This was a nice homey spot to come right after a long hike. When you walk in, it feels like you're walking into a country living room. I'm the atmosphere was very chilly and I probably could have taken a nap if it was appropriate. I got the grilled cheese and the apple pie. Both were safe options. I think my only critique for this place is that the menu didn't have a lot of options so I only really went with the grilled cheese because it seemed to be the only option for me and it didn't even come with an option for its normal companion of tomato soup. Maybe a piece of advice for the Chef would be to consider livening up the menu a tad or at least offer tomato soup with your grilled cheese.

I wouldn't even give this establishment a star but I had to put something. I hate writing a review like this but wow was it bad. The service was just fine but the atmosphere and the food were horrific. I was sitting elbow distance to another table who coughed the whole time. My burger had mold on the bun (picture attached below) and the burger was cold. My friend ordered mac & cheese which was just noodles with cheese on top. I was so disappointed and I will not be returning ever.

Home style country cooking. Staff is so friendly, restaurant is quaint, and food is high quality and tastes delicious. You can tell everything is homemade. I got the creamed chip beef and would definitely get again!

This was our first visit. Despite the obsession with the former guy, they didn't push politics, just great food. The staff was amazingly friendly and knowledgeable. Even though it is out of the way, it is completely worth the trip. We will be making the journey again real soon!

Cute local restaurant! They even sell local fresh eggs. It was pretty empty when we went in, so service was very attentive and pretty quick. This would be a great place to eat on a nice day as they have some great outdoor seating. Only taking one star off because they don't take credit cards, which was not clear to me until the bill came. Luckily they accept checks and have an ATM machine.

Giving this 4 stars for the category of restaurant it's in ($). The breakfast was good, nice fresh sliced home fries, a western omelette with authentic VA sliced ham, and friendly and quick enough service. We are not local, but picked this place because we read on Facebook that outdoor dining is available. In COVID era this is a consideration of ours. After being seated outside we noticed that tables are not spaced 6 ft apart and the waitress (while friendly and fast) did not wear a mask. Upon exit we also noticed a Trump sign on the door... sooo... if you mix politics with pancakes you may not want to eat here. On the merit of the food, service and price only I would recommend and return.

This is a quaint little down home country dive. You feel like you're dining at your grandma's house with the decor, dishes, and drink ware. The service was a little slow but the ladies that work there were all very nice. The menu was a little vague as there are no descriptions for any of their specialty items but the staff is happy to answer any questions you might have. The food was quite good. I ordered the onion rings based on other yelp reviews and they did not disappoint!

So.....I'm driving to a government site (which shall remain unnamed) in the middle of nowhere, and reached the general area WAY ahead of schedule. So with some time to kill and a growling stomach, I thought "let's get some breakfast!". Of course, in the middle of nowhere, you don't have many options, and it had been a long time since I'd seen any signs along the highway for anything. So thank goodness for the Yelp iPhone app! Pine Grove Restaurant came up in a search for places nearby, had a couple of really good reviews, so I plugged in the directions and off I went. You really have to be looking for this place to find it. As I mentioned, there are NO signs on the highway to tell you this place is here. It's out in the country in the middle of small rural homes, around the corner from a little old country church. The parking lot is tiny, and there were a couple of trucks parked in front when I pulled up. However, as I walked in the door, the owners of those trucks walked out, so I was the lone diner for my breakfast. Cozy is the first word that came to mind.....lots of antiques and rustic furniture with nice wood floors. The server was quick and friendly, and the coffee was fresh and hot. Looking over the menu, they had an impressive selection, and since I was REALLY hungry, I opted for a dish that I REALLY wish I could remember the name of.....all I can remember is that it had the word "Benedict", but instead of Hollandaise sauce, it used sausage gravy. Basically, it's an open faced biscuit with sliced ham, covered in sausage gravy, and served with a side of home fries. Yummy! I honestly wish I'd been able to go back for lunch, but my schedule didn't allow it. But if I find myself in the area again, I definitely know where I'll be stopping!

It's like a Cracker Barrell, only authentic! Small and cozy, with decent food and super-friendly service.

The place was busy (as to be expected on a Saturday night) but they were well staffed. Service was excellent! I wish I could remember our server's name. She was very attentive and had no problem keeping up with my boyfriend drinking gallons of tea. I tried it, I can see why, they have really good sweet tea!! I had the BEST Hefeweizen and we started with an order of calamari to share which was cooked perfectly. It was served with some sort of mayo-based sauce which I don't like, so I asked the server if they had cocktail sauce. "We don't.....but I think I can make you some!" She came back a few minutes later with a cup of cocktail sauce they whipped up for me!!! For entrees, he ordered the filet. It was a beautiful cut of steak, tender, and cooked perfectly. I was craving fish n chips but my friend had demanded I try the jagerschnitzel....so I ordered both lol. I'm going to have leftovers for days and I'm not mad about it!! Both meals were incredible and very generous portions. Fish was perfectly crispy and the gravy on the jagerschnitzel....mmm....I don't even have words! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming with a variety of seating options. I tend to have anxiety in crowded spaces but I was perfectly comfortable here. Overall we had an incredible experience and can't wait to go back! This was one of the best meals we've had in a long time!
