Recently I had the pleasure of enjoying tacos at Pico de Gallo, a vibrant gem in Kensington Market that brings the flavors of Latin America right to your plate. I opted for the 3 tacos for $15, and everything was very on point. Each taco was generously filled with fresh ingredients and bursting with flavor! The crispy tortilla chips were smothered in a rich, tangy salsa verde--¡qué delicia! The staff was also very inviting. The team made me feel como en casa. The taste of the tacos as well as the price are such good value. We were not looking to eat a lot so for 2 people we ordered the 4x tacos for $16. For this price there were enough of the 4 soft tacos to share between 2 people. What we tried was the Beef Barbacoa, Tongue (lengua), Intestine (Tripa), and Baja Fish. It was a good sampling variety. What I really appreciated was the chance to taste a lot of different types of taco flavours for a reasonable price. They were also generous with their sauce or dip options. They have the sauces available in small packaging and you are free to get as much as you want. There are some guac, and different levels of hot sauces. It may be a little hot inside the place waiting for the order to be made because of the ventilation situation. There is also no space to dine in inside so we had to do eating out at the nearby Bellevue Square Park on a fine, sunny Sunday afternoon. Overall, I only have good things to say about the food and food value. One of our stops for our Kensington Market taco crawl. Unfortunately, out of all the places we tried, this one fell short. Like, really short. Prices are cheaper than other locations - great! 3 tacos for $12 and you get to mix n match. So we got 6 tacos in the flavour of steak, carnitas and beef tongue. The biggest disappointment was the wait time. We were told it will take 20 minutes... then another 5 minutes... then another 10 minutes... then another 10....needless to say, if we knew the wait time would be so long, we would have gone somewhere else. After we got our tacos, hoping it would be worth the wait, it was not. It was bland - no spice, no flavour. Tacos were double shelled, which I don't mind but it wasn't necessary. It actually made it dry. Good that we gave this place a try, but there are better places in the neighbourhood. read more

I recently heard their Instagram account got hacked and had to give them my support and really push myself to try something beyond my usual taco joint in the same area. Let me just say, the owners there were very nice. They kept their doors open later so we can place our orders in as they were still finishing others that were for delivery. We order the 4 tacos, torta and chips/guac combo (also known as the Instagram tray). Guac was delicious and tacos were great! They don't really skimp here. The torta was great as well. The only note is that our order was incorrect. We got a duplicate of a chicken taco, instead of beef. Our torta was suppose to be chorizo but we got another chicken. It's a wash, I assume it's the end of the day, they may have ran out of the other meats and just stuffed the rest of tacos and torta with chicken. I enjoyed it and nom nom it all the same. read more

Yo Quiero Tacos? Burritos? Ceviche??? Don't run for the border amigos... it's too far and Covid Travel restrictions are a hard NO! Face-Palm! As I said before ... Toronto is where all cultures come and feed each other! AND let me say I was fed! Kensington Market is a Toronto destination for food. Recently, street food and mini-food court have been popping up everywhere... I do have a theory. Follow me on this... Kensington Market has also become the home of grass, weed... you know.. cannabis... don't let me be blunt about it! :D And what do you need after a hit or six? FOOD! LOL! OMG! I'm kidding! Maybe not! If you do find yourself jonesing for eats, look no further than Pico De Gallo. Especially for good Mexican food. My friends and I (small group of 4 - trying to adhere to all the restrictions) found ourselves walking though puff alley and strangely we were damn hungry and Sergio Maldonado had our cure. His tacos come in Fish, beef, pork, or chicken - and they are satisfyingly good. His ceviche had good amounts of seafood and his chorizo burrito hits all the bells for flavour. It's a must try if for some reason you found yourself ... you know.. hungry! LOL Keep something in mind. There are about 4-6 small kitchen operations within the building. It is crowded and Covid restrictions are hard to follow within. This is primarily a get your order in, wait for it until you are called, get it and go on ... you know.. street food. I visited on a Tuesday during the day they had 3 for $12 tacos or one taco for $5 so I decided to get three I ordered the beef brisket the shrimp taco and he fish taco My favorite by far was the beef brisket it was so tender and so flavorful I can eat the beef by itself Next I would have to say was the shrimp taco it was cooked well the texture of the shrimp was nice and it came with grilled vegetables on top and the vegetables were seasoned I can taste the spices My least favorite was the fish taco the batter was too thick for me the batter did taste good but it's swallowed the fish overall my experience was good the staff was nice and I would go back read more

Nice little spot in Kensington. I tried their tacos here recently and really enjoyed it (I was a little skeptical at first because of some of the negative reviews). I ordered two sets of tacos (they come in 3) - one set of Baja Fish tacos and another set of Carnitas. The fried fish was a good size and very crispy while the pork was tender and flavourful. The toppings and sauce also paired very nicely. I definitely want to try some of the other items here next time! read more

Cheap Tacos without the cheap taste! There's an expression "you get what you pay for" but thats not the case here. You get more than you pay for! 3 tacos for $12, but the quality of the ingredients and care put into them is for certain worth more than that. The beef barbacoa and fish taco are my favorite, but you can't go wrong no matter which you choose. The Ceviche is also stellar. My only gripe are the taco shells, which are definitely fresh pressed, and double layered, but at times the meat juice/fat makes them a bit soggy and they fall apart when trying to eat. read more

