HEAR YE, HEAR YE! The Pied Piper Tavern isn't just a bar--it's where the Habsburg dynasty meets "The Three Musketeers" on energy drinks. Every night, this establishment transforms into a swashbuckling spectacle of questionable historical accuracy and absolutely magnificent wigs. The moment you walk in, you're greeted by patrons in full 17th-century regalia, complete with powdered wigs that defy both gravity and reason. The house rules require you to announce your noble title and at least three generations of fictitious ancestry before ordering a drink. The bartenders, all claiming to be deposed princes from obscure Eastern European principalities, serve drinks with the kind of flourish that would make actual aristocrats feel underdressed. Their signature cocktail, "The Transylvanian Throwdown," comes served in a chalice that you must defend with your rapier or risk losing to a roving band of self-proclaimed "baronial beverage bandits." The drinks menu is written in what they claim is authentic 1600s handwriting, but it's really just Steve the bartender's terrible penmanship with extra curlicues. Every Thursday is "Grand Duchy Thunder Dome," where regulars compete in elaborate sword-fighting choreography while declaring increasingly ridiculous claims to extinct thrones. Last week, someone claimed to be the "Grand Duke of Lower Upper Middle Slovenkija" while performing a perfect parry-riposte sequence in platform boots and a ruff collar the size of a car tire. The weekly tournament has become legendary. Picture thirty people in elaborate brocade costumes and powdered wigs, all dramatically gasping and falling to the ground shouting things like "Zounds! The Duke of Whoknowswhereia has bested me again!" The insurance company has officially classified it as "17th-century parkour with pointy implements." Five stars. Would absolutely risk getting challenged to a duel over the last order of mozzarella sticks by someone claiming to be the rightful heir to the throne of a country that definitely never existed. Just remember to bring your own saber (they rent them, but the deposit is outrageous) and at least three fake royal seals. P.S. There's a persistent rumor that if you can defeat the mysterious "Black Knight of the Bar Rail" (it's just Dave from accounting in a really nice costume) in single combat, you're granted the title of "Supreme Ruler of Happy Hour." We had to play at Pied Piper for our dart league - I've seen this bar a few times, but it's always seemed a little sketchy to me. I'm glad to report that is indeed not sketchy and is actually a lot bigger than it appears from the outside! There's a main front area with traditional bar seating and access to the bartenders, but if you go towards the back there's tons more seating and five or six dart boards lined up. It was pretty good sized (in my opinion) and the bartender we had for the night was super nice. Try the cheesy bacon tater tots... They're amazing! Only downfall as far as their menu goes is that they don't offer Blue Moon. :( read more

Just walking into this place it seems like it's really small. Just a bar area with a table and shuffleboard. I could tell by the volume though, that there was most certainly another area some where. The back area yields a TON more space, packed with people there for karaoke. Definitely a spot with a ton of regular clientele! Went here for the first time since all the restaurants were closed around us and I was super impressed. The bartender was super friendly and attentive. The environment was so clean we literally had conversations at the table about how clean it was. And as a women I was very impressed with how clean the bathroom was. This is a neighborhood tavern right in the middle of the historic district of Kent. Typical regulars, but we did have a new bartender (her 4th day). No real kitchen, just hot plates, microwaves and the like. Lot's of beers on tap. It has a regulation shuffle board table! You don't see that often as it takes at least 25' to accommodate a regulation table. One bar size pool table and no air conditioning. I like the place, it's just that it doesn't measure up to all the great taverns that Seattle has. read more

This place is TINY! But, during the summer time, they have a beer garden outside and always lots of fun things going on to keep you coming back. The owner is an awesome guy, and he does a lot for the community as well as the regular 'family/friends' that come in. A small place like this with SO many regulars can be a bit intimidating - but, once you've made yourself comfortable, everyone is very nice! The BLT here is really good - so are the loaded TOTS! Drinks are a little overpriced for the venue in my opinion, and especially since the local competition is a bit cheaper. This is a dart bar - and every Saturday night is JAM-PACKED with the weekly tournament. Parking SUCKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS - and, usually I park next door at the Airways Brewery (must suck for them!). This place is my go-to karaoke bar. The grouchy old woman I mentioned before, is actually pretty cool and knows me by name. I only come here maybe once a month, and only on Friday's for karaoke, but it still feels like home every time I step foot inside. Definitely recommend this place for local karaoke. I have been there a lot of times, the environment there is always great, not only do they have great and delicious Alcohol but also a lot of food as well. Such as their burgers and then they also have popcorn as well. It has definitely become my go to place whenever I'm in Kent weather that is going to a Seattle Thunderbirds game or just hanging out in Kent in general. Love the Pied Piper. We've been three times now before hockey games and have been treated very well each time. The staff is great and make you feel welcome. There is not a huge selection of beer on tap, but what they do have is good. The food is typical bar food. I get the mac and cheese bites every time and dip them in their tapatio mayo. I'm obsessed with that now and have started making my own at home. Why doesn't every bar have it??? My boyfriend is a big fan of their grilled cheese on wheat bread.
