I ordered door dash and got the food fairly quickly! I ordered from here since they had a lot of options for dairy free + gluten free. Wish they were customizable as you order. But they are ONLY if you order a dozen of the same kind. Makes sense! The workers on the phone were very helpful and gave good advice on what to get. I ordered the GF chicken lightly bbq, GF Fugazzeta, vegan spinach & cheese, & vegan caprese. These aren't your typical empanadas but they were good! I would probably reorder the vegan options again as those were my favorite. Wish it had more filling. As you see they dont have a closing at the top. I also wish they were somewhat labeled, I guessed what was what. read more

We stumbled upon Pilar's mobile empanada offering at a Bonita Springs farmers market while visiting friends. Our friends hadn't experienced empanadas before so we were anxious to order a few different types for us to share. We had the All American so they could try something pretty simple with the ground beef with cheese. Next was the Choripanada with the simple sausage link portion in the dough pocket. It had good flavor. It was the Patagonia with lamb braised in Malbec wine with rosemary and carrots that stole the show. That was by far everyone's favorite as the flavor combination was great. It would be worth checking out their main restaurant location to see their entire dining experience, but you can't go wrong if you just pick up a few to enjoy while roaming the farmer's market. read more

I used to love this place. They have vegan options. But when I was in town last year had one at a farmers market and it was ice cold on the inside after being heated and it did not taste as good. Never went back to them found a better vendor to eat and walk around the farmers market. Well back in town again and against my better judgment I decided to give them one more try same thing these were worse than last year.The empanada was ice cold there was barely any filling in it and the dough tasted like it was a day old. Just horrible.What the hell did I pay $5 for. Such a shame because they used to be really good. read more

This place is incredible. I always try to stop by whenever I'm in Fort Myers. Everything I've ever had here is delicious, but the bleu cheese and fuggazeta empanadas are especially good. We are often in the area and saw their trailer advertising empanadas, which we love, but not just empanadas....gluten free empanadas as well. Hello-must try!! (probably wouldn't have stopped without the GF ad as the rest of us don't want to watch 1 person eating) This is a very unassuming strip mall where you might not even know an authentic empanada place existed. Small & very casual eat-in or take-out restaurant. They will heat items for you or let you heat at home. Also have some family meal and dessert options. Seems a lot of their business is done at local farmer's markets so this seems to be the kitchen for their business. The owner comes from Argentina and her son, who was very pleasant and attentive, helped us on one of our stops. We have been in a couple times since then (drive from Alva just for their food!) & tried several of their options. The hubs loves the regular spicy beef empanadas and they look delish! They are the typical foldover crimped design and he doesn't care to venture out from this flavor. The rest of us are gluten-free and soy-free and have tried all of the GF options except spinach/cheese (just didn't sound as good as the others). We like the traditional beef, bbq chicken and ham/cheese. The fugazetta is really good, just pretty rich. If you've ever had the Trader Joe's carmelized onion and cheese mini tarts, this is a similar taste. Very good if you're more of a cheese person than a meat person. Really wish the spicy beef was a GF option as I'm not personally in love with egg/raisin portion of the traditional. Please consider adding spicy beef to your GF rotation!! :) Should note that the GF empanadas are more of a tart/bowl type style, not the crimped foldover. Not sure if a foldover design is even possible with GF dough, but it would totally elevate the experience! Yes-the empanadas are pricey, but everything is pricey and you pay for gluten-free options of specialty foods. I'd love lower prices, but am happy to pay for the convenience of this occasional snack/meal. Or you can save money by buying a dozen. If you're looking for a deal, their family size shepard's pie (sell individual or fam size) was super affordable! It was good for at least 3, maybe 4 people depending on how much your kids eat. (fyi-the white square things in it aren't soy-it's egg. woohoo!) Great to have in the freezer for a day when you don't have a lot of time to prep/cook. Now I'm craving more Pilar's.
