Very if the egg roll starts giving clues, mind your business. The food is not here to be cute. It is here to fill you up and send you home humbled. The noodles came in heavy. The beef and chicken did their job. Solid. Saucy. Filling in that real way where halfway through you realize this plate is actually trying to raise you. Not the most mind-blowing meal of your life, but definitely the kind of food that shows up to work. If you want a lot of food for your money, this place is not playing with you. Big portions. Strong value. No tiny forkfuls pretending to be a dining experience. The service though. Amazing. That is the plot twist. Warm. Attentive. Genuinely kind. Interesting hole in the wall. I always pass by but never thought of stopping by. My fiancé and I decided to check it out after seeing the reviews. The food was okay and the service was just this enthusiastic cute lady. The space seemed clean but it could be better and it's really old and outdated so you can feel uncomfortable at times. The menu options were pretty good. They have two all you can eat options but you have to be pretty hungry to get more than one round. Each option brings an egg roll, biscuit, fried shrimp and more. Great hole in the wall with great prices! The food was delicious -- hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The only reason for 4 stars is that the menu listed several sides like fried shrimp, but they weren't available, and the selection was a bit limited. Also, since it can get pretty busy, a little extra help for the waitress would go a long way -- she was super sweet and did an amazing job handling everything! King's is a no-frills, build-your-own Mongolian spot with great value! My parents have been here a couple of times, and I had been craving MBBQ, so we came in for lunch. Located in a strip mall, there isn't a ton of parking, but there are some spots dedicated specifically for King's customers. We were the only people in at noon on a Sunday, but we did see a couple of to-go orders, and a group of 6 sat down as we were finishing our meal. They have multiple meal options including BBQ only ($11.95), and every combination of sides (rice, wonton, egg roll, pocket biscuits, fried shrimp, soup). They have similar deals for dinner, and have a weekday happy hour (3-5p) where you can get AYCE BBQ for only $20! I went with option A, which was Mongolia BBQ plus a fried wonton and rice. For your BBQ you can choose beef, pork, chicken, or combination; I went with combo of course, and the portion of meat was good for lunch! They provide gloves so you can compress your bowl and load it up with veggies, noodles, and a variety of sauces. They have a guide of how many scoops of each sauce you need to make it mild, medium, and spicy; and a huge container of minced garlic-love it! The cooks work fast, and the service is friendly and attentive. While it might be slightly outdated in the decor, it's a great meal at a reasonable price. I went to Kings Mongolian barbecue. The food was delicious. I was served by the beautiful Fiona. She is absolutely amazing. Even if you don't want to eat anything at the restaurant, just going there to see her and say hello will be very worth your while. The service and food were excellent. I initially felt bad writing this review because I can tell this place is failing. I came here a few years ago and it was okay-- but what I had encountered was something so disappointing. I don't mind having small portions, but I nearly paid 20 dollars for this tiny soup, one wonton that had nothing in it, and the smallest bowl of stir fry. None of the veggies at the bar were filled, and to be honest, it looked past due. This place should not be serving people, it doesn't look clean, and the prices are ridiculous for its poor service and food. I urge to owner to renovate or close. This is our local MBBQ, we haven't been back in a number of years but would have been my dads birthday just passed and my mom and I decided to honor him by coming here in his memory. Parking was always an issue in this small lot but there are three spaces reserved, you just need someone to jump out and move the cone to park. The place is still as it always has been, a little dark, minimally decorated but even with a full house you can still hear each other talk. Something important to me and my family at least. Service is a little slow right at opening, the owner was the only one on the floor and there were a lot of take out orders coming in so we had to wait a bit to put our choices in. Once helped arrived in the afternoon though I'm sure it's much faster. The food is just as I remembered it, they still have the veg bar set up to take but with the additions of plastic gloves to wear to keep everything sanitary. Your meat is listed to your server who will bring the bowl to you, vegetarians have no fear there is a Tofu option. You just need to tell the cook when you bring your filled bowl up to the window that you have tofu and it comes from the back. Also of note, the tofu is cooked apart from meat dishes, meats are cooked two bowls at a time while tofu is the only one on the stove. Veg options are smaller than some other places but it's the most popular items I feel so I don't think anything is lacking. Word to the wise? Always do medium spice, and put the noodles on AFTER the oils. Noodles are added last on the stove and you may miss out on flavor being cooked into your veg and meats if