We came here for dinner and once inside, you can feel the staff being super friendly. The sitting was a bit tight but not too overwhelming. They were super attentive and made sure me and my family had what we needed. The food we ordered was very good! Arugula salad with fresh beets, grilled octopus and the spread were also amazing. My main course was the short rib pappardelle and that was super delicious and tender. Overall, I would come back for sure.

We stopped at Piccante for dinner. Since their move it had been difficult to get in unless you had a reservation (still recommend you make one). But we lucked out on getting in without a reservation. Server was friendly and took our order right away. We started with a mixed green salad which we shared. Then my husband had the chicken marsala and I had the spinach ravioli. Both very delicious. Piccante took over the space that had once been Sancho's Spanish restaurant. Some of the original decor is there but the new owners have made it their own and added special touches to make it Piccante's style. Very nice ambiance and well lit.

UPDATED REVIEW- New location is great! Spacious! Service was good. Food- arancini was great, the sauce was spicy. Grilled calamari with pesto sauce was cooked perfectly. I personally prefer a bit more of the pesto sauce but that's just me. Meat & cheese board was decent. Gnocchi with spicy sausage was great! I wish the sausage was a bit more spicy the chocolate cake and ice cream- AMAZING!!

The service was good. The papperdelle with short rib ragu was delicious as was the linguini with seafood (not pictured). We liked the pesto grilled calamari. The salmon could have been cooked a little less. Tiramisu was very good and a very big piece. It was very shareable.

I highly recommend trying this Italian place if you are looking for something good to eat in bay ridge. They do get packed so make sure you call to reserve. You might not be able to get a table if you don't reserve in advance. I will definitely be coming back here to try their other dishes. You can't do wrong with anything really. I recommend their seafood risotto, one of my fav. I also enjoyed their gnocchi, you are able to substitute the protein I went with their sweet sausage instead of their spicy since I know my son doesn't like spicy. My son is a picky eater but he really enjoyed the gnocchi it's so fluffy and airy! Their customer service is spot on !

Went to their old location and was worried they had gone out of business because they were our go to for Italian but they had actually moved. The new location has more seating which was needed as they were getting more customers and now has a fully stocked bar. It also had a bit of a rustic feel to it though it is a bit too loud. Number of staff increased as well. I had ordered the chicken and mushroom risotto and my wife had the seafood risotto. Food wise they were pretty much the same taste however I felt the portions did shrink a little but that could be due to inflation. Overall it's still my go to for Italian.

Great experience! Service was great! Ambiance was so nice and cozy! Food was fantastic! I got the braised short rib pasta and the calamari marinated in pesto which may have been the best calamari I've ever had... It is definitely the standout item for me here that I would say you have to get. Everything else was very solid and tasted so fresh!! The only thing I've tried that was a little underwhelming was the ravioli which I felt like could've had a little bit more going on but was still enjoyable just not as good as other dishes I've tried.

Been here when they first open and forgot to leave a review bitbobam glad they stuck around and survived covid and now with a fuller menu and now back here again. The place was packed at 5:30 pm on a Sat night! We didn't ha r w reservation but maybe we need one if coming later in the night. We loved what we ordered and it is a lovely small restaurant and great food.

Service was excellent, considering that there was only one waitress. She was kind and kept checking up on our table. I see her working hard to keep up with each guests accommodations. The restaurant itself was very small, a couple tables from the front of the restaurant to the back. Although, the restaurant was small, it was very decorative. We ordered fried calamari: crunch , fresh , taste Short rib Ragu: texture of the pasta was good, wasn't salty, in fact there was some sweetness to it that I personally enjoyed Spaghetti with clams, shrimp, squid: light sauce, cooked very well. Hanger steak: looked appetizing, cooked at medium rare. Although it was on the tough side and a bit challenging to chew. Chicken Marsala: dry breast but the mushrooms and potatoes had much flavor. Grilled salmon: cooked well. Tiramisu: you can taste that it's homemade, the cream was very light, the texture of the lady fingers paired well with the cream and able to taste the espresso. Very underrated place. It's a must try !

