Brian reached out to me after my previous review and we had a long phone conversation about the issues we had with the project. I was really impressed with how open and honest he was about growing his business and where he felt communication and project management fell apart. It was clear that he was keen to really understand the details of the issues so that he could rectify them for future projects. I will also stress that Brian did not request or mention editing or updating my review, but I felt it was fair to do so given his attempts to make things right. He constantly is planting new plants whenever I buy them and him and his team always clean up and put my trash cans out when they are done. He is always on time and goes above and beyond. Another issue I've just discovered is that they planted a plant so close to a sprinkler that 6 months later it completely blocks the sprinkler head. I will need to pull it out. I'm nervous about the other locations of the sprinklers. And. Last I heard from Brian about the other fixed was May 1 when he said he would get things right and that scheduling would be in touch.... read more

Picture Build is Amazing Incredible! I don't write many reviews but I do read them, so I understand the importance. It can be scary/intimidating handing over your yard (and money) to someone else but I have rarely been more impressed and thoroughly happy with a company and their result! Our home's backyard came out amazing. The entire process, start to finish, was impeccable. The design plans, execution and communication throughout were flawless. The weather conditions we not ideal but everyone continued to push through, completely demoing the the property and building a truly transformative show-stopping creation. We do not stop getting compliments on their work so the least we can do is give a few compliments to the crew who crafted this beautiful space. Jorge was our project manager and managed the heck out of this project, kept us up to speed, made sure we were aware of every step and offered professional suggestions and connections. Max, Hugo and crew toiled away everyday making the vision a reality, dealing with relentless rain, mud, and cold, they clearly cared a great deal and knew their stuff when it came to plants, concrete, gas and even electrical. Very impressive to watch them work. Of course, the whole thing started with a great design. A design from Jason who Picture Built connected us with based on our input and direction. We could not have been more impressed (and surprised) by the thoughtful layout of the yard. We had very high standards going into the project and were understandably a little skeptical but all hesitations were put to rest after initial review of the plans. Even after everything was complete, Brian has continued to come by regularly for check in, ensuring all is in order from watering schedules to plant health. We cannot recommend Picture Build enough, we would hire them again 100x over if ever we needed to move and have already told many others about their work. We know it's an investment, as was the house itself, but we made the right choice and of all the decisions we made, Picture Built was the best one! The proposal they put together for our backyard remodel project was comprehensive - we were able to work collaboratively with their design team to choose a planting aesthetic and they provided us with many options. These guys did a great job for us. We very highly recommend them. We needed to replace the concrete decking and drains around our pool. We also wanted to add lighting and some other improvements. We got bids from several companies, and while Picture Build's bid was competitive, that's not why we hired them. Dana (who prepared and presented the proposal) gave it far more attention than her competitors. She visited several times and thoroughly explained the differences in the pavers, coping, lighting etc. She listened to our thoughts, did not try to upsell but had excellent suggestions, most of which we agreed with. Dana was very easy to work with and we knew what to expect going forward. Jorge took over after the project began. He supervised the various crews coming in to handle different aspects of the job and made sure the work was of the highest quality. Jorge was very accessible and responsive when issues arose (as they always do). He obviously takes a lot of pride in his work, and tries hard to ensure that the clients are satisfied. And we are. We had an amazing experience with Picture Build! Our home is new construction and we were looking to complete our front and back yard in entirety. The first conversations we had with the Picture Build team included discussions on designs, costs and timeline. The team was easy to work with and aligning on the design didn't take much time at all - we had previously meet with a few companies who didn't do the due diligence of making sure our yard was what WE wanted so the efforts made by the Picture Build team were much appreciated. Also they are reasonable AND affordable in terms of cost! The company is fair in the work that they do and how they conduct business. During the design phase and first few walk throughs, Brian the owner of Picture Build joined the team and provided great