My observation/experience for brunch: My sister and I got seated at a half booth/half chair table. I acknowledge we didn't ask to get moved to a full booth table but less than five mins later two non-POC patrons are seated at the full booth window table two tables down from us. This is curious to me so I get up to use the restroom on the other side of the restaurant and note another POC pair sitting at a half booth/half chair table. I come out of bathroom and observe now another POC couple sitting right next to them yet there's a handful of full booth, window tables available. ***My question is are POCs treated equally at this restaurant?*** I recognize this is only a snapshot of the day and perhaps those other patrons requested their tables. I would love to hear from other POCs on when dining as a pair whether they've been proactively seated at the full booth tables, which I'd argue most would say are the better tables. Service by our waitperson was decent, food was meh. I ordered eggs benedict and it was on the watery side. Portions are large so those with medium appetites may consider sharing. read more

The bacon and egg omelette was pretty good. We also ordered a strawberry shortcake with ice cream and the shortcake was just a little salty. Nothing special. If you want a sandwich you can make at home with wonder bread, than this is the place. Food not worth the 1 hr wait. The service was great, good people. I think Covid put a bit of a damper on things since they have the back side of the restaurant rented in plastic so there is no view. Eggs Benedict were outstanding! I made one mistake! I should have gotten them with crab vs ham. The gal who served us said they had so many people who complained about another server... she is no longer there. We did come in about 9, so there wasn't a line yet! Roadtrip breakfast Was starting our journey back south from Washington and stopped in Seaside for breakfast. We drove around, saw this place and pulled over. Overall good food with large portions. Service was OK. The only complaint I may have it that they were not practicing social distancing (Covid June). Every both had a sort of 'barrier' above it, but every both was taken too. I'd feel more comfortable having an empty taped off table next to us. Many of the restaurants we ate at did this, not this one. The food was great. It's a good location too. But the real mvp of this review is our server, Norma. Norma was amazing! She was incredibly patient and accommodating to our kids' picky choices. She went of her way to make sure we they got what they wanted just how they wanted it. What an absolutely delightful breakfast we had here yesterday. I'm not a typical breakfast eater but we are on vacation and food sounded not bad. I'm usually a protein shake in the morning kind of gal. Anyway. We stepped inside and everything was neatly organized and clean, the staff was able to seat us right away. Two words: food poisoning. I've been to a couple different Pig 'n Pancake locations before and never had a problem. Honestly, I've always really liked this place. However, my family recently did a road trip through Oregon and we decided to stop at this location for lunch. My family and I all ordered different things, and my dad ordered a dish that contained shrimp (we all told him not to, he said the restaurant was on the water so it would probably be good, so it happened). Everything was fine until that evening when he got the worst food poisoning I have ever witnessed. He ended up in the hospital for a night, and was sick through the whole night all the way until the next morning. This was the only food he had ate that day, none of us tried his dish and none of us got sick, so I don't know what else could have happened. Before this incident, the pig 'n pancake would've been about a 3.5 star for me. I have a cute hoodie from there that I really love; it's super cute. I've also always liked the food I ordered. It's not amazing or anything, but it's pretty good. However, after this whole food poisoning debacle, I don't think I'll be returning no matter how cute I think the restaurant is. read more

My wife and I were in Seaside, OR for the night. We arrived the restaurant about 7:45pm, and even though the restaurant closed at 8:00pm, the cashier took us to a booth to order a meal. The restaurant is rather dated and could use a makeover, but the staff were kind an attentive. They serve classic diner food (ie, fried chicken, spaghetti, waffles, eggs, hash browns, soups, liver and onions! Etc.). For me, the food was greasy and kind of bland, but it's a old style classic diner, and a quick bite with an over priced plate of hash browns, eggs with a cup of water. I can't say I would be returning next time when I'm Seaside, but if your expectations are not for gourmet, it's a good diner for some high priced food with good service. read more

Probably the worst meal my wife and I have had in years. We ordered a waffle and Swedish pancakes with side orders of bacon and sausage. My waffle was a bit soggy, lukewarm, but edible, especially since we were quite hungry from being on the road all day, but my wife's Swedish pancakes were a disaster. They were cold, the "berry compote" was cold, and a chunk of cold butter sat on top of the bunch like a yellow snowball. Our waitress had disappeared and never checked back, so I finally had to go up to the front counter to express my concern and irritation. They expressed regrets about as warm as the butter. We never did see our original waitress again but one of the people from the front desk finally came over and asked my wife if she would like a new order of pancakes. She said yes. Big mistake. The second order appeared to have been on the griddle for half an hour or so: the edges were as crisp as taco chips, and while they were much warmer than the first batch the "berry compote" was not, nor was the accompanying icy butter ball. The sausage: way over spiced and dry. The bacon? Undercooked. This establishment has many good reviews, which means 1) we either hit the place on the worst day of the cooks' and servers' lives, or 2) you might want to give this place a pass. I wanted to try this place for brunch since it's an Oregon staple. The food ended up being just ok but it was an experience! I tried the razor clam and eggs and had a side of pancakes. The location is very convenient in the heart of Seaside. I have also visited the locations in Cannon Beach and Lincoln city as they are easy go tos when traveling on the Oregon coast. The Omelet was loaded to the brim with goodies and well cooked. Pancakes were fluffy and tasty. I shared it with my dad each having half with was more than enough food. My mom got the Belgian waffle with strawberries. It looked and tasted really good. It wasn't too heavy. Overall it is definitely a place I would come back to.
