Verva at Picture Build helped my wife and I transform our backyard and stay in budget. She helped us trim down our original grandiose (and ridiculously expensive) vision to one which was affordable and yet still gave us the backyard we've been dreaming of. Picture Build provides great hardscaping service. The crew make curvy concrete cuts without a single crack, laid a classic stone pattern into the areas they cut out, took down and rebuilt a large section of cinderblock wall, and topped it with a beautiful cap. Their landscaping service was also fantastic. They installed spray irrigation, drip irrigation, an extra valve to account for our low water pressure, sod, an electrical box, tree lighting, and dozens of herbs and flowers. The crew cares about their work, so much that they came back after the job was done to improve upon it. They removed some old electrical which they had overlooked during demo, as well as some rebar which was sticking out of the ground, and to plant some herbs which we had wanted but weren't in season during the original planting. Our sprinklers struggled a bit, so the crew came back (several months later!) and adjusted the heads so that they sprayed correctly and covered the lawn completely. Throughout all of this they were friendly, open, and professional! I really appreciated how helpful they were and how supported I felt. We contacted Picture Build with design and plant selection ideas. They helped to revise the design and source the plants which saved us more money than other vendors. Our yard was a mess, but Nacho, Bryan, and Anthony came to the rescue to remove 3 tons of dirt, weeds, a bad sprinkler system, and level out the uneven ground. The new drip irrigation works great and all of the plants are thriving except one, which they replaced. The yard checks were helpful at the conclusion of the project and the yard looks great. We had a few minor issues with project management communication regarding starting the project, but overall the experience was very good and we would use them again for pavers and or the backyard. read more

We reached out to Picture Build for both landscaping and hardscape work for our front and back yards. We had requested quotes from at least 5 different companies and Picture Build was the only one who treated us with respect. There were at least two of the other contractors that tried to pressure is into working with them, even trying to make us feel badly that we asked quotes from them and are still considering others. Anyway, we ultimately went with Picture Build (Ryan) for their professionalism as well as their pricing, not the lowest or highest, but we could tell they new what they were doing. We couldn't be happier with our choice. Along with the design that Ryan created for us, we were assigned a project manager, Melinda. She and her team came in and laid out expectations of the project and when they told me it would take six weeks total, I figured it would be 8 to 12 weeks. They kept to the six weeks schedule and did a great job with our pavers, plants/trees, and new lawn. They have a number of specialized team that operated like clockwork. Even after the project was finished they set up times to come by and inspect the work to make sure everything was ok, including how the plants were getting along. They even replaced a few that had struggled. Working with Melinda was awesome! She called or texted me on a regular basis to make sure I was aware of any scheduling changes and to make sure I was ok with any work pivots that were necessary. We never felt that we were left to wonder what was going on. Even now if I wanted to call her, I can reach out to ask her questions. We were assigned a Project Manager who was very responsive! The project was performed within the timeline indicated. The employees on the job were experienced and courteous. We sought to do about 800 sq ft of pavers and AstroTurf, and we ended up going with Picture Build after they gave us a very fair and competitive bid. They then meticulously walked us through the whole process, from the timing, exact procedures, materials, itemized costs, etc. The whole project took a little over a week, and we are very happy with the results. After they were done, we were given sincere advice on how to maintain the landscaped areas and even some useful ways to save money (e.g., DIY tips and recommendations). There were even small finishing touches I noticed around certain corners and nooks that I appreciated. I know pictures would be much more helpful, but we're still going through additional renovations and gardening, so I don't want to give the impression that Picture Build didn't finish their work. I'm really glad I found Brian at Picture Build. They landscaped my entire front and backyard. The project included pavers, artificial grass, setting up a drip irrigation system, and planting some perennials, roses, fruit trees, and shrubs. I met with several landscapers prior to selecting Picture Build and early on I could see the difference in time and attention that I was getting with Brian. I was so surprised how many other landscapers simply didn't follow up with a quote. The crews that worked on the project are broken up by expertise and are top notch on every level. Great workmanship, they always left the job site clean after each day, and I was able to easily communicate with them anytime I had a question. The foreman, Brandon, was awesome to work with and addressed all my of requests. In terms of price, they are really fair from all of my research. Despite a number of serious challenges along the way--challenges which resulted in the need for a lot of duplicative work on their part--Melinda and Victor picked up the reins a few months into the job, and came through with flying colors! After talking to multiple contractors who talked more than they listened, and tried to upsell me, I was visited by Verva. She listened carefully to my needs and budgetary considerations. I was pleased with the detailed quote and responsive communications. When it came time to complete the work, the team was more than impressive. First of all, this has been an unrelentingly hot summer, and without fail, they were committed to getting the work done. The pavers in my back yard were finished more quickly than promised - and look magnificent. The remaining work by the landscaping