Crab stuffed shrimp still had shells on them and extremely salty. Salmon Oscar was served with the crab and Oscar stuffing on top of the salmon skin. The center of the salmon was not cooked. The tiramisu was DRY!!! New cook and ownership is not working. This had been my go to restaurant more than six years, not anymore. read more

The food here is super delicious. We came here for brunch, my wife got the hanger steak and I got the shrimp and grits. The steak was super tender and well seasoned. The shrimp and grips was awesome and I asked if I could add jumbo crab meat for an extra charge and that kicked it up a notch. It was fairly quiet and was expecting it to be more busier but surprised it wasn't. Next time I'm back this way, I have to come to try their dinner menu. read more

Management is clearly not fit to serve in the hospitality business. We were raving fans, but we will not be back. They charged us $27 for a glass of Sangria and the manager argued with us, the customer, when we raised the concern. The food was okay, but nothing super special and the service was absolutely terrible. Multiple waiters and bussers passed our table while we had several big plates that were empty and in the way yet none of them asked to take them. We waited 15-20 minutes just for someone to ask if we wanted drinks refilled even though they were crawling with idle workers. When the food came out, the crab meat was on top of the salmon skin and upside down so the skin was facing up and I had to take the crab meat off of the salmon to peel the skin. The mushroom ravioli was drowning in sauce and half of the spinach in the spinach and apple salad was soggy. Indoors it was loud and hard to hear any of our conversations. Very underseasoned fillets and overcooked short rib bolognese. also, I'm pretty sure white wine mussles should not look like they are sitting in a bowl of milk. The service was terrible when it came to seating. The hostesses were just absolutely immature and uninviting. I made a reservation at 6:15 for four people, and I had meant to do five. So that was an honest mistake. They treated us like we were a complete inconvenience. There was not that many people there when we arrived. Even by the time we left there still wasn't a full house. The vibe was off just because of the food and service. I will say our server Trevor was probably the only person that didn't make the experience 100% terrible. We had an incredible dinner here on our pre-valentines getaway. We were able to get a table downstairs immediately on a rainy Friday night, and the setting was so cozy and inviting! The bartender was our server and although the bar was busy, we were frequently checked on and never wanted for anything. We had the chicken sandwich with fries and the pumpkin ravioli - both of which were SO amazing. I've been dreaming of those raviolis since! The bartender noticed I was super slow sipping my drink and offered to make me something different - I apparently am not a fan of mezcal, haha. I hate being that person and was content to suck it up and just get through it, but the sentiment was very much appreciated! The old fashioned I had to replace it was incredible as well. The service matched the food- pure excellence. We went on a Saturday and lunch- not a long wait at all. The food quality and quality was excellent. Fresh ingredients prepared by a well trained staff. Presentation was equally impressive. Servers very attentive. The one place I would grade below a 9 of 10 are the potatoes served as the brunch side with all meals. For breakfast potatoes, they get a 8 of 10. The problem is when it's served with meals that are 9-10 of 10, it devalues the dish somewhat. First time here and will definitely be back. Love the outside, looks like an inn. Inside is bigger than it looks, several rooms plus the Pub downstairs. Service was outstanding, thanks Kandyce. We were in no hurry and not being rushed was great. I had the pork chops that were truly outstanding, flavorful smokey taste. Save room for dessert, priced right at $10 each, I had really good apple strudel. They still owe me bread, which was supposed to be coming soon out of the oven. Although the atmosphere at this restaurant was nice the service was really lacking. Our server came back to the table multiple times to ask again what we ordered. We waited 45 minutes for our drinks because "they were washing the glasses". My friend ordered a salad with a New York strip and the server charged her for a filet. The salad ended up costing $40 for a very small side salad. Another friend ordered a martini and was charged $3.00 for olives when she was told there was no charge. In addition, we were told that one of the entrees could not be adjusted and the server did not ask the chef if this could be accommodated. Happy hour used to be good and a bargain. No more. The drinks menu is confusing and deceptive, and we basically ended up paying non-happy hour prices for a Manhattan and a martini. Thanks to new glassware, my Manhattan was about four sips of mostly sweet vermouth. The small cheese plate showed zero care. Presented on a sandwich plate it consisted of a half-dozen cubes of undistinguished cheese, three cornichons of about an inch in length, a tablespoon of marinated cherries and three chunks of bread, all garnished with a few bean sprouts. It was not good and ugly, to boot. In the past, both drinks and cheese plate were very generous and well presented. Such shrink-flation and lack of care mean we won't be going back. read more

