First time here - came with the bf and mom. Feel free to park in the back behind the Tarzana Treatment Medical Center. The food was okay...just okay. We all ordered the AYCE ($13.95 per person Mon-Thurs). For an additional $2, you can order the Korean baked egg (geh-dan) or Korean pancake (pah-jun). We had one order of the egg..... Which was really disappointing. One tip - don't order the egg. I usually love it - but this was probably one of the worst I've ever had .... It looked like there was cheese on it. Turns it it was just water from uncooked egg. (Shudder). Sigh. The AYCE option we got came with marinated chicken, marinated pork, Sam gyup sal (pork belly), and beef. There is also a premium AYCE option that offers more (tongue, brisket, etc). One positive thing was that I liked the variety of people that you see here - the Korean parents (I'm guessing whose kids have gone off to college), the families, and lots of college kids. I liked the diversity. Unfortunately, I'm not sure I'll be back any time soon. Probably would go if I was invited for a group but it's definitely not my first choice for kbbq... If I'm ever too lazy to drive all the way to K-Town, or if my boyfriend doesn't want to drive all the way there, we go here for KBBQ instead. If you compare Pine Tree to other KBBQ places in K-Town, they're obviously not comparable. But I think they are pretty good. Every time we go there, they're always packed and busy. The manager/owner is really nice. It seems like he cares about the business and helps out a lot with serving when it's busy. Their brisket is probably the best! They cut them the perfect size and they're not too fatty. Rice is free if you're a big fan. They have lemonade and Arnold Palmer's for refills, but not the sodas. Overall, they are pretty good. They raised the price again though to $15.95 for weekend nights. read more

I've been craving Korean and wanted to try this place out. I was there on a Friday afternoon so there weren't many customers. Only about 5 tables were filled. They seated me immediately and gave me my water and banchan. The table was clean and the server was friendly. For banchan, really small portions and the taste was just okay. I then ordered Cha Dol Bae Gi / Beef Brisket. It came in a hot sizzling plate, with some onions underneath. A good amount of meat but bland. The food here is just lacking flavor. They seated a few more guests while I was eating and when it was my time to pay, they just ignored me while I was trying to get their attention. I just left the cash and went home. The parking lot is also small. I imagine this place is packed during the weekends since there are only a few AYCE Korean places in the Valley. Not recommended. read more

This place is Awesome! I usually eat kbbq in Koreatown but live in the valley. I didn't feel like driving out to koreatown so we yelped this place. First off service was fantastic. Always refilled water without asking and never had to wait for more plates of meat. They asked many times if we wanted our grill changed, which was nice. Most side dishes are not extra cost like the rice and all the Kim chi options. Only egg cost more, which was worth the extra dollar. Anyway.. To stop rambling about how great this place is.. Lol. I've never heard of an establishment that will turn away your business based on 2 person minimum ayce. They work serve 1 person ayce. As If I would eat more than if I brought a friend? I get that overhead is slightly lower, one gril, the server, etc. But come on. It's a few bucks. Plus, I really doubt you'd lose money on the one person transaction. Love the food, service is always improving especially since the sons took over. For lunch go for the bento's. Came here for dinner last week. The place was very crowded, and we got seated in the back (not the side, but on the other side of the far wall in front of you as you enter). The unfortunate part about this area is that we went easily 10 minutes without ever seeing a waitress even come over to our area, which had 4 tables of people at the time. In general, service was just very slow. By the end, the owner himself was refilling our water because we couldn't get a waitress. And every time one did come, they turned down our fire while we were trying to cook things that take a while (pork belly and chicken). Oh well. The food itself is very good. We got the 15.95 special, and were not let down. I was surprised that the pork belly came pre-cut too. They also gave a little pancake thing with the initial sides, and that was hot, fresh, and delicious. The menu mentions that it includes a steamed egg casserole, but I guess you need to ask for that. They never brought us one, so we asked as we were nearly done and got it, and it was good too. I would give it 5 stars for the food, but I have to deduct one because of slow service. Eating all this meat with no drink refills is kind of annoying. read more

