First time at this establishment and probably the last ... We had 7:00 pm reservations on a Friday night. We were seated promptly at a table with great views of the Manatee River. The restaurant was a little busy, though there were several unoccupied tables in our area. The waitress asked if we'd like to start with cocktails, but we decided to order drinks and put our order in together. Huge mistake folks. Our appetizer arrived before our drinks. Drinks came 15 minutes after appetizers. 10 minutes after that bread was brought to the table. Then we waited. And waited and waited for our main course. After about an hour from when our order was taken, we asked our waitress if our entrees would be served soon? She sent "the manager" over who apologized for the delay. We were then told our entrees we're going in now and that she spoke to the chef. We were offered a comp soup or salad, but we passed. Minutes later our entrees arrived. By this time both my wife and had pretty much lost our appetites. We took a few bites (pretty good btw) but asked to have our entrees wrapped. While our entrees were being wrapped, a different server came over with new fresh out of the kitchen entrees. We advised they weren't ours. If this place could get there act together it would be a great place for dinner. The ambiance and views are spectacular. But the service, or lack there of, really spoiled the evening. 4.0 stars for the ambiance. 3.5 stars for the food. 1 star for the service. read more

Pier 22 is a large well-operated restaurant, with a large menu focused on seafood, but with something to offer for all tastes. The view of the wide Manatee River is delightful during daylight hours. The Pier 22 Salad was great and the Grouper Oscar with crab meat over corn risotto and topped with asparagus speers was exceptional. Prices, including for wine, are very fair for a high-end restaurant. Service was prompt and professional. I'll definitely return when visiting again! read more

I really enjoy the view at this restaurant, the food has been hit or miss over the years, however, I love their Eggs Benedict. We went on Easter and they had a holiday menu. Lobster benedict was the only option so I passed on that and ordered baked onion soup, salad, prime rib and chicken chevre. I was back to the hit or miss and decided to leave my first review. The soup was just okay flavor wise and the salad wasn't very cold. There wasn't much more than lettuce for the price. The prime rib was good, not great. I wish the aujus served with it was warm and not cold, the horseradish sauce was yummy with it. My chicken was not good at all. It was chewy and not very warm. I asked for more sauce because it was so dry and that did not help. I ate 2 or 3 bites of the chicken and gave it to my dinner partner to take home. I left hungry and feeling a little cheated for the price point. I really do wish the food was better here, the location is great and the deck is pet friendly. There are better restaurants on main Street. On a possitive note, the peanut butter pie was great. read more

Randomly Detoured to Pier 22 on Our Way to Detweiler's and were Incredibly Surprised on Beautiful Atmosphere Pier 22 has. The Outdoor Bar is Breezy with both Bar, Indoor and Patio Seating. They Offer Brunch on Sundays, HH, Lunch and Dinner. We tried their HH Baked Jerk Wings and Clam Chowder- Both were Delicious. A group of about 15 of us had lunch at Pier 22. They were able to place us in a section of the restaurant that was private. The staff was very accommodating and efficient! The food was delicious and served quickly. I had the grouper sandwich with a side salad. Cooked perfectly and a large piece. I loved the side salad with greens, tomatoes, pumpkin seeds, and blue cheese crumbles. Everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Not to mention the view of beautiful huge boats at the pier. Highly recommend, and I will be back! read more

The atmosphere and the food were fantastic. The house made bread was yummy. We order the ahi nachos, the mahi fresh catch, grouper piccata , pesto pasta and the chicken pasta dish. Chicken pasta dish was ok, nothing special. The mahi was a smaller, thin filet and honestly fell short. Our bar drinks were great! Mojito, espresso martini, Moscow mule and martini. Our server was unfortunately not great. We were sat with reservations right away at 7:45. We didn't even get to place our appetizer until 8:23pm. So at that point we were starving. No bread was brought until after we ordered appetizers/entrees all at 8:24. Pretty sad. I had a very poor experience at Pier 22. We waited over an hour to order and felt very unattended. Others around us were in and out, so there were no issues with pace. Our server was no where to be seen, and our edamame was served cold. When we asked to have the plate reheated, the server questioned us and seemed frustrated. We then ordered 4 plates of sushi that took another hour to arrive. It then took another 30 minutes for the soy sauce to be delivered, and it was delivered practically empty! We then were able to get ahold of another server and got our sauce refilled. It was a three hour dinner I'll never get back. read more