insight into our yard and design. Jorge was our project manager during the entire process and he made sure everything was not just taken care of but that it was to our liking - he is easy to work with and really went the extra mile! Once we got going, the Picture Build team sent different teams for the different areas of our yard - this included a custom putting green, a half basketball court with newly poured concrete, custom garden boxes, planting, putting in synthetic grass, lighting through out the front and back yards and pavers in both the front and back yards. The crew was great! Picture Build does a great job sending the right people for the right job - the pavers team was exceptional for example in putting together the front walkway, setting the pavers and make sure our paver design was as expected. The experience was the same for all other areas of our landscaping - a team specializing in concrete, a team focused on synthetic grass and putting greens, etc. Overall an excellent experience with a team that is professional, courteous, on time and has a reasonable price! I wanted to take a minute to write an update about our experience with Picture Build. I have decide to update with a review of 5 stars. Brian, the owner of Picture Build and his team have gone above and beyond to make sure that we are satisfied with their services. A few months ago they came back and fixed all of the issues with had with the previous service in our back yard, and a few months later, they called to make sure that we were happy with everything. We decided to give them another chance and hire them to do some work in our front yard. They sent one of their designers, Dana, who was professional and very talented, to work with us on a plant layout. She listened, gave suggestions and gave us a great design. We then worked with Daniel to implement all of the designs. He and his team were courteous, on time, communicated well and made our yard look fantastic. The work included taking out some old plants and replanting them in a much better layout, removing the old irrigation and putting in new irrigation, adding some new soil, weed barrier, bender board, planting the new plants and mulching. When we purchased our home, we knew there was some essential work to the exterior that needed to be done. After meeting with several companies, we called Picture Build and Verva, our point person, came out to our home. We can't say enough great things about our experience with Verva. We knew we had work that needed to be done, but as first time home owners, we didn't know much about what exactly we wanted or what potential our property had. Verva knew right away. She encouraged us to work with her and her designers to create a design for the whole exterior, noting that we could do the work in pieces if we wanted. After the design, Verva guided us through the way Picture Build charges for work, which we found to be logical and fair. In the end, though it was the biggest investment we've made besides the purchase of the home, we decided to commit to Picture Build doing all of the work which included significant hardscape and paver work, drainage (which we desperately needed), irrigation, several plant beds, privacy shrubs, gravel, a new yard, and lighting (which makes a huge difference). What an amazing company!!!! What an amazing crew!!! I searched for landscaping companies for quite some time and when I found Picturebuild and theor great reviews, I gave them a call. I couldn't be happier that I chose them for my project. My project included my front yard and a very large backyard. I added sod, DG and flower beds throughout. Although I had my own basic design, the entire crew was here to walk the property several times to ensure we were together on design layout, proper irragation, placement an other incidentals. Melinda, Project Manager,, along with the hard working crew,, Nacho and his team, walked the property, listened to every concern, I had whether valid or not, properly and kindly took notes and made suggestions. The job took 3 weeks and included, cleanup, grading, rototilling, irrigation layout, installation of DG and Bender board, plant layout and sod. Dana was the plant selection specialist. I say specialist because this was the hardest part to find hardy, yet beautiful plants that would survive, long term, in the extreme summer heat where I live. I have had family and friends literally gasp when they've come to see the transformation. It is so spectacular and amazing and beautiful. They only place I want to be is outside staring at my new gorgeous backyard. I new I would be happy, but I never would have imagined it would be this beautiful. I am more than thrilled with this finished product. I'm just at 30 days since completion and the crew is still checking in to see if I have any concerns or questions and have immediatley addressed the few items that needed to be tweaked. I've also hired Picturebud to do the maintenance. Andrew, wow, what a great guy. On top of it. He was at my house a week ago and also yesterday and I pointed out a few things. His response "yes, I saw those items last week and have already made notes and brought to Picturebuild attention". Most places wouldn't do minor repairs unless you bring their attention and twist their arm. Picturebuild has stayed in constant contact. My husband and I bought a hillside property knowing we would eventually turn dirt into useable space. A little over a year ago we hired Picture Build to help us turn the dream into reality. This is a specific review for Dana, the woman who came to our house for a consultation. 