Overpriced disappointing food! This was the second time I got food from here. I tried to give Pielands a second chance after being disappointed the first time but it got even worse. I ordered food for delivery and it came 30 minutes late. It seems like my food wasn't made until the driver arrived to the restaurant. I got the limited time chicken, bacon, ranch pizza. It barely had any cheese or chicken on it. I didn't taste or see any ranch on it. The buffalo wings were soggy by the time I got them. Won't be coming back here. I paid $45 for bad food. I could've paid less than $20 for dominoes which would've tasted better. read more

The place was pretty busy as it was a Friday evening. Most people were ordering to go as it has a very small dining area and it's pretty much set up for takeout. I ordered the farmers market pizza to go. I called them to ask if it was possible to add garlic because on the website it says "No additional toppings". They checked and decided that request was an ok. I was disappointed that it was an additional $3.99 for fresh garlic yet I honestly couldn't find nor taste the garlic that much after biting into it, but such as it is. The pizza tasted very fresh with all of the veggies and there was a sweetness about it that complemented it very well. I'm not sure if it was the tomatoes that were sweet, but I did like the flavor. Unfortunately, the crust was a little overdone for my liking. I think this was just the luck of the draw. I'll try again next time and I'm not adding the charge of the sprinkles of garlic. I don't like posting poor reviews but, for safety, I feel the public should be aware. Our pizza appeared to be undercooked. We tried it anyway and immediately experienced an awful case of food poisoning. We were up all night in pain and discomfort. Stuck in the bathroom, my wife was vomiting so much her nose started bleeding. I hope for the publics safety, this restaurant's health standards improve. read more

Hmmm, wish I loved it but I didn't hate it! The service was friendly over the phone and in person. Ordered the Italian Stallion and buffalo wings. The pizza was generous in size and the toppings portions were fair, but I think what was lacking is flavor. The crust needed more oil/butter plus herbs and salt - but the dough was actually great and tasted fresh. The toppings tasted fresh and high quality as well, but nothing stood out. 6.5/10 Also glad to report the wings were good. The buffalo sauce definitely has a kick and the wings are meaty, juicy, and cooked well. But if you don't like meaty wings, keep that in mind. Overall, my rating is just because I'm not sure if I'd recommend Pielands. When I pay a premium for pizza ($30+) I expect something special and/or to be blown away. Hi everyone! It's been a minute since I posted a review. One, the restaurant industry is not as interesting as it use to be! However, I came across a little gem! Pier and is a throw back to the pizza places on the corner in Pittsburgh! The pizza crust is actually a wonderful texture, and there are many toppings to choose from. The super cool thing is you can buy it by the slice!! For us real connoisseurs of pizza, this is heaven! Think of all the slices to try! The sandwiches were also a great treat! I love bread, and sweetheart, the bread is to die for! The salads are delicious, the calzone has just enough filling, so you're not just eating dough. As far as I'm concerned, my search for Atlanta's best gluten-free pizza is over. I was heartened by the praise of Pielands' GF crust and found them to be overwhelmingly correct. On the menu, the sole GF offering is in the form of a square personal pan size, and it includes one topping. Additional toppings can be added for a charge (though celiac diners beware: none of the toppings are safe). I wasn't sold on the look of things when the pie first came out since it looked heavily browned and burnt, but the taste was outstanding. The sauce is sweet in a recognizably NY-style, with a crust that I wouldn't have known was gluten-free if I hadn't ordered it myself. It was crispy with good chew, and the Italian sausage I'd chosen as my topping was savory without being too salty. My husband ordered two grandma slices from the ready pans, and I'm afraid he was less than enthused with his choices. Both of his slices were floppy and oily. After tasting mine, my non-GF husband remarked that he should've ordered one for himself too. We both loved the chef's salad, which was a healthy serving and surprisingly robust with toppings like olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, cubed cheese, sliced salami, pickled onions, and pickled peppers. It was a riot of colors in a bowl and a great starter for our meal. Service at the counter was brisk and business-like, though they were happy to answer whatever questions we had about the menu. They bring the food to your table (which has a dedicated pizza stand! I love little details like these), but you bus your own tray and trash afterwards. Inside, the restaurant has a casual, retro dive-bar feel, with 80s tunes (at least while I was there) and even a Ms. Pacman game machine in the corner. So this place is kind of tucked away but it's in the open if that makes sense. If you don't know where you're going you may not even see it. But it is a good gem and the neighborhood. It's located in the Virginia Highlands area and that area maybe small but it's very walkable. I came on Wednesday and they had dollar wing night. If you know how much wings cost in Atlanta, it's definitely worth it lol. I talked to the guys there, a couple of them, they were actually pretty cool. So we were their favors were and told me what they didn't necessarily like, since I was a first-timer. We are good conversation. They were just generally and genuinely decent when it came to conversation so I appreciate the customer service. There is indoor and outdoor seating and a TV you want to watch something. Didn't know what the weather is like, you may want to sit outside but at the same time it was too hot, you may not want to lol. But at least it's an option. I tried the garlic parmesan wings, I tried the lemon pepper wings, and I got a pepperoni slice as well as the pizza of the day (green granny). Also got a couple of garlic knots as well, just because. The parm wings were drenched in garlic parm and they were really good. The lemon pepper wings were okay, kind of like a lemon pepper semi wet. Comparing it to the level of wetness from the garlic parm (as you can see in the pics, its definitely a difference). But they were still good. The green granny was okay, if you like pesto. I was not sure what I expected, but it was the special pizza of the day so I went for it. The pepperoni slice was huge and had a good taste to it, the pepperoni that they used set it off. The garlic knots, I probably would not get again. They came out pretty hard and they were not worth the chewing (considering it was bread). Maybe this was an off batch, but still. Service is fine but the food is so inconsistent and I just had the worst meatball sub of my life, and that includes going through college. The meatballs had no flavor (have you heard of salt?) and the second meatball almost broke my tooth it was so dry. No marinara sauce. Seriously, come on. I'm nauseous from that sub. Pretty annoying because I'm walking distance but I'm done with this place. The pizzas can be good but not worth it. I came back for a second time after a previously mediocre experience and boy was it a lot better and so good pizza-wise. We ordered to-go and on a weeknight and pick up was easy. Service was really great as our pizza was ready but they mentioned the garlic knots were still being warmed up - no biggie at all. The pizza was super good and hot. The toppings you definitely could tell were fresh. The garlic knots I still found to be lackluster and just doughy and a rather crispy near burnt bottom. I'm so glad I tried this place. I just randomly decided that I wanted pizza. So I looked on Yelp and found this place. TikTok also highly recommended this place. So I got in the car and went there. Staff was friendly, and helpful. I didn't realize that they only have certain pizzas available for slices. So I settled on pepperoni and a white slice of pizza. It is fair to note that they also have sandwiches and appetizers available. I got two huge slices and it cost me $9. You cannot be that. And I am grateful bc the slices ended up being both lunch and dinner. So again, I was very happy with the price. Pielands was just ok. They have a great marketing team that really pushes the restaurant but I wasn't really impressed. I had two slices one was a garden one which was good I loved the fresh veggies. Food safety issues here!! I wish I had read the reviews on here before ordering. Similar to another customer, my pizza was undercooked, it was basically gooey dough with sauce and cheese. I only managed to eat one slice and am really regretting spending any money on this place. I ordered chicken wings too, but was also only able to eat one of those because it tasted terrible. Came to Pielands for the first time on a Sunday night. I have to agree with nearly all of the other reviews - while the food is great, the restaurant itself is pretty chaotic and disorganized. The staff were clearly overwhelmed at all of the uber eats / to go orders on top of dine in customers. As a result, the dining area was not clean and there was a long line of stressed out customers waiting to place their dine in order. While I did enjoy the pizza, I'll probably stick to visiting on a quieter day of the week until the restaurant is a bit more organized and has a better system in play. read more