The couple behind us was sat at a table, then moved to the patio, their server was his sister and she sat him and his female companion on the patio. When my husband complained we were told they would only be there 30 minutes. Not true, another couple joined them. They bartended knew how wrong this was and had our appetizers paid for, even though it was unnecessary, but appreciated. He also said he would be speaking to management. I'll start by saying I write very few negative reviews bc I don't want to damage peoples businesses. And I've tried to support this place through all the ups and downs over the years but tonight was so particularly awful I'm not sure we can go back. Ever. I ordered a steak medium rare and it came out beyond well done. Normally people check to make sure your meal is ok. I had to find my own waiter in the restaurant. Every single item ordered was severely overcooked. My replacement meal also borderline inedible. None of us ate more than half our meals and it never occurred to anyone to ask. We had to go to the bar for a round of drinks. Knowing how badly they screwed up at least the steak - no one ever said sorry. When I got the bill, they tried to charge me for it. When I questioned it, they acted like they did me a favor by not charging me for a well done steak that was ordered to be medium rare. When you charge $40 for each entree, you have to actually have passable food and service. The manager who knew what was going on chose to not even speak when she dropped off the full priced bill. A normal restaurant that considered itself fine dining would have been mortified at the quality of meal served, apologized and at least offered something - a dessert. We've been regulars for 6 years, since we moved here. This place needs a chef and an adult manager that can handle and address when mistakes are made professionally. We weren't looking for a free meal. But wow, to screw up that bad and treat loyal customers this way.....best of luck to you. read more

What a nice hidden gem that backs up to a golf course. Food was excellent, service was excellent and atmosphere lovely. Bonus points for their alcohol selection too! They met my covid expectations with cleanliness, staff wearing masks and tables indoor and outdoors, distanced. We came for brunch: *chef's cheese selection- great to share, it was perfect! The bread was so light and fresh, the accompaniments (mustard, pickled onions, dates) actually brought it up a notch. *ice cream battered French toast... delicious but filling. Share it so you can try other options on the menu too. *pork belly hash & eggs- tasty but it's kinda hard to mess a bunch of delicious items and putting it together... so it's a solid choice :) Dessert... yes we actually had enough room for dessert! After spending most of the day at a nearby vineyard, we showed up here hungry but not thirsty, so we passed on their extensive Drinks Menu. Had to try the Pumpkin Humus which was tasty but the toasted bits that came with it were hard and crunchy, breaking apart into hundreds of smaller pieces with every bite. I was tempted to go to my car to get the crackers left uneaten from our earlier picnic. The butternut squash soap was delicious. The fried chicken sandwich and fries were good. My date had a simple salad but said her side order of cornbread was the best she ever had. And she bakes her own. Service was great. Unlike most restaurants, this one seemed to have plenty of help. Really disappointed in the food. The risotto was just ok--rice was undercooked, Brussels spouts could have benefitted from a few more minutes of cooking. It tasted flat-needed acid and some sort of spice. The scallops were super salty. My husband had the special, which was NY strip with potatoes and asparagus. That was fine. Nothing to write home about. The absolute worst was the dessert our waiter recommended. A "deconstructed cheesecake". It was, and I am in no way exaggerating when I say this, a literal SCOOP OF CREAM CHEESE with raspberry purée and a scoop of ice cream. I told them they shouldn't be serving that to people. It was absolutely awful. Thankfully, they took that off the bill. Also, the room they sat us in had a hole cut out of the wall for the water valve. Not exactly what I have in mind when I think of fine dining. I should have known it was not going to be good when I ordered a bottle of wine and the waiter brought it out already opened, didn't offer me a taste, and poured my husband a glass first after I was the one who ordered the bottle. Our waiter was a nice kid doing his best, but he can't fix the food. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for an edible meal. Well I'm sorry to say that valentine's Dinner tonight was probably in the bottom 5 of all our dining experiences. And it's not because of the food. The Short Ribs were tasty. The scallops quite nice (although the Brussels sprouts were raw). It's everything else. Granted it was a 'holiday evening' but YIKES. The evening starts out fine -- we had 7:30 reservations and knew that when we came 45 minutes early. We often do this but then just go and have a drink or two at the bar. There was no room at the bar BUT we were accommodated in just a few minutes at a table. Great start. My wife didn't have a great day at the office and was looking forward to a nice dinner. The pace at the start was slow. It's a holiday night and we get that. We ordered the special drinks and they finally came after maybe 15-20 minutes. My expresso Manhattan was TASTY. My wife's special concoction was OK according to her. THEN the order was taken. The order include a bottle of wine to bring with the appetizer. 10-15 minutes later our waiter tells us that the special is no longer available. I get it. Holiday night -- things run out. My wife orders the scallops. 10-15 minutes later my appetizer comes ALONG WITH my short ribs. No bread. No wine. No entree for my wife. So I start into the appetizer --- very tasty by the way -- mussels with lemon grass and wine sauce. Thank heaven it came with bread because, still no bread. (We did ask earlier but do you HAVE to ask for bread?) I took a couple of bites of the short ribs (yum) but waited until my wife's entree arrived. Finally the scallops arrive. Still no bread. Still no wine. About 1/2-3/4 way through our entrees we decide to cancel the wine. I get up....repeat....I get up and go to the bar to get a couple glasses of wine. The bartender is accommodating and I bring two glasses back to the table. 'We are out of your bottle of wine' I am then told. YIKES. The owner did comp us the appetizer and the 2 glasses of wine - thank you. But just wow otherwise. read more