This place has been revamped since the last time I've been here. I haven't been here in years so I honestly don't remember what it looked like before, but I just remember it seemed dirty and outdated. Now it's clean and open. They probably took down some walls or something. The hoods were even newly cleaned. I'm hoping they keep it up. I met up with my parents for lunch here. By the time I got there, my parents already had their food. They chose not to cook themselves and just ordered boxes with already cooked meat and some other side orders. I sat down and I was looking for the little call button that's synonymous with all Korean BBQ places, but after looking for a good 5 minutes, there was none to be found. I was in shock. That was the best part of Korean BBQ places. It allows for attentive service because Lord knows, the wait staff will never attend to you if you don't press that little call button. My theory about the no call button was right on. I was sitting there trying to get the attention of someone so I can at least get a menu, but no one was even looking our way and it's not like the place was busy. There were about 7 tables and two waitresses. I think 1 waitress should've handled our section while the other one handled the other section. So what if there was a larger party in the other section? That doesn't mean BOTH waitresses should wait on them. Usually the wait staff pays attention to the smaller tables because larger parties can entertain themselves. At least that's what I learned from Gordon Ramsey's, Hell's Kitchen or Kitchen Nightmares or whatever. So I gave up flagging down a waitress and decided to eat the food my parents ordered. There was more than enough for all three of us and it was good, but I'm just as critical of service as I am of food. That's why this place gets two stars from me. Parking: Minimal parking in the front lot, but there's parking in the back, which can be accessed from the alley. I am still in denial from the lack of a call button. Tried this place last night with the fam. All you can eat for $20 with a variety of meats to choose from. The meat was delicious but the portion was small so we ordered a lot. The ban chan was good, I personally like the ban chan selection at Fresh better. The service was way better than Fresh. The ladies weren't rude and they were very attentive. My sister in laws knew the guy who worked there from high school and he hooked us up! Very friendly service for an Asian establishment. I'd love to come here again for their service and meat. If their ban chan was the same as Fresh, this place would be my #1 go to spot. 4 stars only for the ban chan, not because it wasn't delicious but because it can be better. read more

We recently dined at Pine Tree over the weekend and found this place okay. The parking lot is a bit small, but we were luck to find one empty spot. There was a long wait ahead of us but I was fortunate enough to call ahead of time and got someone to right our name down at the bottom of the list as we were on our way. We ate so much!!! AYCE places are lethal! You waddle out the door after eating large consumption of meat. The service was okay. I wish they had a call service button as most KBBQ places do. For a while I was looking for someone to walk by our table but with no luck. Finally had to shout to a server to bring something over. read more

This was my first Korean BBQ meal. We got the All-You-Can-Eat with the Angus Beef Brisket, Spicy Marinated Pork, Marinated BBQ Chicken and Berkshire Pork Belly Slices. We left the barbecuing to my son (a regular at Pine Tree) and it all came out great! I liked the pork belly best but the spicy pork was probably the most popular at the table. The pork belly dipped in the oil and salt is delicious and probably 7 kinds of wrong! I also really enjoyed the korean pancakes. The service is very quick. In case you are new to this (like me), you should know that you must finish ALL THE MEAT on the table before requesting more, or (I'm told) you will be charged an extra fee (around $12 I think). So, if you have a picky eater at the table, you also need to have a friendly and hungry eater to snatch those leftovers up! read more

I been to this location several times, it's not a 5 star restaurant either. The menu is the same thing when you go to any KBBQ restaurant. For some reason, the prices seem to be great compare to other locations in the area. The only thing I didn't like when they bring the side portions, there small. How are you supposed to feed 5 people in a table with that? They don't really check up on your table to see if you need more meat. The stove (GRILL) where you cook your food, doesn't really cook fast enough. It seems like I'm not the only yelper who notice this issue. The owners should invest in better ones? My go to Korean BBQ spot in the valley! I like it here! The place is cleaner than most i've seen in the valley. The meat is fresh unlike other places I've been to in the valley and they refill your sides with no problem! All you can eat is the way to go! Their brisket and their marinated pork are my favorites. The staff here are friendly. They always greet us with a smile and provide us with what we ask for with no problem. They do however, incognito lower the gas level of your grill when they think the meat is done. We like our meat a bit crispy so we cook it well done. They change the grill when needed. They pay attention to their costumers and they always check to see if we need anything during our meal. I'm not one to leave Yelp reviews, however I just witnessed how the manager just treated a customer and I am beyond disappointed and shocked. I have never seen anything like this happen before in a professional environment. He had a table of personal friends dining there that were being extremely loud making it so we couldn't hear our own conversations at our table. The customer informed the manager of this and his response was that he didn't care about her as a customer and would defend his friends over a customer any day. The manager went on to tell the customer to "get the fuck out" of his restaurant. The manager's way of dealing with a simple comment was completely out of proportion compared to how the customer was speaking to him. He continued to use vulgar and offense language and I would never recommend this restaurant to ANYONE. read more

