So glad my friends finally dragged me in here. I had heard so many things about Pie Tap!! The food here is delicious. The pies yummy and not overly salted. Flavored just right! My friend and I split a half mushroom, half sausage pizza. You can split a pie half and half with any of their creations. The mushroom pizza reminded me of a breakfast pizza almost with a cracked egg on top and bacon. The dough they make in house is so delicious. It's got almost a sourdough taste to it. Both did not have a red sauce, so I definitely want to try a pizza with their red sauce next time! The pies itself can feed two people comfortably. My other friends got the chicken parm which they loved, and I also got the small simple salad. The salad was actually amazing! Spring mix with tomatoes, shaved carrots, watermelon radish, and cucumber. It paired perfectly with the vinaigrette! I would highly recommend it! I was starving and didn't get to take a picture unfortunately. Overall the service was great, as our waiter was friendly and fast. Prices are on the pricier end, but not overly expensive. Pizzas are ~$15 and pastas are ~$16. The dipping sauces they offer for the crusts are $3 which seems kind of steep in my opinion for some sauce, but I didn't get to try it. I'll update this next time I come and try the sauces. Come Tuesday nights as that's when all the pies are $10. Amazing food! If you try this place, you have to get the garlic knots. They're made with sourdough bread and their a great appetizer for sharing! Overall the food was decent. The atmosphere was was a little cliche I'll admit. It felt like they were trying to be upscale but hip at the same time. I may be bias but it just wasn't for me. The crust for the pizza was pretty good but nothing special.i had the bbq chicken pie and salmon pie. The bbq chicken pie was alright and the salami pie besides the sausage was adequate. I felt the pizzas needed a little more sauce. My group said they liked their pizzas overall too. One person did say that the veggie pizza wasn't anything to write about. UPDATE: The manager reached out and offered us another try of the pizza-- takeout was delicious! I wouldn't recommend this as a delivery place but take-out and dine in is awesome. This steps above other DFW pizza places with their creative pizzas-- the proscuitto and smoked salmon brunch pizza are mouth-watering. The sauce on the "basic" pizzas is great but the crust leaves a little to be desired in the chewy/crunch ratio. The inside is very cute and rustic and there's plenty of parking despite the location on Henderson. Try it out (especially for brunch) if you're in the mood for creative pizzas! PS the frosè is STRONG! Not sure what the hype here is about! Maybe it's because I've only had delivery from here but the crust is too hard and the flavors are underwhelming. We read the reviews the morning we had a reservation and couldn't believe all the five star ratings, but now we totes do! We came on a Tuesday night with a reservation and were seated immediately. They had a nice round table for the 5 of us, and our waiter was super friendly and speedy! We ordered the meatballs and chicken parm to start, meatballs were super juicy and tasty, the Parm was also really tender and surprisingly not so heavy or full of oil. The obvious best was the pizza, we ordered three pizzas for five of us and were only able to actually finish two, but we took the rest home because it couldn't go to waste. The margarita pizza was my favorite! Simple, and not overdone, the crust is thin and crispy and perfectly toasted. We asked the waiter to add mushroom to it and it was great pairing! However, when I was drinking my water I felt something in my mouth. Much to my surprise, there was a large, dead bug in my water and I pulled an insect's leg out of my mouth. I made the staff aware and their response was "Ew that is embarrassing sorry. Why didn't you say something sooner". I paid full price for my meal and nothing was really done to compensate for the fact I had ingested an insect leg. So disappointed. Boyfriend's birthday party started terribly coming here for Saturday brunch with 7 people to watch the Texas football game. I trusted the reviews that it would be a good brunch spot to watch the game and had called to request a bar table for us to see the TVs stating the goal of the party was to watch the game. Also sent a message to verify it was a birthday party to watch the Texas game. Unfortunately, when we got there, they "couldn't find the remote" and we couldn't watch the game for the entire first half. Our guests were not happy. Frosé was good, but other than that, the service was not welcoming and inattentive, they served a hot coffee in a glass cup because they couldn't find a coffee mug, the appetizers were all dry and bready, breakfast sandwich was weird, there was no acknowledgment of a birthday party. The icing on the cake was when I ordered another drink, the server said "maybe, but it will be a minute" because their bartender had "just walked out" so the manager was stepping in behind the bar. My friend Sara knowing my never-ending love for pizza brought me here for my birthday one year and I've been hooked ever since. Lofty statement but it's the best pizza I've had in Dallas! I love their frozè and Italian margaritas. Once alcohol to go became a thing I ordered the frozè by the gallon multiple times during the summer (now they only have it by the half gallon). My go to pizza for myself is the pepperoni with extra basil, that I typically get on Tuesdays when pizzas are $12. A place can't be good at pizza if their pepperoni isn't on point. If I'm dining with a friend I'll also get the prosciutto. I initially thought it sounded weird but Sara raved about it and she wasn't wrong. It's the perfect blend of savory and sweet. When I had another friend in town she got the mushroom, which of course was also delicious. The dipping sauces are good but not needed IMO. The service and food are BEYOND TERRIBLE. I came with some girlfriends on a Friday night. The usual Friday packed crowd was here. After waiting 2 hours my group was finally seated. The host skipped over our group not once but twice. After noticing this we brought it to her attention and immediately was seated. Apparently it was a shift change and when the shift changed the Manager forgot to reassign our table to a waitress. After waiting for service (water) for 20 minutes. I asked our host for lemon for my water. She proceeded to bring back limes and lemons on a coaster. This has to be the most unsanitary way for a restaurant to give lemons. I asked her why couldn't she put the lemons on a small plate and she said "we ran out" with an attitude. The service continued to get WORST and we eventually received a different waitress. I was completely disgusted by the situation I didn't order any food. My friends continued to order and the food I am told was cold and not worth the trouble we went through. I can easily say that this is now one of my new favorite spots for pizza, and that is not a statement to be taken lightly. The rest of my table was all pleased with their drinks of choice. After debating back and forth on what we should order for an appetizer, we started with the chicken meatballs. The meatballs were super tender and the marinara sauce coated each bite deliciously! It also came with a side of their rosemary bread and wow, it was delicious and perfectly baked! One friend and I decided to share the mushroom pizza and the workshop salad. The mushroom pizza comes with bacon, caramelized onions, fontina cheese, and eggs on top. Amazing pizza and the dough was so good! The pizzas are baked in an Italian oven that spins the pizzas around so they get an even cook. Brilliant! I got a side of the goat cheese fondue to dip the pizza crusts in and it was good! I kind of wished it had a stronger goat cheese flavor since it did taste a bit diluted but it was still very good. The workshop salad was also very good and the balsamic vinaigrette was very tasty with all the toppings. There was a generous amount of salami in the salad and the salad was good for sharing. I also ordered a salami pie to go which was heavy on the meat. A bit greasy from all the meats piled high, but still very delectable and you can tell the quality of the meat they use is very good.
