Sicard Michael F MD - Outside

Sicard Michael F MD

I had a first visit with Dr. Michael Sicard last week at the Matthews, NC office. I got registered…read morequickly and efficiently upon arrival and after I got my co-pay paid, the secretary came and told me he was 'still in surgery' at the hospital across the street (Presby Matthews). I got to choose to wait, reschedule, or see the Nurse Practitoner and I chose to wait to see him as I have a long history and chronic allergy/sinus/teeth problems. In less than 5 mins a 'tech' person, I guess a MOA, came and got me to 'get things started to see the RN NP. I have to admit I was wondering IF I should get up and leave and reschedule, as in the past I find relaying information, via the EMR and now a MOA, PLUS another person, often leaves MUCH to be desired. (my own PCP is at the same hospital and the problems with the EMRs there are never ending). I stayed, reluctantly at first. When the RN NP came in I felt that she actually listened to what I was telling her, and without having to consult the Doctor, she put in my order for a CT scan of my sinuses! My whole trust level changed from here on! I waited maybe 10 minutes for the scan and by the time it was finished, Dr.Sicard was ready to see me and WITH THE CT SCAN on the monitor in the room to go over WITH ME (I am a retired ER RN, so that is something I hoped would be done). All good news from Dr.Sicard! I was out and in my car in less than one hour, total...shock and awe! I chose Dr.Sicard when a MD in the same practice had retired. I looked on YouTube to see IF by any chance, there was anything about him there and sure-as- sunshine there he was! It was a short, to the point, interview with him speaking on WHY he had chosen to do EENT as his specialty and a bit about himself. I was SOLD on using him from there, for my own reasons, mostly medical. He's been a MD for a while and that is important to me. He is personable, VERY important to me, too. I am my own advocate and in Medicine today you MUST be that and more! He had a strong, non-sweaty handshake (as do I) and it may not mean a thing in 2015, but it is a good way for me to get an 'energy feel' for another person ( I do Reiki some now). By the looks of my CT he told me the BEST news that I could hear for his specialty. My main issues now are allergic, so now I will proceed seeking a good Allergist MD. The only slight difficulty I had was locating the office, even using Google Maps. It is 'behind' a main brown brick office AT the address listed....WAAAY at the end of the parking lot in a fairly new, BIG while office building. It only required a call to the office and being redirected by the girl on the phone, and in no way reflects on my visit to see Dr. Sicard. I absolutely would return to see him again and if you, too, need an EENT specialty MD I'd say you would be in great hands using him!

To anyone reading this review, let me start off by saying THANK YOU to Dr. Khalabari and the whole…read morestaff of Metrolina Eye Associates in Stalling and Union West Surgical Center Indian Trail. I am definitely not shy nor would I feel hesitated in giving my whole-heartedly honest review. Let me start off by sharing my own experiences and how I end up with Metrolina Eye Associates. Being that it was my mother's first time to be treated for cataract as well as my first time learning what is all involve including the medical cost, it was very difficult to find the answers I need to help me decide where to take her especially when she only has Medicare Part A and B and no other supplemental insurance. Cost and finding the best cataract doctor in Charlotte was very important to me for the sake of my mother. I had called every eye doctor in the area all over Charlotte many of those I highly would NOT recommend (Mecklenburg Eye Associate, Christenbury Eye Center, and Horizon Eye Care just to name a few of NOT to go) from University Area, Uptown, South Park, Myers Park, Ballantyne, and Cotswold and every single one of them (the front desk, reservation desk, surgical scheduling, and billing department) are both incompetent and unempathetic that had left me with frustrations because these doctor's office (except Metrolina Eye Associates of Stalling) could not give me any definitive answers of what the cost be for a "regular/standard intraocular lens IOL that Medicare will ONLY cover" even after I had already explained in detail what my mother can ONLY afford. We didn't care what their doctor would prefer or suggest. We only care what Medicare ONLY covers. How hard can it be to provide me the exact procedural code rather than giving me an "overprice range of speculative cost" or responding for which I find it very common and very irritating - "I DON'T KNOW" response. The code is what medical facilities use when billing the insurance company. After calling different offices, many times I find myself having to explain repeatedly and asking questions in different ways that perhaps these front desk/reservation staff/insurance billing departments could understand what I am looking for --- COST! After responding that I am fully aware that Medicare will cover 80%, I still need to know exactly what is the 20% of what basis without it the percentage is useless. In other words, the $$$$ amount. Because the out of pocket expense is very important to us who has limited insurance coverage, we wanted to make sure we won't end up paying an outrageous price or between $1,000-1,500 per eye, which includes anesthesia, doctor's fee, and surgical/hospital cost. Knowing exactly what the cost would helps us proceed to the next step and that is looking for a reputable, experienced, knowledgeable and caring eye doctor. After careful review (including obtaining the probably cost) and two months later, I've decided to take my mother to Metrolina Eye Associates and it's the BEST decision ever! Finding the right doctor can be daunting and stressful. Do your due diligence. Metrolina Eye Associates - Stallings and Union West Surgical Center - Indian Trail has hired the most professional staff from front desk (who are responsive with welcoming voice and great listener), technicians (who are gentle), billing department (who are thorough, specific, and honest), doctor's scheduler (who are cordial and empathetic), and most importantly Dr. Khalabari who is very knowledgeable, cordial, confident, experienced, honest, and forbearing with every single patients he sees to make sure all questions and concerns have been answered. He tells you the expected, unexpected and the worse-case scenario leaving no surprises. He's not the typical doctor who sees a patience as a dollar sign, which means spend only few minutes with the patient and move on to the next. The more patient seen on that particular day the more money is collected. It's like a quota that some doctor do, I think. When it comes to finding the right doctor and medical office/facility, I'm very careful and meticulous about. In my opinion, I find it very important that doctor's office staff the front desk position with knowledgeable, good listener, and responsive people with great customer service not just some machine which many patients and prospective patients find themselves leaving voicemail(s) and calls left unanswered or unreturned. I'm very cognizant, pragmatic, and conservative individual that I make sure that I approach the situation in the best solution possible with choices available at the time. Having said this, I ultimately recommend any cataract patients to come to Metrolina Eye Associates and Union West Surgical Center see DR. KHALABARI. They also do general eye care and LASIK. Again, my mom is 81 years old with one eye blind due to the amount of cataract in her right eye. Today, both eyes are 20/20. Thank you to Metrolina Eye Associates and Union West Surgical Center.