I walked over on a Friday evening and didn't mind the 20 minute wait for a table for 1. After reading the reviews. I decided the grilled calamari was definitely the way to start and I was not disappointed. It is a decadent appetizer longing to be shared. The table bread aand sauce were phenomenal. Yes, I ordered a bottle of wine based on my server's recommendation. I intended to take some home...didn't happen! Drank the entire bottle myself. The chicken and mushroom linguini was excellent, even if the chicken itself was a little rubbery. It was protein and it was consumed as such. The cream sauce was awesome and laid so nicely with the table bread. I had to stop myself from finishing the dish. It was quiet enough to have a conversation, or at least eaves drop ok the tables next to me. The light jazz in the background was perfect! Reasonably priced with plenty to take home for my daughter. The wait staff was attentive and very concerned when it took some time to arrive at the table. I wasn't concerned because I was here to kill time so it worked for me.

Piccante is a small hole in the wall restaurant as another Yelper described, and I agree. It is honestly a GEM! For appetizer we got the prosciutto and mozzarella which wasn't anything too exciting. I probably won't be getting the prosciutto again but open to trying the other appetizers next time. However the star of the show are the entrees! The pasta is homemade and you can just taste the care that is taken with each dish. We got the pescattore risotto, honey braised short rib ragu, spinach ricotta ravioli and clam pasta. Everything was so delicious! The two dishes that stood out the most were the risotto and spaghetti with white wine sauce. My family literally could not stop eating the risotto, you just keep eating bite and after bite. I'm normally not the biggest fan of seafood rice but this hits the spot. The spaghetti with white wine sauce has plump clams that you just don't see nowadays. It wasn't the shredded looking sad clams that you normally get from cans. I only had 3 pieces of pasta because I didn't want to take too much from my Dad. Let's just say he was raving about this dish and cleaned that plate. For dessert we got the tiramisu and strawberry panna cotta to go! I don't like coffee so I strawberry panna cotta was a great way to end the night for me. My mom loved the tiramisu but wished it had more cake. The service was fantastic but the wait was very long. After the bread, we waited about 45minutes (Saturday night) just for our first dish to come out. To be fair there was only 1 server for the whole restaurant and it was packed. However, when all the pastas came out they were hot and smelled incredible. You kind of just forget about the wait once you get your first bite. Dishes were very affordable for the portion size! Can't wait to come back!

Have eaten here twice since it opened a month ago, once with my son and then with my wife and a friend. Both times everything has been excellent. Between us we've tried some of the pastas, chicken, and bass. Also loved the Brussels sprouts with pancetta, mashed potatoes, and fresh roasted peppers. Everything is cooked perfectly, homemade and very fresh. Staff is both friendly and accommodating. read more

What a find! The food was outstanding and the menu while not huge covered all the bases. My dining party had the rigatoni, spinach ravioli, and salmon. The calamari was the best I have had, light and tasty. The server was one of the owners and was welcoming and engaging. We will be back, a wonderful dining experience. read more

Came here for the first time tonight. Very cute place. The owners we very attentive and friendly. Food was delicious. We had the piccante pasta, the chicken risotto, the steak and a carbonara pasta special. All of it was delicious. We will be back! read more

I've been ordering since they opened but since the quarantine I'm up to ordering at least once a week. Although there are only a few pastas I can eat (I'm allergic to mushrooms) the ones I can are delicious and the desserts are on point. Oh, and lest I forget to mention the brussel sprouts. Try them, you won't be disappointed. read more

My boyfriend and i have found our own little italian restaurant in our neighborhood. Hands down the best homemade pasta in bay ridge. Theres something very special about this place and its not just the food that draws us in. The staff are wonderful people, its what a small business is truly about. My husband and I decided to try out Piccante this week. They give you some homemade rolls to start off with. Crunchy and yummy. The bread comes with some sort of tomato sauce for dipping. We had a caprese salad which I would eat as a main dish there because the fresh mozz was SO GOOD. So creamy and delish. My husband had the spinach ravioli in a brown butter sauce which was delicious. This dish looked and tasted like it should be in a fine dining restaurant. Plated simply and beautifully. I had the pork ragu with fettuccine. It was good. I love the taste of the fresh pasta. The sauce was good but maybe could have used a bit more flavor. For dessert we shared the chocolate lava cake, no one can really mess that up. All in all, a nice little place.. It could be a great little place with some warmer decor. I wish them well and hope they become a Bay Ridge staple. read more

Ridiculous & terrible service. Waited 1.5hours. They kept saying food is almost ready. I had 2 hungry kids waiting to eat. After pressing for more information with the delays and cranky kids, all they could say is 25 more minutes...after 2 hours I had to get food from somewhere else. read more

