I'm really pleased with this yard. Their inventory seems to focus on older stuff that's becoming rare and almost the entire collection turns over in the months between my visits. The yard is tidy with wide aisles and all cars are lifted on wheel stands. It's sorted by: foreign/domestic and car/truck. I keep a mental list of parts to get and I always leave with a major score. 2$ for entrance not bad. But terrible at checking your bags/belongings is a downside. Too busy on the phone to check properly and just moves the tools around. A quick little skim through. Had the audacity to deny the fact that they were on the phone. I will admit that I didn't read the part where you can't bring in parts, that's my fault. It's an understable rule cause people could switch them but c'mon it ain't hard to do your job and properly check people's stuff. The part was just in plain view. I can assume they do see it and don't check properly so they can try to charge you for it once you exit. I've read other reviews talking about smirks when they pull the good ol' "what's this we got here, hiding" and try to accuse you of stealing. Same little smug smirk. I rarely write reviews. This will be my first here, with two others on Google. However, I felt compelled to do so after the most recent of MANY positive experiences at Pick the Part just outside of Santa Paula, Ventura County, California. I've gone here for my "used" parts needs for a long time. Never a negative experience. I'm not rich, and this place has literally made it possible for me to own the cars I do. Seriously. The staff is polite and professional. The place is clean (as can be expected) and provides carts and cherry-pickers if needed. And in my experience, there is no cheaper source of parts ANYWHERE. Maria was AMAZING!! I watched how she showed great restraint as she dealt with an angry man who spoke unwarranted discriminatory comments to her. Things he said were very offensive. She remained professional and composed as she dealt with him. I remained nearby watching in the event I needed to intervene. Maria your amazing. Also, during my visit with my daughter, Maria, again, impressed us. She was friendly and courteous to us and went out of her way to help me find a side mirror for my daughter's car while she was visiting from college. She and the "owners son" allocated much of their time to find the needed part, which they did find!!! My daughter tried to give her money as a tip to express our appreciation for care she extended to us, but she refused to take it. We need more people like Maria and "the owners son" in our world. I've been going to junkyards pretty regularly for years now, it's like treasure hunting; sometimes it's to keep my fleet of ancient cars running, sometimes my friends need parts, sometimes I find stuff to sell and I get to check out some cool cars and see how they hold up over the years. This is the closest yard to me so I pop in every few weeks just to see what's new - they do not have an online inventory system which is great because that means I can still find gems here, unlike the other yards where flippers get to everything good before the rest of us. This is also one of the only privately owned/operated self service yards remaining in SoCal, the rest are all owned by LKQ now. The ladies who work here are very nice, the prices are fair; most are on par with what other yards charge, some are better, some not so much, as always it pays to shop around when possible. The cars are laid out neatly in rows, left side is domestics, right side imports, trucks and SUVs are towards the back. Import cars seem to get rotated out about every 4-6 weeks, domestics seem to stick around a little longer. They also will have random items found in cars from tools to personal items to CDs and audio gear like subwoofers, amplifiers and headunits at the entrance if that's what you're looking for. If you've never been to a self service junkyard here are some general tips; -Bring your own tools, make sure you have what you need to remove the part you need and youtube or search for a diy on how to remove the part you need -Sunscreen -Water/drinks if you plan on being there for awhile, you will be in the sun after all -Gloves -Closed toe shoes -Don't break things if you can avoid it, be respectful others may need that part -Most are gravel and dirt lots so wear beater shoes/clothes -There are porta-potties in case you really need to go -Ask for prices before pulling a part, don't be the guy who spent 1 hour pulling something and then realize you don't want to pay what it costs -You are responsible for your own safety, this is a junkyard there will be heavy items, things or liquids on the ground, sharp metal, broken glass and unidentified personal items. As always, check any car before getting underneath one. Specific to this yard; -$2 entry fee -Cash only for purchases, no ATM on premises -Must be 18 or older to enter -If you change your mind on a part, put it back on the car you got it from, in case you want to come back for it later or someone else needs it. If you put it on the table they'll send it to recycling once a week, whereas they cycle the cars out every few weeks. read more

