All pizza is Detroit style, thick crust with ricotta cheese. Did not know that going in. Issue is everything is served "to go" and you end up eating with plastic cutlery and paper plates. Doesn't work with thick cut pizza which could use a little more cooking/crispness. Beer was great, flavor on the pizza was there. Atmosphere and service pretty good. Closer to a 4 versus 3, but somewhere close to the middle. No discount given to the tremendous amount of paper/plastic waste this place must go through. read more

Had an overnight stop on a long road trip and stopped here based on positive yelp reviews and so glad we did!! We love places where the food is just as great as the people you meet. Sat at the bar and was greeted by Jess, who is clearly operating in his God-given gifts - serving people with excellence! Chatting with others around the bar area, many locals loyal to the restaurant, and others who travel for business and frequent every trip to Charleston. We ordered beers at the bar from the extensive beer menu. There was a large selection on tap and an even larger selection in bottles. I tried the home brewed root beer (non alcoholic) which was not overly sweet and had great flavors. The menu had a selection of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and pizza. We were there for the pies. There were some really interesting specialties. There was a choice of regular, gluten free, or cauliflower crust. I had a sautéed mushroom, caramelized onions and garlic pizza on a cauliflower crust. Amazingly good. One of the best cauliflower crusts I've had on a pie. The staff was very friendly and attentive. It was located in a quaint downtown area with other restaurants and shops, so we walked around a bit after our meal. We sat outside since it was very comfortable out. The pizza was delicious... but the true shining star of our experience was Grace our server. I've been in the service industry for many years and this young lady is gold. We are from out of town and arrived close to closing time on a Sunday. We stumbled around our ordering as we tried to put our special request for additions and subtractions to our pizza... and Grace could not have been a kinder more understanding and patient server, ultimately she "made an exception' and allowed our "out of the box" small pizza order go through. (despite the fact that normally it wouldn't be able to be done) THIS is a sign of a true customer service individual. We ordered a bunch of their gourmet pizzas for a carry out order, they were not fit for consumption by the time we got them to the house, disgusting, soggy sloppy pizzas. The food was great as always however I took my mother, grandmother (in a wheelchair) and other family members there to eat for a total party of 5 for mothers day. they told us it would be a 45 minute wait which we were fine with. We wait the time and get the text to go and we go to check in to find out OUR TABLE had been given away to a party of 3 with a wheelchair. The hostess tried to tell the manager a lie and excuse herself and the manger said it would be 45 minutes (she thought we were a new table), which is inexcusable which when she realized she said it would be a 5-10 minute wait, STILL INEXCUSABLE. we got sat around 10 minutes later, no discount or any other accommodations were offered. First restaurant of the trip! Wait was a little long but it was kinda worth it. The food was decent and I enjoyed the dressing for the Simple Salad. The pizza was great, as it always is. But we experienced a kitchen stafu that, in my view, really should not happen. We had to wait an unusually long time for our food to arrive, and we were all gracious about that. But when the pizza arrived, the pizza for one of our party of four did not come out with the rest of the pizzas. This would have been fine if the last pizza had only been a few minutes, but it was way, way longer than that. The rest of us were close to finishing our pizzas before the last pizza, for this one person in our party of four, arrived. I mentioned to the server, and the manager, that this just should never happen. You can't have three out of four people finishing their meal before the fourth person gets served their food. They gave us a discount, and a coupon. We left a healthy tip for the server, based on the original price, not the discounted price. It was not the server's fault. But it is something the manager needs to deal with. I don't care how busy the kitchen is; you serve a table at a time. It is already a hassle to park downtown, and we had to wait for a table, and we had to wait a long time for our food. We were willing to deal with all of that, because the pizza is great. But leaving one of a party of four without food for so long that the other three are almost done eating? That's a restaurant no-no. I might not go back there to eat in person for a while. I'll just get takeout. They need to get on top of the basics of running a sit-down restaurant. read more

Arrived here for a late lunch on a cold and gloomy Sunday afternoon. Parking was available in a lot across the street for $3. It was a 40 minute wait for indoor seating, but we were promptly sat at a covered outdoor table. The street is shutdown to car traffic on weekends. They had a big and varied menu of beers. Two in our party ordered local WV beers, and another ordered a Belgian witte.. Our friendly server Carly quickly brought them and water out. We wanted a margherita pizza and something "different". I had trouble making up my mind, so Carly recommended getting a large with two different halves. Done. We got Thai on one half, and sriracha shrimp on the other. The pies came out hot and fresh and tasty. Carly's service was outstanding. She was very friendly,telling us about how the restaurant and city were doing during and coming out of COVID. Carly also had much to offer us on what to see or do near New River Gorge. Overall, with the great beer selection and variety of pizzas, this place reminded me of the "Mellow Mushroom" chain in the Southeast I've been to before, and I would definitely come back. read more

