This review is based on the seasonal "Winter Land Skate the Skyline" experience. What a unique and quintessential NYC holiday experience! Where else can you ice skate out on a rooftop with gorgeous views of the Brooklyn Bridge? I reserved our tickets in advance online ($35 for a 2.5 hour window to skate, including skate rentals). The rink is located in the South Street Seaport area. When you arrive at the rooftop you'll see the line for skate rentals. We got to take the "fast pass" line because I have a Chase Sapphire credit card! The skate rental process was quick, efficient, and easy. The staff members were friendly and helpful. The skates were also really easy to use (they work like roller blades or ski boots, not like lace-up boots). The rink was surprisingly quiet (maybe because it was a rainy day) so it was easy to ice skate around. The rink is much smaller than Rockefeller Center or Bryant Park, but the views are out of this world. There's also small food/lounge areas on the roof. This is a must-do experience! read more

My rating is from a concert perspective at The Rooftop venue. The building is nicely lit at night and easily noticeable along the East River from several blocks down. The backdrop of the concert has a beautiful view of the Brooklyn Bridge. You can take as many pictures as you can by the waters with the bridge even if you're not attending the concert. I arrived at 6:50 to line up for a concert that started at 7pm and got in around 7:20pm. It felt like I had a tour of most of the outside of the building and snapped some nice pictures of the Brooklyn Bridge while I was at it waiting on the long line. Security was really thorough with the bag checks, which contributed to the wait, but that is appreciated from a safety standpoint. The show was cut short because of a thunderstorm, so it doesn't seem like it was a rain-or-shine venue like it said online -- again it was for safety reasons. It is an open venue on the rooftop and there is no cover. However they did hand out ponchos when it got really bad after the show. read more

I had an amazing time at this venue! The setting was spectacular. Getting skyline views of Brooklyn, the Brooklyn Bridge, and having lower Manhattan tower above you is a beautiful and electrifying experience, especially with the cheers of the crowd and good vibes flowing. Staff were all professional and courteous. Sound and lighting were absolutely incredible, the stage is framed at the top with these cubes that light up in different colors and patterns, in addition to the dramatic stage lighting. Lot's to look at and take in! I also love the women's bathroom - they finally gave us enough stalls! I mean for real, I don't know how many there are, but there were 6 rows that must have had like 10 stalls in each row. Right after the show was over there was NO LINE. Good work Pier 17. My only gripe is with the lines for alcohol/food. It's awesome that they serve food during a show, but it took at least 20 minutes to get through the line. This is pretty much the case at any venue but here I feel like they might have the space to remedy it. read more

The semi-recently renovated Pier 17 is an indoor/outdoor mall at South Street Seaport. As a full-time vagrant, let me recommend this as a place for loitering. There's a variety of outdoor seating options along the pier. The north side has a view of three bridges. The east side has a view of Brooklyn. The south side has a view of Governor's Island. There's such good people watching. So many #influencers doing elaborate photo shoots! A mix of tourists and miserable commuters getting on and off the ferry! So many lost tourists! So many awkward dates! There appears to be wifi, but I was too busy people watching to fully investigate. If the wifi here is sketchy, cross the street and do your downloading at South Street Seaport. Or buy a book at McNally Jackson if you're doing a digital detox. The eateries and bars downstairs are all open to the water, which is perfect for life in the age of covid. There's also the Fulton Market across the street (if it's open, or the Key Food further up on Fulton if it's not). Go ahead and eat your CVS candy and drink your booze out of a Nalgene you found on a stoop, smug in the knowledge that you're not paying $15 for a cocktail and you're even closer to the water. Manhattan is not exactly bursting with public bathrooms. Pier 17's toilets, on the 4th floor, very likely have the best view of any public restroom in NYC. There are a lot of them and the building is new, so they should be nice. Alas, they have been visited by a plague of tourists with weak thigh muscles and bad aim. If you can't handle the hover, please clean up after yourself. read more

