Went here looking specifically for a new wheel for my car. Apparently, even though they list prices for wheels, it is now their policy to strip wheels from cars and send them to recycling. It took talking to three people to find this out, and I had to pay an entrance fee to discover this. There is no indication on their website that this is their policy, and no indication on their price list that you won't be able to find a wheel. This feels like nothing but shady practice. I had to waste an entry fee and a couple hours of my time to find this out. Of course, the entry fee is nonrefundable. They should be forthright about what they do and don't have, _in general_, available before you go in. I'm not saying that they need to maintain an inventory of every part--that would be impossible!--but if they remove ALL of a particular part, then it would really be nice to know that before going in, so you don't waste your time. Especially since their price list, both on their website AND at the yard itself, says that they do sell the part in question and lists a specific price for it. Then again, they got their money from me, so, apparently, why should they care? Who knows what else they'll strip off without telling you if you're looking for a specific part? read more

I will say that this is a nice large lot. Probably 2,000+cars. This was also a negative for me. The only lot that listed the car we needed was this one and it was in the far corner, which is about 1/4 mile walk from the front gate. We arrived and the car wasn't there. We even thuroughly searched within 20 rows of that spot and were still unable to locate it. The "customer service" reps at the front gate said "there wasn't much they could do" but thanked us for the $4 entry fee ($2 per person). So they basically profited from false advertisement and were unwilling to correct the problem. I will check their stock again in a week, but I doubt they intend to even update that even with them knowing a whole car is missing. read more

Having frequented nearly all the self-service auto junkyards in California, this is the biggest yard of its type in the bay area. On the upside they tend to have more cars available than the other PNP's, the downside is the cars sit around for a while and inventory isn't refreshed as frequently as you might see elsewhere -- occasionally you'll see cars sitting around for up to 6 months. There's usually an excellent taco truck out front, and being out by the shoreline salt ponds it's a fairly quiet place to be if you spend time here. I'd have to say the staff here are amongst the worst I've seen at a PNP where it matters when getting parts. Watch out for the younger cashier with a ponytail; shorted me on change once, another time wanted to charge for a part I didn't have. Find another cashier if you can. Also been hassled trying to exchange a part from another PNP, passing the buck back on to the original yard. Other PNP's have been more accommodating with parts from other locations. read more

Staff behavior is not good, they are so happy when you buy and very sad when you return, i was waiting for more than 15minutes in the cold just to return a gas bump that was not working! i bought a day before and they refused to give me my money they said we will give you a store credit which forcing me to comeback again Cars are so old and dirty. parts are not that cheap comparing to used parts. read more

Called them up to find out what my car would be worth as scrap. It runs but the transmission is going out, the registration is paid in full but I haven't bothered to smog it yet. It really just needs two or three replacement parts related to the transmission and it'll run just fine. Did I mention that its curb weight is 3,084 lbs according to manufacturer's specifications and a whole lot of those lbs are solid iron and steel? They offered me $64 to take my car. Not a typo, a whole sixty-four dollars to take my currently running car and part it out at their facility to sell for way, way more than $64. I've never felt insulted by a price quote until today. The iron alone is worth way more than this BS quote. The battery all by itself is worth more than this BS quote. read more

Costs two dollars to get in. Even if you show them the bent part you're going to repalce, they won't tell you what they're going to charge until you pay your two dollars, find a replacement and bring it back to the window. Saw online that they had a large inventory of cars like mine. I would highly recommend checking the inventory like that before you go. Found my parts: A strong metal bracket from the bottom of the car, a running light from the front, and a reflector. Total cost about $40. Seemed like a pretty good price to me. I didn't haggle. It was a pretty busy place. Met some nice people. Most were quietly busy searching for their parts or taking them off the wrecks. If you want something that's in short supply, better try to figure out how to get there when a new car like yours comes in. Looked like a lot of engines were already gone. Lots of dash and interior door parts too. You might want to bring an old piece of rug or something to lay on if you'll be crawling under the cars in the mud, (or you can find some pieces inside the cars to lay out.) I was there on a Friday, mid-day. Looked for the great taco truck mentioned by others, but all I saw was a Lee Brothers roach coach. Very sad. We needed a new seat belt for our old Ford Explorer. The dealer wanted $$$, if they could even get ahold of one that would fit. My husband went to Pick-N Pull, and came back with one for $ 12. He said it was very well organized. Only downside, our 12-year-old was not allowed in for liability reasons. read more

I love wandering around the pick n pull just to see what I can find. Good treasure-hunting adventure for me I guess haha. Of the pick n pulls I've been to, this one is definitely the best. Well organized, HUGE selection and seem to have a lot more 4 wheel drive trucks and suv's than the others which is what I'm into. Prices are pretty good, but the entrance fee and slightly higher prices than a place like pick-your-part (which closed) make it lose 1 star. Overall, a great place to find some cheap auto parts. Staff is very friendly and some of them are very humorous! Went there on Labor Day weekend to pull out a complete A/C system for my '91 Acura Integra. To my surprise it was HALF OFF on everything! Labor Day weekend special. No wonder that place was PACKED. Well, the early bird gets the worm! I do recommend bringing someone along because doing this by yourself sucks, especially if you're going to be ripping out a complete unit, whether it be an engine or something else. It's a good idea to bring a dolly or something that you can put your tools in and/or auto part, because their wheel barrows they provide are heavy as hell. Bringing along your own soap is advisable because at the end of a long and sweaty day, the abrasive soap they provide at the checkout is long gone. I forgot the admission, but it's pretty low. They stamp your hand after you pay and it's good for the whole day. Prices are very VERY reasonable, that is if you can find the part. Just like the other reviewer said, these cars are exposed to the elements and it's a free for all, so first come first served. I got very lucky for my salvage because I was the first one to touch it! On another note, if you're someone wanting to learn how to take things apart on a car, please go here first and find your car year and model, before working on your own car. First timers, damage will happen whether you like it or not, best to do it to one of those cars out there, and not YOURS. Learn from your mistakes and then proceed to "fix" your car. read more

