We were able to stay with our miniature poodle in this unit. Lots of pluses. First, the central A/C worked really well. Second, the unit was clean and had a full kitchen so we could prepare our own dinner for two nights. Third, my older son loved using the kayak for fishing and caught a perch in the lake! Also, we appreciated that the staff called us in the morning to ask if we needed limited housekeeping services. With our dog in the unit, they granted our request to remove our full trash bag (which I left outside) and drop off extra towels. The only minuses are that it's a bit pricey and the interior space of the cottage is a bit cramped. But it was fantastic to enjoy a private dock and view of the lake. Overall, we would stay here again in the future - perhaps at a lakeview cottage up the hill!

The room had…read morewiring and slip hazards that have no business existing at $300 a night, and their reservation system lost us entirely. There's a 4-star half a mile down the road. I don't normally review a place on a single visit -- I want to know a business is consistent before I say anything. The exceptions are when I'm traveling, or when the experience is memorable enough to warrant it, for good or ill. This one is both. First things first: the maintenance crew was EXCELLENT. They showed up fast when the AC wasn't working (in JULY), fixed what they could on the spot, and not once did anyone argue or imply we were imagining the problem. That's rarer than it should be. The manager also went out of her way with gluten-free dining recommendations around town, which -- as someone who travels with GF folks -- I don't take for granted. And the food at the on-site restaurant was great... though it may have been catered. Sadly, the maintenance crew cannot carry the weight of this building's problems. Let's start before we even got there. Booking took MONTHS to get corrected (not joking; started in late summer of 2025, a year beforehand). The phone number on their website, and on every confirmation email they sent, is an 888 number that does not reach the hotel. Not "takes a while to reach." Does not reach. Changes we made by phone evaporated. Voicemails went unreturned. Booking inside the wedding room block seemed to genuinely baffle whoever picked up. The payoff: we walked up to the desk Friday and were told our reservation had been CANCELLED, because their system still had us as a Thursday no-show. We'd changed it to Friday-Sunday weeks earlier. Confirmed it. By phone. On the number they gave us. Then, Room 306: 1. No phone in the room. No posted front desk number anywhere. To reach the front desk of the hotel I was standing inside of, I had to Google it on my cell -- and Google gave me inconsistent numbers. Seriously? 2. Both A/C units were broken or barely functional on arrival. Maintenance swapped the sitting-area unit same day and it was flawless afterward. The bedroom unit never worked correctly. Not once, all weekend. 3. Both bedside lamps and both nightstands -- each with a 3-prong outlet and a USB port -- all ran off ONE wall outlet, through a daisy chain of splitters and extension cords. The wall switch on the left did absolutely nothing. The one on the right killed the lamps AND the nightstand power, which is where my medically necessary CPAP was plugged in. So both nights I had to unplug both lamps by hand in order to sleep, and every morning plug them back in. Inconvenience aside: that is a LOT of load on one outlet. 4. The bathtub had no anti-slip surface, no grab bar, and sat at a genuinely noticeable tilt. I slipped more than once and caught myself. I got lucky. Someone won't. 5. The bathroom has no vent. Its ventilation is a wooden-framed window in the wall by the room door -- no screen, no frosting, no privacy anything. Open it and you're open to the weather and to whoever's walking past. 6. That bathroom's only light is a dim fixture hung low over the sink. It doesn't light the room, and I hit my head on it repeatedly. The two overhead lights in the room proper are the opposite problem: bright enough to give you a headache. There is nothing in between. 7. The TV is enormous and mounted where you have to crane your neck sideways at it, instead of on the wall the bed faces. Someone chose that on purpose. 8. Anemic water pressure, and several minutes of running the tap before anything got warm. All of this ran roughly $300 a night. I want to be fair to the people who work here, because they were good to us every single time. But no amount of good service fixes four devices chained out of one outlet, or a tilted tub with nothing to grab. Fix the wiring and the bathroom and this is a different review. Until then -- there's a 4-star HALF A MILE DOWN THE ROAD that's better in every way that matters.