After recently losing her husband…read moreof 40 years, she was understandably overwhelmed and dealing with grief, insurance complications, and countless responsibilities. Because she had to cancel and reschedule appointments during one of the most difficult periods of her life, your office refused to accommodate her or make any exception. The complete lack of compassion and understanding shown toward a long-time patient was extremely disappointing. Respect and empathy clearly means very little here. As a result of this upsetting situation my family and I will be taking our business elsewhere and will not be returning.

From the…read moremoment I walked in until the moment I left, they were super helpful, kind, caring, and had a great sense of humor. You don't find ANY of that in this day and age in a doctor's office. Most of them make you wait at least a half hour and then can't wait to get you out ASAP with zero emotion or class...like a bunch of ZZZZZZOMBIES!! Thanks for changing my perception and image of what a doctor's office can be like. They have set the bar very high and I wouldn't recommend anyone else to be the team that cares for my eyes--now and in the future. I especially want to thank Maria for assisting me in picking out an extraordinary pair of exquisitely cool glasses. She is the utmost professional, very knowledgeable at what she does, and has a great sense of humor. She is the BEST!! I can't wait until my new spectacles arrive! Thanks again to Maria and everyone at Piedmont EyeCare!! You made my day and restored my faith at least in the eyecare profession!! See you again soon! SUPER SATISFIED, client, Brenda

NOTE: This review is not regarding the skill of the optometrist at this location. This review has…read moreto do with issues related to communications from this optometrist office and the professional acumen of the staff. You don't have to read the rant below. Here's the issues: 1) Off-putting and excessive security for an optometrist office, 2) Electronic Health Records system questionnaire that doesn't value the patient's time, 3) Incompetent office staff (scheduling appointments within insurance parameters). There are other optometrist offices that provide better customer service. For more specifics: To start, greeting clients with a locked door. I know that it is the 21st century. Certain neighborhoods can be rough. Is Blakeney or Weddington a high crime area? I don't think so. So, why is it necessary to have everything but a retinal scan to get into the office space? So you had someone come in and grab some frames - once (Oakley frames cost about $15/pair to manufacture, you may pay $100/pair). Stop treating the vast majority of people as if they are going to repeatedly violate the security of your business. Between your profit margins and your insurance, you can handle the shrink. Next, let's address the Electronic Health Records system (EHR) that is designed to consume mass quantities of patient time asking questions that are sometimes patently ridiculous. Men cannot get pregnant, this is basic biology. In a digitally active online form in the 21st century, why after acknowledging that I am a man would a form ask me if I'm pregnant (this is a "sex" question, not a "gender" debate)? No reason other than wasting time/energy. Why would such a system not retain information from prior visits and simply ask for changes and updates to previously reported information? Its not a HIPAA thing. Is it because you don't value the client's time? So, you really are going to ask me to fill out this complete multi-page form again for another appointment next week - really!? Finally, lets talk about the importance of scheduling appointments that acknowledges the world of health insurance that we live in and that funds the very existence of the modern optometrist office. When a client completes an appointment and the optometrist tells the person at the front desk to set them up for their annual appointment, it is not a stretch to think that part of the scheduling algorithm would be to include insurance requirements for the ANNUAL check-up. So, imagine my disappointment, when I show up after completing the forms, working my way through security, and the front desk staff asks, "So, you're going to be paying for this visit out of your pocket?" No, I pay a monthly premium so I don't have to. Now, to make it worse, I have addressed these same issues - in writing - to the company at least 2 years ago. They haven't done anything to change them. This optometry office needs significant improvement.

I was already planning to swing by the shopping center -- partly for errands and partly because I enjoy the area -- and once again, the experience reminded me why I keep choosing Warby Parker. The customer service here is consistent with what I've come to expect from the brand. The process is simple and efficient: you check in, provide your email address, get queued up, and they send you a text when they're ready for you. It's organized, professional, and respectful of your time. The technician was competent, friendly, and handled my adjustment quickly. This location is what I would call a cute little jewel box of a Warby Parker -- well-designed, clean, and staffed with knowledgeable opticians on-site. I've visited multiple locations across different cities while traveling for work, and I haven't been disappointed yet. That level of consistency really matters to me. Another thing I appreciate is that Warby Parker stores are usually located in attractive, walkable shopping centers, and Waverly is no exception. It's a high-end, thoughtfully designed area with plenty to do while you wait. There's great window shopping, convenient parking, and a nice mix of restaurants and retail. I especially enjoy stopping by nearby spots like Paris Baguette for something sweet, and Chuy's, which always brings back nostalgic flavors for me. Having those options nearby makes the visit feel easy and enjoyable rather than just another errand. And of course, one of the biggest benefits is the value. You can get quality frames starting around $95, and the lifetime adjustments are a real bonus. Being able to walk into any location and get help quickly -- no matter where you are -- makes the investment worthwhile. Great customer service, convenient locations, reliable adjustments, and a pleasant place to spend a little time. If you're looking for eyeglass frames and dependable service, Warby Parker is definitely worth checking out.
