Upon sitting down immediately order the garlic knots with whipped cheese - these are the best appetizer and are delicious. I highly recommend saving the whipped cheese if any is left over after devouring the knots. I like to use the whipped cheese on my pizza crust, too. If you are able to made it into the restaurant before six for their happy hour they have a reduced price on drinks, but the $14 pizza deal is a fantastic deal, too. I have had every pizza on the menu and I would have a difficult time narrowing it down. Last night I had a Margarita Monday pizza special which gave me half off that after buying a pepperoni one. I have been to three Pie Tap locations and greatly prefer El Dorado (McKinney) and the Knox-Henderson ones. They both have a similar vibe, strong service, and great food. I'm not an avid pizza lover, however this place has won me over. Every time I have been for either lunch or dinner, the staff is always super inviting and accommodating. There were a couple times where the host offered us hand sanitizer and for some reason I thought it was a nice touch. Lunch specials are great portions! I got the half pie and salad once and it was a good amount of food for lunch! Not only is the pizza pretty good but the roast chicken entree is yummmyyyy. My husband and I have also dined here with our baby several times and they are always accommodating and mindful when we bring in our stroller. We have tried pie tap a couple different times, and honestly it's hit or miss. The pepperoni pizza is really good! The BBQ pizza is not. The bbq sauce they chose to pair with the chicken is just not right it's way too sweet. The carbonara is something else I normally get, and usually it's pretty good other times it's bland I think it depends on who makes it. This was my second time going to this spot & I just love it for a lunch date. They have lunch specials, buy one pizza & get a margherita pizza half off. What we did was add salami to our margherita pizza because we were feeling extra hungry, hence the knotts we also ordered . Their cesar salad is so fresh, the lady said they add white yolk to it. Now if she would of told me this before I probably wouldn't have tried it at all but it was amazingly delicious. I will continue to go back to their great lunch specials. read more

My experience with Pie Tap started off rough and ended up meh (my son's assessment of the pizza). I started by trying to order two pizzas (their "Pick Any 2 Pies" special) on the web, but the website crapped out. Then, I downloaded the app and tried there. No better luck. I called the restaurant. Amber picked up after three rings. I indicated that I could not place an order online, she said she could take my order after a brief hold. That hold was about six minutes. I ordered the two pizzas and she told me it would be about 20 minutes. The place is about a five minute ride from my house. As a transplanted north easterner (NY/NJ), I am used to that particular style of Neapolitan pizza, so take my assessment based on that criteria. I've been here over a decade, the only pizza I've found to be reasonably good in the area is Luigi's, over on Preston/Lebanon. I headed over to pick up the pizzas. The transaction was easy (no wait) and taken care of at the front of the restaurant. I went home with the pizza and put the boxes on the counter. You can see that the pizzas are around 13" in diameter. For comparison, a large pizza is usually 15-16" and costs $14 at Luigis...that 1-2" actually translates into a lot of additional pizza. I was not impressed when I opened the boxes, so I followed the directions affixed to the boxes for reheating. Reheating didn't improve the visual aesthetics of the pizza (see before and after pictures). Both pizzas were a bit soggy. Neither pizza was particularly tasty to me or my son. His assessment was, "Meh." He's coming up on 16 years old, so that's what passes for a complete sentence in his world. My verdict...Dallas is replete with less than average pizza joints , Pie Tap is just another player in a crowded market of mediocre cheesy cardboard. I strive to leave reviews that I would want to read: This is our third or fourth time going - mixture of takeout and dining in. The fondue appetizer is consistently very good - flavorful bread and dip and always cooked well. However, pizzas are inconsistent in quality of cook and quantity of ingredients. I agree with other reviews that have experienced overcooked pies and lackluster toppings. This is especially frustrating as the flavors are usually very good! I recently tried the wagyu burger with fries. The menu said sourdough bread but my burger was on a stale brioche bun and the fries were undercooked - I recommend going with the side salad. Unfortunately we've decided this will be a beer and appetizer (fondue) place. Too many amazing food choices around to gamble on inconsistency. read more

Stopped by here on Christmas Eve to grab some pizza and beer. Pizza was really good even reheated. The beer in tap was great. Cute bar ambiance and I liked their Christmas decorations. The staff, bless their hearts, had to stay until 8pm which was closing time and likely had to clean up after so they gave their precious time to the patrons on Christmas Eve. The knots were so yummy and the Asiago cream that came with it was fluffy and flavorful.I love the concept of their dough made every morning without yeast! I didn't feel bloated or overstuffed like I normally would after pizza and garlic knots. We had the 1/2 salad and 1/2 pizza(pepperoni)..the marinara was Chunky fresh tomatoes which I really loved. My son and I stopped in for lunch on a Wednesday. The inside is modern and open concept all the way to the kitchen. The wait staff was attentive, friendly, and helpful. We started with the garlic knots. They were fantastic!! The whipped spread was light and airy with a delicate flavor. I had the hot honey chicken sandwich. It definitely hit the spot. All the ingredients complimented each other perfectly. Chicken was crispy and juicy. The side of parm fries were good too...and my son's fav. He had the kids shells with red sauce and meatballs. I went to Pie Tap on July 1st for a late lunch. Sat on the patio which was great. The lunch fell short with the service and the food. It was not busy; however, the waiter did not remember my sweet n low until the food arrived and I asked for it again. Just left this place. Leaving a review specifically about the takeout service. We have eaten here several times and the food has been good. This is the second takeout order and both have been terrible experiences. Tonight I ordered. 30 minute estimate. I show up a few minutes before and am told the order isn't ready....they are waiting on an item to finish. I see the takeout orders and a pizza sitting there. 15 minutes later I am still waiting. I ask the hostess to check again. She checks and it is still incomplete. I see a salad added to the pizza that has been sitting there for who knows how long now but at least 15 minutes. They bring me my order. The pizza is hard and cold. I ask them to remake it. The hostess tells me she has to show her manager. They remake the pizza. Now a 30 minute order has turned into almost an hour. No apology or anything--even though the manager inspected the pizza to ensure a redo was warranted. Terrible customer service. This review is strictly for the takeout service. I went in to place a to go order. Ordered at the bar and the bartender was very nice and accommodating. She knew I was staying in a hotel and that I was from out of town. She asked how far away I was. I said 5 minutes. She said I should be ok. Well when I got to the room I realized what she meant. The pizza was cold and so was the garlic knots. Apparently the thin crust does not hold heat and neither do the knots. I didn't order $40.00 worth of food for myself to microwave it. I will visit again but definitely to eat there. So my advice is to not order take out unless you have an oven to reheat read more