I had the privilege of attending a LiveNation show of my friend's band - The Fall of Troy as they headlines for AlexisOnFire. The green rooms were top notch. You felt like you were in a 5 star hotel. Pier 17 is becoming a classy hub for sightseeing cruises, catching the Hamptons Jitney and now there is a cool concert venue to enjoy live shows. So many things have changed over the years and now this metamorphosis has truly revitalized the Seaport. There's the R17 for grabbing cocktails on a roof top. There are a plethora of restaurants dotting the pier. And if you dont want to partake in any of those functions.. what do you do?? If you are a native New Yorker it's fun to act like a tourist and marvel at the following at Pier 17: 1. My bridge, aka The Brooklyn Bridge. She is so beautiful rising up from the water and winking at us 2. The boats: The NY Ferry! The Circle Line! The party boats you can catch from many boat terminals. We saw a Latin music boat pass by and the boat was rocking back and forth, yes dancing in the water! 3. The skyline!! NY has the best skyline to boot and staring at it with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, even better! 4. The sunset!! Seeing Lady Liberty glowing in the water is a majestic sight! 5. The Seaport Museum! Learning the history of this magical place 6. The cute shops! I love Alexis Bittar jewelry ( he's from Bklyn!) 7. This was a really nice vibe--ambiance wise. Upon arrival, we were promptly taken to our cabin which was warm and cozy. The menus are online due to COVID and from a safety perspective, the staff did a great job of maintaining distances and they said each cabin is completely sanitized between each visit. They get 5 stars for ambiance. Where they lose is with the food. They were serving their winter menu which to me appeared to kind of be all over the place and didn't really fit the theme of winter overall. I had the meatballs and polenta which was $30 and severely under-portioned for the price. The presentation was also lacking but it's covid, so I get the use of disposable containers as opposed to plates. The food came out in like 10 minutes and was barely warm which led me to believe that it was warmed up. Meatballs could've been a bit larger and I left still a bit hungry. I'm giving 2 stars for the food. It was nice to visit but I would not return as it was a bit pretentious for my taste. read more

The Greens at Pier 17 is the rooftop bar experience at the Seaport. It's a little out of the way for me because I came by train but if you arrived in a cab then they can drive you right up to the building it seems. If you've never been to this building, it looks very much like a mall, kinda like the one at Hudson Yards. You have to go up a bunch of escalators to get to the rooftop. Once you make it to the receptionist desk, they ask you for your reservation information and assign you an igloo which is laid out almost like a parking lot with a letter and a number. Easy to navigate but they walk you over to it anyway. The view on the rooftop is nice and you can take some nice pictures up there. The igloo itself is cozy, enough seating for maybe four to five people comfortably. It had a heater which is adjustable and a television with a fireplace video playing. You order your food through the QR code card on the table, which is simple enough. We ordered some fondu for the table which came with bread and some veggies to dip. Very tasty, and great for a gathering. I think this is actually the first time I had cheese fondu. (I used to work in catering and we had a gigantic chocolate fountain. I once actually dropped the entire thing by accident right after I unplugged it from the wall and basically created a chocolate river on the carpet in the cocktail room. Not important...but funny lol) I ordered a burger and fries which came pretty quickly. I gotta say, it was nothing to write home about. But I guess...something to Yelp about? It was just, not memorable I suppose. Fries were also pretty mediocre unfortunately. But honestly, I wasn't expecting it to be incredible. This experience was more about the little igloos and a restaurant doing what it can during Covid so I'll give them that. So you also only get a certain amount of time. Once that is getting close, the hostess comes around to basically tell you that your time is almost up. We happened to go at a time where most of the igloos were empty, so we were given some extra time. read more

We went to Pier 17 for my sons birthday. The views at atmosphere are as good as you would expect. The food is basic. Not horrible. But definitely not up to par with the atmosphere. I would not eat if I went back. It was blazing hot in the houses at 12:30-2. I would not go back at that time. Overall it was worth the experience. Wouldn't be worth the return. read more

