Tammy's is the best place to get a real breakfast or lunch! She's friendly, fast and efficient. Just a great lady. Old school, genuine, nice. (Not surly or grumpy). The place is clean and well kept. Food is great. Bacon crisp and they have blueberry pancakes! (Huge. I just get one) So today I had properly cooked eggs for the first time in my life. When asked how I wanted my eggs. I said medium. Then said hard. Then said I don't know. She laughed. I said I don't want them to squirt. She hurried off and said you want medium well. I could have cried. Many decades of waiting for perfect eggs. I can't cook them right at home either. What's a perfect fried egg? It is still orange not yellow. The community loves this place! It's to the left of the gas station. If you need restroom, go to gas station and get the key. Free parking lot in front and behind the diner. Two ladies worked the whole diner. All seats will fill, so if you are sitting by yourself at a table, they will fill seats across and next to you. Breakfast was solid and prices so reasonable. Basic coffee. It takes a long time to get anything from the server as they're so busy. Overall, happy to support a local favorite. read more

Small little dinner with amazing food. Would've taken a photo but I ate it so quickly lol. I'm a Jersey boy who misses that home diner experience and I might've found it. The people are nice and friendly little southern folk. Service was very quick and easy. I walked in and ordered a sausage, egg and cheese sandwich and a coffee and it felt like my mom's made it. Only down side would be the parking size but they have parking in the back. 10/10 would recommend and definitely will have another one of those here in a bit haha. read more

Cheryl B. and Bill B. told me about their local diner - and I vowed to one day go out and experience it - since I am a slut for diners in general. The original plan was to some time meet Cheryl and Bill there for breakfast - but they had out of town guests this weekend - so I was on my own. I pulled in this morning about 9:15 am with a steady rain pitter-pattering down on the quiet little village of Round Hill. The name of the joint is "Tammy's Diner," although at some point in the past it was called "Round Hill Diner." (I've submitted an update request for the business listing to Yelp). I walked in - the place was hopping - it's not a big space - there was one open table and I snagged it. As I looked around, lots of older folks - grey hairs, retirees, and everyone seemed to me to be chatting up a storm and having a good time. It was evident as people came and went that a lot of folks in this sleepy little community know each other - which is pretty cool. It took a few minutes for my server to come over as she was sprinting about the place - taking orders, slinging out dishes of hot food and coffee, and so on. I was really hungry - so I ordered the Sausage Gravy and Biscuits - and two eggs over easy with Corned Beef Hash. What I didn't realize is that the eggs and hash also came with hash browns and toast! About 10 minutes later the food came out - nice and hot - as hot as I can ever recall diner food being - which I liked and took note of. I tasted the Sausage Gravy first - good sausage flavor and a nice thick consistency. I added the mandatory black pepper and hot sauce to the gravy, and a bit of black pepper to the eggs and corned beef hash and a bit of salt to the eggs and hash browns. Everything was delicious! Good solid diner food! Makes me want to try everything else: Bacon, Sausage, Pancakes, and so on! When I went to pay, I asked the lady who was my server if she was Tammy. She replied that she was. I told her the food was very good and thanked her. The entire meal - which was a lot of food (I basically ordered two breakfasts - was $8.00). I tipped her $2.00 and was on my way. The one thing I am dinging Tammy's Diner on - is the smoking. When I walked in - I could smell the stale dull smell of cigarette smoke. Sitting in the back against the wall was a table of locals - drinking coffee and smoking. I watched this one older guy sitting next to the wall - I am guessing he smoked 5 cigarettes while I was there. Blech! Fortunately, I did not have anyone right next to me smoking - I probably would have left without ordering if that had been the case. Cash only - no credit cards. read more

