The family picked Pierce"s BBQ because we say the sign on the way back to our hotel from WalMart. We were shopping on US60 and wanted BBQ so I remembered the place from the night before. The place is basic, clean and its always a good sign when locals come in to get take out. Ordering a pulled Chicken, pulled pork meal with beans, mac & cheese and 2 pices of corn bread and 2 kids chicken fingers meals came to $52 in cahang and was worth every penny. We have a smokehouse right down our block in NY and this blew it away (most people will say you cant do BBQ in NY but this place is packed all the time). Quality and super clean from the first step into this restaurant it doesn't have that old establishment smell, tables and floors are clean, no sticky residue on the table tops and chairs. You can tell they put extra effort and care. The bathrooms are clean which is essential so it's welcoming and comfortable. The food is good with a good price. I really love this place. It was great barbecue, afterlives g most of my young adult life in Texas I didn't my know that I would call it the 'best ever' but in Williamsburg, maybe even along the Va Coast I can see it being called that. It's is a simple style restaurant, you order at the counter and then wait for your number, no staff is going to come around and help with service. It's an old building but well maintained...it's clear their profits go back into the food and the staff but don't let the 1970's furniture run you off...actually if you're there during peak time you'll be lucky to not be sitting outside at a picnic table or taking it to go. Vinegar baby! I have lived all over this great country, and every time that I have BBQ, I always remember Pierce's. That bite of the vinegar in their pulled pork is one of the best culinary experiences in the world. It's an absolute kick. A simple white bun, with some of their coleslaw on it, and a heaping helping of their pulled pork, and I am in heaven. Having been recommended this place by 4 people I gave it a shot in Williamsburg. Honestly not sure what the fuss is. I spoke to the cashier and he said get the pork it's the most popular. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. The price point is good I give them that bad pork and fries had nothing special too it. Maybe the ribs are worth a shot? I do like the abundance of seating as when I came it was slammed! Fairly fast service as well. Would I come back? Great place with lots of character. Seriously almost perfect ambiance for a BBQ spot. The sweet tea is away from everything so you can get your sweetness on point. The sauces are on your table. Listed as Virginia's most iconic restaurant, in Thrillst magazine you immediately smell the smoke from their pit. The restaurant is fairly big and you order at the counter and than they call your number. We decided to try a little bit of everything. We ordered the pulled pork pulled chicken combo with two sides. The combo came with three pieces of ribs. The ribs were fall of the bone tender with nice smoke flavor and coloring. The chicken was ok, a little more moist than regular chicken breast, but not my favorite meat they offer. The pulled pork was fantastic, and I loved adding their BBQ hot sauce it compliments the pulled pork real nice. We also ordered the beef brisket plate with two sides. The brisket was super tender, melts in your mouth. The sides were great as well, I really enjoyed the cold slaw not to much vinegar, not to much mayo, just right. Their baked beans are really good, and they are served with some hot dogs for a nice touch. Their Mac n cheese was nice and creamy, they used elbow macaroni, their serving was a little small, I thought, but you got enough of it to satisfy your taste for Mac n cheese. Surprisingly, the only thing, I did not like was their BBQ sauce, I thought it was terrible, thank god for their hot BBQ sauce. This place has been here a VERY long time. It was my first time here and I wouldn't hesitate to stop in again. Don't get discourage by the long line, the food wait time was not bad at all! Pretty great BBQ! Lots of selection and side options. Large portions and they are pretty good at getting through large lines (they're busy during tourist season) so if you arrive and it looks like a zoo try getting in line and you shouldn't have to wait too long. I would say this place is pretty good! When we got there it was jam packed we couldn't even get a table for lunch! After we finally found one our food was ready. My sister got BBQ chicken and she liked it but it was spicy so she didn't eat that much. We took 7 kids and 4 adults. Everyone liked their food! Great service at counter, food was delicious. We went on a summer Wednesday night and the place was hopping. When you drive up you can smell the meat smoking, awesome! They have their own smoking building next door. That's a good start. Food prices very reasonable for any BBQ place, and compared to prices at GWL, very inexpensive. Good was good. I wanted a bit more liquid and spice on the pork BBQ sandwich and their hot sauce in table was just right. We didn't bother with kids meals for our girls (5 & 2 1/2)--one medium side of Mac and Cheese and some chili was plenty for them to share. There are a couple of different dining setups in there- some super old benches (I'm guessing they're original) and some of those old fast food booths like you'd see in a '70's burger chain.
