Feel violated. Came in to speak to the eyeglass salesperson about their range of glasses and look at selection if interested. Was told they need to open a chart on me. I thought that was strange and did not agree. Recetionist asked to at least hold on to my ID. I agreed and gave her my ID. Found out afterwards that she put all of my personal information in their system without my permission. With all of the chances of identity theft, this is not okay. Do not go here. read more

Piedmont Eyecare is a very irresponsible office. I had an appointment and they told me that I had a balance from the prior year. I said how could I have a balance when I haven't been there for a year. After my appointment a year ago, I called them and said I wanted contacts instead of just the glasses. They told me that in order to get contacts I needed to have a contact exam at that point I asked how much would that be and they told me $112. I then responded by saying no I'll just wear my glasses. I can't afford it right now. Now they're telling me that they did do the evaluation and I said how could you do the evaluation without me? Of course they have no answer. How can you charge somebody for an evaluation when you didn't get the evaluation I canceled my appointment and I will never go there again and I nobody support their office because they're terrible. read more

We've had the same insurance for the last 6 years, used it yearly in three different states (West, Northeast and now South) and this was the most ridiculous bill I've ever seen. It would be nice not to feel ambushed in the parking lot as the staff tells you that a retinal scan is now REQUIRED if you want to be seen. (This is a new COVID practice). The charge is under $40, not a huge deal. The point is that this should be disclosed when the patient calls to schedule the appointment. I don't appreciate surprises in the parking lot! This was my first time coming to Piedmont EyeCare Associates at Wesley Chapel for an eye exam with Dr. Major. I liked that I could schedule my appointment online. This clinic is run very efficiently. Everyone I met was friendly. The woman who greeted me (I wish I could remember her name) thanked me for filling out the questionnaire they sent via email ahead of time. Gina, the technician, did an exceptional job doing the preliminary work before I was ready to be examined by the doctor. I was happy to have the retinal imaging done instead of dilating my pupils. Dr. Major is also excellent. She is personable, relatable and very knowledgeable. Although I didn't buy a new pair of glasses here, I talked briefly with Annricka who was also very helpful. Just avoid going there. They just could not explain the charges listed on the bill. When asked to describe, one would say it is for diabetic scan, other say it is a combination of office visit and diabetics. There is no transparency. Why would anyone combine both together and charge? How will it go through insurance. It just increases copay. Even the frames are very expensive (400+) and no transparency. They just don't put the price tag and appears to be charging based on insurance coverage. Suggest stay away. read more

I have been going to this practice and seeing Dr. Patel for more than 5 years. My eyes are a challenge as I have had a corneal transplant in one eye and have keratoconus in both eyes. I require a Sclara lens which is very difficult to fit for most Optometrists. I can say without hesitation that Dr. Patel is gifted in this area. I have been a patient of Piedmont Eye Care and they have been great. I went in yesterday to get my glasses adjusted on my way to grocery shop. I didn't realize until after I left, but it was almost closing time. Shaina pleasantly greeted me at the door and sat me down to adjust my glasses right away. No one was annoyed that a customer walked in as they were minutes from closing, instead the entire staff was incredibly friendly as I waited for Shaina to adjust my glasses in the back. No longer serving Veterans! After waiting 5 months to get an eye appointment through the VA. I was referred out to this specific provider and made an appointment. Gave them my number and other information over the phone, disclosing I was a veteran. When I arrived they said, "Sorry we no longer serve veterans." No call before my appointment even though they had my VA info and contact details, no apology, not even a discount. Couldn't get past the receptionist. I was offered to keep my appointment on the spot and pay full price for the eye exam and full price for a set of glasses but I wouldn't convert to a "paying" customer on principle. Wow!!! Now I'm going back to the VA again to start the process over. read more

After reading the negative Yelp reviews I was apprehensive about my appointment with Piedmont Eyecare. Fortunately however I discovered the negativity to be unfounded. The technician and doctor were all business, yes, but that's all I want in an optometrist. Get in, get your prescription/contacts/glasses and get out. They even had my year supply of Oaysis dailies in stock the same day! The pricing was inline with my previous year's visit at my old optometrist and they DID offer the rewards rebate for my contacts. read more

I called this group & asked for an appointment for the eye exam that was covered by my insurance. They looked it up & made the appointment. I went to the appointment. WHEN I GOT THERE they said they required me to submit to a retinal scan that WAS NOT covered by my insurance. I stated that I didn't want it & they refused to see me. So I declined & left. Talk about a bait & switch!! This is still America & a person should be able to decide what services - especially medical services - that they want, not at the demand of the provider. Customer service is horrible! Such unfriendly, & dishonest staff. Also had to ask about a rebate on contacts that should have been offered at the time of purchase that no one bothered to mention. They're extremely pushy and when we didn't purchase both contacts and glasses, the mood quickly became even more sour. They billed my health insurance AND my vision insurance, then I paid $99. out of pocket in addition to them raking my insurance over the coals. (Target optical charges $99.00 flat with no insurance involved for the EXACT SAME service). Stay far away from this place!! read more

I have been a client of Piedmont Eyecare in Blakeney for well over a decade. I decided, due to a scheduling conflict, that I would have my annual eye exam at their Wesley Chapel location. The exam started as well as any other exam, that was until it came time to talk to the "Doctor". Dr Patel greeted me with a could care less attitude as she entered the exam room. She continued with a "don't you dare deviate from the standard eye exam banter" standard to all annual eye exams. They when I informed her that it felt as though I had something in my eye she angrily stood from her stool, slung open a drawer to retrieve a Cotten swab, then flung the drawer shut again. I got the sense that I was inconveniencing her by swerving off standard eye exam script. I tried to explain that I wasn't all that happy with my previous prescription only to be cut off and told that what I was experiencing was wrong. After all she's the doctor and I've only been wearing contact longer then she's even alive. The exam ended with her barely acknowledge that I was in the room as she speed out to return to her conversation with the staff in the lobby. I think the best analogy I could draw for the experience was trying to converse with a bored millennial. I think from here on out I will seek the time of the more experienced and caring doctors at the Blakeney office. read more
