For some reason I was expecting more from this place. Walked in and it seemed like an old Dennys/ Diner. Nothing exciting but it was clean. The server seemed nice enough and seemed like she was really trying. She might have been new because every question I asked she had to go back to the cook to ask. I asked her if I could substitute the toast and potatoes with either eggs or bacon and she goes back to ask then returns and says yes we can give you just the steak and bacon. I told her I still wanted the eggs so she goes back to ask again and returns adding we will have to charge you as a side of we do that. I told her to leave it as is because she was getting more confused with each question. I ordered the special steak and eggs and she asked me what kind of steak. I told her whatever steak came with the breakfast. She seemed very confused. When the food came out was quite subpar. It wasn't awful but it wasn't great by any means. The toast was hard and the steak flavorless nothing special about it. I would probably not pick this place to eat at if you have other options in the area. The bill for 2 adults came out to $70 with tip. 2 steak and egg breakfasts, 1 kids grilled cheese, and 2 coffees. Definitely not worth the price tag. The one positive part was the girl that was responsible for refilling our drinks and coffee was on point. She made sure our cups never got half way. She kept them full even after our meal.

We stopped in here with some friends while visiting the half moon bay area. The reason our friends picked this particular restaurant was for its family friendliness with their toddler and that is the only reason we came here. The highlight of our experience was our waitress who was joyful and friendly. Everything else was downhill. The restaurant itself stank and the bathrooms smelled like sewage. The kitchen was a mess and the menu was so massive, there's no way you can maintain quality with a menu that huge. I ordered the green salad which was terrible but there was really not a whole lot I could find for a vegetarian that wasn't otherwise probably coming out of a bag and reheated. Hubby ordered the French dip and it was massive, soggy and terrible. Our friends ordered the Spanish sausage omelette with side pancake, eggs Benedict and kids Mac and cheese, all which looked very pasty and bland. Overall the portions were enormous. The quality was very low, and I was really surprised at the prices for such low quality food. Our server however was lovely and they get an extra star for her because she was attentive and really hard working. Otherwise it was a solid one star experience with definitely one star food. Would not return if in the area again.

Half Moon Bay is a beautiful place to visit but the average cost of dinning has gone up significantly recently. This location is a little ways done from the main tourist area but is worth a visit especially if you like the old fashioned "Dinner Experience". Lots of open space filled with Large cushioned booth's so you can sit comfortably enjoying the large window views. Food is good but overpriced, however the service makes up for that. If you're a beer drinker you'll get a little more if you go with Tap rather than bottled. Few things: -Kids portion are large and come extremely hot in temp -Water tastes like Tap (perhaps go for bottled). -Beer on Tap kinda has a funny taste bottled beer taste old -appetizer's are lacking in options -For dessert a number of pies and ice cream options. I had a cheesecake 3/5. Over all good service and restrooms are clean.

service was great chef doesn't know how to cook over medium eggs- cut in and a huge puddle of uncooked egg whites all over my (small) serving of hash browns and cut up sausage- yuck!! I blotted up most of it by the time our server spotted me and asked if I wanted them to cook them more- by then half my egg was on my napkin- so no point. I had almost ordered the omelette- should have! I was a little surprised to see they charge an extra $2 to have mushrooms in your Joes special- as far as I know that's a standard ingredient.

Had another great meal this Saturday morning. I ordered the Special Steak and Eggs, with french fries, the Belgian waffle, and the girlfriend had the sausage Benedict. Great service, and good food, you can't go wrong.

Curious about what the new/old place is like, our three-person family went there for a late breakfast today. Walking up to the front doors, the original inset stained glass remains. Walking in, the cool wood paneling and nautical decor remains in place with a couple of new touches. The fully appointed bar also remains, now with a more streamlined look with subtle lighting changes. We were greeted pleasantly and seated inside the dining room immediately; it was moderately busy and buzzing, not too loud. Our server was quick to our table, menu-knowledgeable and consistent in his attention to us. We had a Denver omelette, a couple of bennies and lemon ricotta pancakes to share. My omelette had particularly fresh and al fresca peppers and onions - wonderful. The lemon ricotta pancakes were sufficiently saturated and fluffy(hard to pull off)and came with fresh cream. The prices were at about the same level as the local competition, which pleasantly surprised us. It appears that the folks who did this breakfast/lunch reboot were shrewd in pricing their dishes. Jetty Wave, a drinks and appetizers adventure(which I heartily recommend as well for different reasons)in the northwestern part of Princeton, is not for the fiscally faint hearted. The only element that makes our experience short of a 5 is that we were not given a farewell when we left, though I was able to find our friendly server and thanked him. In all, the Joanne's legacy is intact - the old carved wood Ketch Joanne sign still hangs inside - literally and figuratively a homage to its legacy while bringing a new energy to this space. Recommended.