Beware: West End has new owners! Our daughter gave us a $150.00 gift certificate to celebrate our 56th Wedding Anniversary. She purchased the certificate on June 26th. We were graciously seated and immediately greeted by our server, Linda. We ordered appetizers, then our entrees. The Cesar's salad and the shrimp cocktail were great. Our entrees were the Beef rib Bolognese Pasta and the Scallop Rosito Dish. The pasta was way overdone. The Beef was tasteless and had the consistency of mush. I asked for salt and pepper hoping it would improve...it did not. My husband's scallops were good, but the Rosito was way overcooked, and the sauce was the consistency of a paste. The manager asked about the meal, and I said it was overdone. I mentioned it was our first visit, as our daughter had given us a gift certificate. I only ate a few bites of my entree. Our server offered a box to go, I politely refused. We ordered dessert which was fine. Then the owner stopped by to inform us that he would "allow us to use our gift certificate". The ownership of the West End changed hands weeks ago. He blamed "computer issues" for not being able to access the gift cards. WTH...the certificate was purchased two days prior! I let him know I had assumed he was coming over to apologize for my entree. He left without comment. Then Linda informed us that my entree had been taken off the bill. We tipped Linda based on the total it would have been along with the balance on the gift card...about $13.00. When leaving my husband noticed a conversation between the manager and our server about our gift certificate. The manager told him that a gift certificate balance could not be used for a tip. My husband took out a bill and handed it to Linda to make up for the loss. Had my husband not seen the exchange, our server would have been out that money and the owners would have kept the difference. The new owner's attitude was surprisingly cold. read more

Absolute gem of a local restaurant in Purcellville. We have lived in the area for three years and finally made it here for dinner. Now we're bummed we waited so long! The ambiance is great... relaxed and low key, yet the potential for a special night out if you are so inclined. The staff was friendly and attentive. And the food was terrific! We had the Pork Belly Tostadas as an appetizer and they were delightful! Next time I may just get two orders as my meal, that's how good they were! For our mains, we had the Pan Seared Scallop Risotto and the Tri-Tip. Both were excellent with generous portions. The prices may seem a bit high but you really feel like you are getting your money's worth. We will definitely be back!
