We visited Pinchers in Venice Beach, which was across the street from our hotel, three times on our recent trip. During this time I had and/or shared a number of items: - Stuffed Grouper (special) - They brought me the wrong dish at first, but made it right efficiently. I ordered the grouper blackened style. It was tasty overall, although I found that the blackening spice could have used a bit less salt and they could have been a bit more generous with the stuffing. I had garlic mashed potatoes and garlic green beans, and both of these were very good. At $32, I thought it was a bit overpriced; based on value I'd see a price point of $24-26, perhaps $28 if they upped the stuffing a bit. - Blackened Grouper (special) - my wife had this with garlic bread and garlic green beans, and declared it excellent. - Crab Rangoon (appetizer) - all parties agreed this was very good. Wontons were crisp. The individual pieces were small but contained a good amount of filling given the size. - Conch Fritters (appetizer) - again, all parties enjoyed these. They were tasty, and the presence of conch in the fritters was clearly evident. Shrimp Scampi - I had this with angel hair pasta. The pasta was cooked exactly right, and the sauce was above average. As advertised, the amount of shrimp provided was generous. The service was great, and the restaurant was very generous with respect to the adult beverages. We shall return. read more

Great blackened grouper. I think three of us had that. One had the salmon. We all agreed it was delicious. We gave more guests coming Tuesday. This is a chain restaurant and it's good food and very nicely decorated. They work really hard to make sure your experience is a good one. The sea food is locally caught and fresh. I love there crab rangoon! Excellent value for the money! 2 for one drinks all day every day and kids eat free! This a true family restaurant and if you have a large group they can accommodate it. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Make sure you hit this place when your in the area. Bon appetit. read more

This was my second time at Pincers. My first meal was literally the first day they opened after taking over from the failed Robbie's Reef. Our food was only so-so? Now 3 months later the food was all just average to poor! Little flavor, no herbs or spices, no sauces, no toppings. Just "bland". The service was OK. But, the NOISE was still unbearable. Robbie's was so loud from the first day, that you couldn't talk to your table mates. Pincers has done nothing to improve the acoustics. It is really bad. As a person from Maryland who loves eating crabs, their crab prices, even prices in general, were WAY to high. A dozen crabs was $64.99 where I can pay for two people for all you can eat crabs. I ordered the pinchers claws which were $16 and not worth it. The claws had barely any crab meat on them and took forever to finish and I was still starving after finishing the dish. We have given this place try and try again but this was our last. The crab dip is what keeps us coming back. The service was horrible. Left without drinks which is my pet peeve in a restaurant. Ordered snow crab and were given no supplies to get the crab out. Ordered a double order of fries as the two sides and were given one cold and not done fries. I also do not appreciate who ever is in the kitchen yelling "runner" at the top of her lungs over and over again. I was so disappointed. I called to put my name & they assured there was no wait, when i got there there was a 15 minute wait, which isnt a big deal other than i am 8 months pregnant & was starving. I give a 3.5 out 5, the atmosphere was great, great view, service was excellent but food was only okay. My husband got the crab legs, oysters, rice, and mashed potatoes which he was was awesome. I got the pasta with crab in it, but I had to constantly pick shells out of my mouth, so it really took away from the meal for me. Ordered the soft shell crab and was VERY disappointed!! The crabs were so small I could hear them crying that they were taken from their mother. The two crabs were $36 and were horrible!! The garlic bread was bland. Also-ordered the crab cake which was OK and the French fries were good (enough for three people) The place was crowded probably because of two for one drinks all day. Pinchers is the newest seafood place in town and was quite crowded, but we seemed to get served within a reasonable amount of time . This was good because there happy hour is two for one drinks and I opted for a double shot of rum in my rum and coke. I enjoyed my shrimp meal ( one of their features, and my husband enjoyed his fish entree. Once we got seated, everything moved smoothly. an enjoyable evening on the bar balcony by the water. We were so happy with this place. We had a party of 8 including 4 kids. They seated us quickly even though they were really busy. Kids eat free ALL THE TIME!!! So it was super affordable. Tried this new restaurant in Venice. Large varied menu with a big variety of crab, fish shrimp and more. My wife said her crab cake was very good. On vacation from Indiana and I must say, we have better seafood in the Midwest than this place. First off, I ordered the king Alaska and 2 orders of snow crab legs and none of these items were fresh. The crab was dry and over cooked and our server didn't ask which seasoning we preferred so we missed out on that experience. A little seasoning would've made the crab more bearable. Went for lunch on Sunday. Ordered the fish and chips with fresh cut fries and cole slaw. The slaw was the best thing on my plate. The fries were fresh cut but not fresh fried. In order to be their best they need to be right out of the fryer. These were not. Fish was overly breaded and oily; not the batter coating you get on real fish and chips. Their cocktail sauce is not the best. Tried making my with their horseradish and table catsup (which was a private label and not Heinz). The crab cakes were another matter entirely, with way, way too much filler. Someone else noted a disappointment with this dish, so the recipe should be totally reworked or removed from the menu. Short time after eating grouper sandwiches coleslaw and green beans, my wife and I both had stomach issues. Will not be returning .

My in-laws live in Nokomis and every time my husband and I come down to visit his parents we always plan for at least one dinner at Pinchers. I've never been so enthusiastic about a seafood restaurant ever before. There's always a coupon floating around out there for a free crab dip (although I do not partake) and definitely order the alligator app special if they have it. My husband loves the crab Rangoon while I'm a grouper nugget kind of girl. My husband also loves all of the shrimp options. I go for either fried fish or grilled/blackened mahi mahi. The seasoning on the blackened option is phenomenal. I've also gotten the grouper tacos and the mango salsa that comes with them is delicious. The ONLY thing I don't like is the French fries. They are super crispy and brown and completely unsalted. Adding table salt to them does not help and they are overdone for my liking anyway. I keep forgetting that I don't like the fries and keep ordering them but one of these days I'll remember. read more
