We love Pier 500! We moved to North Hudson in December 2023 and we're still checking out all of the restaurants in the area. Pier 500 so far is our very favorite. My go to each time is the rotisserie chicken sandwich. It's perfect and the best rotisserie chicken I've ever had anywhere. The special thing about the sandwich is they give you a dish of gravy to dunk it in... oh my gravy, goodness! They make their rotisserie chicken in house. I wish I could take home a whole chicken to enjoy all week. I think the fries are coated which makes them fabulous! Visited on a Sunday for lunch/brunch with the family on our way to Willow River State Park. We made a reservation and were seated promptly inside (the patio seating is first come, first served only). Server was attentive. Inside space is large, feels comfortable even with all tables occupied. Kids each had a Belgium waffle which were good, though the amount of syrup provided was insufficient, and the metal containers they put the syrup in got real hot under the heat lamp and so they were too hot to handle without using our napkins as potholders. I had the huevos rancheros which were okay - sort of bland. Prices were reasonable. It was an okay experience, I would be happy to go back but won't rush to do so. read more

I'm surprised this place is in the yellow stars, I went here for a lunch date with friends and we had a fantastic time. The service was super great and friendly, we were a group of 5, and after our drink order we asked if we could switch to a different table so we could have a group of 3 at a 4 person, and 2 people at a 2 person table closer to it. They were very accommodating! Also the food, best cheese curds I've ever had. They weren't greasy at all, just delicious fried cheese. I also had the walleye tacos and they were perfect. My friends had the nachos, lobster roll, and walleye sandwich, and all raved about their food. I'd honestly drive back from Minneapolis just to get their food again. This establishment is definitely busy and had a line of patrons coming and going the entire time we were there. Our food served was both welcoming and friendly. She did a fantastic job! Pier 500 is one of our go-to favorites. As a bonus, it is one of the only downtown Hudson restaurants that has its own parking lot. Great location to take a walk after your meal down to the bridge. Ok back to the review! We love Pier 500 for all meals- breakfast, lunch and dinner. Comfortable upscale vibe with reasonable prices. The brunch buffet is 10/10 amazing! With their breakfast they include bottomless mimosas for under $2! Today we opted to order breakfast from the menu instead of doing the buffet to change things up. The French toast is not your typical French toast. It's crispy and sweet but not too sweet. Pier 500 uses very high quality ingredients and they have delicious bacon and sausage links. My breakfast date also enjoyed her eggs Benedict. These came with the herbed hashbrowns which are truly spectacular. Flavor bombs! Thanks Pier 500 for another great meal. read more

I finally made it to Pier 500 and we had a wonderful experience. Two of us tried out Pier 500 for lunch. They were the next on our list as we continue to eat at every restaurant in Hudson! I'm calling them out as 5 stars. The food was excellent. Everything - from the specialty cocktail, to the appetizers, the soup, the burger, the pasta, and the desserts - all of it was excellent. I particularly loved the house tomato basil soup, the brie cheese curds, and the Mixed Berries Crisp dessert - yum! The service was also great. They seated us quickly and our server was totally on top of everything. The kitchen was also amenable to a couple of special requests. Nice! Finally, Pier 500 has a killer view! Stopped here on a business trip with a customer. The super large outside patio is just awesome. Great view of the lake. Our experience was awesome. The service was on par, the place was very busy and all the servers were hustling. I enjoyed everything about my meal. They have two types of cheese curds, both are perfect - except by Wisconsin standards, they are served in a small container. We ordered both and with our party of six, there was maybe one or two for each of us. Kind of a bummer at $9ish. Moving on, French Onion soup was excellent. The crouton is crispy and kind of snapped when I chewed. Awesome!!!! I went with the prime rib. The small cut is impressively large, see my picture. We stopped by for brunch on a beautiful Sunday morning in June. I was pleasantly surprised to find there was no wait for a table outside on the patio. The view of the St. Croix river is the best in Hudson. For food, I ordered the Ham and Cheddar omelette. It was served with herbed and cheesey hashbrowns that were delicious and rich. The omelette itself was fluffy and well cooked. It usually comes with toast, but I don't eat gluten so the kitchen swapped for extra hashbrowns. My husband ordered the Prime Rib Hash. It was pretty good, but the poached eggs were verrrry runny. To the point that the dish had liquid at the bottom of the bowl. My husband kind of just picked around it and ate it anyway. The service was great and the view is hard to beat. We learned that they have .99 cent mimosas in the bar area outside, so we will be back for that soon. read more