you let the noodles soak them first. Garlic is also added now , minced with juice!, so don't forget a ladle or two! The soup needed some salt to be fair, watery egg drop is not my favorite but the egg roll and shrimp were perfectly done. Pocket biscuits were served right from the oven and were hot! But so good and worth a little but. To the fingers to get the perfect one. I will always recommend this restaurant to anyone who asks so do come by! We used to come here alot years ago. I drove out from Los Angeles, to surprise a friend who lives in the valley for her birthday. She had never been. I raved about it. Food is good but I miss being able to pick your own meat. The part I don't like at all is their service is bad! The lady is sweet but she does everything herself you have to wait a long time for anything like water, ordering and if you got all you can eat you have to wait a long time to get your next portion! Also all you can eat your only allowed 1 pocket bread which makes no sense at all!!!! There's a great Mongolian bbq in Simi but you can grab your own meats and they have shrimp too! I've seen this place all over Yelp for a while now and after reading a few of the positive reviews from my fellow Yelp Elites, I was ready to give it a go! Driving by, this place doesn't look like much from the outside. They do have a parking lot though which was nice! Walking into the business, it looks like that place hasn't changed since the 80s. There was one family dining there at the time and I could tell my husband wasn't sure about this place just at first glance, but I knew my Elites wouldn't steer me wrong! There was one waitress who was very friendly and attentive. When we sat down, we noticed that the bar with all the food looked a little messy. I asked the waitress if she could wipe it down for us, which she did. We ordered the combos that came with soup, fried shrimp, an egg roll, a wonton and some thin sesame bread. It was a lot of food for about $15! Before we went up to make our bowls, they put out some fresh meat, veggies and noodles for us. The veggies all looked really fresh and good! Veg options included baby corn, zucchini, spinach, mushrooms, carrots, cabbage, green onion, jalapeño, white onion, bean sprouts, broccoli and pineapple. Meat options were pork, chicken and beef. Add noodles, garlic and your own sauce combo and you are ready to get cookin! The grill was cleaned before our bowls went on which is always a big plus so you don't get any black char in your food. Two chefs cooked our bowls at once. You can top it with chili flakes, sesame seeds, garlic powder etc. after they are done. It was delicious! They have all you can eat options but oh boy, the bowls can be a lot of food if you are a pro stacker like myself (tip: smash the frozen meat to the bottom or side of the bowl to make room for more veggies!) I really appreciated how they also encouraged people to wear gloves while they made their bowls. The appetizers were OK. I would pass on the soup next time. Just when you thought you had enough carbs, piling noodles on top of noodles in your already full bowl of meat and veggies, you realize oh man you neeed to stuff those noodles into their delicious home made sesame bread pockets. A noodle sandwich of sorts. In all seriousness, this is the best Mongolian in town. Authentic as authentic gets. They stopped allowing people to put their own freeze dried meats in the bowl, cause us fiends were overloading the meat, but you can still press it down enough to absolutely load that thing up with meat and veggies. The only problem is there really should be more labels for the sauces. Somewhere in the array of sauce pots is soy sauce, garlic oil, chili oil, and maybe some other tangy liquids. I appreciate the supply of gloves to safely compile your ingredients. I suggest pressing them down somewhere down the line to help you pack more into your bowl. The place itself is a little lost in time. I'm not sure if it's ever received any face lifts. It doesn't really matter that I've never seen capacity nearing anywhere close to 50 percent here. Discovered this place by doing the old-fashioned drive by while hungry! Decided to come inside because they have an A food rating. The A rating is well deserved. They keep the meats ice cold in the back and bring out generous portions when you make your selection. Choose your own veggie station is well stocked and they provide gloves to keep things very clean and safe. The sauce station needs to be re-labelled. Omg went there for the first time and the worker quit on her first day, the soup was COLD, the wontons had nothing in them like NO FILLING AT ALL, the manager/server had her hair out with no hair net. Like seriously her hair could fall into the almost non existent food, our drinks did not get there at expected time we had to ask about where our drinks were and then the drinks were brought to us. The food cost $17 each maybe more and my meal came up to $80 and the rice wasn't even a full cup it was half a cup maybe less, the seasoning that I added tasted like nothing even though I added a lot before it was cooked and after it was cooked. Oh also the lady that quit was saying how the things that they're doing back there are so many health code violations, the things they are doing are not okay, that the owner is sick for giving stuff out to people and that they don't even change the napkins that go under the bread. read more
