It's so great to have another place out this way from the people who brought On 41 just around the way. The food was amazing and the service was even better. We are Oyster people and they do no disappoint here - the raw bar has 4 different kinds of varying price range and they were nice and cold and delicious. I'll always be amazed at how different oysters from different places taste. The clams and shrimp were amazing as well. Service good, food almost fair. Never again. Awful experience. This was our first time here. We chose this as our anniversary dinner because of its casual vibe and upscale menu choices. Made the reservation online and that was super easy. Arrived and was seated right away at our table. The server brought water and took a drink order. My two kids (ages 7 and 9) got Shirley Temples. They were out of King Crab and didn't have sashimi as their website suggested. We ordered the seafood platter and calamari to start, both decent. My spouse and I ordered scallops with truffle risotto. Scallops were cooked good but could have used another minute in the pan, and there wasn't a whisp of truffle flavor anywhere near the plate. The risotto was also bland as could be. Needed truffle and salt. Daughter ordered an Asian noodle special which was ok but needed salt. Son ordered a double patty burger. It arrived double patty on a small plate, no fries, no chips, no pickle, nothing, just a burger on a small plate. Sadly, this turned out to be the most disgusting burger I have ever eaten. Son said he didn't like it after a couple bites and I thought he was crazy bc it looked good, so I had a bite. OMG, I nearly lost my cookies. The texture was awful, full of gristle and on inspections the meat looked awful, I can't even begin to explain. I told the server it was the worse burger, the poorest quality of meat and I was not paying for it. They took it off the bill and the manager came over to apologize and ask if there was anything else from the kids menu my son might like. Kids menu? No one even offered a kids menu when we sat down, so our kids ordered from the regular menu. Manager proceeded to tell me they don't give it out unless requested. Which I think is complete manipulation. I have kids, clearly you see them, you should offer a kids menu to them. I should not have to ask. She then blamed it on poor staffing. But if you say you don't offer it unless asked that's clearly your policy, hoping people will order off the regular menu for their children. If the burger and food were good I wouldn't care. But it was gross. Overall I couldn't wait to get out of there. Went to the grocery store to buy ice cream for dessert. Don't go here. It's gross. Lots of good reviews but honestly it's not worth it. Our bill was $185, we left $40 tip bc the service was sufficient. I expected better for $185. read more

Don't judge a book by its cover... First off this place is a true pearl inside, and has plenty to tickle those taste buds... The burger is an explosion of savory flavor and texture experience also. It's umami! We had the taco of the day and again was totally delightful. French fries with smoked oyster aoli was baller, comes in a cool Chinese food container. Great selection of oysters sourced appropriately from around the country which is always nice. The pokè was amazing a true delight. Bottom line the food is spot on and atmosphere is great.. I wanted to like this place so badly, after I saw the reviews we went! I suppose people get excited when food is "different" or "artsy" , I get it... sort of.. in fact walking in, it smelled great! Waitress did not go over specials, when later asked she mentioned specials that weren't even on the board(we finally saw it on our own) then we asked the prices.. she had literally no clue- about any of the prices, then later, after waiting over 10 minutes just for her to find out how much an entrée was she had mentioned she later came back and told us that they were then all out of the supposed special entrée that was not on the board. It was pretty obvious she got her nights mixed up instead of just copping to it she made up some elaborate story. For the food, the ceviche came, looked good but was tiny.. truly tiny!! We asked a different waitress if it was normally so small, she said "no" & she promptly took it back. They brought our plate with some more on it-- it was absolutely delightful!! And.. the fried, puffy (wontons?-waitress did not know what they actually were) were possibly the best thing I put in my mouth the entire evening. Every single thing that we ordered for the rest of the night was honestly horrible; whether it was the fries or two of the other entrées everything tasted like they were loaded up with sesame oil and items like the crab dip was just a bunch of mush with no acidity to break up any of it ! The dip needed to have some type of acidity and crunch on top of it but instead it was a big plate of mushy crab dip. The french fries were saturated in sesame oil either was either old oil or just way too much of it but again they took the whole artsy sesame oil theme way too far. We come from Atlanta where Asian and Asian Fusion is everywhere, and mostly spectacular...The concept of the restaurant and the menu ideas are great but the execution was lackluster at best! read more