I stayed in the Double Queen bed, handicap accessible room. It was very spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable. I found that they didn't have a lot of functional things in the room. There weren't a lot of places to hang up towels. They didn't give the usual hotel toiletries like the shower caps, cotton swabs, makeup remover wipes, etc. They did have an electric kettle in the room and a little tray where they had some tea bags, hot coco packets, and an ice bucket. I couldn't find the other amenities from the other review like the noise machine. We only went to the main building to check in and check out, but I did see the hot coffee station and the gift shop. I didn't use either of these. I did, however, enjoy the complimentary smores one night when I had a sweet tooth. They put the kits out by the restaurant on site and there were two fire pits with a few chairs. I wish they had more, smaller fire pits so it could be a more private experience. (The people sitting at the fire pit didn't seem to appreciate when we asked if we could use the fire for smores.) The fire pits are also by an inground pool and a hot tub. The pool had signage that said it was closed, but they did not cover the pool. I'm not sure if the hot tub was open and I didn't see anyone use it during my stay. The WiFi was abysmal, which really was inconvenient because my boyfriend and I did not get great cell service for the entire trip. We were really relying on WiFi when we went to different businesses to plan things and make reservations. Because WiFi was not great at the hotel, some functions of the TV were unusable. These could be growing pains for the hotel if they are a newer business in Stowe, so hopefully they continue to grow and improve because the location is great and the foundation of a great hotel is definitely there!

You can stay in the room's attached to the main area or you can stay in the ones on the side or in the back they have a outside pool in the back but it is obviously closed in the winter. There is an ice machine in the main building along with coin operated washer and dryer as well as an exercise room on the third floor. It was quiet you didn't hear too many other people and the woman at the front desk was very nice. I would definitely recommend this place. It's also right in the center of everything so you can walk to restaurants and the walking/biking trail is right in the back.

I bang on the door a couple times and a woman who I called half an hour ago answered in her extra short, little robe. At this point I was looking around for cameras because it was starting to feel like the beginning of an goofy 80's movie. Attractive women do NOT answer their doors in slinky robes and invite ME inside!! I told the gal how strange I thought this was but it seemed pretty normal here. I put a name, an address and a phone number on a piece of paper, she doesn't even bother to ask for my ID. I pay $50 cash and she hands me the key. She shows me to my room, shows me the basement and the sauna and wishes me a good night. Says I'm welcome to look around and explore. I'm traveling alone but she put me in a room that could easily hold 5. Half the rooms have open doors. I wander up to the second floor and see that most of the doors are open up there too. The front door isn't locked, I could have walked in, found a room I liked, locked the door and called it a night. She would never have known. I'm convinced that carfulls of penniless ski bums do that all the time. Arrive at 11:00 or midnight. Tiptoe up to the second floor and crash for the night. Take a shower and get up and out early and the only person that might ever realize it would be the housekeeper. Crazy. The restrooms and showers are dorm style, down the hall. I couldn't get any wifi and there was no info about wifi in the room. Maybe they don't have it. Strangely, there also weren't any heater controls in the room but it stayed comfortably warm anyhow. The sauna works great. Don't think they serve food anymore. It was a fun, odd, loosey goosey place to stay for a business traveler.

We had a nice sized room in the carriage house which may have been a bit dated but was nice. The lodge itself was very nice, with a rustic feel and great views of the lake. The gentleman that checked us in was so very pleasant and accomidating. If we have to to Wheeler mountain again without our camper we will certainly stay here again.

I'm writing this review from my bed early before a day of biking with my son at KFL. What can I say…read more- this place is great. And we found it by accident! My wife found it online the day before we came up on a busy June weekend. The quick rundown is there's a big converted barn where we stayed. The rooms are clean, rustic and charming. The barn lodge was quiet each night while it was clearly a busy weekend. There's also camping allowed on the site, but the vibe is mature and family friendly. Everyone we met was kind and polite to me and my 9 y/o son. There is a separate shared bathroom and shower facility about 30 feet from the barn. While this may not be everyone's thing, the indoor and outdoor showers are all clean, strong and felt wonderful after a day out on the trails. There is a large shared common area with a tv and nice space to read, which doubles as bike storage if you're rolling around on a $10,000 sled. There's also a shared fridge and coffee there in the am. If you're coming up to bike the KTA trails or just enjoy the beauty of the region I can't recommend the farm enough. It may be my regular place to stay for future weekend trips.

Very relaxing. The little extras make this a gem: continental breakfast in the "living room", coffee, a very homey gas fireplace and leather couches make you want to linger.