team was completed a day quicker than expected too. I discovered some drainage issues in the pavered section, Melinda quickly sent out workers to correct the problems. It's perfect now. The intense heat caused some of the bender board to rise up. Again, just a text to Melinda prompted a quick response and repair. Daniel is very knowledgeable about plants and maintenance and spent time answering questions about my plants, and provided advise for where to place a raised bed for my vegetable garden next summer. The whole team takes a very personal approach. So I needed someone to come to my house and lay down brick in the backyard. I called a lot of different companies and got a lot of different quotes. I decided to go with Picture Build. Not because they were cheaper because I did get a lower quote, but because I had a good feeling about Brian who came to my house to meet with me. We had brick in the backyard already, but it was done poorly by the previous owners. Completely uneven, there were parts of the yard that you would roll your ankle on if you were not very careful. I didn't even want to have guest over because they might twist their ankles and sue me. I pulled all the brick out of the ground to see that the brick was just placed on dirt and nothing else. Brian and his team came and turned our backyard into a place we actually want to hang out in. They took the existing brick that I pulled out and put it back in the ground, but they did it properly. They ran into a situation where they ran out of brick. Brian came up with a plan to cut some of the bad pieces of brick in half and make it into some shape and by the time he was done I had a very nice patio area. Is it perfect? No, but that's because we did not put him in the best situation, but for what we gave him, he did the BEST he could which is still better than what it was. His team even did some extra stuff like removing a very dangerous metal pole that was stuck in the ground from the previous owners. I had it covered up with brick so no one would trip and die on it. They saw the danger of this and removed it for me. Also, his crew had to use my hose and it was broke. None of us were sure if they broke it or if it was broke before they got to it, but instead of hiding the situation from me, Brian calls me and says "we might have to get you a new hose. We are not sure if we broke it or if it was broke so we will just get you a new one." I told him because of his work and the deals he was able to make me and for his honesty, he didn't have to worry about it. I give this company my biggest seal of approval. Brian and his crew did an amazing job on our little patio! It was a total mess before, with the concrete sinking and drawing water toward the house, instead of away. It was hard to picture what it could be, but Brian sketched it out and assured me that it'd look great. I called about 5 different paver/concrete installers and I was having a hard time even getting them to come look at my patio. I had one company, PVM, who blew me off 3 times right at the scheduled time, and I took time off from work to accommodate their schedule! I had others that would only come out if I agreed to the $5,000 minimum, and I had a guy quote me twice what Picture Build quoted me! To say I was frustrated was an understatement. The whole search took nearly two months. Once I got in touch with Brian, everything changed. He came out within a day to look at my patio. He was super-responsive, and he had a ton of work going on aside from my little patio; big jobs. We got the work done within a couple of weeks (over the holidays) and the space looks fantastic. We have a townhouse, so I asked Brian to make sure the crew was as respectful as possible of the neighbors, and boy were they! I employed Picture Build for what was basically a complete redesign of the exterior and hardscape of my property. The project involved moving and reinforcing retaining walls, constructing new drainage schemes throughout the property, regrading some sloped areas, constructing a pedestrian stairway, replacing all concrete areas with paver designs, and installing completely new landscaping along with drip irrigation. Also new perimeter walls and fencing were built. I'm extremely happy with the result and recommend Picture Build without reservation. When I started the project I interviewed 2 companies and Picture Build was one of them. I met the owner, Brian, and we talked about what I wanted. I chose Picture Build because I felt that Brian was very honest and up-front. I also knew that I wanted a full-service operation to deal with this. Since I have a very busy professional life, I needed a contractor that would take care of everything - Brian made a point to tell me that they really don't sub-contract much and try to use their crews for everything. In addition, they said that they take care of permitting and could provide design services as well. Picture Build were not the cheapest contractor but in this case I got what I paid for and it was worth every dollar. We met with the designer, Harley, and after 2 meetings he had produced a design that included all the features that we wanted and also took care of some drainage issues that we were facing. Picture Build began work very quickly (I think it was about a week after the design was finished and quoted). They worked at a very fast pace to complete the major construction work - I was very concerned that the noise and dirt of that phase be compressed together and it was. The work crews, foremen and project manager were all great, and whenever I had an issue it was handled quickly and resolved. Our front yard had deteriorated badly in recent years due to the drought and deer population. Our terraced yard had been held in place by ivy that was dead and the hillside was starting to erode. Brian from Picture Build met with me to discuss our options. Drought and deer tolerant plants were a must for us, as well as some way to hold the slopes in place. We had met with other landscaping companies before, but Brian made new suggestions that appealed to us (e.g. a granite rock wall where we couldn't build a retaining wall due to utilities easement, among other things). We decided to move forward. The next step was meeting with the design team from Remarkable Gardens. The ladies were very nice to work with and produced