Enjoyed two breakfast buffets and one dinner at the Piedmont Grille. Good food and very good service. Nuff said.

We had a very good supper tonight, going a little early at 6:30 before the rush. My wife enjoyed an excellent ribeye and I had the shrimp and grits while splitting a cheesecake for dessert. A little pricey but nothing inconsistent with what we expected. The meat was tender and flavorful and the potatoes were perfectly cooked and seasoned. My shrimp and grits were just right on the portions and cooked and seasoned to my satisfaction. The cheesecake was delicious. My wife raves about the sweet tea, which is made fresh onsite - she said it was the best she'd ever had!. Mike, our server, was outstanding and a true professional. Dinner: Cason's service was awful. It took 20 minutes to be greeted and get 2 waters for our kids. It easily took another 20 to get adult drinks. We were seated outside and the mosquitos were kicking and the entire patio was getting eaten alive. We ended up asking them for a lighter to light citronella candles, which didn't help. Service was so slow and we spent easily 2.5 hours overall on the entire dinner process which turned out to be subpar. Breakfast: The omelet station was on point :) and the buffet selection was good! Room Service: If you want room service they won't answer the phone, until 5 minutes past 11pm...even if you call for 20 minutes before they close. Then the front desk offered no suggestions for outside food delivery options but did suggest using their vending machine. read more

Excellent breakfast buffet includes custom omelette and pancake station. Lots of variety including eggs, frittata, fruit, yogurt, sausage, grits, oatmeal and biscuits. The server was darling. Southern hospitality. read more

What went wrong?? Went here two years ago and was so impressed. Just left the sad display called the "seafood buffet" and couldn't be more disappointed. Very bad excuse for seafood reminded me of a $9.99 cheap buffet diner. I don't recommend. read more

Soooo over-priced for the quality of food at the seafood buffet. After tip, it was $42 for just myself. The service was great, though! Our waitress kept our drinks filled, and was very good about taking our empty plates away. The fried shrimp was horrible, though. Extremely dry. Crab legs were alright, and there was a grill with a cook making shrimp and grits which were okay, made with an au jus sauce, and vegetables added as requested. The best part of the entire buffet and probably the only reason I'd ever go back to that restaurant...the pecan pie!! Soooo delicious! A must-try if you're there!! read more

We tried the seafood buffet before the balloon festival. The raw oysters were not remotely fresh and had a strong fishy taste. The crab claws were way overcooked. The fried shrimp and boiled shrimp were OK but nothing exciting. All in all, buffet at a Golden Corral would have been better. It was not what I was expecting. read more

Our pkg at Mountain Creek Inn included breakfast. Staff said we had a choice of The Country Store or Piedmont Grill which is located in the resort and spa. They said the Piedmont was the better choice. Would have hated to see The County Store. Buffet was empty on eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy. Pre-made waffles were also empty. The omelet station was 10 people deep. Made one skillet at a time. By the time we returned to our table, hot water could not brew a cup of tea. read more

Just sat here for a sandwich and it has taken over an hour for them to bring it on the table. Sandwich was all right but service is way too slow. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE IF YOU are hungry and do not have time. They can do a better job at their time, I will never come back here ever to waste my precious time for a petty sandwich. read more

Breakfast at Piedmont Grille was very disappointing. They have a buffet but the $18.50 price tag is too high. I had bananas foster French toast which was described as flambé bananas, candied pecans, fresh whipped cream with French toast. Floating a few slices of bananas and some pecan pieces in warm syrup doesn't measure up! The fresh whipped cream tasted like cool whip. Even the actual French toast was pretty flavorless. Definitely will never have breakfast here again. read more

Stopped in for the prime rib buffet dinner whist at the gardens for a spa weekend. Disappointing. Salad "bar" was basically lettuce, a couple sad vegetables, two dressings....and what I suspect was a pile of imitation crab (odd, given the crab claws on the seafood bar). Seafood was underwhelming - fresh oysters and boiled shrimp were just ok, fried shrimp and oysters were soggy (bc that's what happens when you put hot fried food in a covered vessel all night), crab claws were dry...and I had to ask and wait for crab cracker thingies - seems like if you are serving crab, you'd have these available (and maybe drawn butter bc, let's be honest, unless it's really good, crab is mainly a butter vehicle). Prime rib may have been the highlight, but it was slightly over done and fatty for my taste (but the horseradish cream sauce was good!)..and dessert was meh - I had the banana cream pie (soggy crust) and itty bitty carrot cake, definitely not worth the calories. They did have some nice crackers and cheese though....so, I guess if you love horseradish sauce and Brie, this could be your jam, otherwise, save your $30 for a nice dinner when you get back to Atlanta. read more