1.) We had an appointment for a consultation with Dana, and she texted she was running late, but just wanted to cancel instead of just pushing the appointment to later in the day. I had taken work off for this meeting (since they don't do consultations on the weekend), so we asked if she can just push the time... she reluctantly did. 2.) When she finally showed up, and the second she walked into our backyard for a consultation, I could see she wasn't interested in working with us; she seemed so uninterested. After telling her our ideas for the backyard, she asked what our budget was. We told her the number we were aiming for (which was on the lower end) and she just blankly stared at me and then kind of laughed at the number. She went into saying how much everything would cost, and maybe "her" company wasn't a right fit for us. She honestly made us feel less than, and that our project was not worthy of her time. We were open to expanding our budget, but she kind of just shut us down. She said she would just take measurements and give us a line item cost of what everything would be. However, she said she was going on vacation the following week, so she would give us a quote the week after she got back... mind you, she said this on a Tuesday. Every other person we met with gave us a same day quote. She really made it seem like we weren't worth her time. Long story story- it's been 4 weeks and she never even sent us a quote. Our experience with Picture Build was wonderful. Right from our original call to them, their estimator, Verve was quick to come out to give us an estimate and design ideas. Once we approved the design everything from our retaining wall, concrete pour, our water feature, our built in BBQ with seating area, our pergola and artificial turf were all scheduled and the work began. Our project manager Jorge was very professional and very responsive to all our questions. He was on top of every aspect of our project and kept us informed of their schedule. We contacted several local landscaping contractors to discuss our landscaping and Picture Build was the only company who returned our calls. Ryan came out and met with us and we worked out a total remake of our yard including flat spaces and concrete walkways. Since we are spending more time at home we decided to put in a BBQ island as well. On the day we agreed to start a large crew came out and, after discussing final plans and painting the layout on the ground, the crew started the demolition. By the end of the first day everything not staying was removed from the back yard and hauled away. It was incredible to watch the equipment used and the choreographed moves of all the hard workers. We had Jorge, Melinda and Max running the job. They kept me informed, were knowledgeable on local codes, and made sure they were operating within the rules of our HOA. They arrived on time each day, made every minute count, and cleaned up at the end of each day. The materials were kept in our driveway in a very neat manner. All of the workers were very nice and gave the impression they wanted to do a quality job for me. The ground in our yard is clay and they had to use jackhammers to dig the trenches. They put in several drains around the yard as well. The job included putting in block walls, concrete walk ways, and building a BBQ island with natural gas and electrical. They also ran electrical for a fountain and yard lighting. I would have to say that their masonry and concrete work is some of the best I have seen. The BBQ island had a concrete counter and stone veneer. At the end of the job they installed all of the plants, sprinkler systems and yard lighting. They also installed the BBQ and refrigerator. After the job was completed, each week for four weeks, Daniel came by to check the plants and watering plan. He replaced any plants that didn't survive and even replaced some plants that we didn't like after they were planted. Daniel was very knowledgeable and answered our questions. We had an excellent experience working with Picture Build on our backyard project from the initial consult, design, completion of our project, and follow-up maintenance visits. Our project included pavers, turf, a small putting green, and plants. Verva, our sales consultant/project manager, was very responsive and provided input on the design that really helped us to maximize use of our small outdoor space. She took the lead on sheparding our application through the HOA approval process and got our project scheduled as soon as we received HOA approval. Tino and his crew did excellent work on the pavers. Max and his crew did an amazing job on the artificial turf, putting green, and planting. Both crews were very professional, asked for our input to ensure everything was the way we wanted it, friendly and overall made sure we were happy throughout the installation process. I also need to commend both crews on how clean