Tostada Mixta was the perfect late night meal

OK we can't say enough about how much we all lived this place! Mariscos La Playita are open late, the woman we met (who we believe to be one of the owners) that took our order and was absolutely lovely, and then the food came out... Wow, so yummy! Every thing was on point! We will definitely return any time we're even close to Lynnwood and try more items off the menu. Also it's good to know in the fall if you love tamales they have another restaurant that specializes in them named TAMALERIA Maria's. From the taste of everything we ordered we can pretty safely say their tamales are gonna be 100% on point as well and the service couldn't be any better either! 5 stars

3 fish taco plate with beans & rice and a pineapple aguasfresca.

Fish tacos 8/10 Beans 8/10 Rice 6/10 Green salsa 7.5/10 Red salsa 7.5/10 I ordered 3 fish tacos with beans & rice and a large pineapple aguasfresca. Total $22.05. Friendly service, fresh food. Patio is pretty standard, nothing fancy. I recommend and would come back next time I'm out this way.

Order on street side (to the right) & pickup window is on the left. (3/27/21)

*** good spot for lunch in Lynwood, CA *** ENVIRONMENT Mariscos La Playita has it's own building on Atlantic Ave near Imperial Hwy in Lynwood. It's a bit run down, but there's a makeshift order window facing Atlantic because they weren't allowing indoor dining even though the place is fairly small. There are a few picnic tables and chairs outside under shade. The pick up window is just to the side. I got yelled at by the cook for not realizing the order window was on the other side. Eff, sorry! SERVICE The female server was cordial. The old Spanish-only speaking man cooking was a grouch. Geeze, if y'all would clean it up a bit and have legit signs directing folks that might help. (I wasn't the only customer who walked to the wrong window.) Otherwise, take that chill pill already. MY FAVORITE PART... The flavorful asada. Also, the free drink with a Yelp checkin. NOT SO FAVORITE PART... Lynwood. Lol. The grouchy cook. THE GRUB I don't recall having an asada plate ($14) with the steak only sliced into two portions. Usually it's all cut up, but whatevs. The asada itself as very flavorful, but not quite as tender as I expected. The rice was fine. The refried beans were a bit runny. I enjoyed the three soft flour tortillas. The salad was mostly fresh. While I enjoyed the separately bagged sliced radishes and limes, they could have been more fresh. There were three small containers of salsas - verde, rojo, and an avocado blend. The avocado salsa was the spiciest and had the best flavor. For my drink, I chose Jamaica. It was super sweet! PARKING Free parking on the side and around back. TIP Check in to Yelp for a drink (as of 3/27/21). OVERALL If I went back, I'd probably be more inclined to try some shrimp tacos and/or ceviche. Heard better things about those items. I'm not rushing back any time soon, though. | Food: 4 | Service: 4 | Environment: 3 | Price: 3 |

    Chicken salad

My pops made the mistake in ordering a chicken salad. The chicken salad were chunks not strips. The salad was not cut right. I understand this is a seafood place but if you can't do this right then don't put in on the menu.

    Shrimp mush ceviche

I used to come here back in the day. The ceviche was always on point. However I just went and it's terrible. You couldn't identify a shrimp if you tried. It was like shrimp mush. The consistency was disgusting. Probably won't be back , sucks.

    Burrito chon

I love burritos. Why because they are convenient and a way to eat something on the go. It's perfectly packaged for a person on the move. This burrito has everything protein ( my favorite al pastor) rice, beans, cheese, and sour cream. The burrito game is elevated by their preparation. They lay the flour tortilla on the grill and put the shredded cheese down so it can melt like a cheese quesadilla. They the fill it with the all fixings. Once rolled into the burrito package is topped with more cheese and avocado slices. Then on the side the best avocado salsa I have tasted in awhile. I will definitely be ordering a burrito from this place again. P.S. look at the picture!!

    Fish taco

Had fish & shrimp tacos on taco Tuesday & it was probably the worst fish taco I've ever had. Romaine lettuce and some mayo it was horrendous. I almost stopped talking to my friend for even taking me here. Disrepectful !!!!!

    Tacos (carne asada, chicken, birria)
    Nathandra W.

Very satisfying! The tacos were amazing, especially the birria! Their burrito was pretty tasty as well. Their torta was ok, not a super fan but I'd definitely come back for some more tacos and their burrito

Large cup with mostly juice and little seafood
    Eddie V.

I ordered a campechana through Postmates. Upon receiving the order I noticed the large cup I ordered was mostly juice and about 1/4 of the cup was seafood. Mind you for a 20$ I'd expect there to be more than 1/4 of the cup of seafood. Contacted postmates and they credited me 6$ back. How ever for future people who use postmates beware. Would have given it 5 stars because the mariscos are great from here but that really bothered me.

La Playita is usually busy but the service is quick. The aguas frescas are delicious. The strawberry drink is my favorite. It has a milky consistency. It's iced and sweet, delicious. The tacos are served well. I always order AL PASTOR. I top it off with the guacamole salsa.

Demanding as Mother's Day, when most places are overwhelmed, they still managed to deliver an experience that felt intentional and heartfelt. Despite the long wait, it was clear that the demand far exceeded expectations, yet the service never lost its warmth. At one point, she even offered me an agua fresca as a gesture of kindness while I waited. I respectfully declined, understanding that a day like Mother's Day comes with heavy volume and pressure, and that delays are simply part of supporting a small business doing its best under strain. What stood out most was the owner's presence. She carried herself like a mother to everyone there serving each customer as if they were family. She stepped away from her own personal time to make sure other families were fed and cared for. That kind of sacrifice and commitment is not just business; it's cultural preservation in motion. TACOZ brings authentic heritage flavors to the city in a way that feels irreplaceable. The tamales, carnitas, and overall food experience were deeply rooted in tradition and full of flavor that reflects generations of culture. People should understand that moments like this are not about convenience they are about supporting something real. On busy days especially, patience is part of respecting the work being done. Instead of criticism, there should be appreciation for what it takes to keep a small, culture-driven business alive and thriving. In the end, TACOZ delivered more than food. It delivered a connection to heritage, family, and community. That kind of experience is something worth valuing and protecting. Keep Going gurl ! I'll be back and so many of your audience ! One person doesn't bring down a team ! Both meats were good, but a little under-seasoned for my personal taste. I also tried the Jamaica agua fresca. It was refreshing, but I'd personally give it about a 2 out of 5. On the other hand, the salsa macha was really good and added a lot of flavor to the meal. The place is a bit small for dining in, especially when it gets busy, but the customer service was great. The staff was friendly and welcoming throughout the visit. I'd definitely come back again because I noticed several other menu items I'd like to try next time.