Traditional small town diner. Cash only. Staff is hard working, if not kind. The large help-needed sign is probably a reason for that. I took my young son in for a quick bite. He ordered a hot dog, I ordered eggs over medium and hash--the place was not overly busy. It took a little over 45 minutes to get food; meanwhile, a local came in, ordered a full breakfast, ate, paid, and left before we were served. That cost a star here, as it was obvious and rude/unprofessional. Still, the food was good for what it was, seasoned well, and served hot. The staff was not very friendly, but again, hard-working. I likely will not be back, but I'm happy to have tried it. This place is worth a visit for the environment and feel of a classic, American diner. I recently started working in Round Hill so my daughter and I stopped in to Tammy's Diner on our way to visit our clients. We felt extremely unwelcome from the first second we walked in. Only two other patrons were in the diner and the two women working (one presumably the owner) did not say hello or acknowledge our entering. After we sat down the owner brought us a menu and I looked it over. She walked back and didn't say a word, just stood there with the ordering pad on the table. It was just an odd atmosphere and vibe. I thought initially it was an off day for the women or maybe there was something about my daughter and I that just didn't jive with them. But now I think only locals / "regulars" are welcome, because every other patron was given a warm welcome (two older gentlemen came in after us and two additional women; all given a greeting). Believe it or not we live within walking distance of the Round Hill Diner, now known as Tammy's Diner with a recent ownership change. Round Hill is somewhat a sleepy little town in Western Loudoun containing a couple of medical practices, an insurance agency, a caterer, fire department, 2 homegrown convenience stores, a gas station, an arts center (with monthly bluegrass get togethers) and Tammy's diner. Of course there is at a minimum one antique shop but it measures about 300 square feet and is open at oddball times to the public. OH, and there are NO stoplights! But back to the Diner....we ate breakfast there this morning (first time in a very long time)...usual suspects of locals. Coffee, eggs, pancakes, typical breakfast fare but at least you can get grits and scrapple here!! I have to say it is not my favorite place to go and I guess in the almost 3 years we've lived in the town our visits could only be counted on one hand. Nothing special stands out from a food experience for me, go in/order/leave. It is however a small remembrance of Americana gone by. No Starbucksesque or IHOPmania to be found. Any customer is welcome to grab the coffee pot to fill their cup....but then they find themselves meandering around filling others making a lap around this tiny restaurant...and do it with a smile on their face! Ambiance, eh...novelty, ok....quality of food, standard. I'm sure it would be a change for those who only "do brunch in town" and it would probably remind them of that scene in Baby Boom (setting in rural Vermont) where the visiting city goers ooh and aahh over the "country babies" sitting on their pop-pop's lap. Yep, we bring our "city visitors" there so they can have the experience....usually as a follow up to a night in "town" and no one wants to cook or drag themselves to the coffee maker, and the fresh air helps clear the fog during the walk up to the restaurant. Beats mcdonalds but again - truck stop like vibe but you won't get sick and the food is tolerable. A few more points to consider : bathroom is the gas station next door! Kinda gross. Generally just OK. Breakfast for two (with one OJ) was under $20 which is good by me. Was a busy Sunday however we were seated and had our drink orders taken promptly by a friendly face. Didn't wait long before someone (second person) came by to take our order. Third person brought our food + check at the same time. No one stopped back to ask how things were, and that's probably my biggest gripe. Corned beef and hash was great - however was disappointing to see a pre-formed breakfast sausage patty (this part of the country it's not unusual to find hand-formed patties from fresh local loose sausage). Small diner in Round Hill VA. DOWN HOME COOKING FROM SCRATCH! Had the bacon cheeseburger with REAL red tomato slice, not that pink hothouse tomato slice you get everywhere else. This is a really, really inexpensive little diner in a small town outside of DC, sort of on the way to Harper's Ferry. It sort of reminds me of those small town diners you see candidates visiting on cable news...very typical small-town. The prices can't be beat: perhaps I've been living in big cities for too long, but I almost fainted when I saw the menu and how cheap everything is. The food is pretty standard for breakfast: eggs, toast, pancakes, waffles, and the like. The quality is "typical diner": not the best breakfast I've ever had, but certainly not the worst either. The "scrapple," which is a sort of pork sausage patty cake a bit like spam was just ok; it's worth a try since it's a local specialty, but don't expect a lot from it either. They are cash only, but our bill came in well under $20, so that shouldn't be a problem. They serve breakfast until 2pm most days; this is something that's hard to find in this area (most places stop serving at 11am). Service was a tad slow, and parking was a bit hard (the spaces out front were all full when we got there). Also, the only bathrooms are at the gas station next door. Although they take only cash, you won't need much to order from their menu. We went there for lunch today and had a great time and it brought so many memories back for me and my wife. FAIL! Oh yelp you have failed so miserably this time. We read the good ratings and gave it a try. We were looking for a greasy spoon and all we found was a greasy mess. The food took over 40 minutes to arrive, both my waffle and the corned beef hash were burnt, and although a rating said your coffee cup would never go dry it did just that waiting so long for the food. I'd like to say that friendly service could save this place, but that did really not happen either. I guess if you are a regular you enjoy this place, but I'm wondering how you ever get to be a regular with experiences like this. I wish we would have gone to Coney Island diner in Purcellville instead of trying a new place. We will not be back. read more

As the Duke of Tammy's Diner I go here every chance I get. Eggs cooked perfectly, hash browns, SCRAPPLE, toast and decent coffee in mugs they got for free. Kids love the pancakes and the blueberry ones tempt even me and not I am not a pancake person. It's a total dive but the staff is friendly and it's cheap and good - what more could you want in the breakfast desert of Upper Loudoun County. Not bad but not great. Had a plate of French toast, a fried egg, and a bowl of grits. I ordered bacon as well but the waitress rather forgot or they were out and she just didn't tell me. But I didn't give her crap about it because it was busy and I could tell she had a lot on her mind. Anyway, the grits were okay, egg cooked right, French toast was decent too. Nothing to write home about. A couple of warnings: they only take cash and checks, no credit or debit cards. Plus there is very limited stealing and it fills up quickly on weekends. First time visiting Tammys for breakfast. Food was Ok but pretty bland. Price is reasonable $15 for two breakfast s. Not worth the drive from Charles Town. Service was pleasant but slow. Tammy appears to do a lot of local business. Many of the customers got their own coffee and washed their own dishes. Definitely a locals hang out. The restaurant is small with limited seating and it was very crowded. The food proportions are reasonable for the price charged. For my own opinion I have no reason to go back to Tammy's for breakfast in the future since there are better places closer to home for me to eat. read more

I really enjoy going to Tammy's, the food is excellent, the staff are busy but friendly, and every time I leave I feel like I should be paying more (so I tend to tip big to make up the difference). If you are tired of the same crappy re-heated Sysco truck food, then stop by for some really good food. For southern boys like me, it is one of the few places where you can get grits that do not taste awful. I really like their biscuits and gravy and the hash and eggs. I visit Tammy's place with my family a few times every month on the weekends. I have never left hungry or disappointed in any way. read more