The food looks really good hopefully I got to try it but unfortunately the person at the front made us wait 20 minutes in front of the lobby without taking our names down we called him and he came and took care of the people in front of us and just leaving us behind alone last in the line then we proceeded to wait another 5 minutes and tried to call him and this time just looked at us and ignored us. That time we all just ended up leaving because there is no reason why we should be waiting 30 minutes to put our name down and wait for a table in our car. Came here to eat with the family. We never ate here so we were asking a lot if questions on how the ordering works. The waitress told us we choose 4 meats then the sides come along. If we wanted more meat then we can choose more. At the end when we received our bill it was 32$ per meat. Which was not explained to us. We asked someone else and he said we could have ordered 2 meats if wanted. But it seemed like they try to implement 4 meats is the minimum required in the very beginning then you get stuck paying for all this meat at the end that you dont finish. Probably their selling point, but honestly thats how you lose customers. Because if you wanted to take the meat home they charge you money to take your own food home you're already paying for. So glad my friend and I found this place so we don't have to drive all the way to k-town for kbeebs. Life. Saver. It's the best one in the area if you ask me, closest to Ktown kbbq hands down. Other places in the valley are either too expensive, the food isn't fresh, or not ayce. This place hits everything on my list. The meat selection for the basic menu is limited however, just brisket and 2 kinda of pork basically but idk it worked for me I'm not picky. I am taking away a star though because service isn't great. I try to order everything all at once when they first seat me because 95% of the time you wont see your waiter again until you walk up to the front and ask for the check. read more

Visited this location with my cousins on a Saturday during lunch hours. It was relatively empty with only 5 active tables. VERY SLOW service. There were only 3 ladies serving the entire restaurant and they were certainly inattentive. However, they seemed to pay more attention to "natives". Our table couldn't even get refills for water even after reminding our servers multiple times. Meats aren't the best. The brisket came out with freezer burns and the marinated meats didn't have much flavor to begin with. No grill changes on top after we requested for it. The waitresses literally watched us scraping our grill. Just when we thought the worst was over, paying for the bill was the last challenge of the day. I stood there as our server swiped my card 5 times, inserted it in the card reader, then nearly got my card locked by my bank for fraud because she continuously entered my zip code incorrectly. I watched my iPhone push alerts from my bank show 5 reversed transactions. Finally resorted to using cash... to have her proceed with opening the cash drawer and using the calculator several times to make sure she provided correct change with little confidence. You get what you pay for and if you really want to save a couple bucks on AYCE KBBQ, you can go to Pine Tree. Just be prepared to leave hungry and dissatisfied. read more

Ewww! Don't waste any money at this place. I went there for dinner tonight. They told me that AYCE was not available to me cause I'm a single diner. The price they were charging for one entree of short ribs is the same cost of 2 of their AYCE price so I told them to just charge me twice so I can eat what I want. Their brisket was fatty and hard to chew. Their marinated beef was garbage. Pretty sure they took rotting meat and marinated it in soy sauce and black pepper. It was gross. This was the first Korean BBQ I ever attended, and it remains one of the best I've tried. Definitely the most authentic and tastiest KBBQ in The Valley. I love that they start you off with a small bowl of muguk - a clear beef and radish soup. It's incredibly simple but totally hits the spot when you come in hungry. Their salad is also some of the best I've had at Korean BBQ, with a tangy and slightly spicy dressing. I also like the selection of banchan they give out, as it includes less common items like a veggie pancake. Finally, the doenjang jjigae (soybean and tofu stew) was pleasantly spicy and a nice complement to the rest of the meal. As for the meats, they're on par with what you'd get elsewhere. I pretty much only eat chicken, brisket, and bulgogi, and each of these was well seasoned and prepared in a fairly classic way. The service is not particularly friendly or attentive, but that's to be expected at an AYCE KBBQ place. The food more than delivers though, so come with a big appetite and a fighting spirit to get your orders taken. read more
