Good ice cream, cool cones, friendly staff. We ordered 2 cones with 1 scoop each, strawberry in a chocolate cone(first people I've seen offer this), and butter pecan in a regular waffle. Total came out to $7.16 Strawberry ice cream was very soft, with good, natural tasting strawberry flavor. It also had whole strawberries in it which is a cool departure from the conventional pieces/chunks most places do. The chocolate cone tasted like chocolate Teddy Grahams flattened and rolled into a cone, paired with the ice cream well although it some spots it was a bit chewy. hard to explain and I'm not sure what caused it but it was probably just a fluke and the entire cone wasn't like that. They also have sprinkles cones which seems cool. My wife enjoyed her butter pecan and said it was very generous with the pecans. There seemed to be a pretty small selection of flavors but id say there's enough to suit anyone. The staff was very friendly which is a bonus too. I was excited to see a new ice cream place in Durham and decided to stop by. The man at the register was extremely welcoming and friendly. He showed me the menu and talked me through all the flavors, gave recommendations, and offered samples. I ended up getting a scoop of the tiger flavor (vanilla, chocolate, and butter pecan swirl I think) and coffee and almond. They did have waffle and sugar cones available but I just went with a cup. The consistency of the ice cream was good - thick and creamy. The flavors are a bit subdued, and I kind of wish they had more variety including flavors with more mix-ins. I would recommend coming here to try out their unique flavors. They are locally owned and ran by a family who are nice nice nice. They give out samples for anything you want to try. My husband and I stopped in for some ice cream after enjoying some spicy poke from Zenfish. They were super friendly and helpful in describing their flavors and options. My husband and I went for waffle cones - mine was bourbon truffle and cappuccino crunch. My husband had bourbon truffle and rum raisin. We both agreed that the bourbon truffle may have been the best ice cream we've ever had. My husband also loved the rum raisin but felt that the alcohol content was a little strong. The popsicles are reasonable priced and bigger than locopops. But the 5/5 is in the flavor. I had a guanabana one which tasted creamy but it is dairy free. The flavor was amazing, little added sugar, and has real fruit chunk in it. We also the spicy pineapple with real pineapple chunks with sweet and salty and nice spicy heat. One of our all time favorites is a small Mexican place in Fort Smith, AR, and we thought this sounded similar. Not! The ice cream is not rich, but that is okay if the flavors are good. The butter pecan has a weird after taste, as did a couple of others we bought. The caramel was decent, but not great. The cappuccino was just okay. Raleigh/Durham does not have any great ice cream, like Graeter's or Jenni's, but they have several better than Pincho. read more
