This is our go to place for special occasion celebration- there is no other place in CLE like it- the patio, view, menu, quality, live piano music, interior design, service! Love the crab cakes/seafood, braised short rib, filet mignon! Apart from that, it's an awesome place for Happy Hour at the bar area! So there is both- the formal restaurant AND the amazing bar area/happy hour (get there early- it gets packed). As a consumer- it's up to you to look up prices BEFORE you go somewhere NOT complain about it afterwards . BTW folks- nowadays you pay $20 for horrible fast food- maybe remember that. read more

I stopped by Pier W for happy hour last week. They have one of the best views in Cleveland. Overall I thought my experience was great. I enjoyed the Poblano Hibiscus Margarita, so much I had 2. It was the perfect amount of spice and sweetness. As an appetizer I ordered lobster bisque and calamari. The bisque was so good. I should've ordered a bowl. The calamari was lightly breaded and served with 2 dipping sauces. As a meal I ordered the short rib pierogis and fries. Neither impressed me. I found the pierogis to be a bit salty. I was hesitant to order dessert because I had so much food, half of which I took home. However, I'm happy decided to order the warm cake with fresh berry topping. It really saved the day. The bartender/waitress was very attentive and actually recommended dessert. I plan to go back between I've heard the brunch is nice. read more

Overall, the food, service and ambiance were all great. Terry was attentive, knowledgeable and had great suggestions. The calamari was well fried and crispy. We didn't enjoy the crab cakes as much as we thought we would - they were really soft and dare I say... mushy? The short ribs were tender and had a wonderful glaze and a good amount of it. The halibut special was fresh and summery and came with vegetable, a corn coulie and butternut sauce. The cedar plank salmon was prepared well and tender in the middle. The filet was cooked perfectly however the glaze was minimal and the potato was a tad overcooked and dry - good flavor though. Ended up trying the cookie cookie cookie cocktail--sweet but perhaps a little too strong for my taste. 4/5 Always love complimentary bread rolls, so that's a plus. The two of us did the restaurant week menu ($45 each excluding tax) which included an appetizer, main course, and dessert. We ended up sharing it all the maximize the taste-testing, Appetizers: the beetroot mousse was perhaps my favorite--never had anything like it. It's a savory dish from the goat cheese but the beet mousse itself had sweet notes from the beets. 4.5/5. It actually went well with the bread rolls. The lobster bisque was decent but a little too salty for me. 3/5 Main course: I ended up with the rockfish. It was cooked perfectly, and I liked the gnocchi even more. 4.5/5 Tried the pork shoulder--it was good but didn't stand out to me. 3/5 Desserts: the bread pudding was highly recommended by the staff. 4.5/5 Definitely agree that this was my favorite compared to the devil's food cake, which may have had an off day, but unfortunately was too dry. 2/5 The staff were attentive. Once again "Pier W" did not disappoint. The level of service is excellent. From the attentive people at the host desk, to the fun, efficient server at our table, to the floor manager that was so kind with his greeting. Everyone is extraordinary. The ambiance is always marvelous. White tablecloth dining in a spacious room with soft lighting that is not too dark and filled with the wonderful live piano background music. And, most importantly, the food is always excellent. Many thank-yous to the wonderful kitchen staff. I had a great Amaretto Sour from the bar. Followed by a shrimp cocktail for a starter. Pier W really hit the mark with attentive staff (valet, hostess, server, bussers, etc.). We were lucky enough to have Teri as our server and her kindness as well as knowledge of the menu were phenomenal. For an appetizer, we had the beef short rib pierogies and they were okay, while the clam chowder was silky and delectable. The presentation of the bouillabaisse was impressive, the flavors were on point and the only issue was that a couple of the mussels were gritty. We liked the flavors of the pacific rockfish marsala, but the trumpet mushrooms were tough/stringy to cut through and we prefer our gnocchi to be pan fried a bit for texture, which is definitely needed in an entree comprised of soft fish and shiitake & cremini mushrooms. read more