My husband and I went to happy hour at Pier 22 on Sunday after the Pirates game. The location is beautiful, right on the water, and since it wasn't too busy, we were seated immediately without a reservation. I ordered the "award-winning" sangria advertised on their menu--unfortunately, it was just okay and didn't hold a candle to Columbia's sangria. My husband had a mojito, which he enjoyed. We ordered a few appetizers, and while they were fine, they weren't anything special. Despite this, I would have considered returning--until our experience with the service took a turn for the worse. Our waitress was friendly, but overly so with other guests, to the point where she became distracted. After requesting our check, we waited over five minutes while she carried on an extended conversation with the table next to us about happy hours around town. When she finally brought our bill, it was incorrect. She fixed it, but when my husband handed her his credit card, she returned with the right bill--but the wrong card. At this point, I had to walk around the restaurant, asking other patrons if they had our credit card. Eventually, we found another table had ours, and we had theirs. The lack of management intervention was inexcusable. No one approached us, acknowledged the situation, or reassured us. When the waitress finally returned, she said the manager would reverse the incorrect charge, which they did--but they couldn't provide a receipt for the reversal. Apparently, the manager didn't know how to do it. So, at this moment, we've paid for our meal and someone else's, and I can only hope the refund actually goes through. The combination of average food, poor service, and nonexistent leadership makes it unlikely we'll return. read more

First time... Outside, the location is great, right on the water. Sign on the door says "Masks Recommended " Inside, the setup was comfortable- staff masked, tables 6ft apart. The only concerning observation was the sushi chef had his mask around his chin. Happy hour runs 5-7 with big markdowns on some small plates. There was a wedding on the covered patio, so no waterside seating. It was raining, so valet not in service due to high cancellation rate. Service was good throughout - Lana did a solid job. Good wine list, with several value gems, including the CDP we ordered. Corkage is a modest $15 if your want to go BYO. Our appetizer was unusual and .yummy. My Thai steak was tasty but could have used some fresh ginger to compliment the heat. My wife ran with lobsta tails, which were ok. Portion sizes were generous. Food was slightly above average. We were there for Valentine's Day with four other couples. We sat in the bar area around the fire pit. I sat facing west while the sun was setting. It was blinding. The location of the restaurant isn't a beautiful spot right on the marina. However, it was very loud. Could hardly talk. The dinner choices in my opinion, were terrible. Out of the whole menu, I basically had two dinners that I would like. I chose the pork dish. It was absolutely terrible. I couldn't even eat it. I was hoping it was something like a pork chop, but it wasn't. My wife had the chicken dish, and she didn't care for that either. I also had the baked onion soup. The taste of the soup is good, but it was served lukewarm. This is not a cheap restaurant. So to spend $150 to me it would be a waste of time to eat there. Had the worst dinning experience today here. Hope this restaurant will be out of business soon so a new restaurant will move in. Otherwise it's such of waste of location. First, the host even didn't greet us until we came to talk to her. The waiter didn't offer bread and butter and told us it was their policy that we had to ask for it. It was the first time I ever heard about such policy. Food was awful. Crab cake egg Benedict was not warm, little and tasteless hollandaise sauce on top. Fish and chips came with three little strip of fried cod and cold wilted broken pieces small fries. I wonder if the fries were from someone else's leftover. This is a great spot to take visitors. It's a big restaurant with many different seating options: patio indoor and outdoor, dining, bar area, etc. There are several tables with excellent water view. Service has always been pretty great including their complimentary valet parking. The menu has several choices. I always go for the Happy Hour from 3-7. There are a handful of options for people to chose from. I've never been disappointed by their food. My favorites are the braised ribs, poutine fries, balsamic chips, and Margherita flatbread. If you take anything from this post, it's that this place has an excellent happy hour which is hard to come by now. read more

