OMG I found my new place for all things seafood. This place was hopping. My brother and sil took me to the best seafood place and it so close to me. My favorite seafood is crab but my second is octopus. This place had everything. Let start with the chips and salsa. Crispy crunchy chips w no salt dipped into the perfect salsa. I also tried the pico de galeo sauce awesome. My sil loves ceviche. It his place make this daily. It had perfectly cooked squid and shrimp w the next saved onions in juice from the gods. We also had them put together octopus and scallop app that was surrounded by the best garlic bread which was perfect for dipping into the sauce used to blend the seafood together. The octopus was tender and tasty while the scallops were cooked to perfection. I had more grilled octopus w broccoli and potato. Had to get some veg in. All done perfectly. The crunch on the potatoes were on point. We also had a cheese quesadilla that was great. My sil loved the bean purée and the crunchy top gooey inside. My brother had the captain soup which will be my new favorite. It had a tone of seafood in a yellow broth that would warm anyone soul My son had the salmon w salad and rice. The salmon was cooked perfect he doesn't eat skin so I was able to try the crispy skin. The rice was flavorful and the salad was good. I like a fresh salad and this was fresh. This place blends the best of Mexican cooking with seafood flair perfect. This family knows their stuff. The staff was great checking on us making selections. Greeted with a huge smile and knowledgeable wait staff I hope this place is around for a long time. The unassuming stand alone building is packed. They have a deli type for take out on one side a huge seafood area to see how fresh the fish is. W lots of choices. Then about 100 tables for sit down a bar in the corner w the tv playing the latest soccer match. Although it was loud it was rambunctiously loud. The crowd was families enjoying the best meal. I also loved that they gave us a bottle of soda so you know it's fresh nothing worse than flat tap. My sil loves the tamarind drink which is a sweet type drink tasted like a sweet tea. Although Spanish is the dominant language spoken they don't make you feel bad if you need help w anything. The only downside is parking. They have a small lot in the front and a bigger lot in the back but it's still not enough for the people. The wait was manageable and definitely worth it. We ate like this was our last meal portions are huge and value was amazing so much food and extra to take home. Can't wait to go back and try more the menu has so many choices. read more

It's a local bodega connected to a fish market. I stop through here if I'm in the area when working because there's room for truck parking on the side street Pine Grove Blvd. Everything tends to be be adequately tasty. It's more Salvadoran foods so flavors are slightly different if you're used to the "corner bodega" store. Not a fan of the breakfast sandwich or grilled chicken. Both get cooked to smithereens no matter how many times I ask for my eggs over easy. So I quit buying it. Problem solved. Their fish dishes are best. Overall a decent spot but nothing that wows me. What a find! I decided to stop by because I was working in the area and had a craving for rice and beans. The place is under construction but it looks like it will be pretty when it's finished. It even has a little gas fireplace in the corner across from the big bar. Chips and salsa were good, fresh and home made. I ordered beefsteak enceballado with rice and beans and plantains. Delicious, lots of onions and had a little kick to it. Yellow rice and beans were good and the fried sweet plantains were excellent. When I was done, the owner came by with a huge platter of broiled fish that looked incredible. That's what I'm getting next time I go! read more

We went here for the first time on Sunday. We were seated promptly despite how busy the business was. Service was prompt and very friendly. We tried a little of everything! The scallops, shrimp, and calamari were cooked to perfection. Loved the scallops and salmon. Roasted pork was perfect. Ordered a dozen toasters on the half shell....perfection! Icy cold and fresh!! Truly a hidden gem in Long Island. The best seafood I have had in years! After hearing several people recommend this place, I decided to stop by and check it out myself. The owner was gracious and gave me a free sample of the ceviche which was out of this world!!I enjoyed a glass of white wine while they prepped the raw lobsters, shrimp, & clams for us to throw right on the grill (he seasoned the lobsters and shrimp, so I just had to throw on grill ) I will definitely be back to buy the raw seafood (which was fantastically fresh), but I think next time I will treat my family and sit and eat in the restaurant side and enjoy the delicious seafood. read more

Ughh so disappointed! Placed an order to go - didn't have to wait that long. Ordered yuca frita with chicharrones- seems the yuca was fried hours before. Opened it as soon as I got into the car, it was cold and soft - not crispy as it should be! The "chicharrones" were pieces of small ribs on bone. It was tasty but that is not a chicharron! The pupusas were hot but not the best. One thing they do know how to make are the soups. Gave two stars because of the times I remember having the soup. read more

