We celebrated two birthdays here last night and Piccolo's did not disappoint! Kaylee, was our server and she was truly a 10-star server! The manicotti with blush was excellent. The others had eggplant parmesan and said it was the best they had ever eaten. One ate Italian nachos and did not care for it, but she's often times disappointed with what she orders in restaurants. The bread sticks were right out of the oven and excellent. The salads were fresh and very good. The dressing was outstanding and one person in our group bought a big bottle of it to take home. The birthday ladies were gifted a dessert. We all tasted the amazing lemon cake and Tiramisu and both were delicious beyond words. Parking is right out front with easy access. Reservations are recommended. We ate early at 4pm when they opened on a weekday. Highly-recommend it, if you're one that dines early. They offer a separate room for big groups. Piccolo is definitely a gem in this part of town. Visiting from a small farm in Purdy, MO, there's not too many options, let alone a solid Italian restaurant. At first glance at the menu, I was pleased to see how affordable the restaurant is. Hands down, this place beats Olive Garden to a pulp, but is it the absolute best Italian I've ever had? No, but the value is worth nothing. My brother, mother, and got three different dishes. I got to have a little taste of everything. I thought their tri-tip steak most certainly tender with a great color and temperature. It paired nicely with the au jus, which was savory but lacked some richness--still, I would absolutely prefer it with rather than without. Scallops were seared ideally and also were soft to cut. This chef has wonderful temperature control. The flavor, however, was a bit lacking, but there were some additives at the table, such as lemon and salt that could be used at the customer's discretion. The eggplant parmesan was breaded and fried well with a crunchy outer texture and soft but not mushy interior. The seasoning on them was balanced and flavorful. Spaghetti was... spaghetti; it's a classic dish--its nothing exciting, but you definitely wouldn't be upset if you ordered it expecting a classic take on the pasta. I found their presentation of the carni ravioli to be quite exciting, however, I was quickly disillusioned after taking my first few bites. I quickly began to think, "why didnt I just get lasagna?" To me this was basically a Italian sausage deep dish pizza without the crust but instead replaced by thicker, al denta pasta dumplings scattered within this bath of tomato and cheese. As with anything, Italian sausage can be extremely overpowering (saltiness). I would've much preferred having even layers of pasta sheets with ricotta cheese and maybe lessen the sauce to pasta and meat ratio. Alas, out of the three dishes, this was my least favorite, but it certainly is a beaut, and if you happen to love Italian sausage and love to get full on ravioli, this may actually be a knockout for you. I thought we got placed with a pretty good waitress. I found her very quirky, funny, sweet, and attentive. My family thought she was a bit intense, but I appreciated her additions to the conversation. Waters were never empty and food came out at a pretty reasonable pace, so full points there. There seems to be a little bit of condensation drip issues from the above ventilation that some customers next to us were complaining about, but otherwise, this place is a lovely restaurant with a lot of charm. I'm so glad they opened back up. Last night I went with a friend who had never been.. I was just going to do the regular eggplant Parmesan or chicken Parmesan because I've had theirs and I know it's amazing. Someone suggested the seafood cannoli. I'm so glad I tried it. It was phenomenal. You could taste all the seafood and got big chunks of lobster, shrimp and scallops in it. The server was so nice to sub out the side of pasta for a different side and I chose the jalapeño brûléed corn. Oh my goodness. So good! They never disappoint on quality. I came out for a mom's night out with four other moms on a fun Saturday night. All the other moms have been to this restaurant many many times, and they all had regular menu items that they all raved about. I was the lone first timer. We ordered the nachos as an appetizer and the rest of us had either salmon or pizza or pasta as our main dish. The portion sizes are generous in between the appetizer and the meal we were satisfied and we didn't need dessert. This seems to be the place that everyone goes to as their go to night out. Best Italian food in the Springfield area. I'm not a big Italian food fan but the authenticity and flavor in their food changed my mind. The Italian nachos are amazing as are many of their entrees. I've tried about half of the menu and haven't been disappointed. The family that owns it also there everytime and usually come by during our meal just to chat. If you're within an hour of Piccolo, it is WORTH the drive for an amazing Italian experience. For context, we spent ~$25 per person for a table of 5 and this was incredibly reasonable. First off, the Spinach Dip Skillet and Cheddar Bacon Rollups are phenomenal table sharing appetizers. We were so excited to find Piccolo, the continuation of the legacy started at D'Arpino's Italian Cafe. We ate at D'Arpinos for years but moved away before it closed. I have craved the cheese tortellini since but thought I'd never get anything close to it again. So when I saw it on the menu, I couldn't wait to try it--SO good and just as I remembered! My husband chose the Carni Ravioli with a side of homemade meatballs and he raved about how delicious it was. The pastas were served with salads and garlic bread making it a great value. We stopped into Piccolo on a whim after moving in across the street, and it quickly became one of our favorite spots. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was stunning--cozy yet sophisticated, with a modern vibe that made us feel like we were dining in a big city. Everyone, from the hosts to the servers, was incredibly friendly and attentive. Their focus on guest satisfaction and attention to detail was clear, and I appreciated that no one was distracted by cell phones. It was refreshing to see a team so dedicated to creating a wonderful experience for their guests. The menu was a delight--so many amazing choices that it was hard to decide! We finally settled on the Cheese & Bacon Lasagna Roll-Ups as an appetizer, followed by the Cheese Tortellini and Chicken Parmesan for our entrées. Everything was incredible--10/10 on flavor, presentation, and portion size. For dessert, we indulged in a slice of fresh strawberry cake, which was the perfect way to end the meal. Every bite was worth the price and then some. We loved Piccolo so much that we immediately booked an 8-top for the following weekend to celebrate my birthday. I can't recommend this place enough--it's the perfect spot for making memories, and I'm excited to return many more times. Finally get to take the kids here to eat. It was a busy sunday and they have a table for us, make me so excited. Its been a long time that I have eaten here. The best thing they have here was the garlic bread and cheese stick! It was very addicting and one of the best I ever have. We all got different pastas and it was super yummy!! The kid got spaghetti and meatball and seafood ravioli. I got one of the specialty pasta, forgot the name, but it was stuff seafood cheesy pasta roll with lobster bisque sauce. It was very yummy. Nice atmosphere and pretty decent food. The mozza knots were not worth getting and were very tasteless. The salads were both great. The complimentary garlic bread was fantastic! My aunt liked her pork chops a lot, and loved the creamed corn even more. Maybe I've had a lot of gnocchi but this was one of my least favorite gnocchi dishes--it seemed like it was packaged gnocchi you could get from the grocery story and not cooked. The combo of pan-seared U10 Scallops and grilled Argentinian pink shrimp basking in their roasted spicy cream sauce and with the thicc fettuccine noodle was a true chef's kiss! My daughter got the 1855 Ribeye grilled to a true medium rare. Let's just say as a steak connoisseur, I have to step up my grilling game. Perfectly seasoned with a nice crust searing and the melting butter on top took my tastebuds for a cruise down tasty lane. She leveled the garlic mashed potatoes like they weren't even there, so I didn't get to try them. Daughter's BF got the grilled salmon and he's the pickiest eater I've ever allowed in my house. He ate the whole thing and said it was the best meal he's ever had.. That's an entire review all in itself if you ask me. The Salted Carmel Butter Torte, oh my. They say "save the best for last" while everything was the best it was the best thing to finish the entire experience. I'll be having dreams about this dessert. It's almost indescribable. It was alright. I wouldn't go there for a special occasion but it's nice. It has the basic fare to choose from that you'd expect from a smaller size Italian place. I got the chicken parmesan which was cooked well, and the pasta was cooked just right. It was a good atmosphere, the staff was extremely nice as well. I give it a four out of five simply because there was nothing fancy going on there. It would, though, need nice enough for a first date. I will go back if I'm in the area. read more

What a gem! Found their listing on Yelp! It was a Wednesday evening and we arrived between 5 and 5:30. We didn't have a reservation and there were no tables available for 2 hours! They could seat us on the heated patio....so glad we accepted their invitation. Service was wonderful and the food was amazing. There were four of us. Best Italian in Nixa, Springfield, Ozark, SOMO hands down!!!! Lunch on Sunday; luckily, we were able get a table as they do recommend calling in advance to scheduling a reservation. Appetizer: Fried Beef Raviolis B+ All it needs is a heavier dusting of parm. The marinara was on point and tasted homemade. Entrees: (2) Chicken Parm that comes with a side of Fettuccine Alfredo A- Outstanding flavor, the chicken was cooked flawlessly, and the breading was nearly perfect. The marinara again was on point with flavor. (1) Italian Trio - Lasagna, cheese-stuffed manicotti and beef-stuffed raviolis (not fried like the appetizer) All three complimented each other so the dish didn't become a one note symphony of flavor. The entrees all came with your choice of House or Caesar salad. This is my only negative comment. The kitchen was a little heavy handed with the dressing on both the House and Ceasar salads. Now, most restaurants you are begging for more dressing, so erroring on the side of too much, is okay with me. Desserts 1. Tiramisu - The best in Springfield 2. Salted Caramel Butter Torte - Solid B+ (A sprinkling of powdered sugar would put it over the top) 3. Chocolate "Bella" Cannoli - Now I'm not a Cannoli fan, but this Cannoli was good! I would not hesitate to recommend Piccolo's to anyone who is asking advice on where to have a night lunch on the weekend or a more formal dinner during the week. Stopped in on our way back from Branson. I loved that there are vegan options. The "cheese" in the vegan knots melt in your mouth. I got the vegan house salad, which had a bit too much dressing on it but was a good size salad portion. I would ask for dressing on the side. The vegan pesto was lovely. This was a terrific find! We were trying to go to Lambert's but it was just too busy so we landed here on a Sunday afternoon. The service was impeccable! The food was very good. I had the eggplant which I'd highly recommend. The bread sticks are great and everyone liked those. One son ordered buffalo dish and did not like so u shared mine as portions are large. Another ordered fettuccine and liked it but I tasted and felt it was too much garlic so I didn't take that home. Get a traditional dish here and can't go wrong.