Ok, I just came back from lunch at Pier W. If you notice, I rarely give 5 Star reviews. 5 Stars means it can't get any better....that's it, you've topped out. That's why I rarely give them. Ambiance: The ambiance is spectacular of course. You have a beautiful view of Lake Erie and the downtown skyline. Can't get any better, really! The service was good, not exceptional, but close to it. We were at the peak of their lunch crowd and typically they have a very old clientele for lunch. Now for the good part....the food. Granted this is lunch, so I can't "pack it in" like I do for dinner.... I had the lobster bisque for an appetizer. No lie, no exaggeration, this was the absolute finest lobster bisque I've ever had in my life. Seriously! A "must get" if you're coming. That said, their appetizer menu is fantastic. Actually, their entire menu is exceptional. To continue the lobster theme, I had the lobster roll for lunch. Granted, it was smaller, but they were smart. They would rather over fill a smaller bun than half-fill a larger bun, which was a brioche bun that was perfect. The lobster was spectacular and very tasty. I had the cole slaw over the french fries. It was a lightly dressed coleslaw that was very crunch and wasn't too sweet as it can tend to be. It was perfectly matched with the lobster roll. No cocktails this time, but I must say, they make a damn good cup of coffee. SO many restaurants over look the importance of a good cup of coffee. This was really exceptional. It's a very specific pleasure to have an expensive meal at a nice restaurant and, at the end, feel every dollar was well-spent. Last night, I had that exact sensation after a lovely evening at Pier W. Our server, Chloe, was fantastic the whole night through. We have very specific food allergies, and Chloe and the kitchen were extremely considerate in working with us to accommodate them. It was a big anniversary dinner for us, and the restaurant included a number of small touches to make the night special, such as a happy anniversary note on our menus. For dinner, the restaurant happened to be doing a "restaurant week" prix fare meal, which we both decided to do. I had fried green tomatoes, rockfish, and pecan bread pudding with the recommended wine pairings. My partner had lobster bisque, fried chickpeas, and crème brûlée. We both felt our food was exquisite. I felt that my rockfish, served on top of house-made gnocchi, was a special standout. The gnocchi simply melt in your mouth, and the fish was crisped perfectly to balance the bite out. Of course, Pier W is famous for its ambiance--we had a wonderful view of the lake and the live piano was the perfect flourish for an already great night. We will absolutely be coming back! read more

We just had the most AMAZING meal here tonight for our anniversary. If there were 10 stars- that is what I'd give them!! The restaurant was beautiful, parking easy and the VIEW. They gave us a table right next to the view of Lake Erie. Our server Q was fantastic, and our meals were the BEST! This place is highly recommended for its view and brunch. We decided to check out the brunch yesterday. There is ample parking upfront so that's great. We were seated immediately (pro tip don't make a 2pm reservation if you are coming in for the brunch--get an earlier one). We were seated at the end table near the entrance but still have a semi decent view of the lake. The food items are predominately seafood. I really enjoyed the salmon in dill sauce. My boyfriend and I celebrated out anniversary dinner and came during Restaurant week! I ordered the mussel for the appetizer, crab stuffed shrimp as my main and the peanut butter torte for my dessert! The amount of mussels you get was pretty good, and the bread was nice to have to soak up the sauce! I wish the sauce was a bit more flavorful, more garlicky, but overall it was good. The crab stuffed shrimp was good. The shrimp was snappy, the crab was good and it was over mashed potatoes and some green beans. The peanut butter torte was my favorite! It was super rich, had a nice peanut butter and chocolate taste and a surprise with some coconut! The crust part seemed (to me) made of oatmeal but my boyfriend thought otherwise haha. We dined here July 3rd and were lucky to get in due to a cancellation. Celebrating our wedding anniversary and got the best view in the entire restaurant! The wine was amazing and came recommended from the GM/Sommelier off the reserve list as we were looking for something more up scale to celebrate. The black sticky rice and scallops with the grilled leeks were absolutely delicious. Cooked to perfection and minimally/simply seasoned but truly wonderful. My husband loved his steak and substituted the garlic mashed potatoes because those are his favorite. We loved the chocolate peanut butter cake which was truly decadent and perfect to end our meal. My wife and I came into town to look for a place to live. We have friends that are here that we had not seen in years so we wanted to go someplace special. The ambiance was incredible as you might expect. What a view of the lake! The service was pretty good. No pressure to flip the table and the server was friendly and accommodating. All of us were shocked at the prices and even more shocked at the presentation. While the tempura walleye was plentiful, the rest of our meals were small and did not satisfy. I had the special which was halibut and it was very tough. It is supposed to be flaky and light.... Shame on me for not sending it back. Sadly, I can't recommend this place. read more

We were seated promptly and had a very attentive and friendly server who explained both the drink and dinner menus exceptionally well! I ordered the braised short rib pierogis for an appetizer and they were divine! I also ordered halibut dinner special, and my partner ordered the lobster pasta. Both arrived quickly, were hot, and full of some amazing flavors I never imagined would pair so well together! Overall, we had a romantic evening & will certainly be back. Came here for the first time because I wanted to celebrate my anniversary by the lake. Only to be met with. 15 min wait for my table, and I got to the restaurant 10 mins early. When we got the table we had to sit in the middle at a four seat table. The couple ahead of us got to sit next to the window and the couple behind us got to sit at a 2 table seat and near the window. It felt awkward having to be the only two sitting at a huge table. They could have sat us in a booth if they didn't want to give us a window. I did ask for it but apparently you must celebrate your birthday to get anywhere near the window. Our table was disappointing someone left a water pitcher in the seat next to me. My husband had two server books one with cash tip sitting in his seat. The table cloth was dirty and the sever took the pitcher that was sitting in the seat and poured us our water. When I check the water I saw hair and crap floating in my cup. Our sever said she would bring us bread and she never did. The table next to us got bread and clean water. I order the 7oz filet mignon medium they brought it out and it was medium rare. I had to send my food back to have it recooked. Their steak also lacked seasoning and my husband order the rock fish and they piled on so much fresh herb he said it was like eating grass. They offered us red velvet brownie with cream cheese icing for our anniversary and we decline because the service was horrible. This was our 13th anniversary and it was ruin. I would not recommend this place at all and will never eat here again. read more