Yeah, this place is a deli, I guess, and then some: Though it's been here for years and is well-known to the Brentwood locals, the time is now for the Pineaire Deli to arrive on the Yelp landscape (it appeared on my best of 2009 list http://www.yelp.com/topic/patchogue-l-i-best-09 when it took "Best Seafood Dive.") I guess its time for a review. Though the locale is nowhere near the water (it can be found just off the Sagitkos on Pine Aire Drive) it's one of those places that dudes who love to rant about a places "authenticity" will find irresistible, and in that respect it is a true dive. I think it a Salvi place, but the staff is friendly and bilingual. It says "Deli Que Rica Comida Seafood Restaurant" on the outside sign, and is a combination fish market counter, lunchonera and informal eatery. The restaurant has lunch specials, they'll will fry or broil up just about anything you could ask for, and have a formal menu if you wish to see it. They start you off right with chips and salsa, and have some good hot sauces on the table (Cholula and Tapatio). Best thing I've had here is the scampi, and I've had it all ways . . .Lobster, Mussels, Shrimps, Crab (see pics). When you like a sauce, you like a sauce. The lobster (etc.) is all market price and the have the nicest mussels going, served on the halfshell, meaty and presented with care, not just a pile of steamed bivalves smothered in sauce (please see pics for illustration). A really great plate of food, treat yourself and wash it down with some Negro Modelo's, take in the atmosphere, and get some blueclaws to go. read more

My friends and I love returning to PA for a fun dinner in a Salvadorian setting. The bldg is a strip with their bodega on one end then the fish market and attached restaurant in a row. The owners are great guys; Demis and Nelson are brothers and although different personalities are both a pleasure to be with. They know how to prepare all fish dishes; We love to start with the Mussels in a spicy red sauce surrounded by crisp bread to wipe up the sauce. Also they have a wonderful squid dish made in a garlic and oil. Its fun to checkout the fish counter and if you like, pick the fish you want them to make for you. I personally like the Porgie and Red Snapper fried to perfection. That along with an order of sweet plaintains and a bucket of Coronas is bliss! At the bottom of the fish counter runs a long tank with lobsters and other crustacians for your choosing and cooked the way you like it. You can order from the menu, or ala carte fish et. al. by the pound and they will prepare and serve it. The place is very "local" and is loud and boisterous during soccer games and fun when they have karioke nights. Despite the area on Pine Air Road, we have brought lots of friends and they in turn brought their families to enjoy the ethnic atmosphere....when crowded it is lots of fun....Also, the price is RIGHT and they take CC's! read more

I've passed this place quite a few times and was put off by the exterior appearance. However, Newsday's recent ranking of this place being one of the best seafood restaurants on Long Island made me decide to pay it a visit (it isn't very far from my office building). When will I learn that you can't judge a book by its cover, and very often the funkiest looking places on the outside very often have the best food inside. As one other reviewer noted, the clientele and the staff are primarily Latino. Despite my Spanish name and general Hispanic appearance, I am not Hispanic. It did take my initial server by surprise when I told her I didn't speak Spanish. She called over a co-worker who spoke English and she ended up taking care of me. I ordered the Sopa de Mariscos and a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice (naranja). The soup was DELICIOUS and loaded with mussels, clams, shrimp, scallops and half a lobster (in the shell). This was also served with a piece of hot bread wrapped in foil. I'm not sure what the bread is called; it was filled with melted cheese. It was good, but I was more interested in the soup so I only nibbled on the bread a bit. The prices are NOT inexpensive (Popei's in Deer Park is much more economical for a seafood lunch), but I can't argue the quality of the food. The staff was also very friendly, attentive, and eager to please. I'll be back to try some of the other dishes for sure. read more

It's nothing fancy, but it serves its purpose well as a hispanic flavored seafood market and restaurant. It's a great option if you're looking for a decent lunch in the area that's not a fast food meal. I had a fried fish platter that was pretty tasty with large portions and I walked away very satisfied. I wouldn't mind coming back for lunch again. read more

Horrible service!!! Menu had mold on it. Had to ask 3 times for glasses of water and chips. Table was cleaned with dirty cloth. Just subhuman standard service and cleanliness. The food was below average in taste. Extremely disappointed. Felt disgusted after eating here. Never again. read more