Pier 41 had great reviews on Yelp for their happy hour so we checked it out. We wouldn't go back or recommend it. The oysters were terrible. We ordered a dozen and only ate 7. After having 3 bad oysters (very fishy) we stopped eating them. Between the four of us: we've had a lot of oysters in our lives and know when oysters aren't fresh. We told the waitress that some were bad and she didn't care. We were charged for all 12. She could've taken off the 5 we didn't eat after letting her know that they were bad. The mussels weren't that great either. The flounder tacos were good. She kept asking if we wanted more champagne and then would pour it into a glass that still had 1/3 left. I have never in my life experienced such bad customer service. This is my first bad yelp review, usually I use this only for great reviews! We called to ask about their advertised "all you can eat crab legs on Tuesdays" and the owner was extremely rude and unprofessional laughing and saying "no we don't do that and I don't care what the website says- we don't honor any advertisements." After calmly advising him to take down the ad and telling him we had driven 35 minutes so it's disappointing to hear that they don't honor it. He laughed again and asked "what do you do for a living?" We said that is irrelevant to the conversation... he added "you're wasting my time, please don't come to my restaurant." No problem buddy! Really sucks because I bet their kitchen staff and waitresses are awesome and deserve a chance for repeat customers. read more

My first review didn't take, so I'll try again. My Fiancee and I had a great time at Pier 41, everything was fantastic. The atmosphere, music, service was great. I'm not into oysters as much as my Fiancee so I had the teriyaki chicken noodle bowl. They have something for everyone. It was fantastic. Served more than I expected so I couldn't eat desert this time around, but I'll save room for next time. Brannon as done what he does best and that is to open another great place to enjoy a night out. On 41, and The Granary are still favorites. I unfortunately do not eat seafood at all but my boyfriend and his father were on the hunt for soft shell crab and this place had it on the menu! I love having this place around-close to home and easy to pop into- especially for the Champagne & Oyster $1 each happy hour (4-6). Nice bar with comfy seating and plenty of room if there are no tables available (also the bar is a good height to eat at which makes me happy because I really dislike sitting at a bar and feeling like I am in 3rd grade). Not the place to go if you are looking for a quiet corner. Basically a small plate place, easy to just order constantly and judge how hungry you are as you go. Service is pretty quick and food comes out equally fast. Nice selection of beer and wine at decent prices. Aside from the raw bar selections which are all great, the peel and eat shrimp and lobster mac and cheese are favorites. The mac and cheese is huge and can be a meal in itself. This place is the most amazing fusion restaurant I have ever been to and is hands down the best place to eat in Mount Pleasant. The owner, Renee, is absolutely charming and just creates an unbelievably fun environment. There is also a girl who is called smelly something and she is a delight. Oh sweet baby Jesus the Burger they serve at Pier 41 is unmatched in all of Charleston. I was hesitant at first because I was unfamiliar with Japanese mustard and Korean mustard but I got it and it was amazing. If you come here make sure you get the burger. Other food: They have random specials that are always a fun surprise. Uh...egg rolls with corned beef and kimchi??? They are AMAZING! Look at the board and just order something from it. Tried Pier 41 for the first time tonight, Food was very good and prices were reasonably. Would have given 5 stars except for one thing. After trying several drinks, couple appetizers and dinner, my wife tried one of the deserts. I decided that while she was having desert I would try the happy hour oyster special. I just want to give a shout to the bartender we experienced on Monday. Her name is Katie and she is so fun and delightful. She suggested her favorites on the menu and she was right on point of what we were looking for. The cocktails were amazing, and it was overall a great time. I wanted to like Pier 41 but unfortunately the food was disappointing. Confused as to why there were so many locals there, even if it was happy hour. The fried fish tilapia taco had a pale white breading (not crispy) and overly sweet pineapple salsa with no flavor. The special tuna roll was even more disappointing. It was supposed to have seared tuna on top but it was instead topped with gray, leathery, sad looking tuna. Nothing else inside the roll tasted fresh. Needless to say we didn't finish it.