I've had brunch at Pier W many times. It's a great place for special occasions, holidays, and just an overall good quality brunch buffet. Atmosphere is elegant and nice. They do very well with presentation and ambiance. Service is typically good. We've had a few questionable service which we felt the waitress/waiter forgot about us. It's typically good though. Food is typically high quality for a buffet. Buffets are typically mixed and questionable quality. Pier W food options tend to be higher quality. You'll find a variety of meats and seafood, some traditional breakfast options, salad, cheese, fruits, vegetables, and desserts on the buffet. I think my only disappointment in not offering traditional egg options or pancakes/french toast on the buffet. You can order an omelette, French toast, or waffles from the waiter/waitress, but as previously mentioned, if they're busy with several tables, it can seem like they forget about you and it's difficult to get an order in. Quality of food our first several times there was top tier. I will say our more recent brunches has seen a decline in quality. Overall, good brunch spot to check out with a wide variety of options. Probably the best brunch buffet option in the Cleveland area. Unfortunately, service and food quality can be hit or miss. It's not always consistently top tier. We'll continue returning every so often. read more

I've dined at Pier W. many times, dinner, brunch & Happy Hour. This visit was the first time that my meal, missed the mark. Hubby and I had dinner before heading to a theater performance on a Saturday night. We had a reservation, and arrived on time, and we were warmly greeted and seated, right away. Our water glasses were filled and bread delivered, almost immediately. The rolls (ciabatta), were warm, and perfect with butter. Our server, Chloe, approached and took our wine order, while we perused appetizer and entree options. We decided on the mussels and local greens salad, as starters. The mussels were plentiful, perfectly cooked and accompanied by 2 thick slices of crusty bread, perfect for dipping in the thai style broth. The salad was fresh, and tasty. We then proceeded to order our entrees, hubby ordered the pork chop, subbing redskin potatoes for the sweet potato mash, accompanied by bacon braised collard greens. I ordered the tempura walleye, which was accompanied by green beans, shitake mushrooms, yams and bok choy. My husband's entree was perfectly cooked and plated nicely. He thoroughly enjoyed his meal. My meal, not so much. Everything, except the bok choy, was battered, and unbelievably greasy, almost inedibly greasy, there was a pool of grease in the bottom of the plate, I removed the batter from the fish, and used the spicy soy dipping sauce (which was very good), I ate a few of the green beans, but couldn't eat the yams, too much grease. I didn't complain, because our server was SO nice, and I also didn't want to be late for the theater. I boxed the rest, to-go. When we arrived home, I thought that I might be able to salvage the remains, in the air-fryer, but by the time we arrived home, everything was soggy and gelatinous. We did finish with the apple crostata dessert topped with ice cream. It was very good, nice finish. I will not let this one meal deter me from returning to Pier W., I just wouldn't order this entree again. read more

I dine at Pier W once in every couple of years and it's always a really good experience. The only downside I would say is the interior needs a renovation. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. Timing and food preparation is always top notch. Pier W has some of the best seafood in the city and you won't go away disappointed. Always love Pier W and have dined there frequently and for decades, mostly at lunch. When they reopened after COVID they did so with a limited menu and have never really expanded upon it since. The menu choices, although all very good, have become really boring. Honestly! I would really love to see them expand upon the menu with a greater number of meal choices... at minimum, a couple of daily or weekly specials. We've been dining here much less frequently because of the limited menu and would love to come back again at least as often as we did in the past. We miss it! But until they freshen up their menu and give us more meal choices, I don't see that happening. read more

This is probably the best thing to experience in Cleveland! We had drinks on the patio of this epic restaurant and patio and the tower is gorgeous inside and out! There is an amazing view of downtown Cleveland and all I can say is wow. People were enjoying cigars and relaxing on the patio and they had music and bartenders making drinks - it was like a resort kinda felt like I was back in Mexico at a beach resort. I felt a lot of that was lacking, like the pacing of our meal..the changing of silverware..and going the extra mile. We had to sit at the bar due to the busy evening..and once the restaurant mostly cleared out, there was a beautiful table facing the lake cleaned and available. I asked the bartender if we can have our last course served there if we paid and took our drinks there. She said no and made us feel awkward about it. Would have appreciated a gentler approach.