Out of many Mexican food spots around Kensington market, this place is my go-to for quesadillas! I have tried beef brisket quesadilla and veggies quesadilla. Both were absolutely amazing! They do have mild pico de gallo which is perfect for people who cannot handle spicy food like me. The quesadilla was also served with tortilla chips. Personally, I do prefer the chips to be less salty and oily. Nevertheless, it was yummy! read more

This is easily one of the best places in Kensington Market for authentic Latin American eats. I love Pico De Gallo because they have a huge selection of tacos, burritos, and other common Latin American foods that are made to perfection. What I liked about Pico De Gallo is that they have a huge platter/tray of food called the "Instagram Platter/tray" that has a variety of different items so you can try foods that you would normally not get. This is one of the most photogenic trays in the 6ix. I think their tacos are some of the best in the city and their GUACAMOLE is out of this world. Visited this place after seeing it plastered all over IG. I wish I had checked Yelp first. This place was absolutely awful. We ordered: 1) fish tacos - the fish was soggy. The entire taco texture was just MUSH. 2) steak tacos - the steak was drier than dry. Couldn't even swallow it. 3) esquites (Mexican corn) - this was absolutely inedible. Corn & hominy in a soupy white mess of oregano. I could barely take a bite. The whole day my stomach felt off because of this experience. Me and my boyfriend took a bite and threw away everything. Came here enticed by the smells of the food court, and decided to order a ceviche. I asked in advance how large the serving was, as at a price point of $10, it wasn't cheap. The chef showed me a decently sized bowl, and indicated a slight mound over the top. Seeing that it would be a decent portion, I chose to order it. I also decided to add the extra $1 for shrimp. I was completely duped! When he delivered the ceviche, it was much much smaller than expected. Perhaps the smaller portion was for the better though, as I wasn't a big fan of the dish. The flavour was very harsh and raw - not as well rounded as the other ceviches I've had in the past. The biting lime flavour was overpowering. Moreover, the raw fish and scallops were of poor quality. The fish was cut in varying sizes and chunks, and was limp to the bite. The texture was highly unappetizing. I was glad that I at least paid extra for the shrimp - it was the main redeeming part of the dish. I wasn't very impressed and won't return, particularly as I feel I was fooled by the owner. Had the steak and the veggie tacos at the st. Clair Salsa Festival pop up. The tacos where much better than other places I have tried in Toronto, and the staff where helpful with accommodating a mistake I made while ordering. Upon my mistake they were quick to help and did not give me a hard time. Will look forward to visiting the store front. read more

I had to do a double-take at Pico de Gallo when I stopped in at Gordo's to get a taco from Chilaca. I'm sure I've been here before, and added it to Yelp, but it was no where to be seen in my check in list. So I had to add it and buy something for takeaway. I ordered the chicken soup which was surprisingly chock full of chick peas ($10). Not what I expected, but pretty darn good to eat. Along with the tub of soup, he provided a container of fresh toppings to throw on when serving which was a nice touch. Nothing outstanding, but hit the spot for me that day. If you look at the menu options with pictures on the counter, plenty of it looked enticing and I will be back soon to try out the meat dish with chicken, beef and pork. read more

Restaurant is take out only. Really unfortunate there was no place to sit outside. Was cruising around the Kensington Market around 11am and was famished. Not too much open, not even the Shawarma place I was originally eying. On the outside, the sign said, I Love Churros. On the inside, it seemed like there were four food trucks in a stationary setting. Good customer service. tacos had great presentation for street food. Did appreciate the extra shell on each end to prevent a saucy mess. Flavour profile was really solid. Hot sauce was pretty decent, chicken wasn't too dry but not juicy or tender. This is the combo for two, 5 tacos, 1 burrito or torta and guacamole & chips. You get to pick which ever tacos you want. I got two fish, two beef brisket & al pastor. I chose the beef brisket torta (sandwich) as well. The tacos were so good the fish was really crispy. The beef was so flavourful and super tender. The al pastor was also a great choice! Ordered the Combo for 2 (Instagram tray) and it was disappointing. We got the beef brisket burrito and the meat was pretty flavorless. It comes with 5 tacos and the meat was dry and flavorless in every single one, chicken, carnitas, shrimp, pastor, brisket. The guacamole was probably the most flavorful but it was packed with large chopped onions which took up about 50% of the container. Also sooo much cilantro on all tacos and the limes were dry. Long story short, we ordered 12 freaking tacos because my boyfriend's eyes are bigger than his stomach, and after trying one bite from each taco for fair evaluation he refused to eat the rest and ended up eating leftovers in our fridge. My fiancé and I tried the Instagram tray for two which came with 5 tacos and a torta or burrito of your choosing. We tried the baja fish taco, carnitas, braised beef, saudero, and the pastor (the one with pineapple). The pastor and baja were by far the best that we liked. It was flavourful and perfectly seasoned. The braised beef was also my favourite--it was soft and tender. The tacos were very filling and we actually got full before even trying the burrito (it was huge!) Overall, the food was great. My favorite of the many taco places in the market. I've ordered several times on Ritual, and they are always ready on time. Tortillas are wonderfully soft and fresh, the salsa on the side definitely packs some heat. I found the suadero taco a bit dry, but I always order the fish and shrimp tacos and they are consistently amazing! HIghly recommended. read more

I really like this place. I ventured in weeks ago after finding that jumbo empanada was closed! I was super happy to find this place. I had the ceviche, and I bought it to share with a preggo friend and so they accommodated the request...I think she didn't want fish. It was delicious!