I visited their website to check their hours to make sure they were open on a Sunday. According to their posted information, they were open from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. I drive all the way from Moorpark to Santa Paula, arriving just before 2:00 PM and they're closed. Not a living soul anywhere with a padlock on the entrance and the front door locked. this place is a freaking nightmare! avoid doing any sort of business with these con artists. they use the classic bait and switch on people all the time. call in to ask them how much a part is for a specific vehicle they say "its $166 for the part from any vehicle". and that sounds reasonable. well once you take the time to drive out there and spend hours removing the part and carry it all the way to the front of the yard. the lady says "oh that one costs $325" and there is a $25 core charge. CORE CHARGE? its a junkyard they don"t rebuild parts.so i wasted alot of my time and money to drive out there, payed to enter, busted my butt pulling the part then get told its double the money i had on me. Let me start off by saying this place is a life saver. My day was ruined when I woke up and noticed my car was broken into. *Shake my head* Door glass, stereo, and a couple little things. All broken! I go to the auto parts store and they wanted $435!!! Just for the stereo!! No way you have to be crazy to pay that! Soooo I had a friend tell me about pull your part in sun valley? NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN! it smelled like crap and rude employees! I go and it was a complete waste of time -.- make sure you wear rain boots cuz you just might step in human turds. All the cars are skeletons! No meat on the bones! It looks like a graveyard! At this point there is no hope. BUT WAIT! A week later on my way to Santa Barbara my girl tells me there is another junkyard right off the 126 freeway a bit skeptical about it from my first experience from the other place my girl nagged me about wanting to go to her first wrecking yard. So I caved and made the exit on Briggs. Let me tell you best decision I made. I see a huge sign PICK THE PART! Pull up to the parking lot. (Loving the big parking area by the way) Pay the measly 2 dollars(it's $2 bucks for god sakes don't be a cheap) asked the lady in the front (Maria, which was very nice and pleasant other than the other wrecking yard I went to) where I could find my car. She told me they didn't carry an inventory because they had a little over 1000 cars! Damn! but again told me to look on the right side, there is a pretty good chance it'll be there. So I go and look here and there and BAM second row! I look in the car and it's basically complete! DOOR GLASS! STEREO! AND THE LITTLE THINGS HERE AND THERE! FREAKING SCORE! And this place is pretty nice almost complete cars! It's crazy way better than *pull your part that isn't even there* lmfao okay okay back to my experience. I take all the items out and take to the window where another young lady's station and told her I want these I wanted them bad! She told me the price and it was all under a $100 bucks. A HUNDRED BUCKS!?! Just the stereo they wanted $435! I basically threw my money! Lmfao I couldn't believe it. I'm so glad I came! I made a great decision (my girl made) shhhhh I got my tools checked go my receipt checked. It was well organized! I will defiantly be back! This yard is o.k. but not great. The Prices are steep and the service second-rate. They have loaner tools but good luck finding one that you actually need. Once you pay $2 and find what you need, try to see if the part is the right one so you can avoid any further trips back. Don't let the workers write all over your part either because the person at the exit will try to. Instead, ask them to mark it in an area that is not visible. read more

Go in there... asked them how much for a part: they give me a quote. I even called to to see of i get a different quote (same). I go in there find what im looking for (this case a transmission) the tell me that same price over the phone: $166. Pull it out and its double the price, $380. My review is several months over due. I was looking to get rid of my 20 year old Corolla that didn't run anymore. Tried going with some other companies that promised to come pick the car up, and never showed, causing me to miss work several days. But then I called these guys they gave me a quote for how much they would pay me for the car. I didn't even care about the money, I just wanted the car out of my garage. They tell me they can have someone there the next day, and sure enough first thing in the morning the man was there. Can't remember his name now, but he was extremely professional and friendly. He filled out the title so I could send it to the dmv, gave me my money and left within 15 minutes. Definitely would recommend them if you need an old car taken away! read more

I heard about the place from my brother and I went there to get a part for my car, and I see a lot of cars over there OMG the place is so organize, clean, and big. The people over there are very helpful. when I ask a question they answer with a smile. I walk in I found my car very easily. the car was in life everything was on it not like other places you don't see nothing. So I called my brother to help me out and he came in then we get the part. One of the worst pick a part experienced I've ever had. They keep no inventory and will not tell you what kind of cars they have stock. They charge an admission fee for you to walk around an unorganized lot with HUNDREDS of rows of cars. I walked through 20 rows or so of cars before giving up and taking my tools and leaving without having found the car I was looking for. The woman at the front--Maria--was extremely rude. read more
