I wondered if my wife would think I have lost my mind when I suggested that we go back to Pickett's Seafood, but when I told her about the rock shrimp and the red grouper, she smiled and said "I love rock shrimp and I've never had red grouper". So off we went, on Saturday night. Once again, absolutely amazing, and for those who are shocked by the prices, here is what we got and I will tell you, this is GOOD value. We had 1 lb of red grouper, 1/2 pound of rock shrimp. The shrimp was steamed in butter and old bay, and served with butter and cocktail sauce and was absolutely amazing. The meat came right out of the shell and was perfect. The red grouper was grilled to perfection and served with lemon, and was so tasty. Ok, 1 lb of red grouper, 1/2 lb of rock shrimp, their tasty fries and fresh coleslaw with a landshark and a coke plus tax and tip, $76. For the freshest seafood prepared and served perfectly? I would say we might need a reserved table but we have gone twice this week and walked in got served and had a nice table. Picketts Seafood is in our top 5! read more

Trying out Picketts for the first time - they've created a whole new look!! Remodeling job was great. Lay out much better. Classy Nautical and comfortable. Lunch was the Haddock Platter (grilled and seasoned to perfection) with the best fries I've ever had and homemade coleslaw (not dripping in Mayo) and homemade tartar sauce. Plenty to eat!! We make it a priority to try as many different spots as possible when we travel. However. We found ourselves enjoying Picketts 3x during our 6 day stay in the area...and would have gone even more if the stone crab availability was sustained. Initially drawn in by the stone crab, we tried a variety of other local fish dishes and loved them all. Especially got a kick out of the grouper collar--a tremendous value at $11. Also really enjoyed that they offered ice cream treats from a local creamery. Also also loved that you can pick anything from the market case and have it prepared to order. The only bummer is that the extra large and jumbo stone crab were priced 60%+ more than the large and medium...and several of the days only the jumbo were available. I get the increased pricing due to scarcity, but I just couldn't justify the extra expense (they taste the same to me and don't offer much more meat). read more

Great food, service, and atmosphere! Very clean and decorated nicely with personal touches. We had the beer battered cod special and shrimp tacos, both were A+ quality and great portions. Tyler made sure we had everything we needed and had us try the fish dip which was VERY GOOD. Tasha also did a great job of helping us navigate the restaurant as it was our first time there. Picketts Seafood is dangerous, and is the reason I'll be broke by December. These two bartenders are a national treasure. Jenna pours beer like she's flirting with gravity, and Francine can read your soul, figure out exactly what you're craving, and deliver it with a smile that should come with a warning label. I've never felt so understood by strangers in my life. The fish bites are little golden nuggets of joy, the fish dip is creamy, smoky perfection I want to bathe in, and even the cheeseburger is stupidly good (who does that at a seafood joint??). Only beer and wine for now? Didn't matter--Jenna and Francine could serve me tap water and I'd still tip like a Saudi prince. Stone crab season is here and these claws were so satisfying I needed a shower and cigarette when I finished. Run, don't walk. We decided to try out Pickett's for lunch. It's been a year waiting and we assumed (incorrectly) it would be a more "sit down" kind of place. It's very similar to the previous tenant (Oceans). You order at the register, then take a seat at one of the handful of tables. We had the fish sandwich and the crab salad sandwich and a side of onion rings. Everything was tasty, but those 3 items plus two fountain drinks was $80. We won't be frequenting there at that pricing. And we eat out at nice restaurants frequently. I certainly wish them success & I am happy to have a source of fresh fish/seafood, but they are going to have to step up their game to warrant the pricing for that kind of menu. read more

Just got back from our first time at Pickett's, best scallops I've ever had. Also the smoked swordfish was outstanding. Got to meet the owner Matt who was very friendly along with the rest of the staff. We visit Florida about once a year for family and this will definitely be a return destination for us! read more

We used to go to Oceans Seafood when it was open and were excited to see that somebody reopened a similar concept at the same spot! We were greeted by kind staff and each had the Picketts' Signature Fish Sandwich (Fried.) Fish was great and came with a good portion. Wow, so disappointing. Four of us dined there Saturday. Name & signs misleading. If you want fresh, you will have to buy the fish & take home to cook. All 4 of us ordered different things so we could try them out. Coconut shrimp was obviously frozen out of the box. Same shrimp you can get at Aldi for $3.50. Yet they charged $18. Tasted terrible. And 8 French fries. Really? Coleslaw was definitely pre-made elsewhere & terrible. Fish sandwich just ok. Small portion. Again 7 or 8 French fries. Very nice people working there. I can't say enough good things about the food we had. We had a spicy shrimp appetizer it was delicious. Sorry forgot what it was called. I ordered the grouper special and it didn't disappoint. My wife tasted and liked it and that is saying a lot because she doesn't eat fish very often. She had blackened shrimp it too was very good after I tried it I will order that for myself. I can't really say anything negative about this place. Headed last Tuesday to New Smyrna to go to Boston's Fish House to find out they were closed for remodeling. We looked on line and found Pickett's Seafood and decided to try it. So glad we stopped. Small dining area and no tables available, so we sat at bar. We shared fried haddock and fried shrimp. Both delicious, fresh and cooked to perfection! So much better than frozen you get at a lot of places. Servers very friendly and took a short time to receive our food. We got a container of their homemade seafood dip to go which was the best I have ever had! We will be regulars now and delighted to hear from our server that they are expanding their dining area and will have an outdoor eating area also. A must try! read more

please sure you ask if the scallops are wet or dry packed . wet packed are soaked in (STPP) sodium tripolyphosphate , to add up to 30 percent water and it makes them rubbery , hard to sear and soapy tasting . if you can't serve dry scallops , they shouldn't be on the menu. on top of that they are chunks soaked in chemicals to add liquid so every bit tasted like bitter soap . only buy dry and u will never be disappointed. read more