Seafood buffet, breakfast buffet, burgers, salads, and she crab soup-we enjoyed it all. Good variety on the buffets. Shrimp and grits station during the seafood buffet was a new experience for us, but we both were pleasantly surprised. The young man that prepared our shrimp and grits Friday night prepared our omelets Saturday morning. He did a great job on both. The muscadine Dijon vinaigrette on the Lodge salad was tasty. If you like she crab soup, be sure to try theirs. Oh, if you have the seafood buffet, save a little room for the dessert station. The air conditioner worked very well when we were there. You might take a jacket or sweater. read more

I live within 20 miles of Pine Mountain and really WANTED to love this restaurant. I've been there twice. The lunch was excellent. Bright, comfortable room. Great service. Excellent fresh food. We were celebrating a birthday, and the staff surprised us with a delicious dessert platter. Dinner offered the same excellent food at very high prices for a restaurant with this kind of atmosphere. Let me explain...I made a reservation for 4 at "nice, quiet table." When we arrived, I heard a baby screaming. I asked the hostess not to seat us by the baby. I could not believe my eyes when she headed straight for the table next to them. Trying to be discreet, I called her over and repeated my request. She had an incredulous look on her face. I explained that the four of us just wanted a nice, quiet table where we could talk. So..she placed us right beside a table of 8 very loud people. We tried, but we could tell this just wasn't going to work, so I went back and explained that we REALLY wanted a nice quiet table. Now understand that the restaurant only had 2 or 3 tables of diners when we arrived. There was plenty of space. This time the server (very nice and accommodating) led us to a table in the far corner of the dining room. It was perfect. The dinner was excellent. We all ordered something different. Pan seared trout (excellent), prime rib (excellent), farm raised chicken (excellent) and salmon (excellent). No complaints about the food. My only complaint is that the very loud open room was not in keeping with the high prices. I expect true fine dining to be an experience from start to finish. 5 stars for the quality of the food 2 stars for the ambiance 1 star for the hostess 4 stars for the server We will continue to go to Warehouse Bistro in Opelika for our local fine dining "experience." read more

Arrived for a conference Went to grill for a quick lunch Hubby & I ordered the Chicken Caesar It was ok. However I was disappointed that the Parmesan cheese was grated & shredded not shaved which is tastier and fresher. This was a wonderful experience with impeccable food and superior service. We went to eat here at the Piedmont Grille after wondering through the gardens and working up an apetite. We stopped at two separate residents in the garden, however both were closed (one seasonal, one only dinner hours). But what a gem we found at the lodge! We were seated by a large window overlooking the gardens patio, our server Ebony was attentive and explained the specials, got our drink orders promptly, and explained the appetizers which we took advantage of by having the fried green tomatoes. The tomatoes were fresh, not slimy, and perfectly crunchy and crisp! For my meal, I enjoyed the cheeseburger with french fries. I don't say this often, but this is one of the juices, plump, tasty hamburgers I have ever enjoyed in my 26 years of life! The burger was cooked perfectly medium with a French onion bun and sweet pickles. It was quite tasty and just what I needed after an eventful and breathtaking view of the gardens read more

This is the worst food we have ever tried to eat. Waitress didn't want us to order from menu so started out with Buffett. I had salad and my husband had some shrimp it was so bad we asked could we pay the $30 for one buffet and then order from menu. Food was just inedible server could care less. Never again read more

We stopped in after seeing the Fantasy In Lights as we were wanting a nice diner and this restaurant was located in our hotel. I will first say our service was great. Mike went out of his way to see we had everything we needed. We ordered the buffet for the 4yr old, as it was free and we knew he wouldn't eat much. Most of the items on the buffet were mediocre at best. Some of the food appeared to have been out a while. My husband ordered the prime rib. It was cooked (medium rare)the way he ordered and looked nice. However, it was severely under seasoned and quite tough. Even a steak knife had trouble cutting it. I ordered the chicken Oscar. The chicken was very dry and under seasoned. I think I saw a drop of 2 of the hollandaise and what little bit of crab was too fishy to eat. The scoop of risotto was tasty. All in all the restaurant is very convenient and service was great, but that was the worst $75 worth of food I have ever eaten. read more

Incredible! It's difficult to find good southern cooking any more, but Piedmont Grille is a real treat. I savored every bite of the Shrimp and Grits, while the rest of my group feasted on all-u-can-eat crab legs, shrimp, mussels and oysters. Absolutely amazing! read more