I saw the Psychedelic Furs concert here. The entry process went smoothly. I was really impressed with the venue. The spacious area and the sound system was great. There were at least four bars as well as 2 food truck stations. The lines went pretty quick which. I never waited more than 5 minutes. This is a plus when you're at a concert and don't want to miss the show. Staff were friendly and helpful. What I didnt like was the very steep prices for beer, liquor and water. Yes...thats kind of the norm in big venues but $15 for a Laguinta is high!! Overall i'd definitely come back here for more events. read more

What an amazing night at The Greens!! My husband and I spent our evening watching the sunset, drinking yummy yummy drinks (Pina Colada & The Greens cocktail), and eating good food. My husband got the burger and fries, and I got the fish and chips. Although both were great tasting...for $24 for fish and chips, I need a bigger portion. I got like 2 small cod pieces and literally 6 "kinda" think chips. My husbands burger (which was way less expensive) had a hugggeee portion. But besides that everything was perfect!! I was nervous because we had a 6:15pm reservation but we hit traffic which made us 15 min late. I looked everywhere online for a phone number but they do not have one listed. The number for the rooftop goes to voicemail saying they are closed due to the pandemic. BUT we arrived and they were so accommodating and nice about it. Such a beautiful pier and I love the new space! I've had ice skating and visiting Pier 17 on my list and I was able to check them both off from my list yesterday. The Ice skating rink is small for this expecting a rink similar to Bryant Park. I recommend purchasing tickets in advance and bringing your own locker to save the $11 fee for a new one. The space was marvelous and most of all we got to see the sunset and the amazing view of the Brooklyn bridge. read more

Why be a packed sardine at other ice skating rinks in the city when this one was near empty? Also can we talk about the view of both the Manhattan Bridge and the Brooklyn Bridge. Take a seat at the bar, play cornhole or skate and their is an option for everyone. The bar was empty when I was there but the restaurant was pretty busy. Went here for the Avril Lavigne concert with my better half and bestfriends! It was a blast! Upon entering, the skyline views were already breathtaking. The rooftop area was even more amazing because of the amazing skyline views of New York. It is definitely an amazing outdoor concert venue. The staging and sounds were amazing. I like that it is spacious. They serve booze on a pricier side but that is expected. Also-- Avril was amazing and would never age! Here's to never growing up! Looking forward for more concerts here. Recently came to Pier 17 to check out a last minute show being put on by Mike Shinoda. Honestly I did not expect the production value of the show to be very high (last minute ticket at 25$). I hadn't come to realize that so much work had been put into South Street Seaport and was amazed by the stage that they had put in. The Pier 17 stage easily takes the top spot for one of my favorite stages in NYC. The rooftop stage has a stunning backdrop of the Brooklyn Bridge and the NYC skyline to the left. The stage design, while looking simple at first was actually quite complicated and capable of tons of different lighting effects. The sound design was a bit lacking. The speaker placement seemed to be only set properly if you're standing directly in front of the stage. The left and right sides sounded a bit off. Drinks at Pier 17 were quite bit higher than NYC prices. I paid about $28 for two tall cans of beer. They definitely had other bars that served more liquor-centric drinks but I was in a mood for beer. On top of their bar offerings, I also saw some food trucks placed on top of the roof, which have to be checked out next time I go. Pier 17 was a stunning revelation of what a good venue in NYC can accomplish. I'm a bit upset that I only found out about this venue at the end of summer but that's on me. I'm definitely going to see as many shows as I can at Pier 17 before the season ends and I already can't wait for the lineup next year! read more

Pier 17 is an amazing place for the view. The Heineken Lounge is what I am reviewing as it does not come up as a separate entity on yelp. The beer and wine on tap is decent and a bit pricey 13-18. It is expensive. Drinks are $17+ The bartenders are very attentive and nice. I have always had good service. They seem to have perpetual problems with their credit card machines The only bad is the food $21 Charcuterie Plate. They have a cheese or meat plate but not one combined. The meat looks like it has been sitting around for days. It has a yellow tint to it. Total waste of money. My husband ordered the food without me knowing it as I had a suspicion it wasn't great as I have not seen many people eating at the bar in my 3 visits here.Stick to the drinks only. read more

