Great Barbecue in Pine Mountain The 3 Lil Pigs restaurant in Pine Mountain, Georgia, turned out to be an excellent stop and easily one of the best casual barbecue spots in the area. You order at the counter and they bring the food right to your table, which keeps things quick and simple. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, a serve-yourself drink station, and plenty of parking right behind the restaurant. The dining area is a comfortable mix of booths and tables, very clean, and the staff were friendly and attentive--checking in at least twice to make sure everything was good. Prices were reasonable, especially considering the portion sizes. I ordered the baby back rib sandwich, which was unique in that the ribs were still on the bone, wrapped in tin foil, and so tender they fell right off when you made your own sandwich with the provided bun. It came with two sides for about twelve dollars, and the flavor and tenderness were both excellent. Drinks are separate, but that's typical for this style of place. Everything about the visit--from the food to the service and cleanliness--was top notch. It's easy to find, has a relaxed atmosphere, and feels like the kind of place people come back to often. I enjoyed the place. The pork bbq could use a bit more smoke. For that I would add a star. Otherwise, I would say it was most excellent BBQ. The ribs were amazing. They had more meat and flavor than any I've ever eaten... ever. The half rack that my wife bought was enough for her and me too! Did I mention that they were amazing? Service is great. As we ordered the gal behind the counter made some great suggestions to us. I got a salad with my pork. That's something that I rarely do, but I saw a salad on someone's table and it looked good. It was. The place is spacious and looks like typical BBQ decor. Servings are very large. I ate some of my pork after finishing half of the ribs. I had enough left over for a large serving for lunch the next day. I slathered some BBQ sauce on before packing it in a to-go box. It was, I think, better the next day. Among the 4 of us, we had the turkey, pork, and chicken. All three meats were tasteless. All tasted as if they were straight from a package in the frozen meat department. It's been awhile since we've eaten at the new location. Like a couple of years. I don't typically eat out on a Sunday night as I'm always concerned about the freshness of the food. We ate inside and the place is clean and the staff is pleasant. Food comes out pretty quick and the best part is that it's hot. We picked a chipped pork plate and ribs plate. Food was amazing, loved loved the beans! Potato salad was homemade and good! The kids had chili dog, hot dog and grilled cheese and ate every bit and loved it. We had the burger with bacon and cheese and was one of the best burgers I've ever had! The turkey bacon Swiss was amazing and the ribs were very good we had the mild sauce which had a kick to it , the beans also have a nice kick but not to hot! Coleslaw was good! Three Lil Pigs is a casual, local restaurant that is located a short drive from Callaway Gardens. The format is you place your order at the counter/cashier, self-service drink station, and the staff delivers your order to your table. Food is served on disposable dish ware. I ordered the Baby Back Ribs plate. The ribs are served in a thick tin foil wrapper that was completely sealed. I carefully open the foil, and I was pleasantly surprised. Inside was a generous slab of big meaty ribs. They had a beautiful color and were literally steaming with heat. The ribs were the MOST TENDER BABY BACKS THAT I HAVE EVER HAD. The meat easily fell off the bones, and I use the plastic utensils to pull the meat into bite sized pieces. The barbecue sauce Is vinegar based, and it was good. The "hot" version was spicy as advertised. The "plates" are served with three sides. The sides are 4 ounce portions that are served in styrofoam cups. I choose the black eyed peas, Brunswick stew, and pasta salad. The black eyed peas were soft and seasoned well. Brunswick stew recipes vary widely, and I thought their recipe was pretty good. It includes okra and tomatoes and less meat then typical Brunswick stew that I have had. The pasta salad was my least favorite. The pasta, cheese, and peas were cold and bit clumpy. read more

Went to dinner with my mom. She spoke with manager that baby back ribs don't smell and taste like they usually do and kindly asked for a replacement. They simply just tore off the piece she tried and cooked it and re-foiled it. We live in pine mountain and usually enjoy coming , but disappointed the manager didn't offer a solution and lied about replacing her order. We simply left and threw the ribs away. I why in about an hour ago, paid just under $25 for 2 chipped sandwiches that come with 2 small sides to go. Get home with it and neither of us can even eat this horrible food. The meat on the sandwich has that smell and taste that meat has once it's been refrigerated and then heated in the microwave. The potatoes in the potato salad are half cooked at best, the beans have okay flavor but what we got was mostly a cup of liquid. Now let's talk about the worst customer service I've had in a long time, even in todays world where customer service doesn't seem to matter, the person taking orders up front has the personality of a stump. Simple, easy, quick fare. They don't have fries so if you get a burger just know you won't be getting fries, you get chips (or other sides, but not fries). It comes with 3 sides which is nice since you usually only get 2 sides with a combo plate when you go to places. The lady at the register was friendly and helpful when ordering. Outstanding BBQ!!! Found the place after a visit to a local attraction. Young cashier was very helpful and suggested the ribs. The meat fell off the bone without effort and the sauce had a hint of spice to give the ribs some kick. Coleslaw was good but maybe needs less Mayo. Potato salad was spot on as well. Others in our large group had salads and burgers and everyone was very happy with their meal. Could have been an off day for one older cashier as she seemed annoyed answering any questions or helping anyone. First off we were not greeted properly, no smile, no how can I help you. Just, "do you know what you want?" The food was mediocre at best. Turkey, Swiss and bacon was just that. No surprises there! No mayo, tomato, lettuce etc. It was very dry with ONE slice of bacon. The bread wasn't even toasted, just a couple grill marks. The burger was nothing to write home about. Just okay. The sliced pork was good but the ribs seemed like they were boiled. Sides were the best thing about the meal. All together for three it was $50 which was quite expensive for the meal we received. We were in Pine Mountain after a triathlon at Callaway on Sunday. We figured we could find a nice little place in town to eat... wrong. There are no restaurants in town open on Sunday. We passed this place on the way in, so we figured we should just go back. It was PACKED. Apparently this is the only place that is open (besides the oyster house) on Sunday. We had 2 pups with us, so we had to sit outside. Not sure why pups weren't allowed on the porch, but oh well. We waited in line for about 15 minutes to order our food. There were 5 of us. 3 got our food fairly quick, but the plate that my husband and I ordered didn't come... 5 min, 10 min, finally my husband went inside to ask about it. Oops we forgot to put it in. After about 10 more minutes, our food came out, they got the sides wrong, but oh well, I'll take it after that amount of time because Lord knows how long it would take to request the correct items. The food overall was fine. Nothing great, not bad. All the sides were fairly spicy, which I wasn't a fan of, but if you like spicy, then go for it! I wouldn't stop here again. You'd think with them knowing they are one of the only places open on Sundays, they would be better staffed and have their act together. read more