Ahi tuna nachos- large pieces of tuna! Could use more sesame. Would pass next time. Clam chowder- GET THIS. Little salty, but still good. Chicken wraps- good sauce pairings but skimpy. Calamari- good! Not as crispy as I'm used to. Wedge salad with Parmesan dressing- so good! Mediterranean- basic but we liked the dressing Blackened grouper + fries + broccoli- the fish is great with the lime and lemon squeeze Grouper piccata with potatoes and wok vegetables- wok veggies are not it but we liked the fish and potatoes! Seafood jambalaya- Would def get again, bought would love pepper or Cajun seasoning on it. Did not like the scallops but it didn't ruin the dish. Catch of the day with Beurre blanc sauce- VERY good Naked grouper with asparagus and mushrooms - was good enough Alaskan halibut Alfredo- good! Would get again. Terrible Thanksgiving Takeout We ordered their Thanksgiving takeout dinner for 4-6 people. It was awful. The turkey was dry. They gave us small containers of cranberry sauce and gravy. The gravy was thick and tasteless as was the stuffing. The broccoli was coated with Cheez It crumbs. The pumpkin pie was flat. I went here for a business meeting and buffet lunch. The food was okay. The service was lacking. The room was boring. The views out the windows were lovely and peaceful. The valet parking affordable and efficient. I will be going back for future events. I don't know if they do more than meetings and buffets, but if they do I would consider giving them a chance to serve a real meal. read more

This restaurant has 3 things going for it. Fabulous location over looking the Manatee River in Bradenton, great service by Chris, and good food. I started with the 1976 salad which was somewhat like a wedge. The fresh catch was trout which always gets my attention. I wish it hadn't been breaded, but not bad. It came with 2 sides and I chose the green beans and risotto. My wife had the Walleye which was a surprise. We thought we were in Wisconsin! Very good. Well, this is our 2nd time back. And probably our last. Our first time was memorable and this is why we came back. We called 7 hours in advance to get a table reservation. We walked in on time at 7pm on the money. The hostess said our table wasn't ready yet and asked us 4 to wait a second. Immediately 2 women came up and were seated immediately. Upon being seated out on the patio where we wanted to sit. Our waitress Brittany was prompt. And brought us all waters. Then took our drink orders. Then my wife drank her water and had something in her mouth from the glass. We all looked at our glasses of water and there were chunks of stuff in them. The Pier 22 has a beautiful location on the Manatee River. We chose the riverside patio to dine. Reservations needed to be made days in advance as this must be a popular spot. I called on a Saturday for Sunday at 5:00 PM. They were booked. So made it for Monday at 4:30 because from 5-7 was booked. When we arrived however they were seating walk ins. (?). We we seated and promptly served by a very nice waitress. My silverware had food on it and it was replaced. The ambiance is wonderful. We had Grouper piccata and cod Alfredo. The broccoli was over cooked as was the fish. The pasta had no seasoning and all was bland. The cheese cake and carrot cake was awesome. The setting awesome food 3. read more

Then, I go inside and ask one of the people in black come out to clear he proceeds to an snort table inside. Later, that same guy comes out and walks back in. Terrible, terrible service So my husband cleared our table and I asked our server why he was clearing it and he said because the men in black (that's not what he said but meant) only clean the tables. Who on earth would make a server clear the table and not the men in black? I am blown away. Terrible, terrible. Bad practices. When I made reservations we were told they were fully packed and most of the restaurant was empty. Why the lies?