If it's VW stuff you're looking for, this is the place to be. Early watercooled VWs are abundant here, so I frequent this yard more than any other in the bay area. If you can't find what you need for your MK1/2/3, then you might want to reconsider your brand of choice. read more

If I could give this pick n pull zero stars, I would. Lost my car keys and they took down my number so they could call me back if someone turned them in except for the fact that I'm calling and calling and no one ever answers. I haven't spoken to any employee ever and I've been calling for days. DAYS. 5 days to be exact. The first time I called, they hung up on me. Not even a hello or anything. I called the buying office and asked to be transferred to the yard cashiers but they said that they couldn't. And yes, I'm calling during normal business hours. This is unprofessional and unacceptable. I just want to check if someone turned in my lost car keys without having to go back there again. HANDS DOWN WORST PICK N PULL IN THE BAY AREA. I just went because it was the closest one near me but I'm never going back there again. HORRIBLE service. And I demand an apology. read more

Very disorganized, very uncaring to their customers. We called to ask for a radiator and fan for an acura tl, 2.5. We made it perfectly clear that the part be compatible and from the same model type, as engine size matters. They tell us they have the part, so we make the long 1:hr45min trip to grab the part. It didn't fit. We drive all the way back and were stonewalled with their no refund policy, despite our exchange not being what was agreed upon, and despite being lied to in regards to compatibility. (First they said it was for a 2.5, now they said their system had no way of showing engine specs. When asked why their employee would claim compatibility with no way of knowing, they shrugged. A car parts collector without basic inventory info... hmm.) They offered store credit, but not even the courtesy of calling their other business locations to verify part inventory and compatibility. In fact, the manager said there would be nobody competent enough to check. What a nice way to establish faith in their business. We're taking them to small claims. "Well, if I leave it here over the weekend, can you give me a jump on Monday?" "Nope," returned the witch as she snatched a fly out of the air, crunched it between her fingers and dropped it into her cauldron. Zero help, and it looked increasingly like the dot matrix wasn't going to be resurrected anytime soon. I strode back out into the sunlight. My only shot: the Newark Pick-N Pull, 20 miles down the road. I was sure I didn't have the gas for it, but couldn't get gas because of the whole 'turn off your engine' thing at the gas station. I mean I didn't want to blow up half of Oakland. O Kemosaabie! From what grand pool of golden ethereality do you pull your mettle? Not 5 miles down the road, your fuel guage ticked up a notch. Where you pulled another gallon of gas from, I'll never know, but we cruised into the Newark Pick-N Pull with miles to spare. Sometimes I wonder if I could have kept driving you down to the tip of Baja. Who needs gas when you're metaphysical, right? That said, the nymphs and princesses of that Newark Metal Kingdom were more than obliging, and off into that shiny place you went, no doubt reincarnated in many a Saab. Pick and pull is the most unreliable company i ever delt with they cancel on me three times and every person i spoke with were very very rude they don't even deserve one STAR!!! I've been trying to call the Pick-N-Pull customer service in in Newark for over a week, 2-3 times a day during business hours. They did not answer the phone, so I tried to contact the car buying dept. to find out why customer service does not answer their phone, after choosing the option it went into other options, in doing so, I was disconnected. Today I brought my car in becouse the smog is not passing so I can get my registration to pass. Royal mechanics charged me 800dollars to fix what was supposed to be the problem and the car still not passing.This is the reason I never take my car to be service at the dealer. First off I have never been to pick n pull in my life. Yesterday I went to find a battery for a car. There was a chart the front cashier told me would help me find a battery, which was totally old so you could barely see what number matched your car battery. I pretty much already knew my number for my battery so I continued to look through the batteries while looking for the battery I noticed the numbers were not on the battery itself some where missing, I went to the cashier and asked was there anybody who can help? He said he can't leave the booth there are people around but I found nobody so I just gave up, on my way out I'm talking on the phone but keep hearing ma'am ma'am continuously so I turn around and its three to four men and I thought there were looking for me so that they could help me but no instead they say I need to check your purse I said I was just standing right there looking at a battery right by the cashier and they said ok thank you bye but where was the people when I needed help being a woman they should already know I have no idea what I'm doing at pick n pull read more

run!!! and dont look back from this place. go to any other picknpull except for this one. this place is told to charge you for every screw small bracket. for example i purchase a distributor they wanted to charge me for the eye hook on the distributor and bolt or i had to remove it. idiots these are pre- installed for timing and part of the distributor if removed there is no way to time the car correctly. i also bought a small clock and because it had a peice of wire about 1 1/2 inches they charged me for it also. i asked them why and they said it was because they are instructed to charge for everything. well needless to say that will be my last time there. i was there 10 minutes by the register and many other people argued about the samething. i ended up going to san jose its a bit farther than i was willing to drive but they so much more helpfull and even though they didnt have the part i needed i bought a used car battery from there. they even lent me a 10mm wrench to chage it out so i wouldnt have to pay the core charge. read more