Came here for dinner with my family. It was busy when we got there but we were able to order in a few minutes. We got the cheesy bread and the Piedmont Pep. There was seating available because it seemed most orders were takeout. We had to wait about 20-30 minutes for our cheesy bread to come out. It was piping hot when we got it and it was delicious! Our pizza came out a few minutes later and that was also very hot. The pizza was ok to me. the crust tasted good but it didn't hold the sauce, cheese, and pepperoni very well because it mostly just slid off when you try to bite it. The flavor was good though, had a nice little kick to it. The staff was working hard! The seating area was pretty dirty. so we just cleaned the table ourselves and they didn't have any clean cups the first 20 minutes we were there. We had to go back to the counter to re-ask for cups. When visiting Atlanta, we stopped here for a quick lunch while in Virginia-Highland. The reviews were good and quick New York style pizza seemed like a great option! I was not overly impressed. The cashier/hostess was friendly upon arrival. We placed our order and found a nice table in the window. The pizza did not impress. It wasn't bad but it wasn't good. Pielands is absolutely hands down the best pizza in Atlanta, period! Recently, I ordered the 'Nonie' pizza pie and added two optional toppings for a friend and myself. It was so delicious!! The toppings are FRESH! And that is a part of why it makes it different. I picked the pizza up on a Sunday about 30 minutes before they were scheduled to close. When I arrived, you may expect to find a bunch of employees ready to go home, but what I found was probably the friendliest end of day staff that you could hire. And I was handed my pie by someone who had a huge smile on his face as if he knew how much I was going to enjoy this pizza pie. It makes all the difference in the world when you run into nice people who are friendly and happy and when you have a great product, you have a great experience. I found this gem on Instagram and I'm happy I did. Visited this place on a Thursday evening and I key gem is to order ahead of your doing take it out. I've been looking for pizza places that remind me of home (NJ) since moving to GA and I think I've found it. To me, it's about the Cheese, sauce and bread and they nailed it. They were quite busy this evening and a little backed up but I love how it was an all teams on deck kind of situation. The way they pumped out orders smoothly and efficiently was admirable. While waiting the cashier did offer a complimentary fountain drink since they were backed up, which is a nice gesture. Back to the food. It was delicious! The wings were delicious. I completely recommend pielands! I had to try a sub and slice on my visit. I decided to get the Italian sub and a pepperoni slice. Italian sub was amazing! The sub bread is freshly baked. I have honestly never tried any sub more amazing then this one. The bread was my favorite part of the sub. Everything went together so well but the bread was the finishing touch! The pepperoni slice was one of the best in Atlanta. There was so much flavor, from the sauce to the cheese, and the pepperonis. It was smaller pepperoni then what most other places use and I definitely prefer this one. I am in love with pielands and will be back very soon as it is becoming one of my regular spots.
