A really cute small hole in the wall that I wouldn't have known about unless someone had told me. Decided to stop here on a Sunday and it may be a little bit difficult to find parking on some days, but we parked across the street. The store itself is pretty small, but they have a lot of different things to choose from and the variety is really awesome. From putting to ice cream to paletas and mangonadas. I got the banana pudding ice cream which was great. My boyfriend was so excited to see they had Arroz con leche Overall, it's a little bit out of the way for us, but I could definitely see us coming back!

We love little mom and pop shops like this, especially when they offer us new treats from other cultures. I do recall stopping in a long time ago and getting some ice cream, but on this visit, we just got some rice pudding since we weren't exactly hungry. Service was very friendly and thanked us. I'm happy to support immigrant-owned businesses.

Wow, what a great vibe and ice cream. They have so many paletas, ice cream, and other options. I was so tempted to get the mangonada but I got one of their seasonal flavors and it did not disappoint. I wish I could come back here over and over again!

Always a nice place to go for dessert. Got the guava popsicle and a tres leches small cup. I tend to try something different every time I stop by.

Can't believe this is the first time I've been to Pincho Loco! I got a scoop of the Banana Pudding ice cream, which was delicious- perfect amount of banana flavor & loved the soft nilla wafers. Convenient (but easy to miss) location on a corner of 9th St, lots of free parking nearby. Fast service, spacious & nice ambiance. 10/10 would recommend.

Great choices. So many different things to choose from. Fast service. It seems they are Salvadoran . The desserts are amazing. Lots of flavors. Small but lots of seating.

We loved this place! The owner was super friendly and welcomed us immediately, there was no line to order and we didn't feel rushed to make a decision while looking at the menu. He let us sample anything flavor ice cream wanted, including tequila ice cream - that is a MUST try. I'm bummed I don't live in Durham to be eating this ice cream more often, but next time we are in town we'll be there! Ambience was fun and energetic - would recommend for a date night or outing with friends.

Love love love Pincho Loco! Such a cute local spot! The ice cream is super creamy and flavorful. Definitely try the cotton candy. Staff was friendly, and the vibe is fun and welcoming. Perfect for a summer treat or quick dessert stop. I'll be back to try the ice cream cake slices and ice cream cupcakes!

Pincho Loco is a must-visit in Durham! Delicious ice cream with unique Mexican flavors, plus tasty snacks like elotes and chamoy treats. Fun vibe, friendly staff--perfect for a quick sweet (or spicy) fix!

Friends loved the mango sorbet. My personal favorite gelato flavor is pistachio so of course I had to get this. Loved it. It is milky and creamy and decadent. I would definitely come here again after meals on ninth street! The inside is a nostalgic ice cream parlor feel.

A beautiful family-owned shop with unique artsy decor and incredibly kind employees. There are many flavor options and toppings, and even paletas for those who are not in the mood for ice cream. The cappuccino crunch was incredible, and the salted caramel was flavored perfectly. I cannot wait to come back.

Fun family-owned ice cream shop with unique and classic flavours! They were kind to let my partner and I try a few flavours before we landed on our final choices. I had the truffle bourbon scooped in a perfectly crispy waffle cone. Highly recommend!

Pincho_loco is a cute little eclectic hidden gem on 9th St Durham that serves a variety of ice cream, floats, gelato, etc! We ordered: Cappuccino crunch ice cream cone - So creamy! Loved the coffee taste and chocolate chunks. Would come back for this! Coke-float - My friend prefers this over a root beer float! Overall, loved this dessert shop!

(I love sorbet, but sometimes you want rich ice cream). Besides chocolate mint and Vietnamese coffee, there's an enticing lime sorbet and a rotating seasonal flavor, which in late July was a blackberry crumble that is delicious with little bits of crumble ribboned throughout (I love to chew my ice cream). A single scoop is actually quite generous and only $5. Service is speedy and friendly. We came on a Friday evening at around 7pm, and there was no line (though a few people came in right behind us). The place is bright and airy, with some seating, and a great counter showing a selection of chocolate treats and the menu of milkshakes. I was delighted that they had some dairy-free milkshakes, given my lactose intolerance! And 4 choices no less! They of course had fancier flavors in the dairy set, more complex than CookOut (which I love). My girlfriend and I got the lactose-free cookies and cream milkshake. They fixed it on the spot, so we got it in maybe 2 minutes. Service was friendly-- they were patient with the customers behind us who were a bit unruly (more playful unruly than rude). One word-- DELICIOUS. Not too sweet, but just right. I've had some weird dairy-free milkshakes with a grittiness or chalkiness, but this was straight-up like how I remember the real deal. It was thick too, and unlike CookOut, they gave you a thick straw so you can actually drink with it. Why 4 stars and not 5? The price was a bit steep. With a $1 tip, this one shake (which was reasonably sized but far from huge) was over $10. But for the quality and selection, I do think it's "not unreasonable". Worth the try, and worth it for a special treat!

"Eastern-inspired ice cream and other sweets, next door to La Vaquita in Durham"…read more Stopped by this lovely shop at 7pm on a Saturday evening. The name a little hard to catch, but it's a small greenish building immediately beside La Vaquita on Chapel Hill Road (with the giant cow on the roof). The outdoor area is quite nice, with a fenced outdoor area having swings and other seating/ space for families. We were greeted quite warmly when we arrived. They had maybe ~15 flavors of ice cream or similar (will return to that in a second) as well as other sweets like baklava. But this is not your ordinary ice cream shop-- the flavors were unusual. Cucumber, date, and others caught my eye, but I didn't try those. Unlike one Yelp reviewer's comment, when we went, there was both a regular pistachio as well as a vegan pistachio option. I got something different-- I tried the falooda... a Persian inspired ice-cream-like dish with rose syrup and small cooked noodles. The texture is slightly like an italian ice, but the flavor was great. However, there's more-- on a table off to the side, there were separate lemon and cherry flavors that we were invited to try adding to the falooda. Let me tell you-- either addition turned a good dish into a heavenly dish! Sooooo good. Try it, but only if you're open to "this isn't just ice cream". There were also some wafer cookies to the side we were invited to have with our respective dishes. Seating inside was stools at benches facing a thin window bar-- outside is nicer if you have a big group and/ or if weather is nice, but it was fine. I did stop by the restroom briefly, and it was clean, too. Overall, definitely plan to come back to this eastern-inspired ice cream shop, and I encourage others to give it a try too!
