Disappointed in the food here. Came on a Sunday afternoon not busy at all. Cashier was very polite. When to get some soda..the Dr.Pepper was out. Brown water flowed out. This place so authentic, the food is amazing. I tried the torta ahogada and it was amazing, the salsa was spicy in a real good way, the bread was great too. I have gone back several times and never dissapointed. I actually appreciate the service too, I was a little new to the tortas but the cashier took their time to go over the ingredients. I really appreciated that they went over the menu ingredients because I'm kina picky with my food. They also told me I could order ahead of time wich is nice because my lunch is always short with time. Simply great everything about the food was on point. I was impressed since I've been to other restaurants in the area and they really lacked on flavor or how fresh the food tasted. I love the carnitas torta ahogada! I have had it three times already and it hasn't changed on me yet. Potato tacos are good and the barbacoa tacos dorados are even better! Very clean inside! I'm jaliciense so you know I had to come try these authentic tortas ahogadas, and dam there good!!! Really authentic with the spicy hot sauce that there dipped in!!! The tacos dorados are also a must!!! Also I tried the tacos de barbacoa!!! Dude they tasted like those tacos de Birria we would eat early in the morning when I was a kid in TJ!!! They do need to work on the sides though, the beans weren't good, tasted fishy ,and rice was bland. If they perfect those sides I would give 5 stars (there bathrooms are clean too) I come here on a regular so I recommend it! read more

Good attempt.. but definitely not going back. Tried the tortas ahogadas and tacos dorados. The tacos were OK, a bit on the small side.This place doesn't use the traditional torta ahogada bread, they use a softer kind (almost like french roll). Upon ordering, the guy at the kitchen sprayed the bread with water then warmed up in the over (kindda strange). Meat was on the salty side but salsa was decent. Price was reasonable (2 tortas, 2 tacos dorados and 1 soda for about $17). I would rather skip this one and drive to our usual place at santa ana. read more

The Barbacoa alone is worth 4 stars! The menudo was ok but the tacos de Barbacoa were pretty tasty! We were lucky to get a table on a Sunday morning so a to go order is best for the weekends. I've been here several times now and always order a chokomil (it's my favorite). Also I like the tacos de papa dorados, it comes with three tacos for a cheap price. The tacos are good but my complain is that there is a lil bit of amount of papa inside. Wish they could put a bit more. I tasted the meat de tinga alone and it does taste a bit salty. So I went to pika tortas and ordered a torta ahogada combo de carnitas, which come with 2 tacos and a drink. You get to choose your sauce, I went for mild. The torta was nice and juicy, just looking at it but once I bit into it...it was delicious! They are generous with the meat, the meat to bread ratio is good!! The sauce is savory *mouth begins to water*. The tacos were good, but I was only able to finish one taco, the torta was extremely filling. All and all, I definitely recommend this place. Super bomb!!! Carne en su jugo is delicious! It is served with fresh homemade corn tortillas and a side of guacamole. If you want authentic Mexican food then you have to come here. The staff is friendly and they make you feel comfortable. Reasonably priced for large portions. They have so many delicious options on their menu that I had a hard time choosing. Overall this place has it going on! Top notch tortas ahogadas. I dare say better and bigger than other spots where they lay claim to "the best" in town. The place is clean and the staff is friendly and hospitable. I tried their tacos de barbacoa, they are of the chain!! Great tasting flavors packing into two slightly crunchy hand made tortillas. Just like back in Mexico. This place serves beer and mechiladas, but I'll leave those for my next visit. I often have a hard time finding a good place that also serves menudo (tripe soup) and this place nailed it! Nothing about the food served there makes you think this place ain't legit. Sure the Vicente fernandez tracks playing can serve as a reminder of those late nights with a bottle of tequila and heavily intoxicated friends on those Saturday nights when the night didn't go as well as you'd hoped and you drink until the sun rises, but then again those times are THE BEST TIMES!
