We had a craving for pizza after being on our boat for a month and a half so when we got back to Charlotte Amalie we stopped into Pie Whole in Frenchtown. What a quaint little place with awesome service, knowledgable staff and great pies! One of the specials for the night was spinach artichoke dip with four cheeses and jalapeño's. We ordered this for our starter and I can honestly say that this was one of the most delectable things we have had in a long time. The creaminess, on a thin crispy crust and the bight of the fresh jalapeño all meshed perfectly together. We then had the Chi-town pizza for our main course. They also have an amazing beer selection to include a wide variety of Belgium and German beers. If your not sure what would suit your palate, just ask your server, they can tell you anything about the beer that you want to know! Also a great wine list! The quality of the pizza here is amazing, considering how far away from the Tri-state area the US VI are. It is thin crust and tasty. I would say the pizza is a little undercooked, and a little small, and the beer selection that everyone raves about it is very pricy ($8 for a half-pint when beer is 3 bucks elsewhere in the Caribbean), but considering the lack of high-quality other options in St. Thomas, I'd be happy to go back. read more

Really average wood fired pizza. Earns an extra star because the restaurant options on St. Thomas are truly dreadful. Tried two pies, the white pizza was the better of the two, the sausage mushroom was not appealing, sauce and sausage were to spicy. Both pies were in the oven a little too long. For those traveling to St Thomas don't miss this gem in the Caribbean. Very small place, so call ahead or come early to get a seat. My family of six came in at 11:15AM and we had to sit at the bar. No big deal, as the service was good and the pizza very good. The lunch menu features a combo of salad and personal pizza for $15. I am from Northern NJ and I am a pizza snob. Sadly the pizza here did not add up to the expectations. It is very thin crust, small for what I am used to, and small amount of toppings. They may have a wood fired oven, but does that mean you get "blackened" pizza like what we got? The interior is small with limited seating, dark with no view. If you like Belgian beer, they had a nice selection. If you like California Pizza Kitchen, you will like their pizza, sorry I don't. read more

I took the advice of others and skipped the dominos delivery and opted to drive to pick up my take out pizza. $35 got me a dried out pizza (think burnt cheese on crackers) and 3 beers to go. Went for the gluten free pizza which wasn't available at the time. Was told they are changing the ingredients and it is best to call 24 hours in advance so they can prepare it properly. Don't think that will be happening since I am not "celiac"but I do have some reactions to wheat. I couldn't imagine ordering it a day before hand unless it was for a party or something. Pizza was ok crust was a bit chewy or rubbery I guess you could say. Makes me wonder how the gluten free crust would have been. It was missing the snap of a nice thin crust pizza. I did eat the cold leftover veg pizza happily while waiting for my plane the next day though. It wasn't horrible but I've had much better. read more

We were introduced to the Pie Whole and Brian the owner (or one of) by some new friends / locals last month during our annual trip to the island. This is a GREAT stop for some wonderful thin crust, slice of heaven. Almost as good as New Haven, CT Apizza! Brian has done a wonderful job and this small, but quaint restaurant with it's hand made brick oven, has become one of favorite eateries in all of St. Thomas! read more

My family has been coming to St Thomas for years now (9+, visiting most years but not every) and know a lot about local restaurants and different places to explore. We came across Pie Whole a few years ago and were excited at the idea of good quality pizza on the island. In the past it's been a great but this experience has given credit to people talking about a decline in food and service over the last year or so. After traveling in yesterday afternoon we called for a takeout order at 730pm. While placing the order we found out that almost each one of our pizzas had to be modified because they didn't have all the ingredients. A pizza shop not having Italian sausage, their beer braised chicken, ham and others was pretty disappointing for a Saturday night. Waitress taking the order told us it'd take 45 min for the pickup - which on the island that's OK so we planned accordingly. We showed up 50 min after placing the order only to have the waitress say that it'd be another 30 minutes. They offered us a draft while we waited which was a local Saison. Beer was OK but they definitely have sub-par draft lines as the beer came out warm. Inside of the joint matched as well as I was building a sweat sitting at the bar. Food came out 1:25hr after the original call with no comp or discount of any kind on the order. Only thing keeping this from 1 star is the food which was fairly good (not as good as it has been before) but it'll be a while before we go back, assuming we ever do. Encourage them to focus on their service if they want recurring visitors to recommend them to other groups at the resorts. read more

This is the 2nd worst pizza I have ever eaten in my 50+ years. It is our first night in St. Thomas and due to the high stars we ordered pizza. I ordered a pepperoni pizza and a cheese lovers red. The cheese may have had some Parmesan sprinkled over it but there was no other cheese and no mozzarella and very little sauce with a burnt very thin crust. The pepperoni had a little more taste but not much. How on earth do people like this awful and tasteless expensive pizza? Eating Little Cesar's pizza in the states is like gourmet compared to this tasteless and topping less cardboard. read more

Went there tonight while on vacation. We had a hard time getting there with the location provided on Yelp - the location was way off! Nonetheless we eventually stumbled on to the place with a regular map and what a place! We had the garlic cheese bread for appetizer and three different pizzas and four desserts. The Pizzas were thin crust and very tasty. The beer selection was to die for considering such a small place. Parking is a challenge, but keep driving around-the inconvenience is worth it. read more

Found the Pie Whole on Yelp! and a few other sites. It is in the main Street area, but is open for dinner. Very small with a local feel. So, make a reservation. We had the artichoke dip sampler. it is a pizza with the artichoke dip and jalapenos. It was a special of the house and a nice size appetizer. We ordered the Calzone and a vegi-pizza. both were excellent and obviously hand-made. I would recommend this place with or without the kids. read more

Who would,of thought! Here we are in st thomas, the town of Charlotte amielle is not exactly the prettiest nor safest place in the world right next to it is an even darker looking town called french town. And what did we find, The Pie Whole, This place was awesome, they had a fear stone pizza oven, everything was made from scratch.... The drinks are strong and their beer selection was absolutely endless...and not a bunch of standard beers but an endless list of exotic brews. The spinach artichoke dip with xtra crab was great but it was not a dip,it was a pizza. After several really bad, very expensive meals here this place was very reasonably priced and great fresh homemade food..... Oh yeah I forgot all their pastas are made on site, no box pasta here. I highly recommend this place if you want a good pie for a fair price and that is saying a lot for st thomas And a side note, St. John is a,lot nicer than st thomas read more