a design that we were very happy with. Brian then provided a budget and plan that fit nicely into our expectations. The Picture Build crew were all courteous and professional as the project moved into the execution phase. I'm home during the day, so I was present for most of the work and tended to ask a fair amount of questions. The crew were always willing to talk with me and never made me feel that I was being intrusive. We did have some change orders along the way - some expected, some at our request, and some unexpected but not considered by us to be unreasonable. There was a point near the end of the project when we were not clear on the status of some loose ends. I called Brian to discuss these issues and within 24 hours it all had been addressed. My impression of Brian is that a top priority was our satisfaction of the outcome of our project. Also, about a week after the project completion, the irrigation system malfunctioned. We contacted the project manager, Brandon, who sent out a crew to fix the problem (caused by the high water pressure we have). They installed pressure valves and it's worked perfectly since. We are so pleased with the final results. We get so many compliments. I wouldn't hesitate to use Picture Build again and would recommend them highly to anyone. This review is actually two years in the making. We asked for quotes from several companies for the landscaping project on both our front and back yard. We ended up choosing Picture Build because we saw the kind of work they have done for our neighbor across the street. After getting our input on the type of foliage we would like to see, Brian came up with a cohesive and thoughtful look for our garden. I appreciate that he incorporated in his design certain plants we wanted to keep. Now that the plants have matured, we couldn't be happier. We have gotten a lot of compliments from our neighbors. Since they finished the job, we have gotten plenty of use and mileage from our backyard - from big parties to simple weekend barbecues and most recently an Easter Egg hunt. However a couple of plants (with long purple leaves which I don't know the name of) wilted after two weeks - a really minor quibble. As an aside, I've come to the conclusion that I really don't like the decomposed granite in our front yard. That's not Brian's fault as much as my own personal aesthetic. We went with it because we had a set budget. When I'm ready to have it replaced, I definitely know who to call. read more

We hired Picture Build to bring our backyard back to its glory after building an ADU. After the construction, our yard was a huge mess. Uneven piles of dirt, struggling plants and trees from a dismantled sprinkler system, debris everywhere - not an inviting place for anyone, some might even say dangerous. Long story short, our back yard was a disaster. Enter Picture Build. Starting with our designer Dana, the process was great. The communication was excellent and only continued to be stellar once we started working with our project manager Melinda and our wonderful crew including Nacho, Bryan and Anthony. Nacho was the team leader for our crew and he was fantastic. He and his team were always ready to answer questions and provide solutions to any problem that arose. He also worked hand in hand with us to find the best solutions for placement of our concrete steppers with creativity and craft in a particularly tricky spot in the yard. The team that worked on our project were very respectful, very open to questions and concerns and kept an immaculate work site... in one word professional. Nacho in particular was very collaborative and communication with him is very easy. Part of our project included a cobblestone walkway. Esteban and Carlos did that walkway and they were quick, meticulous and had great attention to detail and design - they were artists. In fact, we loved their work so much we asked them to do another area near the pool that was not planned. We also had sod installed and three months later it is still lush and beautiful. Melinda and company were also very responsive to follow-ups. We had a few spots in the sod that weren't getting enough water and they came to replace those areas with new sod and to adjust all of the sprinklers to make sure it didn't happen again. We also had a drain that wasn't working as needed and they made sure to troubleshoot and fix the problem immediately. Overall, our experience with Picture Build was wonderful. Recently got my front yard completely redone. Everything looked great. All the neighbors were complimenting on what a good job the guys did. We worked with their designer who listened to what we wanted, and gave us a rendering of exactly what we asked for. He explained clearly and gave us suggestions when we had questions. The crew came and tore down all the old concrete and all the dirt, and built me an entirely new front entrance, put in new drainage, plus we reclaimed a new space by having a wall around this new area separating it from the side street. We had artificial grass put in for my son to play on that was previously the old concrete. They also planted a bunch of fruit trees and heat tolerant plants for us for the new landscape with a brand new drip system. It was a 4-week job and now it felt like I have a completely new house. They cleaned up all the mess after it was all over. They also came back weekly for 2-3 weeks to check on the plants after it was all done, to make sure there were no problems. read more

My house was built in 1925 and the brick patio was original. Over the years, settling and the fact that the house is on a hill (with a great view!) had taken a toll on the patio. It was uneven to the point that people easily tripped. Picture Build came in, removed the old bricks, saved them, leveled the patio, and used the same bricks to replace the now-leveled patio. As part of the job, Picture Build added steps and planter boxes. They removed odd hardscaping that had been added over the years and made the patio a destination area. Once I could see how beautiful this patio was coming along, I asked them for ideas for another patio on the other side of the house that seemed to be constantly muddy. Their suggestion was artificial turf. Again, another lovely solution. No more mud, and constant greenery that makes it easy to clean up after my dogs. read more
