My friend and I were looking for a kbbq place and Hanoo kalbi came up on yelp so we decided to give it a try. When we first entered, there was a sign that said 15% gratuity will be added to every table. It is easy to miss so it'll be good to be aware of that so you're not surprised later. All the workers were attentive and nicer Meat was also good quality. The only downside was how salty everything was. The side dishes were salty and the soups were ordered were also salty. The soybean soup was salty to the point we had to ask them to take it back. There was radish soup...which tasted exactly like radish in water...that wasn't salty so we had to mix the leek soup with the radish soup to make it less salty but overall...everything was salty. It's a kbbq place so as long as the meat is good I think we're good. Just be warned that aside from the meat, the food can be a bit salty. read more

I've been coming here for the last couple of years and, truthfully, it's never been that great... until now. Whoever the new owners are, they're doing it right. The service here is great. Everyone is friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The meat selection is solid, the sides are good, and everything just feels much more dialed in than it used to. The ambiance is nice. It's just a family establishment serving good food, and sometimes that's all you need. I've been here when it's busy and I've also been here when it's dead, and the experience has been consistently good. My wife wanted to try this place since it is close by our house. I personally have two favorite KBBQ spots I only go to because they have a large variety of meats and I trust the quality. This place was ok, but in comparison to the other places we go, it doesn't compare. The place was empty when we arrived and the people and service was nice. It was very clean and the waiter was able to get our drink orders and food right away. The meat quality was ok but I did not like the salad at all. It was like they got it out of a plastic package from Vons. It was like a salad you would get on an airplane. My favorite meat is bulgolgi and it's always a hit with me. However, with my family, it's either a hit or miss and this time, it was a huge miss. I don't think they were fans of this spot and would prefer our other spot. I used to live in OC where the KBBQ was endless and too good. Since moving back to LA, I've struggled finding a KBBQ that I enjoy near me- but this one is my top vote so far. Less than 15 minutes from me. We went for a very early dinner around 4:30 PM and the service was great. We got the lowest option which was perfect and had everything we needed. I even got a steamed egg. I continuously asked for more kimchi, rice paper, and glass noodles, SO YUMMY. The meat was delicious and the portions were very reasonable. Great parking too The table is perfect for KBBQ. Good space and the grill was good too (I don't like it when KBBQ places have inefficient grills haha). Service is fast and friendly (grill changes were often and speedy), meat and banchan are yummy, and parking lot is spacious (much better than the one in Northridge)!! Affordable compared to other KBBQ spots in the valley. Favorite meats include the rib finger, tongue, brisket, and beef belly. Soondubu and other soups were okay. steamed egg was yummyyy. corn cheese was aight. The kimchi, japchae, and cucumber kimchi are also a fave. Also fishcake! They brought out banchan often, when they saw our favorites were out. I like how they bring out a big bowl of rice for everyone to share as opposed to individual bowls. Came on a Wednesday night and were seated immediately. It was our first time here, and we chose Option B ($35 per person). The banchan was fresh and tasty. We ordered the brisket, beef belly, streak, seafood, and prime beef (highly recommend the prime beef as it had great flavor) Overall, all the meats were good. For dessert, we had the cheesecake and mango sorbet, but both came out extremely frozen, making them difficult to eat at first. Once they softened, they were yummy, especially the mango sorbet. I had menu B and it comes with a good selection of meats and side dishes to choose from. Tofu soup isn't spicy and I thought it was going to be. The egg soup was good too. They have a decent variety of banchan. The fish cake is okay, not the greatest as it lacked flavor. Japchae is really good too. Beef fingers are so good and worth getting a second round. Came here with a friend and ordered bulgogi (a must in any kbbq), beef tongue, and beef finger ribs. Beef tongue is sliced so thin, it melts in your mouth. Got to pair it with rice, steam egg, and kimchi, that's a good meal right there. Afterwards, if you still got some energy, then you can head to karaoke next door to sing. The ambiance is pretty huge and they have plenty of space to sit people. The service was okay, I was hoping for my server to come a little more often than the usual. The food was amazing but the gratuity on our bill without consent was a bit too much. Just be prepared for that extra charge. What a great little kbbq spot hidden right in Lake Balboa! You would absolutely miss this place driving by. Service here was excellent! We felt so taken care of and the staff was so kind. Absolutely LOVED the bulgogi. Great flavor! The pork belly wasn't the best I've ever had, but I still very much enjoyed it. Their kimchi is also BOMB. They have both AYCE and a la carte items, but it's more worth it to do the AYCE. It's about $34 a person. Plenty of parking available! Easy to have conversations. Indoor seating is great for groups of 4 and they have larger tables in the back for parties. 4 stars. We were really hoping that this would be a nice place to satisfy a kbbq craving in the valley, but while we no longer have that craving, we're not thrilled. I'll start with some positives. First, the service is friendly, quick, and helpful. Everyone there was attentive and nice, so we didn't mind the automatic 15% gratuity. The parking is easy because it shares a huge lot. Now, for the food. -side dishes: decent - not the best, but not bad either -beef brisket: various levels of toughness, ranging from a little tough to super tough, but overall, tough. -beef belly: even tougher than the beef brisket... -rib finger: actually pretty good! The marinade was tasty, and the meat was relatively tender. -pork belly: my partner thought it was ok, especially in comparison with the brisket and beef belly -bean paste stew: decent, but portion is also super small, especially considering this was limited to 1 for 2 people. -steamed egg: tasty, but super small portion (the smallest I think I've ever seen at a kbbq place), and another of those items limited to 1 for 2 people -salad: not the best match for kbbq, especially because the dressing was super watery -spicy beef and leek soup: decent, but small, and had pretty much no beef in it Overall, we were so confused by this spot. While they had really huge portions for each meat order, their soup and steamed egg portions were so small and limited. The quality of their meats was so low given their pricing, and I can't help but wonder why they're choosing to limit the items that would fill people up on rice rather than meat... It would make so much more sense to have better quality meats with smaller portions, and some with that 1 per 2 people limit. read more

Went here last night and had a great time! The meat was really good quality for AYCE and the kimchi was great too. Only thing that I would say was a con was the vent above our table was really loud. It made it hard to talk without shouting. Not sure if all the tables are like that or if it was just ours. It really ruined the ambiance for me though. Other than that, the service was amazing, always checking up on us and making sure we had everything. Leaving Kaiser Woodland Hills location, where my sister is in the ICU battling stage four cancer, I decided to exit the freeway to treat myself to a Korean BBQ to take my mind off of everything. Hanoo Kalbi refused to seat me; here is the reason given: "On the weekend, it's all you can eat, two-person minimum." We had dinner at Hanoo Kalbi on a weeknight. We chose the AYCE B option and everything we ate was delicious. The galbi and beef fingers were marinated well and not too sweet. The beef belly and pork belly (regular, thin sliced and miso marinated PB) was very delicious. My family doesn't usually eat all the banchan at an AYCE K-BBQ spot but all the side dishes were fresh, bright and flavorful, we even had refills. The ice cream macarons were a nice way to end a delicious meal. The service was excellent. Everyone we met was so kind. The restaurant itself is spacious and seating was comfortable. This is one of my local go to kbbq eateries when I don't want to make the trip to Koreatown or sit in traffic. The wait time usually is fairly quick. The service is impeccable. They constantly come and check in on you and provide what you need. Their meat cuts are fantastic and the flavor of their food is impeccable. They play kpop music and the most recent time I attended, it was Gen 2 artists. I was singing along while cooking my food. It put a big smile on my face.
