The pizza here is some of the worst I've ever had. Way too much cheese. Way too little pepperoni, and they cook it too fast so it's greasy hell. Way too expensive for terrible pizza. read more

Under new management, with reduced offerings. We've been here previously, and the food was always a bit overpriced but fine -- the tacos in particular were pretty decent. However, under the new owners, the hours have been cut back (no breakfast) and Pine Tent appears to only offer a few pizzas and boxed salads. Just a warning if you were planning to stay at Costanoa and "just wing it" with the onsite food options, like we have done in the past. The mushroom pizza was so so (decent crust but the mushroom part had a weird off flavor, and was otherwise bland), the California Greek salad was fine but small for $17. The location is still nice (next to a playground, with fun activities like trivia for adults). It's just a very minimal menu of ho hum items. The new website says the owners plan to invite outside food trucks in the future, but for the time being the options feel surprisingly limited. read more

Dropped in for a lunch on our way to for a hike with a dog. Mixed feelings about the place. The casual and dog friendly atmosphere was what we were looking for. It's clean and friendly. You can eat "inside" which is basically an outdoor deck, or on some picnic benches in a campground common area with corn holes, giant connect four and giant jenga. A decent selection of draft beer for $8. The pizzas were larger than I expected but thats only bc I'm used to SF food truck prices. Toppings were good. The "sausage" pizza (which was more of a big combo) was overloaded--the middle of the pizza got soggy and didn't exactly cook well. The cheese and pepperoni pizzas fared better. The tacos were a bit underwhelming. I guess I didn't expect the menu description to be so precise... in how meager they were...... $16 for 6 shrimp with some sprinklings of toppings was a little rough. And if the artichoke tacos weren't naked enough... if they had pico de gallo (as described in the menu), they either forgot or it's invisible. $3 Strauss soft serve was a nice find in the area that otherwise lacks ice cream shops. In the future, I guess we would drop in for an easy pizza, beer and soft serve. I would say it fills a niche but otherwise is skippable. read more

Pine & Tent is located inside the Costanoa campgrounds. Great option for food and drinks for those staying at Costanoa. The beauty of glamping at Costanoa was having the option to pop in and out of Pine and Tent for coffee and breakfast before heading out for our hikes or trek to the beach, and also coming back here for food once we returned hungry and tired from our hikes. This place was the casual spot for food and drinks compared to the other Cascade restaurant at Costanoa. They also have a small bar so they have mixed drinks, beer, and wine. Although this was the casual option, prices were still pretty moderate but we expected that since it's food for glampers. Food I had from here during my weekend stay: - Big and Little Basin Burritos. These were delicious breakfast burritos containing eggs, bacon, and potatoes. They're actually the same size although the names are big/little. I learned that the difference is actually the spice levels, the big basin will additionally have bell peppers and other ingredients whereas the little basin burrito is simplified in ingredients and doesn't have spice. - Avocado, arugula, and zucchini biscuit sandwich. I had this for breakfast before a hike and it was delicious and a lighter option compared to the breakfast burritos. - Spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs were good but unfortunately my pasta noodles were a bit harder than I would have liked. Taste overall was good and I liked the sauce, just the pasta seemed undercooked. - Caesar salad. Simple and standard. The way they cut the romaine lettuce vertically was interesting. - BBQ chicken pizza. This was pretty good and it came out piping hot. - pretzel with cheese. Pretzel was a lot bigger than I expected and this was a nice filling appetizer. - my partner also had the chicken sandwich and enjoyed that as well. I saw several kids enjoying cut up fruit and soft serve icecream cones that looked super good. read more

Sauce tasted more like a crushed tomato pasta sauce than pizza but was fine. 3 stars Lowlights: - Caprese artichoke purée sandwich: was excited about the concept especially in artichoke land. Unfortunate it tasted extremely bitter and wouldn't determine if that was coming from the arugula, mozzarella, or the artichoke but was very odd and off putting. 2 stars - I heard raves about the breakfast burrito but we never made it there in time for breakfast. Wow... is all I can say. What a difference in food and quality since the last time we visited. After a great day mountain biking at Wilder Ranch on Saturday we decided to drive up the coast to Costanoa and grab lunch and a beer at Pine tent. The food was amazing, we had the barbecue chicken pizza and the Margarita Pizza. The Bbq chicken wouldn't have been my first choice but my sister really wanted to try it. We were so pleased with how delicious the crust was and the padrone peppers were flavorful. The margarita pizza could stand with the best in the Bay Area. We also had the meatballs which were amazing and those garlic knots were so good. A real improvement in food quality from last visit. The pizza tasted fresh and the beer selection was amazing. We are planing to come back in August, hopefully the live music will be back. read more

Great pizza at this campground store. Also has lots of drinks, soft serve i e cream. Get it to go and carry it back to your site or sit at one of the many open tables. Live music on the Sat afternoon that we were here. Fun time. read more

The food is on the pricy side, but it's well worth it when you consider that the two alternatives are (a) to bring your own food and barbecue it, which can be much better but which is also a lot of work, especially if you're staying longer than two days; or (b) to drive miles and miles and miles for cheaper food--which won't save you anything because you will have spent all that bargain-hunting money on gas. The menu is small, but everything I had was good. For lunch and dinner, you get your choice of two sides. All four side options are homemade, fresh, and delicious. The coleslaw was my favorite, but both my parents liked the baked beans, and my mom normally hates baked beans. I didn't have breakfast here, but the breakfast burritos looked good, and my sources tell me that the regular pancakes and blueberry pancakes are good. The buckwheat pancakes? Not so much, but then buckwheat is an acquired taste. The workers are very friendly and accommodating. The portions are large, but the hours are short. They're open on Fridays (dinner only), Saturdays (all day), and Sundays (breakfast only)--and that's only through October and if it's not raining. read more

Just to be clear, this is a campground BBQ place. My husband and I were looking for somewhere to eat as we passed through the area, and there are very few options (I'm honestly surprised it shows up on the map). The food here is typical of a place that serves a captive audience: extremely overpriced, passably edible and underwhelming ($20 for a hotdog and corn on the cob, for example). Avoid this spot unless you are desperate or staying at the Costanoa campgrounds and do not have any other food. read more