I have now been here twice - once in the summer and another in the fall. The first time I came here with my boyfriend during the summer, and sitting outside next to the river was absolutely gorgeous. It was busy, but didn't feel too crowded. I ordered one of the bowls and would highly recommend. The second time in the fall, I ordered the chicken and waffles. It was a great meal, but what I got for $15 seemed a bit small in terms of portion. It would've been nice to have a side - like fries or fresh fruit. First of all, BEST service in a very long time. They have a really wonderful wait staff. Beautiful deck to sit on in the summer which we very much enjoyed. I had the gouda nachos (appetizer) which were phenomenal next time I'd appreciate more salsa + toppings off the bat, but they were sure to bring them when I asked. The eggs were not a fan favorite... texture not on point. If you like crispy hashbrowns, don't get theirs. They're very very potatoey, almost like a mashed potato. Our son took us to this restaurant when we were in Minneapolis visiting him. He had discovered it shortly after he moved to the area and has eaten there several times. Many of their menu choices sounded delicious, but I chose the rotisserie chicken dinner. My husband ordered the pork chop dinner. The other two ordered the rotisserie chicken sandwich and the mac and cheese with chicken added. While we waited for our meals, we enjoyed the little nuggets of deep fried cheese curds with marinara sauce for dipping. We were in Wisconsin, so cheese curds seemed a good choice. They were delicious. When our entrees arrived, we dove right in, forgetting to snap a picture of each dish! My chicken was tender and moist. It was very flavorful and had a light gravy drizzled over it. It came with green beans, perfectly cooked and seasoned, and I substituted broccoli for the garlic mashed potatoes. Our experience at Pier 500 was pretty positive, the staff was relatively friendly and the waiter was very sweet. The igloo experience was beautiful and there was a wonderful fireplace to heat up the igloo. We did think the lavender lemonade was a bit disappointing as it was very sugary and didn't taste the best. However, the chicken was soft and there were tons of nachos. We sat at the bar and waited patiently with a bartender right in front of us but not looking at us and then several minutes later one of the 2 bartenders finally spoke to us? Tried to experience a nice night out during COVID. Have been to Pier 500 a few times and have been happy with the food/service, but that ended tonight. My girlfriend ordered the "special" salad which was the lime kissed shrimp salad. Sounded good on the menu, looked embarrassing when delivered. The shrimp aspect of the salad consisted of a skewer of 3 of the smallest shrimp I've ever seen. This salad was priced at $16. Very disappointed and honestly embarrassed for Pier 500 serving something like that. My walleye sandwich was decent and my salt/vinegar fries were good. No reservations on a Saturday at lunchtime. Plenty of open tables. We went to bar and got 2 bloody Mary's- worst I've ever had! No garnish, no salt, boring mix. For $25 there should've had some WOW involved! Don't recommend the bloody Mary's. Finally we were seated after 25 minutes at one of the booths that was already open when we arrived. Service was good, our French onion soup was ok. Not much flavor. We shared the nachos and they were good. Amazing food, service and view. We had a group of 4 and went at 5pm. The place got more crowded as the night went on. We sat outside in August and we were comfortable. We didn't do any appetizers. We had some local beer and some wine. Great choices. We had a shrimp pasta special that was delightful. Big portion, but not heavy. We had the encrusted walleye and it was light and refreshing. Every time I mention I live in Hudson people ask if I have been to Pier 500 like it is so worth doing. It certainly looks busy with people hanging around waiting for their table and opportunity to dine here so I did not want to be missing out and made it a goal to see what the fuss was all about. I just don't get it really! I went here Sunday afternoon with the ladies because we all wanted to sit outside somewhere and enjoy a patio by the water. The water is not close enough for me. They have cheesy plastic chairs that are in danger of cracking if you weigh more than 100 pounds. The Food is overpriced for the quality that they are striving for. I ordered one of their seasonal drink offerings cucumber basil martini---it was like syrup and i did not even drink half of it but do you think they noticed and said oh can I offer you something else. NOT! They serve you in plastic disposable cups and I hate that when it is under the disguise of a fine dining establishment--- We had rotisserie chicken and some sides--the mac-n-cheese--go up the street to agave it is better, a dollar less, and triple the portion. The chicken was okay but not memorable. People smoke all around the patio and I was quite surprised at the colorful crowd that congregated here on a Sunday afternoon-I have been all around the other dive-type bars in Hudson and this was a different mix of people that I have seen out and about in Hudson. Good place to grab a beer and people watch perhaps on a nice breezy evening or afternoon--but save your money and get your meal elsewhere. read more

I had the day off last friday so I decided to give this restaurant another try after years of a continuous decline in the quality of their food. This place was always filled with local regulars but that has all changed as well. The patio is still great for a drink and I do recommend their weekend brunch with nice seating outside. For lunch I had the fish and chips, the fish was way over salted and a very small portion. Scratch tarter sauce was good but not enough to kill the salt. Service was not very good at the bar considering there were only a few people belly up. My visits will be limited and the patio is all this place has going. read more
