seat when a happy gentleman got up, and cook was back to take our order . It was greatly entertaining watching him run a grill with 1/2 dozen orders on the go , changed gloves every time he handled cash or dirty dishes , made drinks , addressed regulars by name and asked if they wanted "the usual " . Our meal arrived , me corn beef hash, my partner pancake and egg, my daughter pancake . All were perfect . Highly recommend this place . read more

We had an hour and a half wait waiting for food. Because a large group came in after us. After waiting an hour we got the attention of our Server and pleaded for some bread or crackers or something because we were waiting so long. They brought out four tiny slices of garlic toast for our table of four. ( 2" x 1" and quarter inch thick) And when the food finally came everything was delicious. They also charged just for the garlic bread. That is why I'm giving it four stars. Because we feel as though because the food was delayed an hour and a half without anyone telling us. And we had to get the servers attention. And asked for anything that they could give us to hold us over, offering bread or some thing could have been on the house.The server also could've asked if we wanted our drinks refilled while we were waiting. The server could've even told us that there was going to be a delay in the first place. It was a little frustrating that the large table got the food before us. read more

He has been cooking since he was tall enough to reach the grill. I remember going to the Apple Valley Cafe that his family ran and seeing him after school in there cooking his little heart out. Had to only be 12 or so. I was sad to see them close down, But walked by The Piccadilly Grill one day and saw him working there and I have been a customer ever since. And now that he is the owner of the place, I make sure to get in there as much as I can. Everything he makes tastes like you made it at home. And the plates of food he serves are by far the biggest portions anywhere!! If I have ever given a good report on here, This is one I wish there was 10 stars!! His food is that good. Give it a try!! It kills me to have to write a bad review about a place especially one that has its own cool form of character. While searching out a decent quick early lunch spot we spotted the Piccadilly Grill so I checked Yelp to find they had good reviews. The overall feel of the place reminded me of a small hole in the wall dinner which I like unfortunetly this is were the positives ended. On our visit we opted for the 2 sliders a fry and a drink for 5 bucks (White Castle Style) 30 minutes into waiting for the food we decided we better get it to go as I stated above we were looking for a quick meal. After another 15 minutes we finally got our sliders, fries and drinks. That's a total wait time of 45 minutes. You actually sit right next to the grill and can watch the disorganized chaos take place in front of you which added to the wait time. Once we received our food we rushed back to our car, and popped it open. Ice cold buns, Non melted cheese, poorly cooked burgers and Fries that had not been fried long enough. Absolutly terrible food and we had to wait 45 minutes for this to boot. Overall I will not be returning to Piccadilly grill with all the other places to eat in Winchester they might want to consider changing there name to Picanother grill. The only reason I gave them 2 stars is for the atmosphere and the folks working were very nice other than that its not worth the time. read more

We travel a lot and diners are some of our favorite places to eat. Two days and a couple of states ago, we ate in a shiny metal diner in a touristy spot. It sucked - to the point where we were ready to take a break from diners. But after staying across the street from the Picadilly Grill at the GW Hotel and reading a review about the cook chopping potatoes for home fries, we thought we'd give it a shot. Sooooo glad we did. The two servers were amazing, treating the locals like family while serving up delicious eggs and coffee. After eating at Picadilly, we've come up with a new rule. No more shiny diners. That's it. We'll be frequenting the local spots that are lived in and have lasted fifty years. read more

We stopped in at Piccadilly Grill on a road trip from DC to Blackwater Falls. When we stopped off in Winchester for some breakfast we drove by Piccadilly and it piqued our interest. However, I was intimidated because I was unsure what the protocol was inside. From the outside, as we drove by, I saw people standing and it looked cramped. It really looked like a locals place, and I figured we would stick out like sore thumbs. We parked and took a walk down the pedestrian mall; not much was open or particularly busy, for that matter. We decided to head back to Piccadilly. When we entered we were immediately greeted by a sassy waitress behind the counter. Nearly all of the approximately 15 stools were taken on the long, L-shaped counter, but 2 remained for my girlfriend and me. We ordered: eggs, hotcakes, meat, and coffee. Initially, we chose bacon, and the sassy waitress's uncle threw it on the stove. Just then, out of the corner of my eye, I saw the uncle-chef making balls of meat and pressing them onto the flat top. Sausage! Hand-made, patty sausages! We asked if we could get a side order, but Piccadilly did us one better. They scrapped the bacon and swapped in sausage for us at no extra charge. We spoke with the uncle about the sausage and he said that it was made fresh, in house, seasoned only with salt and pepper. It is the best breakfast sausage I have ever had. The worst part of breakfast were the hotcakes. But that it like saying it was the worst kind of chocolate. At Piccadilly, they made us feel at home, treated us like family, and served us some phenomenal food. We will definitely be stopping in the next time we pass through! read more

My favorite breakfast place in Winchester! The Denver omelet is delicious and the home fries are fresh. Love to watch the chef prepare the food while the patrons sit at the counter seating. The seating is limited, but totally worth the wait. You can also order you food to go if you don't want to dine-in. It's an intimate environment and people who dine there are friendly. Well the service could be worse. Not sure how but, that's what I've always been told. Draft selection sucks and not sure how the food is because we ordered chicken tenders over an hour ago and sever forgot to put them in. My advice is to skip this palace and NEVER look back. read more