they kept the worksite and how they left it once the project was completed. The follow-up maintenance visits are also greatly appreciated. We had an issue with the irrigation system that was quickly resolved. Two months after our project was completed, some of the plants did not thrive. I contacted Verva and she forwarded the plant issues to the front office. Two days later, Victor arrived with new plants. He also checked on the other plants, the irrigation system, and answered all our question/concerns and gave us helpful tips on future plant maintenance. We would highly recommend Picture Build to anyone. Their customer service is excellent before, during and after installation. We hired Picture Build to re-design and re-landscape our front yard and our large side yard. I am a DYI kind of person but sometimes you just need a professional to do the job. I decided to plant two trees in my front yard and done a lot of reasearch on how to do it right. I thought that everything was perfect until they started dying. I wasnt sure what was wrong and didnt want to continue doing more planting and yardwork until that was fixed. I called up the guys at Picture Build and talked a lot about everything that I want to do. We agreed on making the stone path to my front door, setting up new sprinklers for all the vegetation that I will plant myself and a lot of other small things. Their work was much better than i expected and much better than i couldve done myself. Gladly is was not too late for the trees that were dying, there was some problem with the top of the soil. Jorge Flores the project manager is a pleasant problem solver. He fixed an electrical problem and refused to be paid for it. Carlos who did most of the job is perfectionist and artist all in one. The rest of the team are all very nice and very hard working. The job was finished in 2 weeks of non stop work. Communication is excellent. PictureBuild far exceeded my high expectations and surpassed every contractor we've ever hired. Bottom line: they did what they said they would, for the price they originally said it would cost, in the time they said it would take, and the end result was high quality. We've literally never had such a good experience with a contractor. Key to the success was their team: Carlos (the job captain) and his crew Jose, Max, Hugo, and Domi were here every day transforming our yard. They were skilled in the work they were assigned (for us, primarily concrete work: benches, fire pit, stairs, pavers, etc). Jorge, the project manager, was amazing -- super accommodating when we requested small changes/additions and kept me updated on a regular basis. He was here multiple times a week through the duration of the 5-week project. I also really appreciated the way they price projects -- everything is based on pre-determined pricing (eg: concrete pavers are priced by the square foot and that cost was specified up front in the contract) so it made everything really fair and easy when small changes were requested by us or required by the site conditions. This even allowed us to get credits back when less work was needed (eg: fewer steps required on our concrete stairs). For some, this may seem tedious, but it is truly the best and fairest way to manage changes I've seen put in practice. Everything was predetermined and there wasn't the typical last-minute expensive change orders you see with every other contractor. Ultimately, the quality of the work was incredible, their business practices super transparent and fair, and their team was great to work with. I would hire them again in a heartbeat. read more

Picture Build just completed our front yard using the DWP Turf Replacement program. Alex came over to give our estimate. I provided him with a landscape plan I received from a landscape architect through DWP. He worked very hard to try to match the anticipated cost that the plan projected. He worked with us on ideas to make it work and was successful. Jorge got involved with Alex after we decided to go with their company. Jorge added other good ideas to the plan. Within a couple of weeks, Sal and his crew began the job. They worked everyday and were here from early morning until almost dark. As promised, they took a little over a week to complete this job on a large front yard. They ran into difficulty acquiring some of the original plants on the plan due to time of year and also many people looking for California native plants. However, Alex worked his tail off tracking down the ones we needed or good alternatives. He constantly kept me apprised of the work. I can't say enough about the work ethic of Alex. Everyone on Sal's crew was awesome and worked extremely hard to make sure all of the plants and rain garden were exactly as in the plan. On top of that, Brian will be coming out every week for a month just to check that everything is okay with the plants. Also, they warranty the plants for 60 days. So in case you are looking for someone to convert your front or back yards with California Friendly/drought tolerant plants and/or pavers or other hardscape, we highly recommend Brian. Not only did he work with us on the perfect design, he was honest, respectful of our time and property, came in on budget, and did an outstanding job.