I attended a concert at Pier 17 and it was amazing. The rooftop has an excellent view of the Brooklyn Bridge. The New York skyscrapers hang right above you, when actually being on the waterfront. That area of south street has so much to do right on the waterfront. Seems like standing only when I attended this concert with some bleacher sitting in the far back. Didn't seem to bad wherever we stood because the stage was very well presented. It was a big stage with screens on both sides and special effects. The sound was good, heard the bands loud and clear. We started close to the stage, then after some drinks, we just hanged around the back. Plenty of bar/beverages areas set up along the one side of the venue, with a food place. Your basic stadium style menu. Of course everything is at New York pricing but the bartender definitely made the mule(drink) worth it. It was cool that night, around 50 and the wife was feeling it. We only needed a nice fall jacket and a scarf but better to be prepared. By the water expect it to always be colder and breezier. Not sure how it would of been if it was any colder. This review is for the concert venue on the roof. Came here for a Sunday evening summer concert. No lines to get in, lots of stands to get drinks (although options are limited for beer/wine). Drinks are pretty standardly overpriced for a NYC Concert venue ($9 for a larger Heineken can). Cool spot for a concert though, views are awesome. Sound is decent. Food was BEYOND disappointing. I would never eat here again. First, overpriced and 2nd just not good, and served COLD. How does one serve a meatball cold? Gross. It was also $12 for what was called a "Giant" meatball but was really very average sized. I have to comment on the bathrooms. I always dread going to bathrooms at concert venues, they're usually disgusting with ridiculously long lines. I almost didn't go because I didn't want to wait on line, but I'm glad I went. Not only was there no line because there were 100 stalls, but they were clean! I was impressed, for a concert venue. Hopefully it stays that way! Would definitely come back here for a show - eat beforehand or afterward! read more

I was excited to try this place as reservations were sold out for a while. We had the calamari which was bland and four jalapeño margaritas which were delicious. However, staff constantly came to remind of us of how much time we had left. It is a 90 min reservation. They came at 1 hour and ten minutes to remind us we only had 12 min left when in reality we had 20 min left. Then another lady came at 1 hour and twenty minutes to remind us we have 5 min left when in reality we had ten. I am conscious of time and would never overstay the 90 min. If you need to sanitize make it 85 min. I don't need a countdown. It also seems they cherry pick their seating as a white couple came after us and got prime seating. read more

This review is based on a quick stop exploring the pier. I haven't been down in this area to stay or explore besides going to industry kitchen. This is a great stop for a view and a quick drink. As usual, drinks on the river are generally always expensive, but I always have an issue with an expensive drink that's PRE MADE? I like to see what I'm drinking and will never complain about watching a bartender take their time with their craft. 3 stars for premade drinks, expensive, but 5 stars for view and location. There's a ton of space and lots of places to sit and relax. Definitely worth a stop, but not necessarily a stay. read more

It has been years since the seaport has been open. So happy that is in the beginning stages of opening. For now the side facing the Brooklyn Bridge is open. There are benches, picnic tables, single high seating facing the water, boardwalk stairs that you can lay and relaxing. There are restaurants and bars as well as food trucks. I had come here earlier this year for a Pink Martini concert, and I was in love with the view. When I heard this rooftop spot had an ice rink for the winter, I knew I had to come. Winterland exceeded my expectations. While the rink is rather small, it's illuminated and decorated very nicely. Once again, the view was phenomenal. I do believe the rental skates are hockey skates, but I brought my own. The prices are pretty fair, especially for late December. After skating, my party decided to grab a snack at the bar. Because we came during holiday break and it was a nice but busy day, the menu was understandably limited. The food turned out really good, and the staff was very polite. I would definitely come back here many more times. It was hard not to smile, skating around with such a view and pretty lights. My party and I had a great time! read more

