We went there for the playground but there wasn't any spaces in front of the playground so we had to walk just a little to get there. It's a really nice park to go to if you're in the area. They have a nice field, playground, basketball courts, and pickle ball courts. The playground is a little different from others because it has a zip line for kids. You hang onto a handle and with enough momentum you can swing yourself to the other side. My daughter loved that when we went to a park in California and we just never saw one of those in Hawaii. But now we know... They do exist! The playground is also in the shade so you won't get fried when waiting for your kids to finish playing. And there is a bench to sit and rest while you wait. Great park, we hope to go back there soon.

My husband works for the DOE and wanted to "check out" this park last year. Although we live in Moiliili, the drive is quick since it's right off the freeway. So glad we did... It's now one of our top 3 parks to take the boys! The facilities are well maintained, shaded by the huge trees that offer parents and kids shelter from the midday sun. My oldest son (4.5yrs) loves the swings and riding his scooter around the basketball and tennis courts. My youngest (3rd) enjoys jumping off the concrete benches and mastering the playground (which is more elaborate than the usual city park playgrounds around town). There's spinning chairs, slides, a mini zip line, drums, and chimes that kids can make music with! So cool! Parking is fairly easy to find around the park perimeter. Area has been consistently safe when we take the kids (about once every couple of weeks). Great for all ages but adult supervision is still recommended esp for the littles.

Hours change regularly. It's been so fun having a few saline pool to swim laps and take the kids to swim in. This is a busy place with classes, picnics, and families all enjoying the amenities. Definitely worth a visit.

I never saw any people there. That all changed a few months ago with a massive renovation of all the buildings and facilities. When you arrive, they have free dedicated parking along Dole Street, as well as sometimes free, sometimes metered street parking for overflow. The park facilities sit on a hill and go down: restrooms at the top, sports and playground down a ramp/stairs, baseball/open fields at the bottom. The park has public restrooms, water fountains with clean taps and good pressure, a new safe and modern playground, and large paved areas for children to play and ride bike. In the realm of sports, they have new basketball hoops and courts, two tennis courts with nice nets, and multiple baseball diamonds on the large field at the lowest level. The field is big and open; so this area does get exceptionally hot on a sunny day. There are trees around the perimeter that offer some shade. The nicest amenity is the public swimming pool. This is also free to use and offers dedicated lap swimming times and open swim times for families and fun. Be sure to checks signs for the hours as they change by season. They have additional restrooms, changing and locker areas, and professional lifeguards.

While the park is small with very limited parking, there is a community center with restrooms, a basketball and tennis court, a small field for soccer and a small plays scape. The park is remote and does not attract tourists. Neighbors gather to walk dogs, let children play and enjoy the sunset views. This is definitely a hidden gem.

It's been more than three decades since I last got on a basketball court to shoot some hoops, and it's nice to see that the Kapaolono Community Park is trying to up keep their facilities. This community park has a special place in my heart as I spent many hours here playing basketball, tennis, & baseball/softball. Kapaolono has a very large field, great for baseball & softball. Two tennis courts, & two basketball courts. They also have a swimming pool here, but I've never had a chance to use it. A few things I noticed about myself when I got back on the basketball court - 1. I noticed I had a little trouble dribbling the basketball, due to the neuropathy in my fingers. 2. I can still shoot the ball pretty well. 8 out of 10 on the freethrow line ain't too bad for an old fart like me. Lol! 3. Man, I am out of shape! If young kids asked me to join in on a pick-up game, I'd probably have to pass to prevent a heart-attack! Lol! 4. There are cracks on the basketball court, but at least the cracks are not craters! Becky, facilitator, very nice and friendly! Very nice square tables and chairs plus Mah Jong sets to play with (with or without numbers). Just wished this park would be renovated as bathrooms and rooms (floors) are very old and could become a hazard! Sooner than later as it is used by so many residents!

The bathrooms are located by the kids jungle gym. On weekends this is a popular place to play tennis and there's also people teaching tennis lessons. There are no pickle ball lines on the tennis courts. The tennis courts are decent but like all public courts on Oahu, there are cracks on the ground. The nets on the tennis courts are well maintained. There is ample parking on the street along Kilauea Ave and 22nd Ave with a short walk to the tennis courts.

I came and tried the West Coast swing class on Sunday night. The fee was $10 if you were not a member. Members paid $20 to be a member and then the classes are five dollars. Apparently the Classes run once a month and then I believe in June they will go to twice a month. On that day, they offered beginning an intermediate classes. They split everybody up in two groups and they had two different teachers. Normally there is a shortage of male dancers. And there is plenty to dance with. After an hour of classes. The classes were brought back together for social dancing. Everyone was super friendly There are different dance clubs that offer classes throughout the week and monthly. The fear and worry was gone. The instructors are extremely experienced, friendly and kind! It's a laid back yacht club and zero pretentious vibes.