Pathetic. Honestly I don't think I've ever had this bad of South American food. If your looking for a case of gastroenteritis with a side of biliary colic, this is your place! The food is drenched in grease, whether it's fried or not (& most food is fried). Dishes are expensive, and I'm not even sure where they made these prices from ($6 for a side of avocado??). The owner is too busy chatting it up, while our order took ~1.5 hours to come out (and 1 order was wrong). I never complain about places or leave negative reviews, however this will be the exception. read more

Ate here yesterday for dinner and the place seems to be happening. All the customers were of hispanic or latin descent, including the ones who were there just drinking, so first impression is that these are locals. The atmosphere is a little bit on the loud side with the music and people, so don't expect a nice quiet dinner. We ordered some fried sweet plantains, fried calamari, fried clam strips, and a dozen oysters for appetizers. The plantains were cooked right and not oily so they were good. The fried calamari had a light breading, cooked right, and not oily so these were good too w/ the marinara but could have used a little bit of seasoning or salt. The fried clam strips came w/ fries and was actually a kid's meal since they don't have this as an appetizer but the clams were decent sized pieces and weren't oily or hard but they were not as soft as the calamari. I was looking for a taste of the sea with these but there was none...I think these may have been frozen since they had a different breading and were darker in color...these were just ok w/ the tartar sauce. The oysters were decent sized, a few had broken shells, but overall these were fresh and pretty good. I liked the pico de gallo side they came with. They also gave out tortilla chips and salsa for the table. For the entrees, we had paella, fried red snapper, seafood soup, kid's chicken fingers, and kid's fried shrimp. The paella had lobster, shrimp, clams, and mussels and tasted very seafood-y and good. The seafood soup had the same w/ half a lobster and it was very good and tasted like the paella but in a soup. The only thing I didn't like about this was that the lobster may have been cooked too long or maybe I left it in the hot broth for too long because the meat became overcooked and stuck to the shell a little. This was delicious and plentiful that I just finished it for dinner now (I only had the soup left but I mixed it w/ white rice and it was a satisfying dinner). The whole red snapper was fried right except it could have used some salt or seasoning. The fried shrimps were big and good and came w/ fries. Again, these could have used some salt or seasoning also. The chicken fingers w/ fries I didn't taste because I was already full. The kid's meals come w/ ice cream (they got vanilla) and they were actually pretty good...might have to get a milk shake next time. Aside from the not-too-seasoned issue (might be because some previous reviews complained about their food being too salty), everything was good, plentiful, and very cheap! The prices are excellent that you can try many things for what you would normally end up spending on 1 entree somewhere else. I was also eying some whole lobster in some sauce that was at another table and this was definitely not on the menu, otherwise I would have gotten it instead of the soup...next time! I would definitely be back here again for the good seafood, and I suggest you give it a try if you like good seafood. read more

This place (at least the restaurant part of it) is great. The restaurant is very fish oriented, but with a Hispanic angle. It is a very informal dining area, not especially comfortable, but the service is good and friendly. My only real complaint is that, usually, they will tell me my first choice of entree off the menu is unavailable, so I'll have to scramble for a second. But nothing I end up getting has ever disappointed. read more

So sad this was one of my favorites. I've not been here in about a year or so and last night we went with friends and our young children...6 kids ages 3 to 11 the kids order something fast Pupusas, tacos and chicken fingers. The adults ordered fried redsnaper, 2 seafood soups and 2 steak and shrimp. We waited over an hour for food, we kept asking our waiter to please just bring the kids food out we can wait but not the kids he kept saying it almost teady...he kept saying that for about 45 minutes. Finally we asked the manager and voila the kids food was served! We kept waiting for our food about 10 minutes later the adult food was served. ..COLD! 3 of just eat it because we had to leave and one of the kids had fallen asleep without eating. T u e other 2 send it back to get heated. The manager was trying to acomdate us but it was too little too late. It was ALL the water's fault! If the service was better and the food served hot I would have given them 4 maybe even 5 stars. Never again! PS the chair I sat on was broken it caught my finger when I was pulling the chair in to sit and now I have nice bruised finger. read more

Poor phone service, they should have a proficient bilinguel person taking orders. Unethical pratices, trouble redeeming a certficate and charged $10 gratituity on a take out order. Food is good but unfortunatley I would never give them my business again nor recommend them to anyone else. read more