I love Pier 17! It was a great addition to the Seaport as well as NYC! It is a new construction with a lot to offer, it just opened over the summer (2018) and they're really doing a lot with it. I went to the outdoor, waterfront bar over the summer which was amazing and this winter they opened up a rooftop ice skating rink, that I went to last night! It is $22 for admission and rentals which is a pretty good price for the city. They also have lockers available to put your person belongings in. I think you could bring your own lock or they sell them for $11 and then you can keep it after. It is a fairly small rink, but it is good because it isn't over crowded. Rinks like the one in Bryant Park, Rockefeller Center and Central Park get soo congested, it would be intimating if your a beginner level skater. The best part of this rink is, as you're going around the ice, you have an amazing view of the waterfront and the Brooklyn bridge. Great for photos! We went on Valentine's Day so there were a lot of couples. Definitely recommend for a fun winter activity! read more

This review is for manager/supervisor Sylvia only! For someone who works in customer service she is not friendly or helpful at all. All other security i spoke with were nice, accommodating and willing to listen and help. She was rude and dismissive to her own staff as they were trying to help me. Cut me off multiple times as I was trying to speak and explain my situation (had a security take something from me before an event and specifically said i would get it back at the end) she claimed my property was thrown out and I would not be getting it back, when 3 others of the staff said to me in front of her, no such thing would've happened. Come to find out the nice security lady that took my stuff still had it with her, out of a thousand people actually remember who i was and exactly what she took from my purse and gladly it back to me. Sylvia, as a lesson in customer service, it doesn't take anything from your job to be nice to the visitors that come to this venue. Im sure through the hundreds of events that go on here and the many people that travel in and out of this space this isn't your first rodeo. I was never rude or disrespectful with you or any of your staff especially since I work in customer service myself. Change your attitude sis, If you aren't a people person, you need a new profession. Other than that 5 star review for this venue absolutely beautiful and spacious. But be prepared to spend $8 for a regular bottle of Aquafina water. read more

Pier 17 is a little building tucked away (due to nearby construction) near South Side Seaport. The building itself is pretty big, but for some reason, the only thing that's happening is on the rooftop (at least for now, I guess?) It's basically the building next to the Wavertree ship (the big sail ship near South Side Seaport). In order to get to the happening part, you need to go up 2-3 sets of escalators. Once you get to the top, there is a pretty good view of bridges between Manhattan and Brooklyn. You can walk around the rooftop and soak it in. I happened to be there during sunset, and I'd definitely recommend you go check it out around there. In winter, there's a small skating rink up top. It costs a good $25 for the ticket and skate rental. It's not too bad, considering skating in NYC usually costs an arm and a leg (this still puzzles me). However, given the size of the rink, I'm not so sure it's worth it. There's also a nice bar next to the rink, and it looks really warm and comfy in there during the cold winter days. All-in-all, I think this place is worth a visit if it's not too busy. It's a good place to chill and warm up while you're in the area :) read more

So the view is amazing, small ice skating rink, and the restaurant Tank on the side of the rink is always busy, it's more of a find your own seating, and the bar got pretty crazy as well. Not sure I'd wanna eat at that restaurant after skating. The locker room as well as room for tickets and all was in the same area which was always packed. The views are amazing though. This review is for the new Heineken River Lounge pop up. This place is really nice. Perfect views of the bridge, water, and sunset. The music and DJ were seriously on point. One side of the lounge is more quiet and low key with picnic style tables and a small bar. There are some swinging benches and corn hole on this side as well. On the other side of the pier, there's standing tables and a dancing area as well as a larger bar with liquor. They have a wider selection of beer here as well. Heineken's will cost you $8 here, whether can or draft. Would suggest the can version cause the bartenders tend to leave a lot of foam on top of the beer, and you'll definitely get more bang for your buck by going the can route. Other beers are around $8 - 10. Would come through if you have pregamed somewhere else before or if is more of a one drink going to nurse this beer all night kind of night. read more