The weekend of July 4, we were visiting the city. We run into this pizza place in the Main Street and decided to give it try. We sat outside, it was a beautiful day and the waitress was very nice. We ordered some drinks and two 10" pies (how they call their pizzas). One was mushroom garlic, and the other chicken and bacon. Everything was fine until we noticed that it took too long for our order to come out. We actually waited, and waited, until after 30 minutes we asked the waitress to get the order to go. Then, the pizzas appeared. The place was packed, but the three tables next to us, who got there later than us got their pies before us. I do have to say that the pizzas were delicious. Too bad we did not get a good service, and that's why I'm rating this place three stars. read more

Ambiance - very good. There is a small bar positioned just when you enter the restaurant. Table seating is located toward the back of the restaurant. There is a combination of high top and regular tables. The restaurant has limited seating and so it can get pretty crowded at times. Service- excellent. Our server was very attentive and pleasant. It was our first time dining at this small chain restaurant and our server did a nice job of introducing us to menu and the restaurant's focus. Food - very good. The restaurant is known for their huge selection of beer (dozens of imported and micro-brew beers) and their pizza. The pizzas range from the typical options to some very creative pies. My wife an I ordered the hot wings, which were unique and very good. They are dry rubbed and marinated in siriracha sauce. We then spilt a small specialty pie that was half chicken gouda and half pine & swine. Both toppings were very good. Value - very good. The prices are very reasonable given the freshness of the toppings and the creative toppings. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes beer and pizza (and who doesn't?) read more

This place was highly recommended by the staff at the Hampton Inn, and they couldn't have been more correct. The atmosphere is very modern, and they have loads of beers from which to choose. Service was perfect, and the servers seem to help one another, which always seems to work out better. We started with the wings, which are a dry rub. I normally like buffalo wings the best, but these were decent. They must have been sitting in the back, ready to serve, as they weren't all that hot, but they were meaty and were served with a bowl of Gouda cheese for dipping. We ordered a large pizza....half the Chicken Gouda and half the Pine Swine. The pizza came in a timely manner and smelled heavenly. The crust is wonderfully light and tasty. The chicken Gouda also had bacon and scallions with a drizzle of a chipotle sauce. It was super tasty and unique. The Pine Swine had pineapples, bacon and other stuff I don't remember. I really enjoyed it. A large pizza was too much for us, so we have leftovers!!!!! We learned this is a chain restaurant and will look forward to trying it again. I ordered with the bartender who was very nice and waited about 10 minutes for my pizza (gluten free, vegan cheese, regular pepperoni). Online ordering had stated it would be about 50 minutes for pickup, so I'm glad I ordered in person. The pizza tasted totally fine, but left me wishing for a bit more. It was basically flatbread with cheese and some toppings sprinkled around. A little less than I expected for ~$18. The pork on the nachos was great and I loved the smoky chipotle sauce drizzled on it. Beware, though, if you're sensitive to heat, as they are very generous with the jalapeños (but they're fresh!). The pizza is probably one of my favorite crusts. Crispy on the bottom and soft on the top. Topping were all good quality, especially loved the Italian sausage. Only reason for the 4/5 and not 5/5 was the wait for the check. We waited probably 20 minutes after we were done before we finally managed to flag our waitress down to close up our tab. After a long day in the car we stopped in Charleston for the night and decided to go to Pies & Pints for dinner. We were excited after reading all of the great Yelp reviews but we did not have a good experience. When we got there we were told there would be a 30 minute wait. After waiting more than 30 minutes my boyfriend went in to check the status and they told us another 30 minutes. We waited. Upon finally being seated, after an hour and fifteen minute wait, we did not see a waitress for another 20 minutes. Finally she came over and took our order. We ordered a Caesar salad to start which ended up being the best part of our meal. The dressing tasted homemade and was very good; there was plenty of parmesan cheese on top. However, our waitress brought us plastic forks to eat the salad with and said that all of the regular forks were dirty. This is pretty unacceptable if you are eating in a sit down restaurant. We got our pizza and it was tasteless; we ordered the Italian and the Margherita. The Italian had tons of toppings on it but somehow the Margherita pizza had much more flavor. The pizza was mediocre at best. The party at the table next to us left and we sat next to their dirty dishes and food on the floor for at least half an hour. Someone began to clean this up as we were walking out the door. On top of this we ended up spending $77 on this meal with each of us only ordering one drink. The quality of food and the experience was no where near worth the wait or the money. read more