We stopped by for lunch on a crisp day, and it completely captured that perfect coastal vibe--think fresh seafood, laid-back atmosphere, and killer views of the boats and water. We started with the calamari, which was hands-down some of the best I've ever had: tender, not rubbery at all, perfectly seasoned and fried, melting in your mouth. The New England-style clam chowder was rich, creamy, with just the right subtle smokiness and balanced seasoning--definitely lives up to Half Moon Bay's chowder reputation. For mains, the Dungeness crab sandwich was the star: generous lumps of sweet local crab, minimal sauce (just how I like it), on toasted sourdough with fries on the side. My partner went with the fish and chips, and the cod was crispy, flaky, and not greasy at all--classic done right. The outdoor patio with fire pits was cozy even in cooler weather, and our server was super friendly, attentive, and full of local recommendations. The place feels welcoming, whether you're a regular from the Coastside or just passing through after a beach walk or harbor stroll. Prices are fair for the fresh, quality ingredients and location--definitely worth it. We've already added it to our list for the next trip to Half Moon Bay. Highly recommend if you're craving solid seafood in a charming harborside setting! 5/5 stars.

Great experience overall…read more The hubs and I stopped here for lunch on Friday and there was no line so that's a good start for us because we were hungry! We both ordered the mushroom sandwich and shared the red lentils soup. I really wanted to try their house made chips but they were sold out.. by 1:40pm, must be good.. bummer for us. Oh well, we proceeded with our order without them. Our food came out fairly quickly and we sat inside since it was bit windy and cold outside. The mushroom sandwich was tasty, hearty and refreshing with the lettuce and red pickled onions. The pickled onions was a great touch, it added a crunch and it was lightly pickled so not super tart or overwhelming. I honestly didn't miss not having meat in my sandwich, the texture and flavors of the mushroom really gave off a similar feel. My favorite was the red lentil soup. It was very tasty, plenty of different layers of flavors and textures with each scoop. I didn't think I would like raisins in a red lentil soup but it was a very yummy surprise! We'll definitely be back to try the hamburger, their soup of the day and the housemade chips!!

The line wasn't too long when we visited, but the wait for food was about 15-20 minutes. We ended up taking a stroll around the plaza while waiting, which helped pass the time. As for the sandwich, it was okay. I was excited to try it because of all the hype, but honestly, it felt pretty basic and nothing particularly spectacular. It was a solid sandwich and made for a good snack, but it wasn't something that really stood out to me.

You are allowed to order two items at a time during the 90 minute brunch portion. You then have 30 minutes for the dessert items, though the waiter did say we could order more brunch items during that time too. I maxed out during round 5. Round 1: The MARIN COUNTY CHEESE TASTING and the PAN SEARED SCALLOP. There were three types of cheese on the plate with some fig jam and some raisin bread. Everything was super tasty. Loved the fig jam. The scallop was very nicely cooked. Loved the truffle foam. It was supposedly polenta foam but it was very smooth and not grainy at all. Round 2: CAVATELLI and CHOCOLATE CHIP PANCAKES. I think the pasta was my favorite meal of the day. It had a great truffle and parmesan flavor. Soft pasta. Yum. The pancakes were also delicious. Nice and fluffy with melted chocolate chips. I did hold the ricotta cream from it as I know I don't like it. Round 3: LOBSTER ROLL and WAGYU BEEF SLIDER. The lobster roll was tasty but messy. I don't like caviar so I had that held. The slider was very tasty. The sauce on it was a bit too BBQ-sauce flavor for me but overall not a bad bite. Round 4: I did the ORGANIC MAITAKE MUSHROOM and another scallop. The mushrooms were super flavorful. Loved the crispy rice puffs on them. Round 5: I just did on plate - the BELGIAN WAFFLES. I loved the waffles. Crispy outside, soft inside. Warm apples on top and a big dollop of whipped cream. Yum! Dessert: There were carrot cakes, coconut macaroons, strawberry shortcakes and a chocolate pistachio balls. I only add the carrot cake there and took the rest home for later. The staff was very good. Always taking away empty plates and refilling drinks and water. A splurge of a meal but worth it for good food and service.

At almost $200 pp, we went in wanting to make sure we could order as much as we could during the time limit of the unlimited brunch. However, we didn't have to worry - the service was so fast, that by the end we were well stuffed that the time restraint was moot. Each person can order 2 dishes at a time, and we had the chance to cover everything we wanted to try off the menu and order our favorites multiple times. Some highlights were definitely the scallop and lamb (even as non-lamb lover). The salad also surprisingly stood out, it was really great to eat this paired with the seafood/meats especially towards the end of the meal. I also really enjoyed trying the different caviars, and always love a solid wagyu slider. Only wished they had cornichons to pair with the slider, but appreciate that the staff tried to find pickles for us in the kitchen. The meal ended with a afternoon tea tower of pastries, which we were at that point way too stuffed to take in. The one pastry I tried though, was really delicious, not too sweet. All in all, 10/10 experience. The cherry on top was the complimentary champagne for our celebration! Truly a splendid experience.