Piccante is such a cute and cozy restaurant. Immediately we were greeted by Luis and he showed us the specials that rotate regularly. We ordered the butternut squash with the mozzarella and mushrooms with a balsamic vinegar reduction for the appetizer and it was generously portioned and delicious. The mozzarella melted in my mouth and the sauce was sweet which complemented the earthy flavors of the dish. Mom and I ordered the bolognese sauce with rigatoni and after asking if we could have it cooked extra soft, it was no issue. He informed us each dish is made to order. It was one of the best versions of the sauce that I have ever tried. The vegetables of carrots and celery were finely chopped, it had a richness and a thickness to it and sweetness from the vegetables. My fiance ordered the striped bass which he thoroughly enjoyed. It was nice and cool on a hot day as well inside which I appreciated. It was worth the train trip from Woodhaven to Bay Ridge! read more

This is the best and I mean the best place to go in Bay Ridge for classic Italian food. Honestly you know when good food is near and I knew it from the second I walked in. The setting is clean and organized they have different types of wine on their selves. Don't get tempted people. Our waitress Marta was very helpful and so kind on our journey of delicious food and drinks. The tiramisu was so sweet and you could really taste the espresso. There's only one word to describe this place. Perfection. read more

I needed some pasta and I'm glad that I came to this place. I was greeted warmly and instantaneously seated. I ordered a glass of wine and the bolognese, so good! I was completely stuffed by the time that I finished. They have fish on the menu, when I come back I'll try that next. read more

Came in from Connecticut for a late lunch on Friday afternoon.Nice little family restaurant near 72st in Bay Ridge.I had Palermo style homemade fettucine with eggplant and moozarella.Delicious,good portions.Homemade pasta was excellent.Finished off great lunch with a glass of Chianti,and an espresso.Cant wait to bring my father.Marta was a sweetheart. read more

Homemade pasta, homemade bread, good wine, excellent service, what more could I have wanted. I took a friend here for dinner recently and we loved it...the pasta was cooked perfectly and you've never tasted better bread. I couldn't believe the bread was homemade as well. Small place, great service, owners are super friendly. You wait a bit for your dinner but believe me, its so worth it, no matter what you order. Looking forward to going back. read more

Posting review right after our fabulous meal here. Just couldn't forget how everything was so wonderful here. There was one server who tries her best serving the whole restaurant so you could say the service was a bit slow but it was definitely worth the wait. We had chicken and mushroom risotto, carne and a dinner special grilled salmon as well as both the grilled and fried calamari. We also drank to some fine white wine. We also got the mixed beet salad which was very fresh. Risotto is to die for I am not sure how we are going to wait till our next visit. Idont want to write a whole essay here so to sum it up, You are missing out big time so stop stalling and give this place a chance to awe your senses asap lol. read more

The food here is absolutely delicious. I always order their risotto with mushroom and chicken for takeout and I am never disappointed. The meal is always creamy and the bread pairs perfectly well with the remaining sauce. I discovered this place back about a year ago when they were still growing their business and I'm glad (and somewhat sad) that they've picked up. This place is such a hidden gem in Bay Ridge and I wish them continued success! read more

Great place .Great service -Priced right and excellent food . The pasta dishes are great -I had the fettuchini pescatora .excellent . Salmon dish very good -good wine priced reasonable -would like it if they had liquor license and more ambiance but that's what makes this place what it is .For the value and service and food you can not beat it .. overall solid A read more

The waitress was super nice and is very helpful when recommending what to order. The food here deserves 6 stars (delicious). They really know how to cook. The issue is it takes forever for the food to come out. Make sure you come with people you can have a long conversation with. They should really add another person in the kitchen read more

How do I start? The food is good. Very good. There are many, many Italian restaurants in Bay Ridge that are also good. If you want to set yourself apart with homemade pasta you have to give the customer a bigger portion. Yeah more pasta. It's cozy and has a family feel but the tables are cafeteria like. No table cloths. One of our party ordered salmon and it was smaller than tiny...for $19.95. Again the rest of our food was good but for the price we should have gotten more food. Beer was $7. I know it was mother's day but the wait was VERY long. Will we go back??? read more

Best risotto selection and they are all delicious. Grilled calamari and arugula beet salad were amazing too. Lost a star for the desserts cuz it was nothing special and expensive. Will definitely go back for more risotto. read more

My wife and I are staying in Bay Ridge for the weekend while working in Brooklyn. We had to come to the place that has 5 stars. It was WELL WORTH IT! Right now we are here for the second time. The trio of owners are so warm and inviting. The food is out of this worldly. You have to try the pesto marinated grilled calamari. I can't quite describe in words how good it is was. The fennel salad was so delicious. Then came the gnocchi. WOWZERS! my wife had the seafood pasta. It took a second to find the pasta under all the seafood. Now we're here ready for steak and salmon. The place is so good that we are siting here writing the review as we await the second meal, knowing it will be exceptional. That is what this place is. When we were debating coming in the first time, a guy was walking by and talking to himself saying, Piccante is delicious. We overheard him and asked what he said. He insisted that we eat there. He lives in the neighborhood and comes here weekly. Anyway, this is the longest review I've ever posted. But this place is worth the accolades. Eat here. Definitely worth 5 Stars. read more

The place is so quaint, I loved it. Everything is homemade. The spread they give with your dinner roll was amazing. I wanted to take some home. I have the fettuccine with mushroom and shrimp in a white wine sauce, it was delicious. My husband had the risotto with calamari was fantastic. The tiramisu was awesome. Would totally recommend coming here, I know I'll be back. read more

My wife and I were looking for a very good Italian restaurant in Bay Ridge and decided to try the food here because they cater to people with food allergies. I was amazed by how great everything tasted. My wife could not eat the rolls so I could not let hers go to waste. Hmmmm good. That was just the start. I can not recommend one thing because everything was so good that I intend to try everything on the menu. read more

Delicious Italian food. All the pasta is handmade on the premise daily. The meal started with warm bread accompanied by a delicious olive, rosemary, and tomato sauce. We chose fried calamari as our appetizer, and it did not disappoint. We ordered a special and a regular pasta and both were divine. We will be returning. 5 stars! read more

If you are looking for authentic Italian food - cooked just like Nona does for Sunday supper, this is the place. EVERY SINGLE DISH IS EXCELLENT! The place is small but the flavor is BIG. Have eaten here four times. I happen to always sit by the large picture window and "thumbs up" to everyone who passes by. This is a hidden jewel in Bay Ridge. read more

Our chef has worked in Italian restaurants for more than 10 years working on the restaurant business in New York. We love food, and we love people, so we join the two worlds in Piccante. Our satisfaction is seeing our guests leaving with a smile in their face and a full and happy stomach.

For the main entree, I selected traditional lasagna verde with three meat Ragù and Bechamel, while my partner chose homemade fettuccine al Ragù with pork and beef. We had a wonderful dinner here. The food was all delicious and came in timely fashion. We will definitely come back here to try the other dishes on their menu.

Passion project - delicious drink with notes of passion fruit, chocolate, and some spices. The others in my group also had the duck (which they found to be a bit overly loaded with duck fat) and the reginette (which they enjoyed). I'd love to see a more balanced vegetarian main course make it on the menu sometime. The bill for 4 people came to nearly $230 after tax and tip.

On this occasion, I was visiting as part of my work responsibilities. The individuals I support are on limited incomes and cannot afford meals from establishments such as yours, so they bring their own lunches while staff members purchase food and beverages from your business. A manager approached us and informed us that outside food was not permitted, even though purchases had been made. We were then asked to leave and eat outside in the hot weather. I understand that businesses have policies regarding outside food, and I respect the need to enforce them. However, I believe this situation could have been handled with greater compassion and understanding, given that the group consisted of individuals with disabilities who rely on packed lunches due to financial limitations. As someone who has consistently supported your establishment, I was disappointed by the lack of flexibility and empathy shown. Unfortunately, because of this experience, I will no longer be bringing my business or the individuals I support to your establishment. I hope this feedback encourages your management team to consider a more accommodating approach when serving members of the disability community in the future.

I had the absolute pleasure of dining at Piccante tonight, and I'm beyond impressed! Even though it was a Monday night, the place was completely packed-- clearly, word has gotten out about their new location, and for good reason. The food took a little longer than expected, but honestly, it was worth the wait. Every dish we ordered was full of flavor, fresh, and beautifully presented -- you could tell real care went into it. Special shoutout to our waiter, David, who made the night even better. Despite how busy it was, he was attentive, friendly, and genuinely made us feel taken care of without ever rushing us. His recommendations were spot-on too! Overall, a fantastic experience -- can't wait to come back and try even more off the menu. Piccante definitely just became one of my new go-to spots! read more

Piccante is a small and cozy place with great food. The owners are hands on and make you feel welcome as soon as you walk in. Due to their popularity, it's best to call and make a reservation. We have tried several items both from the menu and the specials board. My husband and I really enjoy their Milano pasta, chicken and mushroom risotto, and side of Brussels sprouts.
